Using Mac email program with Web-based email

I'm wondering if there is a way to use the Mac email program with Web-based email (like Gmail, etc).
If this is possible then how can I set up my system.

Yes you can use gmail using Mail software.
Following is prosidure:
1)-Login to ur gmail A/s
- Go to settings click Forward POP Settings the click Enable POP and click Save.
2) open mail-POP settings
-Type your Email address, Password,
Incoming server:pop.gmail.com
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Type and give the Bolded server in specified path
and follow the instruction.

Can't send mail with web based email (ipad)

My son is trying to set up his work based website email to his ipad home screen so he can directly send and receive emails.
He has set it up and he can receive emails but he can't send emails.
His web based mail (Mr Site) does not have an outgoing SMTP server and I have contacted BT who were less than helpful, he just said to use mail.btinternet.com but he still can't get it to work.
Any ideas please?

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
He will need to go through something called address verification using his BTinternet email address. See my shortcuts, option 0e. IN essence it needs the work email account associated with a BTinternet email address, then in his iPad mail client (or indeed via BTYahoo! webmail) he should be able to send emails "From" the non BTinternet account. Webmail is easy, but in a mail client it needs extra steps to get the smtp area correct.
If he doesn't have a BTinternet email address, then he will need one - which can be a sub account off of your primary.

Feature request - iSync with Gmail, other web-based emails

It would also be great if you could iSync the Mac's Address book with Gmail and other web-based email services.
I know I can export contacts and load them in to Gmail. But you have to remember to do this each time you change an email address in the Mac's address book.

I just got this email back from Plaxo. Apparantly Plaxo does not sync Address Book with GMail, yet. But they are planning to offer this feature in the future. Although he does not say whether this will be an automatic background synchronization.

You can go ahead and download the Plaxo toolbar for Mac using this link "http:www.plaxo.com/downloads" and install the Plaxo toolbar for your Mac and download your contacts from your Plaxo online to your Mac address book. However, as of now you will not be able to sync your Plaxo online account with Gmail account. Very soon we will have this as a Plaxo feature.

How do I get "mailto:" links to work with my web based email?

I use the web based email from godaddy.com called workspace. I can't get the mailto: links to work with firefox. I did find a code that makes the correct compose window to open up but it doesn't input the email address.
Also, a related problem with my email is that you can't copy an email address and then paste the email address into the email. Pasting is not allowed with firefox but works ok with Internet Explorer

Unable to access Web based emails with latest version of Firefox

Having downloaded the latest version of Firefox, which I am very impressed with, I am unable to open my web based emails, I get the following message "You have undefined new mails in your inbox".
I have to use Internet exploree to view my emails.
Any way to change this.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Submit form using web based email service

I regularly get sent forms by my printers which I fill in to approve print jobs. There's a submit button the forms which has always nicely opened up Mail (Mac OS X) in order to send a data file that the sender can read. However, I've just recently started using a different email client (Postbox) and I get this error from Adobe Acrobat...
The SendMail doesn't know how to talk to your default mail client. Please select a different mail application to use.
I can't find a way to change the settings though. I used to be given the option between sending via a desktop or web based email service but a while ago I ticked the box to 'not show this message again'.
Anyone got any ideas how I can maybe use Gmail or similar to send these forms?

Dear Frances,
The "Submit by Email" button enables to submit your form data in two modes.
1) Default Email Application (MS Outlook)
2) Use Webmail
You can use option 2 to submit form data through Webmail.

Using Nightly to access web-based email - Won't allow me to send an attachment - Please Help

I sometimes need to access my email through a browser. When using nightly I have, on several, been unable to send a file attachment. A few minutes ago I got a pop-up that said that nightly was blocking all attachments for security reasons. - The popup disappeared before I was able to read it fully. The attachment was an innocuous document from a standard word processor with no macros or other potentially hazardous content. I do, from time to time, need to send attachments to colleagues using a web-based email interface. How can I get Nightly allow this?

In about:settings please check the list of pop up exceptions under Content. It is also possible to click on the icon next to the url and look at "Page Info". From this menu under Permissions see is pop ups are blocked.

I use Go Daddy web based email....when I try to Compose a new email firefox automatically opens the upload page as if I am going to add a attachment. I have to close the pop up to write an email.....each time! Help?

open web based email
choose compose
email/compose window opens
followed immediately by upload file window as a pop up
I can close it and continue with email but this is not very convenient.

Sorry I have no solution but this happened to me after Hulu told me to clear my browser cache (history) to be able to watch a video that stopped abruptly (Hulu lied; you rarely need to clear the cache.)
You can back up your browser history to keep this from being a problem in the future. This just started today. I can't open my web based email with godaddy. I can see the item when it loads but it will not open to read, reply or anything else.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Web-based email & Mail

Hi folks
I currently have a yahoo email address which works fine with the iPhone but not Mail on my Macbook. I hear this is down to yahoo being difficult. I also have been having problems with my email anyways so am looking to switch to another web-based email that works with Mail.
At this stage I do not want to pay for this, so would appreciate any feedback from some free web-based email accounts that you have used. Best? Which ones to avoid?

gmail (google mail) works excellently with both iPhone and Mail on Mac. You can use it with IMAP, something you cannot do with Yahoo, unless you have a paid account (as far as I know).

Treo 800W Can't get email from desktop outlook b/c no exchange server or web-based email

Help... I used to use the "personal business connection" from Sprint before they discontinued using it last fall to get my email. They housed it on their server by having it sink with my desktop outlook 2000 in real time, then my device (Treo 800w) would sink with their server so that I could respond to email on my treo and it would look the same in my desktop outlook as it did on my treo. It would show messages read that i had read, and my sent treo messages would appear in my desktop outlook sent folder. Since Sprint has discontinued "business connection-- personal", I have not been able to get my email in the same fashion. I don't have an exchange server at work and use POP3 email but it is not a commercial service like yahoo or gmail. I download my email to my outlook and primarily use outlook on my desktop but want to be able to use my treo to view and respond to email on the fly and have it show the messages I have already addressed in my desktop outlook. Any ideas? I am desperate and very frustrated that Sprint discontinued business connection. Every application I have looked at either required an exchange server or that I house all my email on a web-based site and quit using my desktop outlook. Thanks....

Yes, I was very bummed when Sprint discontinued BCPE.
SEVEN Networks, the company that made BCPE for Sprint, has several new products available under beta. None of them seem to offer exactly what we had with BCPE. In fact, one forum posting says that our style of usage (sync'ing directly with the data stored in the Outlook data file) was never actually a supported configuration. Distribution through a web based email account

I don't mind telling you that ADOBE has been the worst learning experience of my life, the worst most unimaginative, uncreative website and instruction process ever. Pathetic. Having said that, note the last line of the "distribute" advice in their help base. Specifically,
"if you want to distribute it through a web-based email account, the process is slightly different" AND NO WHERE DO THEY TELL YOU HOW IT IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT OR HOW TO DO IT.
Anyone have any clues?

If you want to distribute the form immediately and through your default email application, you can complete the distribution process entirely in the Distribute Forms wizard. However, if you want to distribute the form later, or if you want to distribute it through a web-based email account, the process is slightly different.

I have a similar problem. When I'm logged into my company's online bank, I sometimes need to e-mail some account transcripts, but the Adobe reader pop up a box, and telling it's been a fatal error, and need to be shut down. I couls easily do that before, but suddenly it don't work. What is the problem with this program? It really sucks!!

Web Based Email

Hi, Really want to get an Ipad but need to know the answer to the following, sales staff at certain retailers are useless, shame no Apple Store nearby.
I want to be able to view an email account via the web, (i have several email accounts, and dont want to use the dedicated MAIL app for this particular email)
I can view this email account on my touch via the web, but i need to be able to store files (word, excell, pdf) on the Ipad and then attach them to emails to send. I also need to be able to view files that are sent to me as well.
I have read people having problems with attachments through the Mail app, but have people used web based email to send attachments and view them ok.

My web based mail browser allows file attachment on my MBP but the same window on the iPad does not !
I usually only send photo so I am unsure if this will work for other file formats but to send a photo I locate it on the iPad and then at the top right is an options button click that and you are given the option to email the file, click that and an iPad mail message window opens ( in my case showing the photo ) for you to add the address and any written message.
