Using Mail, Calendar and Delegated Admin

I�ve installed mail, calendar and delegated admin for one of the domains I�m hosting.
I can�t figure out where I can adjust the settings for service packages ex earth. I�d like to have 60 mb mail box in stead of 6. (Changing this on user level in LDAP is not an option.)
Any one who can give me some tips about where to change this?

Sounds like you need to change one of your Service Package templates. Alas, I've not had time to dive into that.
There is a default config setting for quota, that's global. If you set that, and don't put anything into the user's individual ldap entries, then everybody gets that quota:

I've just successfully installed the iCloud Control Panel on my PC (runs with Vista). Why does the iCloud Control Panel say "Install Outlook to use Mail, Contacts, and Calendars?" The Bookmarks (with Safari) and Photo Stream options are active, but the Mail (with Outlook), Contacts (with Outlook),and Calendars and Tasks (with Outlook) are not. I'm using Office Outlook 2007. it sounds like you were using iCloud. Go under Settings > iCloud and make sure the switch for Notes is ON (green side showing). If it's already on, turn it off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Your notes should sync up.

I am running outlook as mail, calendar and contacts and synching with icloud for my I phone. today, on my pc i cannot access my Calendar in Icloud or my Contacts in ICloud. Windows 7

Synchronizing n900 with Google Mail, Calendar, and...

I was unable to find any instructions on how to sync Google Mail, Calendar, and Contacts with my n900. So, I tried using the instructions for the Symbian v3/v5 phones. Two of three were successful. One of the successes does have a catch. So others don't have to spend the time I did experimenting here are the instructions for synchronizing Google Mail, Calendar, and Contacts with the n900 firmware v1.2009.42.11.
Gmail sync settings can be created on the n900 by either:
A. Activating the mail wizard by clicking on the "email" icon for the first time.
or
B. Within the "Settings" menu in the "Email" submenu press on the top status bar with "E-mail" pulldown and another submenu with a "New account" button will appear.
After you input your Gmail e-mail address most of the fields will populate themselves. In fact, almost ALL the fields will automatically populate themselves (finally effortless mail!). Just in case, check these settings:
For incoming server: port 993
For outgoing server: port 465
Calendar AND contacts sync settings can be created by:
1st Open settings menu.
2nd Open "Email for Exchange" submenu.
3rd Filling in the fields as:
a. Server: m.google.com
b. Port: 443
c. Secure connection: check yes
d. Conflict resolution: your choice
e. User name: [email protected]
f. Password: your password
g. Domain: leave blank
h. Synchronize e-mail: leave unchecked.
i. Synchronize calendar and tasks: check yes.
k. Calendar: N900 (to populate existing calendar) or create a new one
j. Synchronize calendar back: your choice
k. Synchronize completed tasks: your choice
l. Synchronize contacts: check yes
m. First synchronization: your choice
A note of caution: For this sync to work your calendar must be empty. If you have already used the synchronization tool to transfer the calendar data from your old phone to your n900 it will not allow you to write the Google calendar data from the server into it. The n900 calendar will remain as a local, unsynchronized calendar and you must create another calendar for synchronization purposes. However, I believe this is not the best way to go. Instead, if you have already transferred your calendar data from your old phone open the n900's calendar, select all, and delete. Then the Google server will synchronize its data with the N900 calendar.

Yes. Just sync them to the same iTunes library. iTunes will keep track of each so you can put what you want on each. I do this with a 3G and iPad2. Note that each device will have it's own backup.

New iPad Calendar app and E-mail, Calendar and Contacts setting crashes

The Calendar app has just started to crash. I cannot open the app at all, not even after forced quit. Tried to remove the calendar in the Settings app, but noticed that the E-mail, Calendar and Contacts section also hangs. What to do? It works fine my iPhone.

I agree this is most needed, but also for the iPhone & iPod touch devices. They should also allow changing what day is the start of the week (instead of being stuck with Sunday). iCal actually allows you to have the week view scroll by day, so you are always looking at the next 7 days, versus some dates in the past.

Backup Gmail using Mail.app and IMAP

I would like to backup my Gmail emails using Apple Mail. I have IMAP turned on in Gmail. I know I need to add the account in Mail but I'm not sure what to do after that. I'm thinking I need to create a local mail folder in order to store the emails.
Also, how could I automate this? Is Mail the best option for this scenario? Again, I'm only wanting this as a backup for Gmail.

I got this all working, there's even this literally great guide on my superuser post (http://db.tidbits.com/article/10253) but IMAP generates a lot of repeated files due to gmail labels nature.
Anyone knows a way to circle around this and still be able to use IMAP and labels with mail.app and gmail?

Jes3 and Delegated Admin

I'm setting up a demo of JES3 Messaging for a customer with the Delegated Admin. It seems to work for I can create users with the correct attributes. These users can log into Messagent express and can see their mail but cannot send outgoing mail. Also I can't pop from the command line fror any of these users but sending mail to them from he command line does work. This seems to be probles with MailAllowed Services, but it seems ok on a ldapsearch (see below).
Synopsis of results:
I can send mail to these users with a telnet to port 25. But MExpress canot send mail from any of these users.
Messaging Express smtp error:
"Not authorized to sned messages"
But MExpress get's incoming mail for these users.
Messager Express gets mail for the users but pop fails:

I had the same problem. When I created a user account through the Delegated Admin interface the user could log into Communications Express, but was unable to send outgoing email. I then created another user account using the command below and this user is able to send email. I have not quite figured out the significany difference yet.

we have two distinct project. each project must have delegated admin (manage user and group) : each admin must see only its users and groups...
we have apply this :
1/create specific admin groups
2/ create specific acces level (view object/general +add objects/content folder all rights/system user all rights/system usergroup)
3/ on user and groups/manage top level security/all group :
add the two admin groups and apply acces level
4/ on each group and subgroup remove acces on the admin group that does not (because each admin group is in inherited rigth...)
this work, but not for for user level, delegated admin can't create user and if we apply top level security acces level , the admingroup can see ALL user. it's not that we want...
have you ideas?

Hi Phil!
I think it is designed as is - but did you try to use Windows AD Groups.
You can enable specific windows AD groups to BO. These will be created automatically the first time they logon, or you can trigger an AD refresh. So the users are created automatically.
You admins could then have the rights to see the users only and to see/edit their own set of Groups, where they can put these users to. Also you can define which admin sees which objects (reports, universes, connections, ...)
But: you will get an issue if you loose/change your AD connection to your server, then everything must be redone.
