Using Mail, why are several versions of sent messages ending up in Trash?

Bought the Pro a month or so ago and recently has an operating system update to 10.9.2.  Am using Mail to pick up mail from Server - and all appears to be working fine.  But, when I send a message, several versions of it and appearing in Trash.  A copy does go into Sent Items and th emessages are getting to addressees - but why are several versions of messages appearing in Trash.
The versions appear to be at different levels of 'editing' - just very strange an dnever seen it before.
Any ideas please
Tony

The only thing I can find in the preferences that refers to drafts is this:
Perhaps untick Store draft messages on the server. But I'm not sure if that will definately work or not. Either way, it's shouldn't be too much of an issue.

  • Why are many of my sent messages in Mail 2.1.3 getting marked as Junk?

I have both sent messages (about 75% of them) being automatically marked as junk mail, and I also have many email messages coming into my inbox that are being marked as junk (even if their names/ email addresses are in my address book).

  • How to change the default JRE when there are several version of JRE in Sys

How to change the default JRE when there are several version of JRE in System?
    i have installed j2sdk1.5.0 then installed j2ee1.4,then installed Weblogic6.1 which use jdk1.3
    Now the JRE is jdk1.3\bin
When run class that was compiled with jdk1.5,throw:
    java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError
How can i change the jre to 1.5?

There is a workaround to move from 1.5 version to the older 1.4 version. But this could be specific to the browser setting the JRE version.
    Excerpts from sun docs:
However, a user can still run older versions. To do so, launch the Java Plug-in Control Panel for the older version, then (re)select the browser in the Browser tab.
    Example:
Assume you are running on Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Internet Explorer, have first installed version 1.4.2, then version 5.0, and you want to run 1.4.2.
Go to the j2re1.4.2\bin directory where JRE 1.4.2 was installed. On a Windows default installation, this would be here: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin
Double-click the jpicpl32.exe file located there. It will launch the control panel for 1.4.2.
Select the Browser tab. Microsoft Internet Explorer might still appear to be set (checked). However, when 5.0 was installed, the registration of the 1.4.2 JRE with Internet Explorer was overwritten by the 5.0 JRE.
If Microsoft Internet Explorer is shown as checked, uncheck it and click Apply. You will see a confirmation dialog stating that browser settings have changed.
Check Microsoft Internet Explorer and click Apply. You should see a confirmation dialog.
Restart the browser. It should now use the 1.4.2 JRE for conventional APPLET tags.

My system (Windows XP) has the version 1.5_09 set as the default. However i just installed JRE 1.5_06 and would like to revert back to _06 as the default JRE..

Thanks, Clay. I wonder if the file of sent messages continues to grow until it consumes all available storage space, or is there a cap on it? It seems strange that Apple didn't include an easier way to delete files that are no longer needed. My email account is POP, so the IMAP suggestion doesn't help me..

This is going to be easy! Just log in http://vz.to/1e948q1, click on "Send and Manage Messages from the My Device section that appears when hovering your mouse over "My Verizon" next to "Support" at the top. Please know that iMessages will not show up in our records as they use data instead of texts.

  • Some sent mails do not appear/are not saved in "sent messages" and are lost

i work with mail and 4 different imap accounts. about every 15th sent email "gets lost". i.e. i can follow the sending process in the activity window, and i hear the sending confirmation tone. and, usually, the mails even reach the receiver. BUT, the mails do not appear/are not saved in the "sent messages" folder and are lost. this is very unsettling, as there seems to be no recognizable pattern. can anyone help, or should i change to "entourage"? big thanks for replies

    Hi Bassolino and David,
I, too, have had this intermittent issue and wonder if you had found a solution?
In the past 3 weeks, two messages have been sent from my mac mail account, using the mail application (the only apparent common factor being that both messages had iphoto attachments), the recipients have received them - only I do not have a copy in my 'sent' folder.
They are not stored on the macintosh server either...
I have not altered any settings and this intermittent issue has just emerged.
Any help from 'Top Users' would be welcome. Thanks.

  • Why are the emails I sent out being held in my outbox, and how do I resend them

why are the emails that I have sent out not going to the recepiants but instead being held in my outbox, and how do I resend them?

This problem is generally caused by not having a connection to the ISP mail sender (send and receive authenticate and operate independently).
    Mail > Window > Connection Doctor ...
    ... to look into it.

  • When using "Mail" where are my emails saved?

Just wanted to know if by using "Mail", are my emails stored on my computer or are they still accessed via a server out in the ether?

There are two basic protocols: POP and IMAP. See What is the Difference between POP and IMAP Mail Server? for a good comparison.
POP does not store your messages on a server. They are downloaded to the computer. IMAP stores everything on the server rather than on your computer. This means your mail is accessible from anywhere and from any computer.
Because IMAP accounts use server storage they cost money. POP accounts may often be free because they do not use any server resources.

  • Sync to Apple Mail - Why are my Gmail emails duplicated?

    All,
Does anyone know how to get the iPhone mail actions (deleting, reading, responding to an email) via GMmail to be synchronized with my Mac running 10.4.10 Tiger, and Mail? It seems "inconvenient" to delete messages on my iPhone, only to have to redelete them on my desktop after I've synced.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    MB Pro 2.0GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   iPhone 1.0

You're not doing anything wrong. This is basically one of the problems with POP, compounded by the way Gmail wants you never to delete anything. If Gmail had IMAP, it would work more or less the way you want it to.
You can play around with the setting on the iphone:
Settings : Mail : [gmail account] : Advanced : Delete from Server
If you set that to "when removed from Inbox," it might do what you want. Please report back if it does - I'm a little worried it might have unexpected behavior and delete too much. (You could set up a second, dummy gmail account to test it on.)

  • Mail 4.1 suddenly takes another SENT Messages folder

Since a few days, another SENT Messages folder is used by Mail to store my sent e-mails. I'm using 2 Macs and one iPhone. Before, all 3 devices used the same SENT Messages folder. However, at the moment my 2 Macs use the SENT Messages ([email protected]) folder to store the sent e-mails, while my iPhone still uses the 'normal' SENT Messages folder. I have no clue why my Macs suddenly decided to use the SENT Messages ([email protected]) folder (so with an e-mailaddress behind it).
If you have any idea why this happened, please let me know. Any help will be appreciated! If you need some more information, also let me know!

I'm not sure why you have to Sent mail folders. You can report bugs here.
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
One more thing to try. Quit Mail if it's open.
    Locate this file. com.apple.mail.plist
Move that file to the Desktop. Launch Mail.
If it functions as it should, go to Mail/Preferences. Make note of your Mail preferences, then delete that .plist file.

  • Sending mail with Cc and copy in sent message box

Since I have the last OS X 10.6.6 update, I dont receive anymore the Cc copy which I send to myself
and have only the copy of the sent message in the sent box (messages envoyés)
Similarly I cannot send a mail to myself as a verification process of my external mail provider. The copy is stored in the sent copy box, but it doesnt arrive in the in box (boite de reception)
How can I get back to the former situation in which I could send copies to myself or send mail to myself
    Thanks for any hint

    The first exception is this:

The second exception is probably due to a configuration error
