Using MAC Keyboard with Vista
I am using a dual OS, Mac & Vista. The Mac USB keyboard works occasionally with Vista. It may work for a few minutes then stop completely. I loaded the Bootcamp drivers with Vista as instructed. Is there and updated driver that will allow me to use the Mac Keyboard with Vista? Vista has no answers.
Just to update anyone interested, I installed Vista and MCE separately without using BootCamp. Just like a regular PC. I did not know it was possible I found it by accidentally. After which I installed the drivers and am currently using the Mini as an HTPC. I don't have osx installed on it. everything works perfectly. no problems at all. I think BootCamp creates more problems.

When I click on an email address embedded in a web page, a page would open in my email program with this address in the "To" line. I recently installed Microsoft Office 2010 and now when I click on an email address nothing happens. I am not sure if this is due to Office 2010 or a Firefox problem. I use a PC with Vista.

I am unable to a remove lines from a document originally done in 2004 using Mac Word 2004 while running it on Pages. Using Mac Mini with OSX 10.9.4.
Tried to delete lines. Delete is not highlighted in Pages.

Menu > Pages > About Pages
The line could possibly be an underline or a paragraph border or a line which is a separate object underneath the rest of the text.
Probably it is a paragraph border.

Using eMac keyboard with iMac help needed.
I have an iMac from around 2009, at the weekend the keyboard stopped working and until I can afford a replacement a friend has given me an old eMac keyboard he had spare to use in the meantime (which could be a while).
Just this morning I've realised that it doesn't have some of the function keys that the iMac keyboard has. The one I'm missing the most is the F3 key that shows me all the windows I have open at once. Something I find invaluable as I use my mac for music production and helps sort through and find all the plugins I have open.
Is there a way to achieve what the iMac F3 does with a combination of keys on the eMac keyboard?
Thanks
Andy. With older Mac keyboards, try using the Command key with the F keys to see which F keys do what function.

Using mac keyboard on Windows, how to get all CS shortcuts working like on OSX?
Hi!
Firstly, thanks all for any tips/help, it's very much appreciated!
My girlfriend is using a mac at work to design with CS 5. At home she has a windows 7 laptop though.
It seems one of the biggest issues is that the shortcuts aren't working the same, which reduces her productivity so much that it does not make any sense to work from home.
So we still have one of the fancy apple USB keyboards at home and I was wondering if it's possible to get CS working with an apple keyboard under windows so that she can use the same shortcuts which she uses at work with CS5 under OSX?
Thanks for your help in advance!
ThomasUsing a Mac keyboard for the PC won't help. It will probably map the command key to the Windows key. Bob's answer is right on the money. She has to retrain her muscle memory, when at home use control, when at work use command.

Using Yamaha Keyboard with GarageBand
Tried my Yamaha keyboard with GarageBand for the first time. To my amazement, it worked. However:
Cant' seem to get the volume up (on the Yamaha Keyboard). Checked all the volume settings, including the iMac's System Preferences, GarageBand volume settings but it's still relatively "soft."
I'm using a USB 2.0 15-ft. cable. Could the length of the cable have anything to do with this. Would a shorter USB 2.0 cable.........say 4-ft. ...... make a difference?
Thanks in advance for your suggestionsdon't think I have some of the features to control
sound you suggest. (GB's Track Fader? Master Volume
Fader? "Generator" settings. "Pencil" icon.)
You have all these things. Each track has a fader (volume control), and at the bottom right of the window is the Master Fader (volume Control). Select a track and open Track Info ("i"nfo) icon), click details, and the pencil icon to the right of the Generator PopUp menu.
preferences, it does not show that USB port as a line
in......
Because it is NOT a line in. MIDI ≠ Audio.
just internal mic and audio line in
As it should be.
I don't understand why, when going to the audio
settings........both on Mac audio preferences and
GarageBand..........it doesn't show that USB as an
audio line in.
Because MIDI ≠ Audio
Also tried with Sound Studio...........a music
recording application that came with my iMac when I
purchased it a couple of years ago. It has worked
with the Mac's audio line in and with the internal
mic.........but doesn't pick up anything from the
keyboard via USB cable in.
Because there is no Audio to pick up. MIDI ≠ Audio.
Could the length of my USB cable have anything to do
with this? I am using a 15-ft. USB 2.0 cable.

I intend to use the mac mini with a 26" HD LCD TV with a resolition of 1366 * 768. Can anyone tell me if this will give a good quality display?
I intend to use the mac mini with a 26" HD LCD TV
with a resolition of 1366 * 768. Can anyone tell me
if this will give a good quality display?
That would depend on the quality of the TV. I am using my mac mini with a Samsung 26 inch HD tv. It works fine at that resolution using the VGA connector on the TV but If I use a DVI to HDMI connection to samsung wont let me use the native resolution which is annoying. So until there is a fix for this I have to use the VGA connection. -
Using Yoga keyboard with monitor
How can I fold the screen over, like you would do to use the machine as a tablet, but place it screen down to use the keyboard on the desk with a 27" monitor? Right now the keyboard deactivates when I fold the screen all the way over.
The screen res is QHD but the screen is ONLY 13" so on the ultrabook you wont be able to read it well when 2 screens are side by side.
If you plan to put 2 screens side by side on external monitor/TV, it will depend on the resolution of your monitor/TV as to how much you can see.
I dont think this is the right choice unless you travel a lot, write while travelling, watch movies, listen to songs etc. casual stuff.
If you really want a ultrabook, you cannot go wrong with this, its beautiful, artistic and powerful enough for your daily tasks. The keyboard is great IMO but it has less feedback since the device is so thin, so that is a personal preference.
I will get back to you again in the evening.
(Also, Surface is an option for you with similar price, I dont like it coz the keyboard costs extra and is just a lousy one. Personally it has ugly looks)

Can I use Mac Mini with an S-video input?
I'm considering a Mac Mini because I have a young child who is mostly blind, but is at the age where he needs to start learning to use a computer. I want to go with Apple (I have been PC my whole life) because of the excellent VoiceOver features baked into the OS--- Windows doesn't have anything comparable.
I'd like to wire this thing up to my HDTV, because my child does have some vision and the 52" screen will actually provide useful images to him; but it's a nearly 15 year old HDTV that does not have an HDMI input, just S-Video and RCA plugs.
Is there an acceptable adapter out there that will allow me to use the Mac Mini with S-video or RCA plugs without having to buy a new 50+" TV just for the Mac Mini?I found this.

You may be able to find others by more Googling
You will also need a mini-display port to VGA adopter for the Mini. It plugs into the Thunderbolt port on the Mini -
I have obtained a used MacBook that still has the previous owners User ID associated with it, how do I go about changing it to me so that all the necessary accounts to reflect my user rights?
If you have a Used Mac that has the old user's account, then you also could have the old user's malware installed, which is collecting all your financial account information. Likely? Probably not. you want to take the chance?
You should erase the drive completely and re-install the OS.
If you don't want to do that, create a new user account, give it admin privileges, log into that account, and delete the old user's account. -
I have just purchased a new sony vaio, running vista. My older desktop is running xp. I had my IPOD and iTunes working just fine with this existing desktop. I just installed iTunes on the new laptop, and now want to use the iPod with this laptop. I attached it and attempted to sync, that the iPod is using an existing library, and wants to delete it and then use the new library. However, since the old library is on the old PC, it is not able to do this. It then says sync is complete, but none of my music is found on the new laptop. HELP.....
When you connected the iPod to your new laptop with the empty iTunes did you press "Erase and Sync"? This syncing does not transfer content from the iPod to iTunes, it transfers from iTunes to the iPod. If you linked to an empty iTunes it will have erased the original contents of your iPod and with nothing to sync will have left it blank.
Connect your iPod back to your desktop computer and it will sync the existing library back onto it again. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod
Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
