Using MIDI cable with M-Audio FastTrack  Pro

I have 2 keyboards. One has USB MIDI, so I just plug it directly in to my computer and Logic sees it. I also have a nicer keyboard (weighted keys), but this one doesn't have a USB out. It has a 1/4" jack and a 5 pin MIDI jack. I've tried plugging it into my FastTrack Pro using a MIDI cable, but it doesn't seem to work. What am I missing?
Thanks

Hi !
Still no answer from M-Audio but it seems that they are not in cause.
I read on several topics of Apple's Forums some similar problems with other audio devices and also with some USBhubs.
I ran some little tests and for my case, using the other USB port of the MacBook seems to resolve the problem (but that's not a permanent solution for my point of view).
Using a selft-powered USBhub works also, even on the port that makes it crash without hub.
As I studied a little bit of electronics, it looks really like a problem of power supply through USB to me. It could be some kind of micro-cuts (or micro-undervoltage) that are sufficient to cut the audio stream and freeze a bit the system but not enough for MacOSX to switch significantly to the internal audio.
But two questions still remain :
Why one USB port of the MacBook and not the other one ?
Why since 10.5.2 ?
Steve, if you hear me ;o)
'Hope they will react quickly !

  • Problems with M-Audio Fasttrack Pro and Garageband after 10.5.2

    Hi all,
I use GarageBand daily with my M-Audio FastTrack Pro and have had absolutely no problems until I installed the 10.5.2 update.
Suddenly the Audio randomly cuts out when I'm recording, monitoring or playing back - also my recordings appear to skip and jump too. Usually I can rectify it by power cycling the Fasttrack but the problem re-occurs after about 30 seconds of recording.
I have double checked the I am using M-Audio's latest drivers and have repaired permissions and the disk. I was wondering if anyone else had had any problems with this?
All help would be appreciated, looks like I'm going back to 10.5.1 though.

  • MIDI problems with M-Audio Keystation Pro 88

I have an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 MIDI keyboard controller I use with any number of DAW's. Lately the MIDI signals have been acting very strangely when I updated to 10.10. I have updated all the MIDI drivers in my library and since the M-Audio products need no drivers for a MAC, there are never updates in either firmware or MIDI drivers.
    Example;
When running any of the DAW's I open Kontakt 5 and assign a VI. I right click the volume knob on the VI and tell it to "learn MIDI" and when I move a fader on the KeyStation it's inverted. No gain is now Hi and vice versa. Anyone else having this issue with MIDI in Yosemite?

    Thanks Jord,
I have been trying this out. So i set up a new preset bank and say label it 'Live', in this preset bank i then set up my preset.
Everytime the M-Audio is turned off and on will i have to load the new preset bank 'Live' using Enigma, or will it be stored in its memory

Encryption wouldn't matter except for Wifi.
While 10.2 might help, there's not much you can do on the Internet these days with less than 10.4.11

i need some assistance wireing up my personal studio. Im running on a Mac Pro Tower Logic 8. I have a M-Audio FastTrack Pro USB interface and want to hook up a Behringer 1202fx mixer. How exactly do i do the wiring for this???what settings do i need to change in system preferences or in Logic.????? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

It depends what you want to do, and what gear you are hooking up and what you want to do with it.
How you hook it up really depends on your needs, which you don't specify.

I connected my iPod Touch to a stereo system phono input using a cable with stereo jacks (red and white) on one end and that plugs into the iPod's headphone jack.  The problem is that the sound is extremely muffled and bass-heavy, with little treble.  I have to turn the bass control on the stereo receiver to pratically zero in order for the sound coming through the stereo to be acceptable.  Is there a setting on either the iPod or the stereo that I need to change in order to fix this?

The phono input is for a phonograph.  The iPod does headphne output is not that same as a phongraph output.  Does th stero have an AUX input?  That should be compatible.

  • Using Outboard Gear With M-Audio Fast Track Pro And Logic Express

My Fast Track Pro has 2 insert jacks on the back where you can run a send and return to use outboard gear. The cable you use has 2 female 1/4" jacks (one is send and the other is return) that go to a 1/4" male jack that you plug into the back of the interface.
    My question is this:
How can I get Logic Express to send a track through the outboard gear connected to my interface? On the track's output settings in Logic there are "Output 1+2", which run to my monitors I think, and "Output 3+4", which don't have anything plugged into them. There don't appear to be any other options for sending the track. How can I get Logic to recognize the Inserts jack on the Fast Track Pro? I'm running all the latest drivers if that means anything. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks for helping me on this. I'm still a bit confused on how to send the channel through the insert. The jacks on the back of my interface are "TRS Output 1+2" (my monitors are plugged into these outputs), a RCA "Output 1,2,3, and 4", an S/PDIF out and in, and then 2 TRS inserts jacks, marked 1 and 2. Each jack does it's own separate send and return which is why I had to buy the cable with the 2 female jacks on it.
I've been able to use the I/O plugin and get the track to accept a signal from the insert on input 1 (I have a looping pedal running in the send chain and was able to get it to play a loop over top of the audio already recorded on the channel), but am unable to send the recorded track through the fx send. What would I need to set the output to to be able to do this? Thanks for your time.

  • Is it possible to use a cable with two headphone jacks on either end and an electric guitar adapter to record in Garageband?

    Hey everyone,
I got my Macbook Air (Mid 2013 model) last month and I want to record my acoustic-electric guitar on Garageband (which came with the Air).
I don't want to buy a guitar that has a USB. I have a cable with a 3.5 mm headphone jack on both ends like the one pictured here on this website http://www.bestdealaz.com/item.php?id=628 (i didn't buy it from this site though).
I connected a 6.3 mm guitar adapter (http://www.ebay.com/bhp/headphone-guitar-adapter) to this cable. Then I connected one end of the cable to my guitar and the other end to the Headphone/Microphone jack on the left side of the MBA.
I saw how other people were saying to go to System Preferences / Sound and then change audio output to audio input.
    I can't do that. I tried.
    Please help!
    Thank you.

    Hello Massimo Pascucci,
The issue that you are facing when creating an endpoint with internal loadbalancer is the limitation of not allowing same ports to be listening under a single cloud service. This reason for this is that there is a limitation of only one private IP (Also
known as the Internal load balanced IP) per cloud service.
There is also a limitation on the Internal load balancer more than one port to be published per load balancer:

  • Crashing - Logic Audio?  M-Audio FastTrack Pro?

I just upgraded to Leopard. Using Logic Audio \ M-Audio Fastrack Pro. Just installed an eSATA PCI controller card for external drives.
No trouble with Logic 8 \ Tiger \ M-Audio Fastrack Pro.
Going to look for new drivers for Fastrack Pro.
Mmm. Any ideas come to mind out there?
    All ears,

I think it was my M-Audio Fast Track Pro driver. Installed the latest one. Haven't had a crash in twenty minutes. That might have been the issue...

  • How to use my earpods with my 2012 macbook pro

I can not get the inline microphone to work on my earpods with my 2012 macbook pro.  It will not reconize it.  Help please!

I have an A1286(Early 2011) MBP with OS X 10.8.2. Using my headphone jack with earpods has been sporadic. Sometimes I get the mic, sometimes I don't. I just now took a paper clip and worked it around inside the jack. I plugged my headphones back in appears to be working. Could be something inside the jack is bent and not making contact with the mic part of the plug.
Your mileage may vary. I assume no liability if you damage something.
Tried it again and it doesn't seem to be working anymore. For my MBP I think it is a hardware issue. Either dust or something is getting in between the contacts and the plug or the contacts are just not touching the plug. I'm gonna take a crack at dismantling my MBP and see if it's something simple like bending the contacts so they touch the headphone plug.

  • I get no audio on the tv with the hdmi cable with my mc book pro 2008

Connect your computer to a samsung tv with hdmi cable and audio only I get the laptop, I do not get any option in system preferences to change the audio or anything, thanks hope someone can help me

Your model cannot carry sound through an HDMI adapter. If you have an auido in port on your TV, you can probably use a 1/8" stereo cable to carry the sound from your computer to your television.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
