Using mobileme email address on icloud

How do I transfer my mobilme email and add to icloud?

If you go to http://me.com (when not logged in) you should see this:
If you go to http://me.com/move there is a 'sign in' link which takes you to the page pictured here.

  • Transfer expired MobileMe email address to iCloud???

My wife had a MobileMe email address, pre-iCloud.  Her account was deactivated prior to iCloud.  Now she wants to get the old email address she had with MobileMe but since it is the old system she is unable to transfer the email address to iCloud.  Contacted support, but no solution, thoughts?

One crucial thing I forgot to add is she created a new appleID for all her iTunes purchases and wants the old email linked to her new appleID/iCloud.

  • MobileMe Email address and iCloud

    Hi,
I had an MobileMe email address. That account expired. I'm trying to get the same email address with iCloud but it tells me the @me.com address is already taken. Yeah, it's taken by me! How can I reclaim this email. I use the same handle for everything.
    Thank you!

    That account expired
Can I keep my MobileMe email address once I move to iCloud?
Only if you have an active MobileMe account when you sign up for iCloud, you can keep your me.com or mac.comemail address and any email aliases you have created and move your MobileMe mail, contacts, and calendars, as well as your bookmarks, to the new service. When you're ready to make the move, go to www.me.com/move.

  • Is there ANY way to use another email address with iCloud?

Apple let you use any email address as an Apple ID, but I really want to be able to use a non-Apple email address with my iCloud mail. Just about every email service (Gmail, Hotmail, etc) allows you to send from a third-party address (once you've done a security verification) so that you don't have to change your email address when switching services. iCloud seems to have no such option. Is there any way round this, or any way to put pressure on Apple to add this basic feature???

  • How to use same email address on iCloud across different devices?

I am setting up my iCloud ID, which I already have on my MacBook Air and iPhone on my new iPad mini. When I turn on iCloud, it asks me to set up a new email address at @icloud.com, which I don't want it to do. Instead, I want to use the @me.com email address I already have.
How do I turn on Mail on my iPad mini and get it to pick up the email address I already have?

    Hey pdenlinger,
It sounds like you are signed into a different iCloud account on the iPad mini, in my experience that would be the only cause. Be sure to double check what Apple ID you are signed into for iCloud, we'll want it to be your @me.com address.

When you setup your iOS device, by default the same Apple ID is used for iCloud services and store purchases (iTunes, App Store, iBookstore). However, if you want to use a separate Apple ID, you can set up the account you would like to use in Store Settings.

  • Migrate expired mobileme email address to icloud alias

    Hi,
I had a Mobileme family pack and at one point i was using a second email address.
Later I swapped it to use an address for someone else.
Now I would like to use that old address as an icloud alias but don't know how.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your reply.
I have also had a chat with apple support and discovered the same thing. If you had a family pack on mobileme and had used sub account @me email addresses and then reassigned them they are in effect held forever out of use too everyone for use with mail. They can however be used as an apple ID. Though I can't work out how despite the instructions below.
Q: I would like to reactivate a mobileme sub account that was not in use when I changed the main account to iCloud?
A: You can re-activate this account, ******@me.com, by signing into iCloud preferences with the username and password to this account. When you turn on mail for that account it will require that you create a new @me email address because this one is inactive and was not active when you set it up with iCloud.
Q: Does this mean i can never recover it?
A: You can use the email as an Apple Id you just have to use an new @me email address for mail.

  • Changing email addresses in iCloud

I recently upgraded to Lion and switched my mobileme email addresses to iCloud. I want to replace one of my aliases with another. Can anyone tell me how to do this please?

How many aliases did you have in MobileMe? You were allowed five, but iCloud allows only three. If you had five, all will have been migrated but you will have to delete three before you can add one. If you currently have three you can delete one but you will have to wait a week before you can add another. If you have only two you can add another one immediately.
Go to the Mail page at http://icloud.com , click the cogwheel icon at top right and choose 'Preferences', and click 'Accounts' in the toolbar of the pane which opens.
If you have more than two aliases, select one or more and click the '-' sign below the list. If you hava a space available, click 'Add an alias'.

  • How can I use my old MobileMe email address if I did not migrate to icloud by the deadline?

I had a mobile me account that I did not migrate to icloud.  Now when I try and set up an icloud account using the old mobileme email address, it says that address is already in use. I then try and access it but the password doesn't work and it says mobileme is closed. When I try and reset the password, it says an email has been sent to the email on file...which is an old mobileme address that I cannot access.
How can I get this email address set up in icloud?

Nice idea - I tried it but it doesn't seem to work (at least not for me).
So here are the details in case, you can spot something more I could do....
    When MobileMe was live
    MobileMe ID was [email protected]
AppleID (to make iTunes purchases) was [email protected]
When iCloud went live (and MM was still alive)
iCloud account was created based upon AppleID - [email protected]
iCloud would not create [email protected] as was already in use (by me)
iCloud would not merge [email protected] as iCloud does not merge
MobileMe migration to iCloud option was not taken
Deleted all data out of MobileMe account (mail, calendar, contacts, gallery)
Deleted MobileMe mail account off of all devices
    When MM died
I received notification that I had not migrated my MM account
iCloud was happily working as Contacts/Calendar sharer using my AppleID of [email protected]
Weeks later on Mac running 10.8
System Preference - iCloud, already logged in with AppleID of [email protected]
Then ticked the untick Mail box
Long wait with small grey whirling cog box, stating "Loading". Eventually a BLANK message box with OK which then disappeared on a timeout.
System Preference - Mail...  Re-added [email protected] (now picked up as iCloud account)
Mail - Accounts.... Re-added [email protected] BUT got message "Mail can'y connect to the account..."
So tried logging into www.icloud.com (using AppleID of [email protected] where my contacts/calendar now reside).  Clicked on Mail icon and received "@me.com Address Needed" message

  • Why can't I use my previous MobileMe email address instead of creating a new one?

Why can't I use my previous MobileMe email address instead of creating a new one?  When signing up for iCloud I'm asked to choose an email address [email protected]  I am already using an @me address via moblileme.  When i input that address it states that that address is already taken.  Try picking a new one.  I don't want a new one I want to use my mobileme address.  How can that be done?

It appears you set up a new iCloud account rather than migrating your MobileMe account over to iCloud.  I migrated everything over this morning and am still using my old MobileMe email address.
Check to see if you can migrate rather than open a new account.

  • HT4864 Can i use my old email address on ICloud?

Can i use my old email address on ICloud?

iCloud mail handles only its own emails - you can't collect mail from other accounts as you could with MobileMe - so all you can do is set up forwarding from other accounts to iCloud. However you can only use the iCloud address as the 'From' address when using its outgoing server, so when you are using your Mac or iPhone you are better off setting up other accounts separately in the Mail app. Only when using iCloud webmail will this then be an issue.

  • HT204053 can I use more than one email address on icloud (using iphone and mac)?

I have an email account which seems to be using icloud, and I want to add another email account so that I can access it via icloud.  Is it possible to have more than one email address on icloud?  I have an iphone 5 and a macbook.

You can only have one email account for each iCloud account.  You can create up to three alias addresses, but these will still receive email in the current account inbox.  This explains how to create an alias if you want to do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.
You can create a second ("secondary") iCloud account on your device by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and entering a different iCloud ID.  This will give you second iCloud email account but it will only be fetch email (not push).  Also, you can only create a maximum of three iCloud accounts on each device so this would use one of your allotted accounts.

My iCloud email address and my apple ID are different. I would like to change my iCloud to be the same as my apple ID. However I don't know my iCloud password and don't use the email address it belongs to. When I try to change the password, apple brings me to a page to reset my apple ID password (which I know and don't want to change). I have even tried to delete my iCloud account completely to start again but am not allowed without the iCloud password (which I don't have) there doesn't seem to be a place to change the email address of iCloud. What can I do?

This is the answer that I had expected, so in this case you could only change your gmail.com address to another providers email addres e.g. outlook.com, yahoo.com, etc., but you won't be able to change the gmail.com address to a icloud.com email address. Apple just won't let you do that.
Your iCloud account with @icloud.com email address and you Apple ID with gmail.com address are already connected and as I said before, Apple just let you merge this two IDs together.

  • TS4139 I had 2 MobileMe email addresses, but only went thru ICloud process with one (my main address). Now the secondary address is not working with iCloud. Did I have to go thru the process with both addresses? Can I get that address back?

I had 2 MobileMe email addresses, but only went thru iCloud process with one (my main address). Now the secondary address is not working with iCloud. Did I have to go thru the process with each address? Can I still get that secondary address to work with iCloud?

It was totally separate. I just now went back to a previous email from Apple to that secondary address which urged me to transition to iCloud. I followed the link and it prompted me thru the process and the address is now able to send/receive emails. Thanks.
