Using Lightroom Presets in CS4/5 Camera RAW

Hi,
I converted 50 Lightroom Presets I developed that work perfectly as
presets that can be used in PS CS4/5 Camera RAW. You can even apply them
in bridge by right-clicking on the image. Get some freebies and let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

  • Use Lightroom Presets in CS4?

    Hello.
Is it possible to use Lightroom presets in Photoshop CS4?  I can open the text files and attempt a replication manually, but it's never too close.
    Cheers, E.

While they're not importable, you can simulate your own presets to your liking, and store as many as you wish.

  • Can Aperture Use The Presets I have In Camera Raw?

    Hi,
I have some very handy Presets that I apply to images when opened in Camera Raw 4.
I want to use the same Presets in Aperture 1.5, but despite much poking around, I can't seem to find a way to load them.
    Can it be done?
    Thanks.
    Hugh

Why not make your own presets?
It'll be more work than a straight import, but you'll be able to fine tune your aperture presets specifically for aperture.
I've recently generated some contrast curves and saturation settings that "simulate" some of my Nikon D200's settings (Portrait, Vivid) and some custom jobs. The only problem is that they're linked to exposure so if you need to tweek +0.5 EV you have to reset it every time you change from one to the other.

  • Can I use Lightroom presets in Photoshop CS4

    HI,
There are a lot of beautiful Lightroom presets out there, I do not have Lightroom but PS CS4, Is it possible to use Lightroom presets in Photoshop CS4?  If so how do I import them ..ie: do I need to change the extension to a filter, action, and lastly which folder do I place them?
    Thank you in advance

  • Lightroom 2.6 trial version camera raw tone curve questions + 4 more

1- How do you reduce the 100% point on the curve (upper right) and raise the 0% point black portion as can been executed in CS4 photoshop bridge camera raw?   Example I want a photo adjusted to have a 5% dot value in the white area and a 95% dot value in the black area. Note: CS4 bridge camera raw can lower the white point and raise the black point by pulling the points up or down.
2- After cataloging three internal drives how does one do a search across the three(3) drives simultaneously to find a file name  to look for redundancy or whatever without launching each catalog separately?
3- How can an initially created catalog name be changed after the catalog is created?
4- How can a file or several files be added to a catalog after the catalog is created - is there a way to immediately refresh to show newly added files?
5- Is there a way to show Illustrator CS4 files in lightroom 2.6 or a utility to convert them to acceptable LR formats to be visible?

    vic,
    1. You can do this natively in the LR3 beta 2, but not easily in LR2. You can edit the curve in Camera Raw and save it as a preset, then import that into LR. I don't know the details, but I've seen posts here that talk about it.
    2. You can't. That's why it's lots better to have only one catalogue. The images can be spread across as many drives as you want, and that one catalogue can keep track of them all.
    3. Use your operating system to rename the catalogue file and its associated top-level folder of previews.
    4. You can Import or Synchronize.
    5. LR will just deal with JPG, TIFF, DNG, PSD, and various raw files. I don't know of a utility that will convert Illustrator files to one of those formats. If I were you, I'd search in Google.

If I'm in LIghtroom 5, and try to Edit in Photoshop CS6, I always get the following message: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.6 for full compatibility." But I have updated to 8.6 and have no remaining updates. How can I fix this?
If I click "Open Anyway" or "Render using Lightroom", I get the following message:
"Adobe Photoshop CS6 cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop CS6 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X."
Please tell me what to do so I can edit from Lightroom to Photoshop.

In Photoshop, if you choose Help - About Plug-in... - Camera Raw, does it say 8.6?
Seems to me there was some hiccup they found in the update process, which prompted this:
Camera Raw updates cannot be applied
I honestly don't know if the problem could apply to 8.6 as well, which is why I asked you to check to make very sure you really got it.

RAW images in Lightroom aren't opening in camera raw in Photoshop.  Instead, I have to open the image in Finder before it will open in Camera Raw in Photoshop.  How can I correct that?

Your question is a little unclear. In a "normal" Lightroom/Photoshop workflow the raw images do not open from Lightroom into Camera Raw. Lightroom has all of the Camera Raw functionality in the develop module. When you choose to open an image in Photoshop, and Lightroom and Photoshop are synchronized (i.e. referencing the same version of Camera Raw) then Camera Raw is simply used to interpret the Lightroom adjustments as the image is transferred to Photoshop. If Camera Raw is an older version then Lightroom offers you the choice to open the image or create a PSD or TIF file that includes all of the Lightroom adjustments. But in either case, opening in Camera Raw is not part of the workflow. It is possible to open the image as a smart object or convert the image to the smart object in Photoshop and then open it in Camera Raw. That is done from within Photoshop or is one of the open options in Lightroom. If you choose to go the smart object route the image first has to be opened in Photoshop and then from there you can open it in Camera Raw.

The support for that camera was added in the very latest release of Lightroom, version 5.7.1. Having downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 will have no effect on Lightroom because Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. You need to make sure you have updated Lightroom to the very latest release in order to have support for that camera.

  • Installed Lightroom 5.7 Update and Camera RAW 8.7 But still will not recognise my Canon 7D MkK ll even though this is now on the list

Installed Lightroom 5.7 Update and Camera RAW 8.7 But still will not recognise my Canon 7D MkK ll even though this is now on the list- what can I do?
    Operating System OSx Yosemite IMac.

What exactly does "not recognise" mean, Kathy?
You're on Mac (thanks for providing that detail): are you getting a "could not be read" message? If you are, it's a write permissions issue with the destination. Change the permission, and all should be well.

  • Using Lightroom presets in Photoshop?

    Hi,
I apologize if this question has been asked before. I've been told
that I can use my Lightroom presets in Photoshop CS4 and 5.
Apparently by importing them into Camera RAW. Does anyone  have any instructions
on how to do this. Can you apply the preset to JPG's as well?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Using LR2 w/ Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7

    I am using Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7 on a Mac G4, OS X 10.4.11.
I am about to install my upgrade to Lightroom 2. Is this a bad idea?
I have read about some compatibility issues re Camera Raw, and I have also read about how to solve the issue of exporting the keywords.
Will this keyword issue fix work on my system?
What are the real-world practical implications of still having Camera Raw 3.7? I usually adjust images in Lightroom, then any further adjustment is done in Photoshop (not CR). So is the only downside going to be that if I revisit the image in Camera Raw, the adjustments will not show up? Or will it also not show up in Bridge?? And if it is only in CR, is it that the image does not have the adjustments; or does it show the adjusted image, but has just all the sliders zeroed out?
I am hot to install LR2, but I want to make sure that I am not going to open a can of worms. And yes, I could buy PS CS4 (which would get me CR 4.5), and I would like to, but I don't have a G5. And I cannot afford to buy a new desktop computer right now.
Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
    Dean Abramson

    >so is the LR version of RAW as good as the one in CS3?
It's far better as it has local adjustments and such. Lightroom is more equivalent to the ACR in CS4. To make changes you make to images in ACR outside Lightroom show up in Lightroom, you need to sync the metadata. ACR does not write the changes to RAW images to the Lightroom database, but it writes it into xmp sidecars either right next to the RAW file or embedded into it. So Lightroom has no idea you did anything until you specifically ask it to check for updated metadata.
Note that trying to work with both bridge/ACR and Lightroom on the same set of data will inevitably make you lose data or edits at some point as you're dealing with a synchronization issue, so be careful.

  • Canon 60D files can't be opened in Bridge (CS4 version); Camera Raw 6.6 has key features missing

I am a Mac user (latest OS) and had been using Camera Raw from Bridge CS4 (part of my Elements 8 bundle) to edit my raw pictures from Canon RebelXTi. I upgraded to a 60D, downloaded the pertinent Camera Raw plug-in, but my raw files still wouldn't open in Bridge. I purchased Elements 10, thinking that would solve all problems, but apparently Bridge and Camera Raw are no longer part of the package! I downloaded the latest Camera Raw patch for Elements 10 (6.6), and I can now open raw files from Photoshop, but the Camera Raw version is not full featured and Bridge still can't open my 60D files. How can I get the full version of Camera Raw back AND have my 60D files opened? I deleted Elements 8, but not Bridge, and I can still open raw files from my Rebel in the earlier full version of Camera Raw. When I check in Elements 10 preferences, only Camera Raw 6.6 shows up, so that should be correct. Any ideas?

The full-featured ACR with Elements loophole has been closed in the newer Mac Elements, I believe.   Us PC folks never had Bridge with Elements or haven’t for many versions, already , so have already been limited in RAW processing with Elements.  Adobe finally “fixed” the Mac version, too, I think.
For full-featured ACR and Bridge you’re supposed to pay for Photoshop.  Perhaps Lightroom, that is half the cost of PS, and has all the adjustments of full-ACR and you could still link PSE as a final editor step of ACR-type adjustments aren’t enough.
An alternative is to convert your CR2 files to DNGs and then they’ll open in older versions of ACR, like the one that came with PSE 8, assuming you can still install that.

  • Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Adobe Bridge (CS4) and Camera Raw 5.4

I use a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and store in RAW-format.
The camera is updated with latest software etc.
I have the Adobe Design CS4 package on my computer and updated to the camera raw 5.4 version (bridge/photoshop/etc).
All this is updated to last versions / updates etc.
I upload my pictures from the camera to my computer.
When I inspect the files with the Canon software such as "Digital Photo Professional 3.6.1.0" or "Canon Utilities ZoomBrowser EX 6.3.1" (this are the latest versions and updates)  the files are copied correct to my computer.
The files can be opened with the canon software without any problem and can be modified and converted and all normal operations can be performed.
The files can also be converted to ".jpg" and no problem occurs.
The problem starts after the folder with the pictures (in RAW-format) has been opened / viewed in Adobe Bridge or after Adobe bridge is started.
After starting and viewing with bridge the folder only some of the file become corrupted and cannot be used anymore. So the majority of the files remain OK but some files become corrupt.
A part of the picture is visible partly, the remaining part are lines, dots, squares etc and the divisions of correct picture and corrupted seems to be at random. There is no structure in the way the corrupted file are shown in bridge. Please look at the enclosed picture in this message.
The files can be opened in Camera Raw and Photoshop but they show the corrupted file and can be stored etc.
    But the picture is destroyed.
Does anybody have a sollution or similar problems?
    Best regards

There are forums for Bridge, Camera RAW and Photoshop.
Any of them would be better than posting here.
