Using Mac OS 10.4.10 and Spell Catcher X ver 10.2.3

I am thinking of using this program but want to first make sure it creates no problems with my system. I'd be using the most up-to-date version of the program. Has anyone had problems with the program? Any other experience, good or bad?

I am using MAC OSX 10.9.4 and LR5 Ver 5.6. I can't drag LR to my second screen. It's always worked before. All of my other apps drag to the second screen with no issues. I've re-booted my computer and it did't help. Any ideas???

Make sure you are not in one of the full screen modes.
Window > Screen Mode > Normal

I too have only recently encountered this problem. I have been able to burn disks before but it keeps making all these weird sounds. It might be a hardware problem but the fact that everything else that uses a disk works I doubt it.

The easiest way to have Classic on an iBook g4.
1.     Install 10.4 and update to 10.4.11.
2.    Copy an existing Mac OS9 System folder to the hard drive.
3.    Open System Preferences and click Classic.
4.     Select the preferences you desire.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

If I buy a used Mac with Final Cut Pro and other software pre-installed, will they be updateable?

I want to buy a used Mac for video editing and there are alot of them with FCPX and other software already installed. If I buy one of these will I be able to do future updates to the software?

If they were downloaded from the Mac App store, no. In fact, the licenses are not transferable. Technically, it's not legal to sell you the machine with apps from the Mac App store still installed.

How can I use Mac OS 10.4.11 and 10.5.5 back and forth?

I installed Mac OS 10.5.5 onto my G4 Sawtooth, which is running on an upgrade processor at 1.3 GHz and 2 GB RAM. The machine also has been running with Mac OS 10.4.11. I love both Mac OSs. But it is cumbersome to restart the machine back and forth. Is there anyway that I do not have to restart the machine for switching the Mac OSs?

I'll check with OWC and see what they say. I have an ACARD 6880M AEC Controller attached to two internal HD. It caused two Maxtor HD,on e after the other, click-to-death. Since that, I removed the ACARD and have been using one HD without any more "clicking" noise. I posted in the thread below about my experience. Nobody had similar experience. Nevertheless, if OWC feels that ACARD can work with both Mac OS 10.5 and 10.4 at same time, I may consider to put the ACARD back and place another HD in and see if it works.

Using Mac Mini with Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom

I use Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 mainly as I am a photographer. It involves both programmes live and some huge PSD files kicking around. I would be interested in hearing from any one who does similar on a high end mac mini. I am thinking of getting the high end new i7 with 16g and an SSD.
Any good ?

While it will not deliver 'blazing fast' performance, it has tested OK with Photoshop CS6 MGE recently and it has faired decently well in some benchmark reports. Since the OP insisted Mac Mini, I think he can go for it. Also, since his work demands more 'Photo-specific' editing, I guess he should be good. Not much 3D I assume!

Can't see MTS files using mac os 10.9.5 and adobe premiere elements 12

I am using a MacBook Pro and OS is 10.9.5. Adobe premiere elements 12 does not recognize MTS files from my SD card. The OS does not see MTS files from the card as well...but...I have an MTS file on my desktop from before I upgraded from 10.6.8 that can be seen by both Adobe and the new OS.

What are you using as your Add Media/ for the import of your .mts on the SD?
Not sure if the following is a viable question, but....
What happens if you transfer the .mts on the SD card to your computer desktop and then try to
import the .mts into Premiere Elements 12 with its Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets?
But on reflection, if your OS and Premiere Elements are both not seeing the file, this does not
present as a Premiere Elements issue, rather an issue between the .mts format and your Mac computer.
If that is a valid observation, have you gotten any input on this from Apple?
Have you looked into converting these .mts files into H.264.mov or .mp4 before use?

Using mac os x w/safari and up to date adobe reader, can't print.

When I get a PDF bill image on safari and try to print it I get an Adobe Msg. "Can't print this". When I switch to Firefox browser I am able to print the same. Under Safari I have also saved the document and open Adobe Reader to print the saved file and still get the can't print msg. I'm using the up to date reader software. My MacBook is using OS X with Safari ver. 6.1.6. Can someone offer some help?

You might try printing any other PDF file using Safari and then check.
Please share the screenshot of the exact error message that you get.
You might need to install the updated version of Safari browser for MAC OS X i.e. Safari 7

Using Mac mail on iOS devices and Leopard Mac problem

My Mac is one of the last dual core types and can't upgrade to Lion. But I have an iPhone and iPad that are upgraded to Cloud. Now if I am able to get my Mobileme mail on the mac, I can't on the other devices. And if on the others, not on the Mac. Is it possible to access the same Cloud account on all devices? I've been through this with Apple and they say no problem. But it does not work. Can anyone walke me through it. I have checked the Apple instruction sheet on this to no avail.

You should be able to use iCloud mail on your Mac, however you will have to enter the settings manually. Unfortunately you will not be able to use the other features of iCloud for which lion is required. (calendars, contacts etc)

Hi microjac,
You should be able to open the desired windows and lock the Screenset using the Screenset menu in the global menu bar. Then save as a template. This works using an Apple monitor with a MBP so hopefully will work with any display.

Using mac.mail with windows VISTA and outlook

I have a new Toshiba laptop with VISTA and am having problems sending links or messages when not in mac.mail. The setup with windows mail is asking me to provide the names of the "incoming server and "outgoing server which I am unable to identify or find in mac.mail.
Can anyone help me to set this up properly in windows.
