Using multiple i-devices on one PC iTunes

I just cannot get my head around the multiple devices/one PC issue. I hope I can get some help.
I have a Win7 PC running iTunes.
My wife and I have, between us, 2 iPads, 1 iPod, and 1 iPhone 4s.
I do not want them to be identical with each other, sync'ed together.
For instance, I like having the pdf of my camera user manual on my iPad and iPod, but I do not want my Bread Baking recipe book on the iPod.
Same for iPhone Playlists, I don't want my wife's lists on my iPod, and vice-versa. Same for apps, games, movies, photos, etc.
I understand how to create new libraries, but when I do, how do I populate the new lib. with the current device contents? With an empty lib, iTunes will erase the device, essentially.
I can't be the first person having this issue, and the solution cannot be so complex. Right?
Thanks for the help.
CB

Each device will ONLY sync what you have selected to sync.
Open itunes, connect one device, select what you want sync.
Do the same for each device.
No reason for different libraries, just don't select what you don't want.

  • How to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with one iTunes account

We recently received iPad 2's for Christmas and was looking for some advice on how to FaceTime and iMessage on multiple apple devices with One iTunes Account (Apple Id).  I have created or attached other e-mail addresses to our apple id but do not know how to use them on the new devices.  Our home MacBook Pro uses our main apple id for FaceTime.  The iPads have been setup with the main apple id w/o being able to use FaceTime and iMessage.
    Please Help...
I appreciate the help and support.

    P and V-
If you are trying to connect to someone with a different Apple ID, I think all the devices should work, but one at a time.
The problem is when you try to connect between two with the same Apple ID.  Once the calling device tries to make the connection, it finds the second device to be "busy".  That is where each needs to use a different E-Mail address when setting it up.
On iOS devices, when you press the Home button to exit an App, the App may still be active in the background, even when the device is sleeping.  If FaceTime or iMessage is merely being active that way, it may be enough to "tie up" the E-Mail address.
From the Home screen, double click your Home button.  You will see a list of recent Apps along the bottom of the screen.  Press and hold on one of them until they start to wiggle.  You will then see a red minus sign on each.  Pressing the minus sign will remove an App from the list, and stop it from working in the background.  (Click the Home button to stop the wiggling, and again to hide the recent Apps.)

  • Problems using multiple firewire devices

    Hey peeps
im working on a project in FCP and im reading the video and audio from an external firewire 800 hard drive, this works fine until i start to use my m-audio project mix to output the audio when i use both of these firewire devises together the sudio gets delayed.
I'm led to believe this is because the different firewires on my mac tower all use the same bus, is this true??
    and if so
can i get another firewire bus for my mac???
any help in clearing this up for me would be greatly appreciated
    seano56

You can't use the Project Mix on the same bus as your firewire drives. In fact it needs to be on its own bus. I believe that M-Audio even specifies this on the FAQ for the device.
Also, I've seen playback issues when you try to mix FW 800 and FW 400 devices on one bus. The way that FW works is that when you have multiple devices on the same bus, the whole chain slows down to the speed of the slowest device. So, even though the Project Mix uses a FW 400 connector, it may actually be operating at a lower speed like 100 Mbps. Thus the whole bus would slow down to 100 Mbps. I don't know the actual speed of the PM i/o, but this is just an example.

  • Multiple iCloud accounts on one Apple/iTunes account??

I'm still learning this iCloud thing. My husband and I each have iPhone and iPads. Our son also has an iPhone. Question is this: can we each have our own iCloud account but all use the one/original Apple/iTunes account? My husband set up his iPhone last night and I got a message on both my iPhone and iPad that he is using it for iMessages and FaceTime. I know this sounds confusing...you see why I need help!
    Thank you!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    Yes, many families do this.
You can each use your own Apple ID's for iCloud, FaceTime and Messages, but all share the same one for iTunes.

  • Multiple BlackBerry devices with one BIS account

    Hi,
I'm planning to get a second BlackBerry and I want to use it together with my current one (not at the same time of course). My provider (O2) supports up to three devices for one plan (they'll send me copies of my SIM card for the other devices, so they all can be active at the same time), so that's no problem. However, I also want to have both devices connected to my BIS account, so my mails will be pushed to both devices at the same time, and I want to be able to use BBM on both devices at the same time. I'm afraid that when I connect my new BlackBerry to my account, the old device will be disconnected automatically.
Has anyone tried that before or does anyone know where to find information about this matter?
    Best regards,
    Jonas

Well when you said copies of the SIM card, are they just giving you extra ones, each with a different SIM number? Each SIM card has a unique number associated with it so it should work.
Actually now that I think about it if it's a copy of the SIM card with the same phone number then I don't think it will work. Like you said before if you switch devices the new one will be active. I think if it's a different SIM card with a different telephone number (like an additional line on the account if you're on a family plan) then it should work.

  • Multiple different devices and one email account

    Hi guys,
Is it possible to receive emails immediately to the ipad or iphone? I know that the settings have to be on push messages which it is but the actual settings for the email account is for fetch only. Does that affect the time that the email gets received on either device? The email account is not an icloud email or the others that are listed as possible options, does this also affect download time?
I know there is an option to link many devices to one account with out affecting any of the devices but I cannot remember how. Assistance in this regard would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

An email account must support push access, which is not supported with a POP account.
Push access means as soon as an email is received at the incoming mail server, the incoming mail server pushes the email out without having to automatically or manually check the account for new email, which is Fetch. With Fetch, you can set the Fetch setting to automatically check the account for new email at a designated internal - every 15 minutes or every 30 minutes along with being able to manually check the account for new email in between the automatic check time interval.

  • Can I use multiple Apple IDs in one device on IOS 7 as I do on IOS 6 ?

I Used to live in the UK so I have many apps, albums and other stuff purchased from the UK stores. When I moved to the States I started to buy from the US stores.. With IOS 6 I can switch between stores and have content from both of them on my devices, can I do the same on IOS 7?

    "Method Three
Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open, quit it.
This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

  • We have multiple Apple devices under one roof. How to we sync our iOS devices to a single iTunes library?

    Hey all,
    Here's the scenario:
    We have Multiple devices
We would like to have one large library on either our NAS (preferred) or iMac.
The iMac will remain on 24/7 with the option to sleep. It will wake upon network activity. It has multiple accounts for each user.
We don't want to sit down and open up iTunes only to find out that library wasn't the same on that mac vs. another.
    Wireless as possible
Backup's run to the iMac vs. iCloud wirelessly.
    Equipment:
    My MacBook (2007 Black)
    Wife's MacBook (2008 Aluminum)
    "Family/Business" iMac
    My iPhone 4
    Wife's iPhone 4
    "Family" iPad2
    iPod 80gb
Is this super easy or am I totally over thinking this? It seems to me that this should be a no brainer, but I'm having a hard time on making it work and finding a good reference. Any help is appreciated!

  • How do I put all of my iTunes music from multiple computers / devices onto one external hard drive?

I have two desktop macs, a macbook air, two iPads, and two iPhones.  I have one Apple account that I use for all music - including music my college aged kids download.  My problem is that I would like to get all the music into one library, delete the duplicates, then have the external drive store all the music.  Is there a practical way to do this?  This way I can set up my devices so that they all have the same music and playlists.  Is this the best way to handle this situation?

The cheap and easy way is to just add all the media files as new items to a new library configured to store all on the external drive (start iTunes with the option key held down and tell it to create a new library on the external).  There won't be any automated way to prevent duplicates.  You're doing manual spring cleaning.  Of course if you add all the items as new items you will lose things such as playlists, date added, last played, etc.
I got these off the web so cannot rate them for you:
    PowerTunes - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/powertunes/ (commercial software)
    syncOtunes - http://homepage.mac.com/oligrob/syncOtunes/syncOtunes.html

  • Use multiple iTouch devices on single iTunes instance

I'm working with a school district and we'd like to install district created educational videos on approximately 200 iPod Touch devices. Can I use the same iTunes account to load videos on all 200 iPods? Thanks in advance.

    Hello Clyde,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Yes you can. There is no limit to the number of iPods you can have synced with one iTunes account or iTunes library for that matter.

  • Using multiple iPhone's on one iTunes account

Hello, im not sure if this has been asked, i had a quick look but couldnt get a 100% answer.
My wife and i have 2 iPhones using one iTunes account, both have been updated to iOS5. We both can use iCloud and all the new features of iOS5.
When both iPhone's were set up i sent an iMessage to one of my contacts, they recieved the message and replied, the reply came in and was recieved on both iPhones. I know you can turn off in settings on the iPhone that i do not want to recieve the reply to but in doing so i will turn off iMessage on that iPhone.
On my iPhone i set up iCloud with my default iTunes email, and my wifes set up a new @me account. This has over come the problem of using Find My Friends App, so now she can have her own account.
Now if her contacts do not have her @me email in thier contact for her, she will not be able to utilise iMessage from iPhone to iPhone. Then comes the issue with making purchases on her iPhone as she is logged in under her @me, but purchases must be made with my email account so i can also have the purchases. Now your prob saying just log into my account when making purchases, but if she does iCloud won't work due to the app was not purchased using the same email address.
All i want to be able to do is use 2 iPhones on one iTunes account, be able to have seperate Find My Friends set up, both be able to have each others purchases, both use iMessage to each other and friends, both use seperate iCloud accounts.
If i am doing something wrong please let me know, or if you know how to do it.
My other theory is, i have added a different @me account to my iTunes account, could i set her iPhone up using this account, seeing that this one is linked to my original acount?

The Apple account used for iCloud can be different than that used by the App Store.  In other words, your wife can use her own iCloud account and use your Apple ID for the App Store and thus you can share apps. To change the App Store ID, go to Settings/Store and tap on the Apple ID. Then tap Sign out, then log back in using you Apple ID.

  • Can I use multiple apple ids on one device

My family shares an iPad but we all have different ids and want to put our own apps on it. Is this possible?

As far as I know this is possible. Just log in with each single id under settings>store an redownload the apps from the app store (app store>downloads>purchased articles).
Though it will be difficult to do future updates, because only the updates of the id that is used for the moment are showing up.

  • Use multiple iPhones with 1 instance of iTunes?

    Hi Guys,
Be gentle with me as this is my first post and I'm not sure if this is correct discussion board, anyhow...
I have been tasked by my bosses to do some research on the possibility of using iPhones as a business communication, email and document device to be used by the senior management of my firm.
Basically, what we need is to be able to "sync" calenders, receive email, share documentation and contacts all using one instance of iTunes. This is to enable us to keep their data uptodate and identical etc.
The users also have the option of using iTunes at home to do non business work i.e. upload music and videos.
I am aware of the apple configuration tool to create multiple but identical "profiles" that can be applied to each and every phone.
    My questions are:
    1. Can we use one iTunes account (billed to the company using one credit card?) that can used by several staff at home? Or do we need to create accounts for every user?
    2. Is there any applications that can help us "sync" all phones either connected to our business version of iTunes or even "over the air"? Bearing in mind that if the user connects to iTunes at home it doesn't wipe important data!
    3. Can anyone recommend applications that we can preload onto the phones that will assist the user becoming familiar with the functionality of the iPhone? This would help us as we wouldn't have to show each and every user how the iPhone works!
    4. Lastly any advice on applications that would give us the ability to control and maintain all these instances of iPhones easily and without giving us a major headache?
    Thank you for any advice.
    MC

You should check into MobileMe. It's an Apple service that allows you to sync mail, contacts, and calendars over the air to your iPhone.
My wife and I both have iPhones and use MobileMe to keep them identical in terms of contacts and calendars.
You could use one iTunes account with multiple iPhones, however, you're not going to get over the air syncing.

  • How can I use multiple ipad's on one account without sharing individuals personal email accounts?

Is it possible to have multiple ipads on one account and share info, but also allow the individual users to have personal email that is not seen on the other ipad's? We have all ipads on same icloud account because we all need to see the same ical. It seems like that's the problem. If it IS related to icloud then if we have separate icloud accounts, how would we share the main ical otherwise? Sharing the ical is very important for this business so everyone can access the daily schedule. Of course each user still wants to have private email.
    Hope this wasn't too confusing!
    Thanks!
    Doreen

you could set up the main icloud itunes acount for ical and not have in setup on the devices
and share the calandar with the other itunes accounts on the devices
or only have it on one device
devices have the users indervidual itunes icloud setup
they should be able to access the shared "main" itunes icloud ical account once it's shared
    http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57542557-285/three-methods-for-sharing-an-ic loud-calendar/
if the devices are company owned you could go futher and setup find my iphone on the main itunes account
and not on the user icloud accounts
