Using MacBook Charger

I just got a new MacBook for my wife(btw, very nice machine) and I noticed the battery charger is significantly smaller than my MacBook Pro.
I also saw that the battery charger for the MacBook Pro is rated as 85W versus 60W in the MacBook.
My question is, can I use the MacBook charger to charge my MacBook Pro? It would be nice if I could do this as I can carry a lighter charger during travel.
Comments?
Thanks.

Thanks. Seems like the MacBook charger can charge MacBook Pro!!!
I tried it and I saw the light was on when connecting the MacBook adapter into my MacBookPro so I assume this is indeed working/charging.
In this case, if a MacBookPro owner wants to buy a second adapter, why should anyone buy a BIGGER and HEAVY adapter (in MacBook Pro) than a much smaller one in MacBook? And what is the purpose of having a 80W adapter when 60W is enough???

  • I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

Unfortunately, as recommended by the lady from CA, as long as the Mac is still associated with the Apple ID of the original owner, you can't even buy those iLife apps with that Mac. You will always get the alert to download them with the original owner's Apple ID.
As suggested by the chavo from España, you need the original owner to contact Apple Care* and request that the OS and the iLife apps be disassociated from his Apple ID. Then you should be free to OS X Recovery to resinstall the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac and install the iLife apps. Afterward, before using any of the iLife apps you need to open the Mac App Store (MAS) to the Purchases pane and Accept these apps into your MAS account's Apple ID. If you use any of the iLife apps before you have accepted them into your account, as per the app's Terms of Use, they all become one-trick-ponies that can not be downloaded onto another Mac or updated.

*If you bought the Mac from a 2nd hand shop and don't have access to the original owner, you may need to provide Apple a purchase receipt to offer proof of sale.

  • Using Macbook Pro charger with European sockets

I am studying abroad for a year in Denmark, and I currently live in US with a Macbook Pro. I have an adapter plug to fit the European socket, but do I need a special converter or anything for using the charger in Europe?

No — just the plug adapter.

  • How to charge and use macbook battery correctly.

    Hi, all!
I really worried about my battery life. Now it's okay, but I'm thinking about future.
When I'm using macbook it's plugged in AC. For night I plug it out. So is it right? Or I've got to charge it in other way?

It's ok to leave it plugged in as much as is convenient, e.g, overnight.  The computer manages all the charging. No over-charging will occur. Consensus in the community seems to be: It is good to use the battery every once in a while; daily is fine, but a minimum of once a month.  Avoid complete discharge of the battery.  Avoid extremes of temperature.  Apple - Batteries

  • Is it dangerous using macbook pro while charging?

Hi,did anyone experienced any electric issue when using macbook pro unibody while charging? When I use it during the recharge process the electricity pass trough my body.I can say that because one day when I was using it (with the hands on the keyboard) my girlfriend came and touched my face moving her hands on my cheeks and I felt a weird sensation like a vibration on my face so I unplugged the power cord leaving the hands on the keyboard (with palms near the trackpad) and I didnt feel it anymore. It is known that the electric fields can cause cancer.Am I in danger?I don't think it is a good thing that electricity pass trough my body anyway. There is any way to fix this problem?(a part of not using it while connected to the wall charger).Thank you

Some people are more sensative to EMF's then others. If there is a bad connection in your house or in your computer, then you may experience this more then others.
My guess is your house may have some faulty wiring somewhere and needs to be addressed. Get an EMF detector and see if you get spikes in the area of where your plug in your computer. Or rather, call an electrician who can check for these spikes around your house. Some houses, especially older ones, will have electrical problems, but even newer ones can have these since someitmes the laborer who installed it didn't know what they were doing or didn't bother checking.
get a surge protector for your electronics, especially your computer deivces.

  • My macbook will not turn on. Related to using wrong charger?

I used my macbook charger to charge a mac book pro and now my macbook will not turn on. The green light shows on the charger but it will not turn on. I am not sure it is related but what should I do?

Using one charger on another mac won't harm anything.

  • Macbook charger on Macbook Pro?

I forgot my charger for my MBP at home and want to know if I can use my buddies regular Macbook charger he's not using. TIA.
    Dave

Yes, you can use the MB adapter to run your MBP. But it won't provide sufficient power to charge the battery while you are using your MBP.

No computer can do a thing without using memory. 1.5 GB is very little. It's normal.
3 or so hours from a full charge may also be normal, for what you are doing. As batteries age, they don't last as long on a full charge as they did when they were new. All batteries eventually wear out, and are easily replaceable.
