Using Mountain Lion and getting "Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED)" from some domain names that work on other computers on my network.

I can not load some websites/domain names through Firefox,Chrome & Safari. It seems like a DNS caching issue to me. I have tried flusing DNS cache and changing to to public nameservers with varying success. The domains will load on other versions of OSX on my network, so Iappears to be an OS version issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chrome Error
Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): The server refused the connection.
Firefox Error
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at domainname.com
Safari Error

    Yesterday, I purchased Mountain Lion OSX and tried to download it but I don't think the download worked.  How can I tell if I am using Mountain Lion and how do I get help if the download was unsuccessful?

    Click your Apple menu icon top left corner of your screen.
    From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    If Mountain Lion is installed, it will say:  v10.8
    If not, launch the App Store. From the App Store menu bar click Store > Check for Unfinished Downloads
    FYI ..  for downloading Mountain Lion from the App Store, a high speed (broadband) internet connection is strongly recommended by Apple as noted here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
    If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

    Incorrect link to "OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mountain Lion and earlier". Should be http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6025

    I think the OP is saying OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mountain Lion and earlier (which should be a link to HT4889) just links back to OS X: How to migrate data from another Mac using Mavericks (HT5872).
    It does indeed do that, & HT4889 seems to be MIA.

    Under what circumstances does mail "not leave the mails on the server"?
    If you mean that you delete them (or move them out of the inbox) on one device and then find them not in the inbox on the server when you look from another device, that's how IMAP is supposed to work. (Note that the deletion or moving might be the result of rules you have set up in Mail.)
    If you mean something else, please explain your issue in more detail.

    Try booting into the Safe Mode.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once. You can download from the Safe Mode.

I have been a Machead since the early nineties and set up a half dozen networks, including the one I am using at home to which the iMac mysteriously is there but not. This has me stumped! I am considering going back to 10.7!

  • Can I text to an iphone using mountain lion and macbook pro?

    Just wondering if I can text from my macbook pro using mountain lion with the new messages app? What i've read seems to say that you can text to any imessages user.  Does this mean that a text can go from my messages app in mountain lion on my computer to an iphone using imessage? Thanks!

    Hi,
    You have to have an Apple ID on Messages on the Mac to get it to start.
    Once that is done it will also tend to find all the iChat Accounts you may have had.
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    I have several names that have "me" in the name that Messages thinks are iMessages accounts (see icons).
    I also have AIM (AOL) accounts.
    My Google ID is a Jabber account.
    The iPhone has to be set up in Settings > Messages > Received At > Caller ID
    As has been mentioned in this thread the Messages option has to be on.
    A New Message icon starts things and then you chose a Contact for iMessages
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    It indicates if you are using iMessage or AIM or Jabber to Contact people.
    The "To" spot becomes a drop down when a  name is there (you can then change to an Apple ID or Phone number or Switch to an AIM Screen Name or Jabber ID if the Contact (Address Book) Card has the details
    Uploaded with Skitch!
    As you can see I have an @mac.com and an @me.com name logged in and could switch to AIM logins to contact "myself" as a Buddy (rather than an iMessage Contact)

    ...Is there any way I can install a partition that runs snow leopard on my early 2011 MB pro with what I have (new SSD, New RAM, Current version Lion running, no external drive, lack of original snow leopard disks [I lost them ] and the general 10.6.3 snow leopard boot disks)...
    As the last post suggests, call Apple and order a replacement original disc for about $17.  They will ask you the model and serial numbers.
    Your retail version of Snow Leopard OS 10.6.3 will not work on that Mac as it requires a minimum of OS X 10.6.7 to boot and operate.
    Another alternative is to again borrow another Mac to install your retail Snow Leopard into an external HD or partition, upgrade it to 10.6.8 and then clone it back to a partition on your MBP.

    Make sure there's enough available space on the install disk to install Mountain Lion (4.35GB file).
    Click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info then click Storage from the menu.

  • OS Mountain Lion and Finder Error -600

    In the past week my system seems to have become slow. I get many "beach balls" especially when using MS Outlook 2011 and I have not installed any new software in over 90 days, except Software Updates via the App Store.
    This new issue I believe is Finder related. If I try to open my "Documents" folder from the Dock, I get the error "The application "Finder" can't be opened. -600". This also prevents me from opening DropBox from my toolbar. However, if I click on the actual folders in my Home folder, they open just fine.
    I have tried the usual: fixed permissions, restarted, used Onyx without help. Next I downloaded the 10.8.2 Combo Updater and ran it. This seemed to fix everything. However, 2 days later, the same issues are back.
    I see from old forum posts that this is a "process issue" usually related to expired software, but this error is for the Finder.
    Thoughts? Ideas?
    Thank you in advance.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
    When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Developing an iOS app on Windows and get error 90161 on upload from Mac

    Hello,
    I have developed an AIR for iOS app in Flash CC 2014 on Windows. I use MacinCloud managed server for uploading .ipa to store for testing. It is virtual server service with Mac OS. They have Application Loader pre-installed.
    I made certificates [cer converted to p12] on Windows and installed provisional profile. I made another certificate on Mac and added it to provisional profile too.
    I get error when trying to upload from Application Loader:
    ERROR ITMS-90161: "Invalid Provisioning Profile. The provisioning profile included in the bundle com.xxx.yyy [Payload/yyy.app] is invalid. [Missing code-signing certificate.] For more information, visit the iOS Developer Portal."
    Stuck here. Tried to add cert made on Mac. Flash doesn't like it and stops compilation.
    Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Unfortunately I have no experience with Apple Testflight, but I can show you how to host on your own server.
    Create a .plist file on your server with the following data in it:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
      <key>items</key>
      <array>
      <dict>
      <key>assets</key>
      <array>
      <dict>
      <key>kind</key>
      <string>software-package</string>
      <key>url</key>
      <string>http://yourserver.com/path/to/ipa</string>
      </dict>
      </array>
      <key>metadata</key>
      <dict>
      <key>bundle-identifier</key>
      <string>com.yourcompany.yourgame</string>
      <key>bundle-version</key>
      <string>current version of your app</string>
      <key>kind</key>
      <string>software</string>
      <key>title</key>
      <string>name of your app</string>
      </dict>
      </dict>
      </array>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    Then, on your server, make an HTML page with the following code in it:
    <a href="itms-services://?action=download-manifest&url=http://yourserver.com/path/to/plist">click here to install<a>
    Navigate to that page on your device, click the link, and it should work!  (assuming the adhoc provisioning profile you built your app with contains permissions for your device)

    Hello,
    What version of the IVI Compliance package do you have? You can check this under the software tab in MAX. Also, see the attached screenshots for a sample assignment/configuration of a logical name and a driver session. Once you have gone through the analagous steps it should work, where your resource name control in LabVIEW should be populated with the logical name created in MAX.
