Using multiple Iphones on one computer

My family has multiple Iphones and I was wondering if there is a way to have three seperate accounts on one computer? I don't want my apps or music to be synced on my son's or wife's phone. How do I do this? Help!

Create separate computer logins for each person. That way, everyone has their own itunes library/account, contacts, calendars, etc. Doing it that way also means there is no chance data will be intermingled. If you want, you can also share apps/music between accounts(permitted by the EUSLA with family members).

  • HT1386 Synching multiple iPhones on one computer

How do I synch multiple iphones on one computer. Last time I tried, I wiped out the contacts on one of the phones, so I want to be sure not to do this again. I don't want to wipe out any data on either of the phones (contacts, music, etc). I also am not sure what iphone I have, I've looked in settings and can't find it anywhere. Thanks!

I understand that. What is the purpose of synching then?  Maybe I should have said I want to share music between the devices, but that is all. And I don't want to wipe out any of the music on one of the phones, which is what happened last time I tried to synch.

  • Multiple iphones on one computer.........is it possible?

this may be a silly question but its one im having trouble finding any kind of answer for anywhere on the apple websites!
i have an iphone 3gs and my other half is also going to be getting one pretty soon, but the dilema is that we will be using it on the same computer, will we be able to do this? i know you cant use your iphone between other computers but dont know what the precedence is for multiples!
any help would be greatly appreciated!
    thanks!

Yes, you can sync multiple phones to one computer. If the phones are to have different content (e.g., calendar and contacts) the easiest way to do this is to have separate logins for each user on the computer.

  • How do I backup/restore multiple IPhone on one computer

    Hi everyone
Need some help here. I work as a helpdesk and recently most of the IPhones are now due for upgrade. What is the best way to backup the data from old Iphone and restore to new Iphone for multiple users on one computer?  Basically everyone expects to hand me their old phone and new phone, and when they get the new phone back, the new phone will have the same data as it was on the old one.
I have done backup/restore just for myself before. Is there a easier way to do for multiple users on the same computer?
    Any input will be appreciated
    Thanks
    Charlie

First of all, thanks for quick reply.
How about backup to icloud and then restore from icloud?  I did not bring it up because I do not want the backup/restore to cripple to network.
I would normally ask the users to take their old phone and new phone to AT&T store or Apple store to get it done. But as I work in corp office, and all I dealt with are the CEO, CFO, etc. They want the upgrade process done and without them getting involved (I try to keep it that way to make them happy).
    any thoughts?

  • Is there a way to use multiple ipods on one computer without them overwriting each other?

i have in total 3 ipods.
One is an the square ipod. (the one with the moving screen on the right)
the second is an ipod shuffle (the touch screen one)
and i just got an ipod touch. (the colorful one)
i still use all my ipods but on my first two i use the same itunes for it. so for example, i use one ipod to download all of my music library.
then i connect my second ipod only to download selected songs.
but now that i have an ipod touch, one of the ipods is going to be overwritten.
So is there a way for that not to happen?
having a flash drive for a seperate itunes for one ipod is to much of a hassle.
but if anyone has the answers, i would greatly appriaciate it.
    thanks! : D

Why do you think that one will be over written?
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like to one computer.  Each is different and will only sync what you select.

  • Syncing Multiple iPhones to one computer question

    Hello,
I am an iPhone owner, and I have always used my PC to sync the phone with iTunes. A friend of mine also owns an iPhone, however he doesn't have access to a computer with iTunes and was hoping to use mine. He's made several purchases between apps and music with the phone, and we want to sync some of his music from the iTunes library on my PC without causing him to lose the stuff already stored on his device. Is it possible to do this? When we tried before it looked like it was going to delete his purchases from the phone since they were not purchased with my account, which is the one I sign in to in my iTunes.
    Thanks in advance.

Itunes content ( apps/music/pics/etc) can be synced with only one computer.
If you sync to a different one, it will erase the itunes content from the iphone and replace with content from the new computer.

How to set up multiple iPads one one computer and one account?

Not a problem since each device is distinguished by a unique name and has its own sync settings for apps, music, photos, etc.

...meaning that it shows your name on the left? Try changing the name of one of them, take off the dock, and the insert the other. It may have just named it the same in the setup.

  • How do I use 2 iPhones with one computer (iTunes)

My wife & I each have an iPhone. Everytime I sync we both end up with the same songs, apps, etc. Is there a way that we can use the same computer for syncing but have our own separate libraries on our phones?

Create her own user acount on the PC.

  • Using multiple Ipods on one computer

I just purchased an Ipod Nano to use in addition to my older Ipod on my home Windows computer. How can I use Itunes to support both Ipods without having to repurchase all my music?

You just plug in the Nano. iTunes will recognize that it's a separate device, with it's own preferences. Music you've purchased from the iTunes Store can be synced to all your iPods.
I'm currently syncing three iPods to the same library. I use the Sync Selected Playlists option (look on the Music tab) to determine what music gets put on which iPod.
    Best of luck.

  • Issue syncing multiple iPhones on one computer.

    Hello all,
I don't get any errors or anything like that.
My issue is that iTunes keeps putting the wrong contact and email information on the wrong phone. Well, it keeps trying to put ALL contacts and email accounts on both phones.
I have one phone set up to only sync with Outlook Express and the Windows Address Book. That phone also is only set to sync the one and only email account in Outlook Express.
The other phone is set to sync with Outlook and the Outlook Calendar and contacts. It is also set to only sync with the two email accounts for Outlook.
I have verified that the settings show correctly for both phones in iTunes, yet when I sync a phone it puts all contacts and all email accounts onto that phone. This is rather annoying as I don't want or need the info from my wife's phone and she doesn't want or need the info from mine...lol.
The phones are 3 days old now, and I installed the latest version of iTunes the day I bought the phones. All available updates were applied to both phones before any information was set up in iTunes as far as syncing goes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it talks about iPods but the same applies to iPhones. most users employ *method two*.

My 2 kids have an ipod touch each. How do I create their own files so that they do not have to have eachothers choices and games on eachothers device? As well, we have 2 iphones that are connected as well.

    Yo should read the manual.
Open itunes, connect device, select what you want to sync, sync, disconnect device
Connect other  device, select what you want to sync, sync, disconnect device
Connect other  device, select what you want to sync, sync, disconnect device
Connect other  device, select what you want to sync, sync, disconnect device

  • Multiple iPhones with one one computer

I was using multiple iPhones with one one computer, each iPhone device has it's Owen Apple ID. When I connected my device. I got my mothers photos, contacts & applications. All my applications are deleted, is there a way to retrieve my iPhones photos and applications ?

Sign out of your mom's account in itunes, then sign in with your account, then restore your phone from your itunes backup.

  • What are the options to use itunes with multiple accounts on one computer

I am totally confused; apple phone support seems to have no clue at least the person I spoke to. I want to get two iTunes accounts on one computer, one exists already. I am not sure what apple allows in this case. I was told at a apple store that if you create another PC profile you should be able to get the second iTunes account on the same computer with the new windows profile. There seems to be no info on the discussions board to this issue.
I do not want to share an account and have a second library I think it would be too confusing for the other person. Is this possible?

You can purchase music using multiple accounts within the same Windows profile & using the same iTunes library. I think when you log into the store it remembers the last account name used, but provided you don't let it remember your password then you have the opportunity to enter the correct details for each purchase.
If you're going to place these purchases on your respective iPod's the following may help.
*How to use multiple iPods with one computer*
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iPods using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their iPod. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • What is the best way to operate 2 separate iphones on one computer

    HI - HELP PLEASE.....
My wife has an iphone and an itunes account registered on her computer - i have just bought an iphone and i want to register it to the same computer, create and itunes account, but we want to keep out apps & music ect seperate - what is the best way of doing this?  Thanks.
    rb999

The best way is a matter of personal taste. The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways, each with their own pros & cons. For instance if you generally share one profile on the computer already, creating another just to support a different iTunes library may be inconvenient. Switching libraries within the same profile ought to be as easy as opening two different documents, but it isn't. If you have some cross over in your taste for music and apps you may find a shared library is actually easier to manage.
We don't have two iPhones in the family as yet but as I understand it each device can have separate settings for syncing calendars and contacts. For example my iPhone syncs these over the air with the Exchange server at work so if/when my wife gets an iPhone it would be easy to have hers sync to our computer.
If you go down the shared library route you can make sure your apps don't inadvertently merge by turning off Automatically sync new apps from the apps tab when you connect your device.
For media I use the sync with selected playlists method with a slight twist.
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.
