Using MacBook Pro running 10.7, how do I copy a DVD that is NOT commercially created, but was created on a Mac using IDVD?
Having a DVD that I created on a Mac, how do I make additional copies? I know from reading some instructions, to use the Disk Utility, but from there I don't see the inserted DVD to be copied on the left side, as the instructions say for step #2. Please help

I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS6. I have the exact same issue.DVD's work perfectly, but audio cd's have stopped working. I think it's pretty recent, but can't confirm it because i don't use audio cd's daily. So I think it might be software related instead of hardware related. I Have a Macbook pro 15" mid 2009 running the latest OSX release.

Have an older 17 MacBook Pro, running OS 10.5.8. Software update says everyting is current. Mac doesn't have iCloud, preferences still shows MobileMe. Just bought new iPhone 5S. Mac won't recognize phone, says I need newer version of iTunes. Have no problem with computer recognizing old phone 3 or 1-1/2 year old iPad. I have a macbook pro with OSX Mavericks 10.9.5 and some keys randomly are not working. Specifically, the enter/return button, the "p", "0", ";", and all the function keys. What's really weird is that happens randomly. I've never spilled anything on it, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix this. Can anyone help? of course this happened after my warranty expired.

I don't know if this will help someone but I am posting this for that purpose. In the past when I first had this problem, I'd read a post somewhere (sorry, long ago, don't have the link) where an individual was having the same problem and they stated that when the MBP got heated, that's when the keys would stop working, and they went into the MBP and jiggle some stuff around (a specific wire, I'm not electronically inclined so I know NOT of what they spake!). Well I didn't want to do that but it always stuck in the back of my mind. I had given up, really, and was planning to take my MBP to the apple store. But by chance one night I left my MBP on the floor where it's cool, and when I turned it on, the problem went - poof! It seems there was some validity to the post that spoke about heat, because my problems started when I would stream foreign dramas on my MBP for hours at night, and I would hear the fan going off all the time, and in the mornings, my "p", "enter", "0", ";", and all the function keys would stop working.
So, maybe try keeping the MBP in a cool place when it's off. Since I've started doing this overnight every night (keeping it on the cool floor, out of reach of any big feet), I have not had a single problem with my keyboard.

I'm relatively new to Mac, and I'm still learning my way around my Macbook Pro 2010 from this summer. I was using terminal to do some class in work, and I keep noticing that the user name is something close to 'hello$' (as shown in the screenshot). I purchased this from another Mac user, and some of the settings weren't restored; like the user name and default language on the notebook was in Chinese.
In short, how do I change the user name. Also shown in the screenshot is my name, as you can see I already tried to change the computer's name/admin name.
also, if anyone could answer this simpler question: How do I save the preferences on my terminal to remain the color I have now. Everytime I quit Terminal it reverts back to the same black text - white background.

when I try to drag icons accross the screen thet are sticking for up to 10 seconds. I have just done a recovery (reformatted and reinstalled the OSX 10.8.5 but no change. The activity monitor shows nothing out of the ordinary. I have a MacBook Pro 2012. I am having perfomance isues with ProTools and I'm wondering if the 2 are connected. I installes TechTools 7 and ran tests on everything and it says all is good. Any idea's? Thanks!
JimIf you haven't already done so, eject the card by dragging its icon to the Eject icon in the Dock (where the Trash icon usually is.) Make sure the write-lock switch on the card is in the unlocked position. Then reinsert the card and test.
If there's no change, and the same happens with more than one card, the card reader is stuck in write-locked mode. I don't generally advise do-it-yourself hardware repair, but one ASC member managed to fix this problem. I haven't tried the fix myself and I can't offer any guidance beyond what's in that discussion. If you cause damage, don't expect your warranty to cover it. I suggest you instead make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store. -
How can I copy a webpage that will not let me highlight it, i.e. use the control c key strokes?
How can I take a picture of a webpage that will not let me use the control C copy command? In other words, on this particular website, I try to highlight a passage that I want to save and put in a document, but the highlighting will not work. I asked them about that, and they simply said they did not have that facility, but I think the issue is protecting their copyrighted material. I know there is some way to take a picture of the page, and then I can use my picture editing software to crop it and enlarge it.
Are you trying to take a "snapshot" in a PDF?
If the part of the page or PDF you want to capture is fully visible, you can use the Windows print screen function to capture it. Either use the Print Screen key to capture the entire monitor display, or Alt+Print Screen to capture the active window.
If you need to do this often, or if you want to save the snapshot straight to disk, or if you need more than fits in a single Windows screen shot, an add-on such as [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/fireshot/ Fireshot] can be handy. -

Hold down the mouse button while restarting. This should eject any disc in the drive. -
I am unable to eject a DVD. When I try the screen says "Supported dish not available." Before that a DVD stopped playing and the screen said 'DVD player encountere a system error -69902. How can I get the DVD out?

Running OS X Leopard 10.5.8 and was having issues with my version of iTunes 10.5.3 (freezing and getting rainbow spinny wheel, not allowing me to do anything, while importing music from a different folder into the iTunes). Anyway, so I uninstalled iTunes and went to download the newest version (10.7 i believe) and after downloading and attempting to install, i was alerted that I cannot install and run this application without having the newest version of OS X 10.6 i believe. So, what I'm ultimately trying to figure out is if I need to spend $130(that i do not have) on Amazon to get the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 then pay another $20 in the App Store to upgrade to Mountain Lion as well? I need to have iTunes on this laptop due to having an iPhone 4 that needs to be able to be synced on this computer. Bottom Line is, I don't have really have $150 to upgrade all this at the current moment just to get iTunes back on my system. Any suggestions or am I basically having to drop the $150 just to get iTunes back so I can sync my iPhone 4 again? Ugh, this *****, really wish i hadn't uninstalled that version of iTunes..HELP!!! thanks in advance..

Using MacBook Pro mid 2010 OS X 10.2.1 FF 29, yahoo mail not working.
This is a new problem, since the last FF upgrade. When I access my yahoo mail account, I can compose or open one message, then cannot continue, a freeze occurs. I have to go back to the mail icon, click on it, and then compose, to write another message. It all works smoothly in Safari. I have searched the posted suggestions and completed all: empty the cache, cookies deleted. All to no success. This problem is now about one week old.
Restarting in the "safe mode" answered the problem. While in Firefox, go to Help pull-down menu, select Restart with Add-Ons Disabled, then a pop-up box will ask if you want to Restart with add-ons disabled, select that.
Unfortunately, now all the adds appear during my inbox mail screen and I do believe that was the problem, but I am happy to have control over the mail account again. (This solution was suggested as an answer to someone else and I thought I would try it, because that person complained of the mail account in "Rogers.com" freezing with Firefox.) -

I have been reading that it is entirely possible for the previous owner to track & remote wipe the Mac if they so desire?!
I have reset the NVRAM a couple of times via the keyboard method - and then in terminal I ran: nvram -p | grep fmm
The result was:

What would be the procedure to erase and restore the computer - and ensure there is no possibility of the previous owner having access to the computer via iCloud / FMM?

I've read that just reinstalling the computer in this way does not stop a previous owner from gaining access to and remote wiping the computer... But then I've read quite a few differing opinions on how to go about the problem - without it appears a consensus
