Using Microsoft Remote Keyboard on TX2510us with Windows 7

Hi,
I updated my TX2510us with Windows 7 Ultimate, Media Center Edition.  Since the update, I've not been able to use the built-in remote or a Microsoft Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center Edition.  Neither of these are recognized by the IR port.  I've searched for driver updates for the IR port, but haven't been able to find any.  Anyone else come across this & have a solution?
Thanks!

Device manager installs a generic windows driver. It is always best to refer to the laptop manufacturer site for the drivers that are meant to optimize your hardware.
To find the latest drivers for your tx2510us, just go to HP.com, click on Support and Drivers (somewhere on the top part of the HP page), select "Download Drivers and Software" and then type "tx2510us". You will then be given a list of operating systems, just select the one you are using and voila, you have your driver page for your laptop. ^^

  • Using Microsoft Remote Desktop on MacBook Air using OS Yosemite 10.10.2

    Hi,
I have recently acquired a MacBook and have been trying to use Microsoft Remote Desktop software to open a cloud based server called Universal anywhere.
It has been working fine but now keeps crashing at various points, like when I type in the server name, it opens up using MRD, I enter my username and password and it comes up saying 'Microsoft Remote Desktop closed unexpectedly'. It will sometimes let me
go a bit further and get into the actual cloud based system I am trying to use, but always crashes eventually at some point after I have input software.

    Hi,
I cannot confirm if it is supported for Remote Desktop Client to remote to the third party cloud server. Also RDC is keeping updating since released, you can also check if a newer version is available and if it will get this back to work.
In the meantime you can also test to use a Windows system to Remote to that server incase the issue occurs on server side.

What setting have you chosen in the view menu? Fit to Screen or Window.
And, in Preferences what have you set for Display?

I am using Lightroom 5.7, 64 bit with Windows 7 Professional. For no apparent reason, I now get an error message when I export a photo, say a raw image to a JPG. However, the exported image seems to be OK. But now I notice that my LR directory of folders in Library view does not show images correctly: If there is a folder with sub-folder(s), the folder will indicate 0 images, but the sub-folders show the proper number of images. What happened and is there a fix? I tried uninstalling Lightroom and re-installing, but problem persists.

Hello alltogether! I use PSE 7 on my PC with windows XP and now want to change to a new Mac with the newest version PSE . Is it possible to move all my albums and tags to that new version? Thank you very much for your kind answers! Candyapple111

    1. Install PSE 11 in windows, upgrade your catalog, then make a full backup  to a removable drive, like a usb drive, using the organizer's back up command. If you buy the boxed version you get discs for both platforms.
    2. Install PSE on the mac.
    3. Restore the backup to the mac. Point the restore to the .tly file in the folder, not the enclosing folder.

You can either use Office for Mac 2011 or use Boot Camp to run Windows or use a VM, such as Parallels Desktop to run Windows. Running Windows, you'd be able to use MS Office for Windows.

Probably won't work. You can buy a full license for CS6 which is already two versions and soon to be three out of date or you can subscribe to Creative Cloud.

  • Can't connect to windows 7 machine using microsoft remote desktop connection

I am unable to connect from my home network to the Windows 7 Professional machine at my office, using either Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection (2.1.1) for Mac or the open source CoRD program.
When connected to the office network (which is running MS Small Business Server 2011 Standard) both CoRD and MS RDC will connect to my desktop machine just fine! (My MacBook Pro runs Mountain Lion.)
From my home network, MS RDC will complain that it cannot find the Windows computer if I just use the Windows computer name. If I use the Windows machine's iPV4 address, it works on it for a minute and then tosses up this error message:
Using the IP address of the Windows machine, CoRD just grinds away for a minute or so and then times out.
I should add that using Internet Exporer under Parallels from home, I can get a little closer to success (after fidding around with ActiveX controls for a bit). I will get to the Windows login screen, but then I am told that my user password is wrong (which makes no sense at all)!

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop app ios7 to Windows 8.1 Pro

For anyone using an iPad to remote desktop to your Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit computer, I recently posted the following distress call in the Microsoft Community Windows - Windows 8.1 - Other Windows apps by Microsoft - Other.
A Microsoft Support Engineer there suggested I post it here instead. The 1st part is the distress part, the 2nd part is how I finally solved it and then a different problem started ...
    Part 1
Help, I'm going crazy trying to get this Microsoft Remote Desktop app on ios7 to connect to my computer running Windows 8.1.
I've added my computer name, user name and password, but even though it starts to connect it never does and gives me an error message saying:
    Timeout while resolving hostname
I've set up my computer to allow remote connections and allow connections only from computers running blah, blah, blah.
    What am I doing wrong?
In the past I was able to use logmein free without any problems until they stopped the free version. I can also get through using Team Viewer, so why won't the RD Client app work?
    Part 2
Doesn't matter now as I ended up working out that it didn't work with my computer name. What I had to do is go to cmd and type ipconfig to find
the right ip address and insert it where it asked for computer name and it worked! Of course, then it kept disconnecting, so I've totally abandoned it and will use Team Viewer instead (until I'm willing to try again).
So that's where I'm up to.
I didn't find anything useful in this TechNet article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn473013.aspx
So any suggestions on how to make Microsoft's RD Client app on ios work without disconnecting all the time?

    Hi,
For this issue,as Milos said, using the host name requires your network to resolve the host name properly through DNS.
So this issue is related to DNS.In many home network configurations only the IP address will work properly.
Regarding DNS,I suggest you check the configuration on the ipad.
Regarding how to add host name to IOS,I suggest you contact apple support for help.

  • Is Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 compatible with Mac mini?

Hi, I am thinking of getting a Mac mini. I currently have a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 which I use with my HP laptop. Does anyone know if it is fully compatible with Mac mini?

It is compatible -- to a certain extent.
The Windows key will become the  (Command) key. The Mac will let you know that the keyboard you plugged in couldn't be identified, so it will ask you to type the Z key, followed by the / key. Choose ANSI and you should be ready to use the keyboard. Any multimedia keys or extra keys not part of the standard keyboard layout will have no function. The F12 key becomes the Eject key.
(PS/2 keyboards are not compatible with the Mac, unless you purchase a $15 PS/2-to-USB converter.)

  • Using USB Devices in RDS VDI with Windows 8.1 Scenario

We are currently in a Upgrade Scenario from our old Windows XP/ Citrix XenDesktop Farm to a new VDI Installation. The new Installation is a Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Services Collection using Remote Desktop Virtualizaion Hosts on 2012 R2 too.
The VD- Clients are Windows 8.1 ENT and the User Endpoints are HP ThinClients with Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Enterprise.
The user connects to his Virtual Desktop via 8.1 Embedded (RDP8.1)
We want all new USB- Drives to map natively in the RDP- Session (RemoteFX USB redirect) so USB- Sticks or CD/DVD Drives are controlled by the VD-Client OS.
We understand, that there are so called "high level devices" which RDP is using per Default. We also know, that there is a GPO that redirects all "other supportet USB devices". That works well for e.g. Webcams, but we want to override the
"high Level devices" policy an simply map a e.g. USB Stick natively to the RDP Destination.
Currently the drive is mapped as a "high Level usb device" and the usb key has no drive letter, cant be formattet or used in other RemoteApp Sessions initiated on the VD- Client OS.
    The Systems we are using:
Windows 8.1 Enterprise - VD Client on HyperV 2012 R2 FO Cluster
Windows 8.1 Embedded Industry Enterprise as ThinClient OS
Windows Server 2012 R2 as Middleware (RDS VDI Collection, Web Access)
    Thank you in Advance
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
The USB devices that you would like to use in the remote session must be plugged in before starting Remote Desktop Connection; devices plugged in during the session will not be redirected.
Have you tried to reconfigure the USB device?
Please try to remove that device and reconfigure with use of following command and check whether issue get resolved.
    Set-RDVirtualDesktopCollectionConfiguration –CollectionName YourCollectionName –CustomRdpProperty "usbdevicestoredirect:s:{6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f }"
where {6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f} is the System-Defined Device Setup Class GUID.

  • Microsoft Office 2013 Not Compatible with Windows 8.1??

I have a customer that I recently installed Office 2013 onto their brand new Asus Q550. The entire setup went very well but after 2 hours of use with Outlook, the service just stopped. Curiously I went to Word, same thing! Anyone else having this problem
on their 8.1 device? If so.. Whats the fix???

    Hello,
I have been with Microsoft tech support and connected remotely with our machine. After 2 hours of trying, she finally gave up and asked me if I am already an Assured
member? This way they can help me thoroughly with my problem. I have to pay an amout, so they can help me fix it? I just told her that I will just have to fix it myself.
These computers are brand new and we bought 5 licenses of Office 2013. It only happened when I updated from Windows 8 to 8.1. It was working fine with Windows 8, but
when I updated the machines to 8.1 it stopped all our MS Office 2013 to work.
After a thorough research I was able to fix the problem with all our machines. This
problem has been seen to be caused by certain versions of the third-party DisplayLink User Mode Driver (dlumd32.dll), specifically versions of the dlumd32.dll file lower than 8.7.x.
You need to download and install the latest Display Link Software at http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php

  • Opening a port on Airport in order to use microsoft remote desktop

I have Microsoft Remote Desktop connection installed on my MacBook and I am able to connect to my company's VPN and use the remote desktop when I am using another wireless network but I am not able to connect at home using my Airport extreme. When I try to connect from home I receive the following warning: "You were disconnected from the Windows-based computer because of network problems. Verify that your network and Internet connections are working, and then try reconnecting to the Windows-based computer." I know all my settings for the VPN and Remote Desktop are correct because I can log on elsewhere. Someone mentioned that I may need to open/forward a port on my router in order for it to work. Does anyone have any information or know where I could find information that would be helpful??
    Thanks,
    Erin

This is from Apple documentation regarding their version of port forwarding.
AirPort Extreme uses Network Address Translation (NAT) to share a single IP address with the computers that join the AirPort Extreme network. To provide Internet access to several computers with one IP address, NAT assigns private IP addresses to each computer on the AirPort Extreme network, and then matches these addresses with port numbers. The wireless device creates a port-to-private IP address table entry when a computer on your AirPort (private) network sends a request for information to the Internet.
If you are using a web, AppleShare, or FTP server on your AirPort Extreme network, other computers initiate communication with your server. Because the Apple wireless device has no table entries for these requests, it has no way of directing the information to the appropriate computer on your AirPort network.
To ensure that requests are properly routed to your web, AppleShare, or FTP server, you need to establish a permanent IP address for your server and provide inbound port mapping information to your Apple wireless device.
To set up inbound port mapping:
    1. Open AirPort Utility, select your wireless device, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the device icon to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the password if necessary.
    2. Click the Advanced button, and then click Port Mapping.
    3. Click the Add button and choose a service, such as Personal File Sharing, from the Service pop-up menu.
Type any additional information you need in the text fields.
To use port mapping, you must configure TCP/IP manually on the computer that is
running the web, AppleShare, or FTP server. You can also set up a computer as a default host to establish a permanent IP address for the computer and provide inbound port mapping information to the AirPort Extreme Base Station or AirPort Express. This is sometimes known as a DMZ and is useful when playing some network games or videoconferencing.
To set up a default host:
    1. Open AirPort Utility, select your wireless device, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the device icon to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the password if necessary.
    2. Click the Internet button, and then click NAT.
    3. Select the “Enable Default Host at” checkbox. The default IP address is 10.0.1.253.
    4. Enter the same IP address on the host computer.
3389 is the port needed for Windows Remote Desktop.

  • Has anyone been able to use a shuffle 3rd gen 4GB with windows 7 64 bit?

Hello, I have an Ipod Shuffle 3rd generation 4GB that works fine on machines with XP Pro 32 bit and Vista 32 bit but the Win 7 Pro 64 bit machine will not recognize it when plugged in.  I have tried all troubleshooting advice with no change.  Uninstalled Itunes, restarted and re-installed with no change.  Any help someone has would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Because it works with the other PCs, you've ruled out a problem on the shuffle itself and a problem with the USB cable.  So that leaves some issue on the PC with Windows 7.  I don't think 64-bit versus 32-bit is a consideration.
As a test, if you have not already, I would shut down and disconnect all other USB devices from the computer (except for standard keyboard and mouse if used).  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on computer.
If the shuffle is still not recognized by iTunes, also check other places, such as Device Manager, to see if it appears anywhere.
