Using Mozilla Thunderbird to email photos

Hi everyone,
How do I set Thunderbird to be the default email program when emailing photos using Iphoto 6? Under preferences, it offers four choices (Mail, Microsoft Entourage, Encarta and something else.)
How do add Thunderbird to this list - or at least set thunderbird as the default?
Many thanks,
Richard

Richard
Simply, you can't do this.
If you want to set thunderbird as your default email client, you do this in the Mail Preferences. But that will not add it to the list in iPhoto.

  • Emailing photos using Mozilla Thunderbird

There was an article in the NY tImes this week that indicated you could mail photos directly from IPhoto using mail packages other than Apple's mail package. It said to go to IPhoto preferences, click on the General tab, and select an email program from the menu next to "Email photos using" I use Mozilla Thunderbird for mail but it doesn't appear on the menu. Is there a way to get IPhoto to recognize Thunderbird as an email package? Thanks for your help.

At this time the only supported apps are Mail, Entourage, Eudora and AOL. There is no way to add other clients.

  • Set mozilla thunderbird to email from iphoto?

because Mail is incompatible with my ISP--it works only if I call them up each time to change settings--a topic beyond my understanding--I cannot email photos unless I export them first, and use another program to make attachments. That is inconvenient, to say the least.
I am able to use Mozilla Thunderbird. However, I do not see a way to use Thunderbird with iPhoto. It is not listed as a choice under preferences. Is it possible to do that?

No it is not possible for you to add e-mail clients to iPhoto - but try posting your mail issue in the Tiger mail forum - http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=753 - millions and millions of people are using Apple mail with thousands of ISPs - your problem can be solved and you can join them

  • Can I use Thunderbird for emailing photos from iPhoto?

Under +Preferences>General>Email photos using+: gives me two options. One Mail and another Entourage. Now I am using Thunderbird for my mailing needs. How can I make iPhoto to use Thunderbird instead of Mail? Thanks!

In the Preferences to Mail there's an option to "Check for New Messages" and if you select "Manually" I think that will do what you want. However, as it's more a Mail query than an iPhoto one I would pop it on the Mail forum for your version of the OS.
Of course there are other ways to get photos to an email client. Does Thunderbird have a Media browser? You can access your Library from one - or make one in Automator which takes a couple of seconds. Or you can access your Library from every Open... or Attach... dialogue in the OS.

  • Can i use mozilla thunderbird with elements 12?

    HI,
I just upgraded from ape version 7 to ape version 12. Now it seems that I can no longer use my Mozilla thunderbird e mail program. Anyone else have this problem and if so how can I fix it?  Thanks in advance. Anzaya

You can do it in PSE, but it will be more efficient to do it in a program such as WORD or MS Publisher.
These programs have templates that correspond to the paper stock that is readily available. Use PSE to enhance any pictures, perhaps create or refine your logo, etc., then import the graphic into WORD.
You can download a free 30 day trial of PSE. If you like it, buy it.

  • How to Send an Email at a Specific Time in the Future Using Mozilla Thunderbird.

    Hi guys,
I downloaded Thunderbird for my Mac for one single purpose, simpy to be able to send an email by executing the time and date i wish my email to be send, automatically. The extension saves the message to draft and monitors the messages in the draft folder, when the chosen time arrives it moves the message to unsent and sends unsent messages. So i can send messages in the future.
I dont know how to manage this, and i would appreciate help and tutorials from you guys!

Why not read Thunderbirds tutorials and post in their forum area?

    Hi, welcome to the forums.
Are you getting any error messages, if so are they 553 ones ?

  • Using Mozilla Thunderbird as default e-mail client

How do I change the default e-mail choice from outlook express to thunderbird. There must be a lot of us that do not like outlook and want to send photos and other stuff via thunderbird.
Can anyone help me accomplish this

Your most welcome Rick. I'm just a newbie trying to figure this one out for myself, too. Has a lot to do with who your ISP is, too. For instance, I just learned that MSN won't even support you using Thunderbird. Pretty cheesy, I thought. I'm switching from them, probably today anyway. Had nothing but problems with me Inbox the last two months. I don't have time for this silliness.
I've been using Firefox now for several months and really like it, so it just made sense to start with Thunderbird, too. I'm calling Verizon here shortly to inquire if they will support Thunderbird. Otherwise, I'm absolutely amazed at how much of their ISP info they already have on their website, www.verizon.net. It's hard to find a good one these days. Remember to check on the mozilla.org site for additional help. They have their knowledge base, support forums - even one specifically for Thunderbird, etc. Pretty good operation. Best of luck to you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, too.
    Blessings,

  • Using "share" function to Email photos in 11

When using the "share" function to EMAIL phtos, they seem to go but do NOT show up in my SENT folder on my email. Does proof the email and photos being sent show up anywhere else?

iPhoto does not have a "Sent" mailbox. The trick is to bcc yourself, a setting in the iPhoto Preferences -> Advanced

  • What address to use in Thunderbird new email setup...

    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/47518/c/346
    3. Enter your name, full BT email address and password. Tick "Remember password" if you dont want to enter it each time you open your email
Trying to keep abreast of all the problems that are surfacing, forewarned is forearmed and all that, am I right to assume that will have to be NAME AT btinternet.com even if one is registered as btopenworld.com?

    Hi.
Currently (non transferred), you can use name, or name @ either of them - hence 3 ways, and all work with IMAP.
I would expect the same to exist after transfer ...
However, I don't actually agree with the article for Thunderbird - I use SSL/TLS rather than STARTTLS - hence port 993 rather than 143.
Again I need to check after transfer

  • Mozilla thunderbird on new 'puter rejecting my password

I recently purchased a new computer.  I was using mozilla thunderbird on my previous computer.  I liked it so I wanted to use it on the new one also.  I keep getting an error saying the "user name or password is wrong".  I can still receive and send email on my phone and through the web based browser, but I don't like using wither of those.  Also I have tried changing my password online, but I get an error saying "try again later".  Any suggestions before I call Verizon?
    Thanks...
    Solved!

Make sure you are on a recent release of Thunderbird.  Mine says 17.0.7

    server type pop
    server name pop.verizon.net port 995

  • Can I import Mozilla Thunderbird into Microsoft Entourage?

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my business emails. I understand it is difficult to get it into Mail. Microsoft Entourage has been installed. Can I import my Thunderbird account in this?

    See [http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/ Thunderbird Support]

  • Really Close to dumping Mozilla Thunderbird. The slowness is just not worth the hassle and the support sucks.

I have been using Mozilla Thunderbird for many years. It has always been a good system. Now, I get so when I hit delete, it takes a minute or two to delete the e-mail. I have tried to follow all the instructions on the help system and have turned off Mcafee each time I try to read my mail.
I am not a expert in computers but can usually follow directions fairly well. The fact that Mazilla's help system rely on asking questions of a group does not make it any easier to fix these issues. I see the same questions being asked by multiple people without clear answers to why this is happening.
Unfortunately, if this issue is not resolved shortly, I am going to have to dump Mozilla for another system..

Saying The support sucks is not exactly being polite towards those whom you expect some free help. I prefer to think that you are just frustrated and the offensive remark was unintentional.
It would be useful if you could provide some information about your situation, system etc
You have McAfee and say you ''turn it off'' when reading emails, you do not need to turn it off entirely, just stop it scanning emails. This will mean you do not have to keep switching it on and off.
Here are the instructions for doing this.
    * https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#McAfee
Please provide the following information, so that it is possible to get an understanding of your situation and setup:
    * What OS do you use?
    * What version of Thunderbird?
    * Is this an IMAP or POP mail account which has the issue?
    * If IMAP- is it a gmail account?
    * Do you have one or more mail accounts?
    * How frequently do you compact your folders?
    * When did last empty and compact your Deleted folder?
    * Do you have many folders?
    re: the Inbox
    * Is this folder used as an Inbox for new incoming mail with only a few emails in it or is it used to store a load of emails?
    * Have you set up Archive Options to archive by month and retain folder structure?
    * Do you Archive emails older than eg: a month, two months?
Please answer the above queries, so the forum understands your current situation.
