Using mouse wheel to zoom and pan

I was wondering if there would be a way to make a javascript that would load at Photoshop's startup that would allow the user to zoom in and out using the mouse wheel (instead of using it for scrolling), and to use that same mouse wheel as a third button (when you push on the mouse wheel) or any third button on a three button mouse to pan in your image. I'm a 3ds max user and I love the way the navigation work in that software so it'd be great to be able to do that for Photoshop and Illustrator and get rid of those useless key shortcuts that we need to use to zoom and pan.
For the pan fonction, I guess if there was a way to simply say "when the third mouse button is pressed, press the space button, until the mouse button is released" it could work. But then it would force the panning to stop when the mouse goes offscreen, unlike in 3ds max where you can pan for whatever distance you want, even if you have the loop throught the screen ten times.
For the zoom function, if scolling up could simply "push" the keyboard shortcuts to zoom in/ zoom out it could work, but I don't know if that's possible. And then we'd have to disable the scrolling up and down in the document.
Anyways, if anyone has any ideas about that let me know! I've been looking for that for such a long time!

Not sure if I am misreading your post, but there is an option in the preferences that allows you to choose Zoom With Scroll Wheel. With this option active you hold the ALT key to scroll.
My Logitech mouse has a tilt wheel on it and this works fine in Photoshop. It doesn't loop through the screen but it does pan left and right with no problem. On this mouse the scroll wheel can also be pressed, and can be programmed to almost any key, I use for double click.

Hi guys,
I recently made the jump to Mac from PC (had been designing almost completely on PC for 12 years). I've discovered a wealth of shortcuts for Flash CS5 on Mac, but it's missing a significant one for me:
On Flash for PC, the user can press CTRL + SHIFT + Wheel Scroll to zoom in and out.
On Mac, although users can wheel-zoom (+ ALT) in Photoshop, Illustrator, and even InDesign -- Flash doesn't have this capability.
Call me nitpicky, but this was the most significant shortcut for me on PC.
I notice this same topic has been posted sparsely over the years, with very few repliesand no remedy.
I'm hoping someone's figured out a way or knows of a solution?
Would really appreciate any help. Thank you!

Zooming using mouse wheel ?

I just upgraded from PSE 5 to 9. One of the handy functions in PSE 5 was the use of the mouse wheel to zoom in or out of a picture that you're working on in the editing work space. Now it seems I have to use the brackets or the awkward zoom tool.
Is there a way I can activate/modify something so I can zoom with the mouse wheel? Thanks.
Also, the type on the pulldown menus is harder to read than in PSE 5 because the type is small and it's revered out of black. I'm going to explore the workspace in PSE 8. Maybe I upgraded too far.

Open a photo in "Full Photo Edit" mode.
Select Edit>Preferenes>General. Check the box that says "Zoom with Scroll Wheel".

Create Interactive Zoom and Pan (in out, left, right)

Hello Flash Forum,
I have been checking the forum for ideas and suggestions on
how to implement an interactive zoom and pan on an image. I would
like the user to be able to drag a "magnifing glass" over an image,
and then zoom in (or out) on the area in the magnifing glass, using
the mouse wheel. How might I go about creating this effect? Or, the
easier way, steal someone's code who has implemented this kind of
functionality.

how to implement an interactive zoom and pan on an image. I would
like the user to be able to drag a "magnifing glass" or a circle
over an image, and then zoom in (or out) on the area in the
magnifing glass, using the mouse wheel. How might I go about
creating this effect? Or, the easier way, steal someone's code who

How to use Mouse Wheel Events

Hello Everyone
I am using Datagrid in my Canvas.
I use mouse wheel to scroll the datagrid. But in one scroll
through that wheel make the more than 4 rows to be scroll.
So Now my requirement is to control the delta value of mouse
wheel event and how to use that with my datagrid so that i will

Zoom and pan square map, how to modify for landscape ?

Seeking a little help here. Easy for coders but I have no
coding knowledge.

There is not much to this , it has some action script. What
do I need to alter in the script to allow this to show the entire

I need this to work for A4 proportioned maps landscape. The
author says:- … Very easy to modify for you needs.
The download is of a square one. With an 18x25 shape map
replacing the square one I find it pans right then stops before
reaching maps right hand side. Map is landscape 18 x 25 and it gets
stuck 4.3 units from the far right.

any time you move the center point, you have to adjust the scale correspondingly.

Zoom and pan map?

Dear friends,
Over the last few months I tested an endless series of jQuery-based scripts to find a way to do a seemingly easy task: allow readers to zoom and pan to a detailed map on an ebook created through iBooks Author.
The result is that none of the scripts I tested worked as expected. For some unknown reason, they either do not zoom at all or they only show the low resolution preview and not the 3,000-pixel wide high-res map I'd like to use.
I know larger images can be zoomed when vewed full screen, but the image zooms back when the reader lifts his/her fingers from the screen. And that's highly awkward when studying a detailed map.
Also iBooks Author's Interactive Image function is not what I'm looking for, because I don't need labels and the zooming/panning is somewhat limited.
Does anybody know if there is any zoom/pan script that can be used as an HTML widget on iBooks Author? Please note that I have already sent a feedback note to iBooks Author developers.

I've noticed that imported photos are "optimized" for the iPhone and seem to be converted from whatever their original file size was (3MB or more) to the 2 megapixel resolution equal to what the internal camera creates. I've taken some pictures of documents for later review and the zooming works fine for that.

Zoom and pan a UITableView

Consider my entire tableview the view I want to zoom and pan. I put an outer view around the table view but could not get both zoom and pan to work. I can get zoom to work but it always leaves me on the top left with no panning abilities. I can get zoom and pan to work when I disable scrolling on the UITableView (which then only shows me one page)
Any ideas? I'm thinking I need to implement my own view instead of using table view?

I think that just answered my question. I had not thought of it like that. If I have panning, I don't need scrolling. Because scrolling is accomplished via a zoom and pan.

How to zoom and pan with Edge animate?

I am having this same issue! I am searching through forums on what tools to use to create a good zoom and pan on an image that contains hyperlinks an other things, developed in Adobe Edge Animate.
So far, here are some solutions I have come across:

These two seem to be the closest solutions to what I'm looking for. Now I just have to integrate the javascript into my adobe ege animate composition. Hopefully that won't be too hard. Are there any suggestions from the adobe community on how to do this?

Zoom and Pan in Captivate 6

I see all sorts of talk about the lack of a good zoom and pan in captivate 5.5, but I can't seem to find anything on this feature in Captivate 6. I've used Camtasia in the past and this feature really helps makes presentations pop. Does this feature exist within the newest version of Captivate.
I'm sorry if this has been asked/answered; I wasn't able to find anything.

NVidia error code 6 When zooming and panning a high res still image

I am consistantly getting the following error code which shuts down CS6. This is when zooming and panning a still images measuring something like 5300 pixels wide, and 4000 pixels high. I started by looking at the video driver, but nVidia says it is up to date. I am now wondering if the size of the still image is actually the problem? This is in a 1080 sequence.
Harware is GTX570
Any ideas?

Error Code 6 message - new challeng in the past 48 hours on very old premiere project.
My system - Win 7 64 byte serv pack 1, Ppro CS5.0.3, I7 processor, 12 g ram, nvidia gtx 470.
In the past 2 days, I am getting error code 6 from Nvidia on a logo that is keyed and 3d rolled on white background. The logo has been used without issue for many months in this same project and was encoded correctly by Adobe 1920 x 1280. Once this issue began, I had to render it 1-3 frames per request of project rendering last night. I imported the correctly encoded logo again to the project and it began to have the same issue again. I tried to change the harsh 3d rotations to see if it would relieve the processors overall. Nothing changed after it began to freeze up wtih the error message.
I saved, shut the PC down and left the system rest overnight.
This morning the project will get past the small load screen, but will not get past pulling the first file in the project once the editing screen loads. Prem Pro will launch correctly in all other projects this morning, but not this one. It gives me the same error message as it did when the problem started, but I can't even begin to touch the project. Message - "Hardware config doesn't meet min standards Error Code 6". I close the program, but then have to enter task manager to relaunch the program since it just hangs there.
My work around, when the project launched yesterday, was to render a much smaller amount of frames at a time which worked SLOWLY, but now I can't even access the program. Ouch. Backups are available from a few days ago, but I want to discover why this happened to avoid this issue for the future. Not much confidence at this point particularly when I rendered to match rez and deleted the media cache yesterday just in case the system was having to work around more cache than needed.
I have my computer hardware company looking into the issue, but I didn't take any known updates on the software in the past week. I thought this might be a thermal issue because we are having some challenges keeping our editing area cool enough, but that isn't the issue this morning because the other projects do launch correctly and the ambient temps are down. Thanks for any suggestions. I am a little slow to go out and see if there are any updates from Nvidia until I am out of options. I don't want to change the system scenario before I see if there are any other options.

Samsung built-in camera constantly zooming and panning

I have a new Samsung F8500 TV with a built-in, popup camera. I have tried the Skype app a few times and the camera keeps zooming out, zooming in, and panning on its own during the whole video chat. It is very distracting such that I don't know if we are going to be able to use the app anymore. The "Face Tracking" feature is turned off but it is almost like it is somehow still tracking movement or something. I don't see any other settings that might affect this. Is there a way to set a fixed zoom and pan for the camera?

Hi The mechanism for turning this off, is whilst you are on a call. Using the buttons which appear at the bottom of the screen whilst you are on a call, select the button that looks like a camera, and you should see an option allowing you to turn auto zoom/pan on/off. Once you have turned it off, the setting should be remembered each time you make a call. If that doesn't work, please let me know and I'll contact Samsung.

Zoom and Pan for Adobe Premiere Elements 12?

I have Adobe Premiere Elements 12. I would like to zoom and pan into a video, but without that slow zoom in/out effect. Basically, I want it like a quick cut close up then back to the original size. I've been trying but nothing seems to work. There's that slow zoom in/out every time I try to get a quick cut in and a quick cut out. Does anyone have any ideas to get this? Thanks

Please check into the details of the Premiere Elements 12 Pan and Zoom Tool. I think that you may be overlooking your opportunities for what you want with that tool, namely, the "Hold" set and the "Pan Time" set and combination there of.
