Using multiple iPod Touch units with a single instance of iTunes.

My wife and I both have the iPod Touch. She syncs hers on her computer, I sync mine on my computer... If I want to transfer an .mp3 or .mp4 video from my device to hers what's the best way to do that?
I tried to plug hers into my computer and iTunes opened but iTunes will not let me drag and drop music or videos (not even .mp3s) into her iPod Touch and she can not transfer anything into mine.
What is the work around to this? Why is this so?

*Apple doesn't allow you to sync multiple iPods*
Sure they do.
Plug it in and it will sync. Plug in another and it will sync.
iTunes does not sync from the iPod to the computer (except for iTunes purchases).
If I want to transfer an .mp3 or .mp4 video from my device to hers what's the best way to do that?
You can't go iPod to iPod.
Copy the music from her computer to your computer.
Or set your iPod to Manually manage music, plug into her computer and drag the music to your iPod.
I am unable to manage the other iPod.
You don't need to do it on both and you cannot go iPod to computer.
You can if you copy the files into the iPod in the Finder, then plug into the other computer and drag from the iPod in th eFInder to the desktop, then add to iTunes.

  • Anyone using an iPod touch 4g with Vulkano Flow?

    I'm using Vulkano Flow with a PC, and iPad3 and an Ipod touch 4g iOS 5.1--all wireless.  Everything is using the same network in the same location.  The PC and iPad are working great (2.5-3.5Mbps) but the iPod is constantly "buffering" and pausing every 3 seconds until it just says try again later.
    Is anyone else using the Vulkano and what kind of results are you getting?   Anyone have any suggestions?  I've tried removing and reinstalling the Vulkano Player App with no change.  I'm using the same settings for all devices.

    Try the following to ryle out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Using my ipod touch 5G with speakers designed for the iPod touch 4G.

    Is there any way to do this? I just realized the bottom of my ipod touch 5G is completely different than the 4G I own, and my speakers (HK go+play micro) is made for the older version. The connector is way too large for the 5G. Is there a way to connect it, or am I stuck having to buy a new set of speakers? :/
    Thanks in advance.

    One of these adopters/cables may work. However, some docks are not compatible with either the Lightning connector or the IOS on the iPod (sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility). Thus go to the manufacturer's support site to see it it will work with the adopter.

  • Ipod Touch 2G with passcode, says connect to iTunes then iTunes says type in passcode but can't b/c it's disabled, can I fix it without restoring it or no?

    Please help ! I don't want to lose all the data on there if i don't have to !! Can I fix this without restoring it? Is there a way to get it unlocked again where I won't lose data on there? Thanks !!

    You'll have to restore your device: iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
    If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • HT1495 how to use multiple apple id's with a single itunes account

    I am looking to set up two iphones and a two ipads (one for me and one for my fiance) to a single itunes account to allow us to load music and apps from the same itunes account but be able to have seperate accounts for facetime on our phones and ipads.  Any recommendations on the best way to do this?

    You cannot do that. Each Apple ID needs to be tied to each separate account. Each of you must purchase your own copies of music and apps and sync to separate iTunes Libraries on the computer. The computer must have to user accounts set up - one for you and one for your fiance.
    Sharing Stuff From Different iTunes Accounts (or Computers)
    Here's how to do so using different computers:
    Transfer what content you want to the separate iTunes library on each computer. To transfer content from your library to another library do the following. We'll assume this is between husband and wife separate accounts and different Apple IDs.
    Launch iTunes under your wife's login;
    Sign her out of iTunes, then you sign in;
    Select iTunes -> Preferences -> Devices -> Disable auto-sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected;
    Connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC;
    Select Store -> Authorize this Computer (only have to do this once);
    Select File -> Transfer Purchases (all of the purchased content on your phone will be transferred to your wife's library);
    When complete eject your phone, sign out of iTunes, sign your wife back in.
    You can now sync whatever content you want to your wife's phone. Just remember all updates to apps obtained using your account must be done while signed in using your account: sign wife out, you sign in, update apps, you sign out, sign wife in, sync her phone.
    This way you can share content (permitted under the EUSLA) and still maintain your separate logins. Do the same on your computer if you want to share content from your wife's library.
    Just load whatever content you want to share on each others phones, transfer the content, then delete it from the respective phone if you don't want to keep it there.

  • Wifi for multiple ipod touches

    Trying to get multiple ipod touch units online with a single Apple router. I can get 5 connections and then the 6th+ won't allow a connection. Tried different routers that will run 20+ computers wirelessly but still stuck on only 5 ipod touches allowed at a time. Help!

    You need to make sure the DHCP range is wide enough for all the devices you are running. I can think of nothing that would prevent you from running as many as you want at one time. Go to an Apple store - they probably have 50+ iPhones and touches on line at any given moment.
    Anyway, more information about your network setup would be helpful. You didn't really post enough information to come up with any kind of meaningful help.

  • Multiple iPod Touchs with Facetime linked to a single Apple ID

    I have Multiple iPod Touchs (7 to be exact) with Facetime linked to a single Apple ID using different email addresses but all connected to the same WiFi network. Problem is that when I try to call one from another, multiples ring. I can call my iPhone4 with no problems even when the iPhone4 is on the same WiFi (iPhone4 is also linked to the same Apple ID). From what I have read, this should work and, in fact, it does.... sorta. Does anyone know how to get the calls to be answered by only the iTouch that is associated with that email that I am calling?
    Thanks in advance....

    Hey EZ Jim,
    Thank you so much for your responce.
    You're welcome.
    But, actually, that is exactly what I did. For example, I assiged the email address itouchone ... to the first one and itouchtwo ... the second and so on for all seven. Still, they are answering each others calls (usually multiples). For instance, I call itouchone... and itouchone, itouchthree, itouchfour, and itouchseven answer.
    (1) If some or all of the seven emails you used are Dot Mac or Mobile Me email addresses, they may be aliases that will not work.
    Info about dot Mac or Mobile me addresses:

    (2) If the seven emails you used are literally those you posted, perhaps creating more and using each as a separate iD rather than merely caller iDs associated with only one iD could get FaceTime working.
    I would start with only two iPods. Once you can make two work, you can replicate the solution five more times.
    (3) Did you consider all relevant info in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319
    I am totally confused. Could it be that facetime is sending out both the primary ID and the associated id? Help!!!
    Thanks again,

  • Using multiple ipods on a single itunes

    I currently have a 40GB ipod and have bought for my wife and daughter 2 2gb ipod nanos'. i have all our music on itunes in one library, how can i download only the songs my wife or daughter want onto their ipods as opposed to downloading every item which is what happens with my ipod currently
    Hope you can help
    Thanks
    Dave

    There are a couple of recommended methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have individual Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. Each iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists.
    Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or all iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look at this article and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
    Another option when using a single library is to set the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod
    Choosing the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" (called Sync Music - Selected playlists in iTunes 7) allows you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPods. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod ( for example, around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB Mini or Nano). You can read more about playlists at these links:

  • How do i use 2 ipod touches with 1 itunes account?

    how do i use 2 ipod touches with 1 itunes account?  can they share apps and music etc. I'm not very good at any tech so advise would be much appreciated.

    Yes. You can sync an unlimited number of iDvies that you control to one iTunes library/account. If using the same iTunes library on the same comutr just make sure that yu go to the ap. music and other pane for the iPod in iTunes and select sycn selected items. Not the the whole library.  That way each iPod can have it own contents.

  • HT1206 Can I use one iPod Touch with 2 accounts and download from both accounts?

    Can I use one iPod Touch with 2 accounts? Can I download onto the one iPod from each account?

    I havent seen anything confirming this but I suspect not. that would require you keep logging in and out of the two accounts since you can only sign in to one at once. In iTunes on your computer if you log into another iTunes account you can't log into another one for 90 days. As I say I've seen nothing confirming this on a mobile device, but I suspect it will be the same.

    What do I need to do so that my daughter can also maintain a plat list on my PC.

    Also, you can have many different playlists set up in one iTunes library and have iPods just sync from one playlist.
    I am assuming you want two different libraries?

    I bough a iPod touch 5 with iOS 6.1.1. I bought it from a friend. When I tried to open a account with iCloud it says that all user Ids have been used. So now I'm unable to sign up for iCloud.  Also vI just tried to download a. App from the App Store, and when I put in my password it says that my apple user I'd is disabled. Please help.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another device or computer.
