Using Microsoft Translation widget

On microsoft page it asks for URL where it will be used. If I install the widget on my master am I right in thinking it will appear on each page of the site. If so what is the URL of my master page. Also when I have finished the site and change its name to my proper domain name will it change this automatically on upload to server. The URL is mentioned in the code from Microsoft. Probably a very basic question to experienced users but us learners we need to have things exlained simply. As usual I am extremely thankful to the Adobe Muse staff team for all their help so far and also to anyone else who has chipped in.

I have now discovered that yes I can have a fully functional microsoft translator widget on my local site simply by putting the name of the local site where they ask for URL. Because I live here the primary language I want to translate to is Thai. The translation is not fantastic but gives a broad idea of what I am trying to say. Having it locally enables me to translate in preview and then go back and make the necessary alterations to make it look reasonable in the Thai version. I have discovered that Thai translates quite a bit less in volume compared to the English so some adjustment is necessary. I think when I up load to the host server I will have to alter the widget html to my proper domain name URL. Thanks for you input Brad.

  • Translator Widget Mouseover Highlighting - OFF please.

Have an old website that I am trying to make more user friendly for my international customers.  Having the capability to translate the pages appears helpful.
Google uses some awful masthead that I haven't found a way to shut off.  It rips people away from the site, changing the url to one of theirs.  Not to mention the fact that the whole interface is uber ugly, and so I dumped them.
I tried the Microsoft Translator Widget... much better.  Clean functionality that leaves only changes the text on your page.
But now attempt to use any of the links on the page: the text block becomes highlighted.  That highlight then generates a box that says "Original Text... blah blah blah."  Both the highlight and the box are quite hideous and distracting.
Have resorted to the following settings: &ctf=false&ui=false&settings=notify , then tested it by changing my browser language preference to Spanish.  Nothing happened, it seems to defeat the whole functionality
    of the widget.
My sandbox page is: http://usedbqqks.com/widgets.html and the MS Translator codes are placed at the end of the body.
Also would love to have more control over the colors, size and initial placement of the widget.  I do realize that the default placement of the widget can be changed by the viewer using their mouse.
Further, I would love the ability to have better control over the list of languages.  The programmer should be able to modify how that list is displayed.  I would suggest the following options: 1. the original language, 2. "my" browser
language, 3 a flag, or 4. some combination of all three.  Example: Español (flag of Spain here) Spanish.
    Thank, Wally.

Thank you for your reply.  Earlier
I had found, read, digested and utilized the given options on the translator customization page that you mention.
I reviewed the languages, want all of them so that part is fine.  I was only interested in ways to
change the FORMAT in which the language list is DISPLAYED.
The following options would be very useful: the name of each language in 1. the original language, 2. "my"
browser language, 3 a flag, or 4. some combination of all three.
    Example:
    Español  Spanish || Français
     French.
This language display thing is strictly an esthetic issue.  I can live with what you have.
The highlighting problem is a deal-breaker.  Seems a common concern...
    (see:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/030255b0-81d1-4347-8387-969c30c3a551/microsoft-translator-widget-for-websites-disable-tooltips?forum=microsofttranslator&prof=required )
I will probably wait to implement translation until Microsoft provides control over when and if highlighting
appears.  Either that or until a less obtrusive third option emerges.
    Thanks again, Wally.

  • Translation widget messed up

OK, this is creepy. So I was using the translation widget (standard one that comes with Mac OS) When I was translating to Japanese, it crashed and the "Unexpectedly quit" thing came up stating that the widget's process name (DashboardClient Translation Widget or whatever the processs is) had unexpectedly quit. So I reopened it and it was working fine. Then I took a break from my Mac and put it in sleep mode. When I got back, I opened Dashboard and now the widget is all messed up! The top box says "Japanese" and can be changed as normal. The "To" box has the word "undefined" (javascript, methinks) and in the middle of the widget, part of the flip side can be seen. I tried log-out log-in and refreshing. WHAT DO I DO?!

No, I hadn't thought of trashing its plist. I trashed it and it worked again! Thanks a lot

  • Use Machine Translation with Microsoft.Office.TranslationServices

I have implemented custom translation for translate Text to another language and it works properly. Here I used "Microsoft.Office.TranslationServices.dll" and used its classes.
I have a scenario like this. Lets say I do not want to translate a selected words such as "Work Order". So there I've got a dictionary with the language and word. (Multidimensional Dictionary). So I want to pass that dictionary to the service and
need to map the words I've mapped there. Is it possible to do so using this "Microsoft.Office.TranslationServices"?

I am wondering if this has anything to do with having the user log into Excel.
In point #5 above: Under DCOM config, Microsoft Excel Application, if I modify the Identity tab to check on "This User" and enter the username/password to let Excel always run under that user. Then the application runs perfectly. However, other
users can't run the excel application on their own with the following error: "Cannot use object linking and embedding". If I check "Use the launching user", then Excel can't be launched. No errors in the logs or events anywhere to check.
Because running with the launching user proposes an user to run the Excel application. However, I do not think there is any where that we can pass in the password for this user to Excel. However, this Excel has all the permissions to Excel application as
well as the folders that have the Excel files.
    Please help!
    Thank you!

  • Translation Widget Inoperative

For some reason, my stock translation widget just doesnt work anymore. The translation portion of it says "undefined" and has some glitchy looking font written behind the drop-down menu. And the "translate from" either says Chinese (Simplified) or English, which are the two I have been using most frequently. Actually, now that I think about it, ever since I changed my language preferences to Chinese after logging in one time (changing it back to English eventually), I have experienced this problem; however, that should not have messed up my computer.
I have tried taking a new widget from my roommate's Macbook to overwrite my broken one, but it didn't change a thing.

P.S. What in the world is a kernal_task in my Activity Viewer? It says it's taking up 453MB of RAM! That's absurd.

I actually don't even have the ability to translate anything, so I can't say that is my problem... it simply either says English in both the "translate from" and "to" fields or Chinese (Simplified Han) when I press the swap button, so I don't get a chance to translate from either of the languages. Pretty obnoxious. There has to be a fix short of restoring my software from my disc. that would mess my computer up.

  • Translation Widget Problem

Hello everyone. I am a pretty new apple user. Got to say im loving every minute of it. Well, two days ago my computer auto updated and since then for some reason my translation widget (came with comp) does not work. I can not type anything in it and it I cannot choose languages to use. Is there any way to reinstall it?

I was having the same problem with the translator widget and did what you said: put my preferences folder on the desktop and restarted it.
This led me to believe the problem was in the original preferences folder.
It was! I found, at the bottom of the folder, the widgets. I just trashed them, and
dragged the folder from my desktop back to my library replacing the new one that had formed. Restart and you should be good to go.

  • Translation Widget won't work, any ideas ?

My translation widget will not open the language windows and will not transpose language windows.

What's the name of the widget? Has it been working and just stopped, or did you just install it?
I use this translation web site.

I created a spreadsheet using Microsoft office 2010 Excel.  When I open the sheet using Numbers, the formatting changes.  How do I fix this?

If you plan to share or work with people who regulary use MS Excel you should not try to use this in Numbers.  You will have constant problems with how each program translates the formatting.
If you want to use Numbers, use it exclusively.  If it is for your job use the tool your company uses.

  • Translation Widget in Dashboard Problem

    Just bought a new Macbook.
I click "f12" to open dashboard.
    Go the Translation Widget.
Type a word in Japanese for an English translation and vice versa and then try other languages. All I'm getting is a
    "data unavailable" message.
Do I have to install something to use this widget?

If you're talking about the systran one... (blue). ... mine quit working too.
... so I thought... actually it just takes a really long time to connect and process ... in the mean time it doesn't tell you it's doing it.
Type in what you want to translate... hit go... close the dashboard... wait a minute... then reopen the dashboard and voila .. not the most efficient way but it works.

  • Language translation widget

    Hello,
I'm looking for a language translation widget. I searched a lot many mac sites / forums and was not sucessfull finding a (free) translation widget (like Babel for windows)
I'm looking at English / French & German.
    Any hints?
    regards,

No, mine is definitely a language translator. I use it all the time. The unit converter is called "Unit Converter". I don't know why your system is different.
You can see the widget here (bottom-left; the screenshot is leopard but it exists in tiger as well): http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304760
There's a description of how it works here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh2189.html

  • Machine Translation Service Applicatrion and the MicroSoft Translator Hub

    Hi
So we are looking at setting up Machine Translation SA and the steps according to TechNet appear to be
1 - Create the Service App
    2 - Configure it
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj553772.aspx
I can't see in the configuration any reference to where it goes to on the internet to do the translations. Does this have to be configured separately? Does it go somewhere by default unless otherwise configured?
At the bottom of the article it states "You can configure the Machine Translation Service to use the custom translation system by passing the category ID in the
    MachineTranslationCategory parameter."
What does the Machine Translation service use if you don't configure a custom translation system using the Translation hub?
    Thanks
    J

    Hi Jon,
If you set the Machine Translation Service Application to use “Use default internet settings” in Online Translation Connection section, then the requests will be sent to the cloud-hosted machine translation service.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/wbaer/archive/2012/11/12/introduction-to-machine-translation-services-in-sharepoint-2013.aspx
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj163145%28v=office.15%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
When the Machine Translation Service application processes a translation request, it forwards the request to the
Microsoft Translator cloud-hosted machine translation service, where the actual translation work is performed.
And the Microsoft Translator service has its own translation systems to do the translation work.
    Thanks,
    Victoria Xia

  • Translation widget fried

so my systran translation widget is totally fried, here's a picture of what it looks like
    http://pics.livejournal.com/revmischa/pic/008b6khe
it only lets you to choose to translate into english, and even then, it won't allow me to enter anything to be translated.
i used pacifist to extract the translation widget off my 10.4 install dvd, but that didn't help at all...
    any ideas?

  • Language translator widget malfunction

For some reason, my translator widget no longer works properly. I used to be able to translate from Korean to English and visa versa (which are the only two languages that I really NEED the translator for). But now, I can only choose English for my "translate from" list and the translate to list says only undefined. I am connected to the internet when I am doing this and my friends who have macs can use theirs fine. I'm no technical-fiddler and didn't mess around with anything. Is there a way I can just delete it and reinstall it again?
Its the default translator that came with Tiger.

Just a slight correction to this thread ...
I had exactly the same problem, and I followed the advice given, but because I hate to reboot if it is not absolutely necessary, I simply relaunched Dashboard without rebooting the Mac.
The translator widget sat blank for a few seconds, then came back to life as good as new.
So then I trashed the plist on the desktop, all without rebooting! (This will be of value to rebootophobes, of which I suspect I am but one among thousands).
