Using MUSE to create HTML email

I'd like to use MUSE to create HTML email. This requires embedding (or adding inline) the CSS file(s). Any suggestions as to how to accomplish this??

Hello Ben,
It is not possible to add inline styles/CSS within Muse. I would suggest you here to Export your webpages to HTML by clicking on File>Export to HTML and then make the changes manually in the HTML code using some HTML editor.

Has anyone used Muse to create a static web page (html and xml) that gets translated into a Joomla template?

Obviously I am out of my league. I am not a programer and I thought this would be something simple, but you guys are talking over my head.
I thought I could create a simple link to the Happy.rdp and it would run...but as mentioned, you can't do that.
What I have is a java script with a bunch of parameters (see below) that creates a pull-down menu. I was hoping I could list the names of the servers, click on the one I want to connect to, and I would get the log-in screen. That is my goal.
I have a "Happy.rdp" icon on my desktop and I click on that and the remote connection starts. I have opened "Happy.rpd" in notepad and it has all the parameters (such as the IP address and stuff) that allow me to connect.

Can I use my newly created iCloud email address as my Apple ID?

Hey,
I know there have been loads of post regarding iCloud and account issues. I was wondering if it was possible to use my newly created iCLoud email address as my Apple ID and its primary address. I had a hotmail account as my Apple ID before signing up for iCloud. For me it's purely cosmetic and I want to retire that hotmail address.

if you create a new apple id you get the option to use a free icloud email as the apple id, but old users are stuck?

Help needed with creating HTML email in Dreamweaver

Hi everyone, would really appreciate some help with a dilemma or two that I have.
I have created the following newsletter in Dreamweaver and uploaded it to our website:

Now, when I go into my email mass mailing client (Handymailer) and send a test out, I encounter a couple of problems.
Firstly, in Outlook when I receive the email, the grey table on the right of the eshot, is crushed and a lot of the single line text is forced to go over two lines...
Secondly, in Hotmail, the table displays fine, but it does say that "This message is too wide to fit your screen. Show full message."
Once I click "Show full message" it displays in full, but I then need to scroll across to the middle of the browser to view the email.
If I left align the newsletter will this problem be solved? Or is there a way in Dreamweaver that I can edit the entire page size so that it's not too wide?
The table is 600px wide so I assumed that any email sent out would shrink to this size.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is the first full HTML email I have sent out so it's going to be far from perfect!

Make the transparent gif 1px high.
Is it the links in the right column that go onto two lines? If so that could be because the links are wider than the actual column itself..so you will have to make column wider.

Creating html email with apple's mail

How do i get an html page (created in Dreamweaver) to show up in apple's mail window?
I want the html page to display. If I just attach the html file all I get is an icon of the file not the look of the html file (ie with background color and placed photo and html text). I know to have the placed image with an absolute reference (ie. http://www.whatever.com/image.jpg)

Tiger Mail uses Apple's new WebKit authoring engine, creating complex HTML email messages with Mail's trademark simplicity. However, most of the power of that engine is inaccessible. Aside from the addition of an "Add Hyperlink…" menu item, Mail's composition window offers no better text or layout controls than 10.0's Mail did in 2001.
Tiger was replaced by Leopard last October, and Leopard Mail has a new feature called Stationery which might provide some of what you are talking about:

Creating HTML email newsletter

Looking for a program for creating newsletter emails containing graphics and pictures etc.., not sure what it is called. Like what you get from Apple, Borders or any big company.

I just did one recently by hand, and so have some fresh experience; it's HTML & CSS at the crux of it.
Learned that there are unique parameters beyond web page knowledge that must be considered when doing this. There are a lot of quirks that you need to test against; many email clients render html emails differently and so it's a matter of getting a good balance of aesthetic & features. Plus you don't want to leave out people who prefer to use text only in their email... (they exist are are numerous for better or worse).
The quickest way to get up and running is probably to do your newsletter design in your preferred HTML editing program, view the page in Safari, then hit CMD-I (in Leopard).
The result won't be as professional (or size efficient) as it could be, but it's a quick start.
After spending about 2 days rolling my own, I still would love to know the workflow Apple uses haha!

Using Muse to create a Chrome extension/app

Hello,
We're creating a touchscreen for a tradeshow using Muse. Using Chrome in "Presentation Mode" the site looks good, functions correctly, and fills the monitor. The problem is that when dragging a finger across the touchscreen it starts highlighting the images. As a workaround I've been trying to create a Chrome extension/app with the Muse generated files, however for some reason the buttons aren't working.
- Does anyone have any ideas about why the buttons aren't working within the context of a Chrome extension/app?
- Are there other alternatives for running an HTML 5 site fullscreen in a kiosk type mode so that it functions like an application as opposed to a website?
I'd appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Cheers - it's really an initial looksee. I've done a bit of
website design up to database stuff using mySQL / PHP, and some
basic flash stuff, so I get collared with any web related stuff -
but I enjoy it (do a bit of freelance stuff in my own time) so am
keen to develop those skills as much as i can. So my checking it
out on here is really to try to keep me a step or two ahead of
anything we might look to do.
So I'm really coming to it knowing that Flash can do it, but
not sure where to start with - on the one hand it's reinventing the
wheel of something like the non Flash Multimap, but on the other we
need to start somewhere, and we came across an interesting article
in a cartographic journal about the site above that did it in
house, on the cheap, and with a good user experience (ie smooth
zooming, rather than redrawing) just using Flash.
I don't really know much about action script - so if you know
of any good tutorial type things kicking around the net anywhere
that might achieve in the first instance that exercise of having a
big map image load in the background with a limited area that could
be navigated around, that would be a great start.

Can I create html emails in iWeb?

I see those html emails with the colours and the embedded images and links to the website. The programming doesn't seem tough but I don't know how to create them and then how to send them.
I use Entourage for email but am not married to it, and wondered if anyone had any resources. I'm looking to do a newsletter style email (images links to site, etc.), not that different from an eVite, but I've not heard of anyway to create them.

The way you do this currently is to create your web
page, open it with Tiger Safari, and use the menu
item for emailing the contents. However you may need
to put your page on a server and I think pages
created with iWeb may not work that well -- you would
need to experiment.
I just did this both ways. Creating an email from an iWeb site hosted on the internet worked OK... but didn't pick up the background graphic, tiled.... maybe I just didn't wait long enough! (Ha!)
And I did it from the local files on my computer, (Publish to Folder), and it worked much better, picking up the background immediately.
So....open the page you want (index.html) in Safari>File>Mail Contents of this Page.
Would work GREAT just for doing an email Newsletter with Graphics and such!

Creating HTML emails

Hi, guys!
I'm a print guy, not a web guy, so please show me the path! I can do a little HTML and CSS, but nothing fancy.
My company is asking me to take over an email newsletter that is sent out embeded into the email body as an HTML message. It was orginaly done (not by me) in MS Word using tables, and those things will strech out after being sent.
I ahve 3 questions:
1. Why are the table stretching? Is it because they were done using Word tables?
2. 100% of the people who will be receiving this will open it using MS Outlook. If I'm designing for Outlook, do I need to build using tables, or can Outlook interpret CSS Divs?
3. Some people will be using outlook in mobile devices. Is there anyway to create a mobile version for them or is this the kind of thing I'd need to host on a web page to pull off?

Tables are globally supported. CSS is not, on some of them. It depends on the demographic that you're sending this out to. If it is majorly Outlook only, look at the link above to see what fits you best and create your newsletter.
Another best practice is to include a text link to a webpage containing the same newsletter to the top of your newsletter - this way, if the newsletter doesn't load on the e-mail client, users can still click on the link to see the exact same newsletter as a webpage on your website.
You may also want to look at http://www.mailchimp.com - It's a great service, they have a free plan too. You may want to try it out. Very user-friendly and easy to create/ administer.
Other than that, you don't have to use MS Word. You could do it using Dreamweaver or any HTML code editing program - even Textmate can do it for you as long as you know your code.
Quick tip: Be sure to load up the images to your webserver and link to them as an absolute link in your HTML code so the images are loaded from your webserver. You cannot provide local/ relative links like you'd do in a normal webpage as you're sending this out via e-mail and relative links won't show up.

The body has a lot of tables. Each table was a background color in header and another background color in the other lines.

Creating html email newsletter in Outlook 2003

Hi,
I've had a good look through the forum and haven't been able
to find the answer to this (most likely) simple issue. I have
created an email html newsletter in DW 8 and I have found out how
to copy/paste the code into an Outlook Express email's source, but
how do I do it in Outlook 2003???
I'd be grateful if someone could put me out of my misery :-)

You can place your HTML file in your Stationery Folder,
then open Outlook,
select that file as Stationery,
Select your recipients (or group) and send.

Using iweb to create an HTML email

Simple question and I'm sure it has been asked, but I can't find the answer. I am pretty new to html coding and was wondering if I could use iweb as a sort of wysiwyg editor to create html emails. Would this work? Thanks!

It doesn't always work that well, but the way to do it is to publish your page and then view it with Safari and use File > Mail Contents of this Page.
The stationery feature of Mail.app in Leopard is an alternative.

Hi all of the above work, our question is how to control the RTF (Rich Text Field) look up values to the InfoPath 2010 form in the HTML email?
How to FORMAT the RTF look up value? in the HTML email
EXAMPLE
we have a InfoPath 2010 form published in the SharePoint 2010 custom list library there are 5 RTF fields (Notes1, Notes2, Notes3, Notes4, Notes5) there are other plain text fields, date fields, and other field types in the form
We use a HTML table to make the email look like the InfoPath form, so when the users fill out the form and they get the email notification everything looks the same.
Our problem is the EXTRA LINE SPACE in the RTF look up values
We want to remove any leading spaces, and line spaces between HTML table cells
Our Workflow has the HTML in a Workflow variable, as you know it does not support remote CSS it has to be in-line style for any formatting we want all cells to have
valign="top" the email should align at the top of the cell, all field types do except the RTF look up values they make the email look bad and they contain a lot of white space.
Please test this in your enviroment

there are some notes that perhaps you may check:
Use the same font for all the controls to ensure consistent spacing between rows.
Choose Size from the Format menu, and then choose To Fit from the menu that appears. This adjusts the size of each control, depending on the font set for the data that appears
in the control.
NOTE: The Print Preview and Output To commands use different algorithms for calculating text width; therefore, the text may occupy more or less
space in the RTF file.
Reduce the amount of blank space above and below the report controls. Any vertical
space between the controls is converted to whole lines
in the RTF file. For example, a
space of .02 inches can increase to .1667 inches in the
RTF file.
Make sure controls on the same output row are not too close to each other or overlapping. This can cause the Output To command to omit the controls or to align the columns incorrectly
in the RTF file.
Use the Align command from the Format menu to ensure that a row of controls is aligned properly on the report. If a row of controls is not aligned properly, the Output To command may place the controls
in different rows, causing extra blank
spacein the RTF file.
and please have a check there are updates for exchange 2013 and will be available with the upcoming release of CU4 for Exchange 2013, that stated the format rtf was saved instead HTML. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2862739/en-us

Oddly enough, when creating HTML emails, you WANT to use inline styled Tables or image maps instead of floats.
Mail Chimp and iContact have some excellent templates and tutorials to help you get started with HTML email campaigns.
