Using LiveCycle PDF Generator with VSD viewer

Hi everyone,
Is it possible to use PDF generator to convert vsd files into pdf file with only installing a Microsoft VSD Viewer instead of the standard complete Microsoft Office Visio Install ?

1 - Yes, sort of.   The LiveCycle products require the LiveCycle foundation classes to run, but you don't need to install the other modules (Forms, ReaderExtensions, etc). With Generator you will get some "common" modules, such as Assembler. To merge two documents in the manner you mentioned, you will use Assembler.
2 - Yes. LiveCycle modules run on a J2EE platform and have a full Java API. The client jar files come with the product. Java Documentation can be found online at:http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/programLC/javadoc/index.html

Lars, I cannot use Vista 64bit as my software maunfacturer warns AGAINST this. vista 64 is fraught with issues that make it unusable for my purposes. And FYI I have managed to install XP 64bit and most of the drivers are on the manufacturers websites and installed perfectly. :D
Jeffrey, the video card is not marked as "unknown" It is called a "standard VGA adapter" and I have tried many things even decompiling the nvidia driver installer to use as a manually chosen driver. And so you know, the Nvidia drivers I have tried to install have all been for their 'M series" which are all for "mobile" i.e. not "desktop" cards.
I feel that your suggestion od the HD QUAD CORE having no impact on video, may be a little uninformed as all the writeups I have read, suggest that it helps take the video processing load off the cpu. Again, I am no expert, merely keen to see if I can get this thing running without Windoze Vista.

In order to convert DOC/DOCX to PDF, you need to install MS Office and also Acrobat on your LiveCycle Server. But there is no need to install any software on the client. You can only buy and install PDF Generator ES solution component. Once you installed PDF Generator you can invoke it through Java API or Web Services.

I think I found something: the webapp.jar in adminui.war in LiveCycle.ear contains the FeatureBean class and is different once I have PDF Generator included. I tried to exchange this jar file. Now I have access again to the administrator webapp.
However, I get an error message when I try to convert images with Acrobat:
"The service to convert the document could not be looked up."
Can this have something to do with the exchange? It's a strange error message because Acrobat is installed together with PDF Generator.
Or could it be because I have also Adobe Reader 7.0.8 installed?
Any ideas would be really appreciated.

If pdf generated with Bullzip, opens with problems in text (missing, weird characters, etc...)

pdf opening in new tab shows problems with text. If pdf was generated with Adobe acrobat, works fine. If pdf generated with Bullzip, opens in new tab, but with problems.

Has anyone installed Adobe LiveCycle PDF generator on a Unix platform for converting Microsoft Office documents to the PDF format?
- How does it work, since Microsoft Office cannot be installed on the Solaris platform?
- I read that Open Office needs to be installed on the Unix m/c for the actual conversion. Is it True?
- What is the quality of the PDF's generated when the PDF Generator is on Unix platform?

Is there any Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator for PS EXPERTS?

There seems to be a lot of question about this product with no answers. When you call Adobe you get the run around.
How is the product supposed to work?
When a basic installation is performed it does not do what is expected.
If you are suppose to be able to create Postscript files or drop Office documents in a watch folder or email them to the server and it converts them. Why does it not work? These are the basic function not a lot of development required. The only files that are converted are .PS and then it appends .PDF to the end of it. (test.ps.pdf) if fails on all office documents with an "Error Code: 11,020 Reason: The source file you submitted is not supported by this version of PDF Generator. If this product does not support this function then why did the installation require you to install Office before the Livecycle product is installed?

How to use a PDF template with OA Framework

I have a question that is hopefully quite simple. I am using JDeveloper to add a button to a page that will create a PDF document.
According the the documentation it should be quite easy to merge a PDF template file with an XML data file to produce an output PDF file.
The problem I have is that although I can create the XML data file OK - the output PDF file is not produced (the file gets created but it is 0 bytes - I don't get an error message though). Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I haven't registered the PDF template file in Oracle Applications - but that shouldn't be the problem should it? Or is it better to use a PDF template that is registered in Oracle Applications?

I have been successful in displaying a PDF file in an OAF page but I had to generate the xml data using a PL/SQL package rather than the data template. I know it works because Concurrent Requests using the XDODTEXE executable work and this uses DataProcessor.

GilAltOneMT font missing in PDF generated with FM8.0p266

Hi -
Long time Frame user, reluctantly "upgraded" to Frame 8.0/Tech Comm Suite within the past 4 months. Never had issues generating PDF files using the PDF printer driver from Frame 7.0. With Frame 8.0, for some reason the font "GilAtOneMT" will not appear in the PDF file, which is an issue as this font is used as our sans serif font for headers, etc. Why is this particular font such an issue?
I only experience this issue with Frame 8.0. Use same font in PhotoShop CS3 and Illustrator CS2, and no issue generating PDFs from these apps with this font.
Not in the mood to rework all of our Frame templates to switch over to some other font, but looks inevitable.
Multiple users here having the same issue. The only commonality that we have is that we have all upgraded to Frame 8.0 and now have this issue. We have been using these same Frame templates for 5+ years, since Frame 5.5.

Access restriction for PDF generated with Smartform

Hi there,
I am generating a PDF from a Smartform using convert_otf.
What I would like to do is, add restrictions for the generated document just like in Acrobat Professional.
For example:
Printing: yes/no
saving: yes/no
cut, copy paste: yes/no
Is there a way to pass this Parameters to the PDF?
