Using leopard as alarm with internet radio?

It would be really great if I could use the Mac I'm about to get as an alarm - waking up to radio4. Would that be doable? I know you can set the OS to fire up at a certain time, but can you have it automatically play a stream online without having to click on anything?
Unrelated but important: could someone please set out exactly what I should select when setting up a new airport router and a new mac to max out security. I'm being put off by what seems to be a weak firewall and I just am no where near being able to follow the threads here on how set up unix - pygmy user here.
A fool proof, really really simple/clear 'how to' would be very very much appreciated by many others including me! I'd print it out before switching over to the new system.
Love some ideas - thanks

I just stumbled upon this problem too and found that if you press edit on the "more" menu and drag the radios icon to the toolbar, it stays there. I played with this for a while and it doesnt disappear.

What do I need to do to use the Airplay feature with Jango Radio from my iPhone or Mac?

Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.
Thank everybody, especialy Zyriab, ne was the closest.
    High regards to everybody

  • Changing volume with internet radio on E63

I've got some channels saved in my favourites but can't figure out how to change the volume. With FM, it's obvious but not so (to me anyway!) with internet radio.
Can anyone advise me how to change the volume? Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply.

How long are you using internet for? Are you using WiFi or mobile data? Are you watching video on websites? There are many variables that could explain a perfectly natural battery drain. As I said previously you should try recalibrating the battery. My phone used to drain by mid-afternoon with little to no use until I found out about recalibrating. Since then its been fine and its something I do at least once a month.

  • WAG200G and Samsung pc interfering with internet radio's

I have a netwerk with Linksys WAG200G (annex B (=ISDN version)) router and some 15 pc's and internet radios, mainly oxx.
Yesterday I installed a new all in one PC, namely a Samsung ativ one 5 style, a kind of iMac but much cheaper.
All went allright but for one thing. If my Samsung was on all my internet radios started oscillating / continuously rebooting / continuously restarting as soon as a music station was playing which thus played not longer than 1 to 3 seconds. If my Samsung was off. All my internet radios worked fine as before. My guess for the nature of the problem was: interference.
If you google on interference you will find that you may have to change the channel on which the router works. I already had that optimised but I checked again using INSSIDER and trying various channels. No change.
Further, I think that I somewhere (possibly in a post on this forum!)  have read that interference problems might decrease by changing the mode of the router from "Mixed" (which means G- and B-mode) to "G-mode only".  This post is to inform you that I think that that did the tric and solved the problem. Samsung on or off, all my radios work fine.
PS Another suggestions was to use "B-mode only" since that should slower things which might improve. My pc's and radios worked fine on it but the interference problem was not gone. By the way, since B-mode is a more or less obsolete mode, you miss nothing by changing to "G-mode only" I guess.

I was able to listen to Internet radio stations until I installed the latest software update.  Then got spinning gear wheel saying loading radio stations. Rebooted by using the menu and down buttons at the same time.  Now get list of radio stations, including my favorites, but when I try to play one, get message "Cannot access Internet Ra dio Stations"

  • What's going on with internet radio?

apple TV has a hard time connecting to Radio Stations and downloading the stations for each category.
It keeps asking to check internet connection.

  • Is Apple having problems with Internet Radio?

Radio problems on Apple Internet Radio?

I've noticed the same thing.  Apparently, the underlying URLs for the radio stations were dependent on a redirection script on an Apple-hosted domain (pri.kts-af.net).  That URL is now broken and returning 404s.
For example, 'BBC Radio 1' was at:
    http://pri.kts-af.net/redir/index.pls?esid=7011c0c407d3ff7e6efcb712bb91d9b1&url_ no=1&client_id=7&uid=68efed4d03ec7e45fd3978262c107180&clicksrc=xml
Now, it seems the best recourse (if you can't wait for Apple to fix it) is to re-save the radio station from the master list, and you'll end up with a more direct URL (that works):
BBC Radio 1 is now at:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1_aaclca.pls

  • I'm having trouble with internet radio thru Airport Express with itunes 7.

The new itunes 7 is working okay for me except for one thing. For some reason I have a buffering problem between my computer and my Airport Express when I feed internet radio to it. Playing it through my computer speakers works just fine. Normal itunes music files seem to be okay either way. This started happening when I installed itunes 7. I have reset the base station and it hasn't improved things. Is it just coincidence? Anyone got any clues?
    Powerbook 15"   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Same problem here. Some streams are playing correctly and others play in a strange manner, like a mix.
I also got this problem with iTunes 7. I hope that Apple will fix it in a future update so that I can listen to every station over my Airport Express.

  • Problems with Internet Radio on Apple TV

Recently, Apple TV Internet Radio just stopped working, all other functions still work: HomeShare, iTunes, Internet (NetFlix, YouTube).  Reset Apple TV, and Internet Radio still won't work, either get a black screen, a spinning wait ball thingy, or an error message (saying 'Can not access Internet Radio")  Just before I had the problems whole Apple TV got a little buggy, menus were off a little, NetFlix streaming very buggy, menus didn't come up the same every time ... very odd.
Internet connection is ok, works great, not an internet issue.
    Thanks for any help.

It looks like a quite a few people are have this same problem and no solution yet. Here's a different thread where people have been talking about the problem.

  • Since migrating from Hotmail to Outlook, I can't access my contacts list using Firefox, but can with Internet Explorer - what's wrong?

Since the migration from Hotmail to Outlook, I can no longer access my Contacts (now People) using Firefox. There is no problem when using Internet Explorer.
I have v21.0 Firefox, and have cleared cache and cookies.
What can I do next (apart from not using Firefox)?

hello madscanner, you could try to [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|reset firefox]] and see if this will address the issue...

  • Can I use non-apple earphones with radio remote?

I have a new Ipod 3g and want to buy the radio remote. Must I use the earbuds supplied with the radio remote or can I use non-apple earbuds and earphones? Will I still get good radio reception with a non-apple earphone?

Yes you can. I use Sennheiser PX100's and they work just fine.
Plug the headphones into the remote rather than the iPod to get the best reception.

  • IOS Remote app does not control Internet Radio on Apple TV

I just bought a 3rd generation Apple TV and one of the things I want to use it for is playing Internet Radio stations (not the new Radio feature). It does this fine and I can listen to BBC radio stations, however, the iOS remote app can't control this for some reason. It works fine if I control iTunes on my Mac mini with the same app. This makes no sense. Am I missing something?

you know, as many movies as I rented this summer directly from the Apple TV, not once did i ever try to start one using the iPhone remote... guess it never crossed my mind to.
I wonder if it is even supposed to work that way though. Is there a rented movies category on the remote app when you are connected to the Apple TV?
I cannot remember, guess its been a while since I worked with it a great deal.

  • AppleTV tries to connect to internet radio while playing music from my Ipad via AirPlay

    As the title says..
When I play music from my Ipad mini via AirPlay, the sound drops every ten to fifteen seconds.
On the TV-screen it shows the info about the band, song etc, but when it drops I get a box with "internet radio" written inside, before the sound comes back, and everything is normal again. Very annoying to have the sound cutting like that multiple times during a song..
AppleTV (gen 3) is wireless connected to a Airport Extreme, and with HDMI-cable to a surround reciever.
The Ipad and AppleTV have the lates updates (IOS 8.0).
Tries with a 4S with the IOS 7.1.2 version, but it's the same story with that..

  • IPod speaker/dock that can wirelessly stream internet radio from our Apple TV?

Our Apple TV 2 is downstairs. I use it to listen to internet radio streams all day. I'd love a speaker system for upstairs that can dock and play iPods, but also stream internet radio from the Apple TV downstairs. Does such a product exist? TIA for any pointers.

Your church services presumably have a specific internet address which you view in a browser?
If so and you have a fairly new iMac you could start playback on the iMac in a browser and use Airplay Mirroring to send a 'copy' of what is on-screen to your TV using AppleTV to display it.  The same would apply to modern iPhones (4s and later) and newer iPads provided the phone can play them in a browser (maybe not if the stream id Flash based).
    AirPlay Mirroring
Requires a second-generation Apple TV or later. Supports the following Mac models:
    iMac (Mid 2011 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer)
AppleTV does not have an internet browser.  It is primarily a device to play content from your local iTunes library or from iTunes store via the internet (purchases or rentals).  It does have certain 'channels' like YouTube, Netflix etc which you are probably not interested in.
AppleTV needs to be connected to the same network as the iMac.
If your iMac is too old for Airplay Mirroring, something like AirParrot might work in software.
