Using music from a pc

I sort of wrote about this earlier today but not sure I framed the question correctly.
My 16 y.o. daughter has a PC and she down loads tons of junk. After running Norton Anti Virus on her computer today I see she has a number of trojans on her PC.
She has sent me music from her computer and I've put it in my iTunes. I'm not sure where she got the music (some I know is from iTunes but some is probably from places she shouldn't get it like limewire, etc). I know those places are notorious for having viruses and trojan in some of their downloads.
Could my iMac somehow pick up her trojans that are in her PC or do those trojans only infect PC's? I'm a new Mac user so I'm not sure how that works?
Susan

Shouldn't be a problem. A trojan written and compiled for Windows just isn't going to run on OS X.

  • Is there a way to use music from multiple users itunes libraries on one iMac for a slideshow in Aperture?

I am trying to put together a slide show for a trip my wife and I took to England. I would like to be able to use music from both our itunes libraries in the slide show. I am using Aperture to create the slide show since it seems to be more versatile than iPhoto for this. Only trouble is that when I log into my username on the iMac I only see my iTunes library and similar when logging into her username. We have different music but would like to use some from each library in the slide show.

You can only use one library at a time in an Aperture slideshow, so I'd suggest to simply collect the audio that you want to use in a folder (export the songs from both iTunes Libraries) and then import this folder to Aperture. Now you have a project containing the audio files; you will see it in the Aperture Audio section of the audio Browser, right above the iTunes section.
You can use the Apperture audio just like the audio in iTunes to drag to the timeline of your slideshow.

  • I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning was corrupted. What steps should I take to export iMovie for youtube?

I made an iMovie, 6.0.3 using music from iTunes and photos from the Internet. It looked fine on iMovie, but when I uploaded it to youtube, some of the photo near the beginning were corrupted on youtube. I tried a different photo, and the corruption took place at the same moment of the video. How do I prepare the video for export to get it ready for youtube? I wasn't sure whether to clik web or web streaming. Am I supposed to clik Quick Time after I clik Share?

I unfortunately cannot remember where I got the 'trrndlines' plugin... I assume that it must have been from CFX (as it is located under /Users/Dom/Library/iMovie/Plug-ins/cfx/XXXtrrndlines.bundle).
As for what it does, I also do not know, as I do not think I ever used it in my previous video projects.
At this stage, I think I just need to uninstall it so that iMovie doesnt try to use it.
Do you know how to uninstall a CFX plugin in iMovie?
NOTE: I have re-installed iMovie 6.0.4 (instead of iMovie 6.0.3), but still encounter the same issue.

  • How can I use music from two different iTunes accounts?

how can I use music from two different iTunes accounts?

If you mean iTunes Store accounts, there's really nothing for you to do. Just add the tracks to the iTunes library and play them. Music purchased prior to late-2009 will been to be authorized, though. Pull down Store > Authorize... and type the credentials of the Apple ID used to buy the tracks.
If you mean something else, please describe in more detail.

  • How do I use music from different ID's in iMovie

I am "upconverting" my old iMovie swim shows to HD, which means remastering and re-linking some of my videos and even some of my pix.
We have been using iMovie since 2008 so I know it's changed a lot but there's one thing that's become really aggravating and I'm hoping there's an answer.
When we first started, we bought songs under two different ID's (big mistake--never do that!) and used songs from both ID's in previous iMovies without a problem. But iMovie '10 refuses to let me use songs from a different ID, even though I have authorized this computer for songs from that ID, and I have the password to the account, etc. etc.
And here's the really aggravating part: It's only a few songs and at this point, it's not worth my time to figure it out. I'll just buy the music again and give the no-good record industry a little extra cash for something I presumably own. EXCEPT iTunes thinks I already own that song (I do) so it won't let me buy it again, even if I delete it.
Now I'm really stuck. iMovie won't let me use the music from another ID, but iTunes won't let me buy it on the new ID cuz it knows I own it from the old one. Arrrgggggh!

First of all if you havent done it yet i think u shold authorize the mac on both accounts on itunes. You also can switch the accounts on your Iphones at itunes while you are in the internet adn download the music.
This is just an idea you should think of. For sure there are other ways I dont know.

Some of my music was purchased with an old email address (old account) which is no longer valid. Since it has been a long time since we used the email address we no longer know the password. Now I can't access the music from my old account due to using a new computer. I've purchased the music and downloaded cds with the old account and need to be able to get my music.

  • Is it legal to create a company video using music from iMovie?

Hi, I'm making a presentation for my company using Prezi and am adding loop music to it from iMovie. It will be a corporate video that will appear on our homepage. The music from the iMovie (iPad) theme called "simple". I would just like confirmation that this is legal with respect to copyright. There have been some contradictory answers to this question on forums. Some people say that it's all royalty free as long as it's not used for commercial use (does this count as commercial use?). Others have said that they've had problems uploading the videos to youtube for copyright reasons.
Could someone clarify this for me? The last thing we want is a legal case against us for copyright infringement!
    Thanks v much in advance!
    Sam

In order to do effective time-lapse photography, you need two things - a tripod and an intervalometer. An intervalometer is a device to trip the shutter every X seconds. If you are going to play your time-lapse video at the usual 24 fps, you need to trip the shutter 24 times just for one second of video. Five minutes of video means 24 frames for one second X 60 for one minute X 5 = 7,200 frames.
Canon DSLRs have an input to accept a remote shutter release, but I don't think the smaller point-and-shoots have this capability. The SX 280 has WiFi capability, but I think that's only for sending pictures to your phone or social media sites. But… it might be possible to have your phone trip the shutter remotely (check your manual). If so, there are a number of iPhone apps (possibly Android too) that can act as intervalometers.
    Good luck!

  • How can you use music from a different itunes account on the same iphone

i bought my iphone 4s and had an apple id.  then changed my apple id, but lost my music on my phone. can i keep music on my phone from another apple id, itunes?

Paid content purchased from the itunes store is always assigned to a single apple id. You will be unable to use the purchased content on another apple id.
Next time you change your apple id instead of creating an entire new apple id just change the primary email address to the email you would like to use.
e.g. current apple id is [email protected] but you want to change it. what you do is:
    - go to appleid.apple.com
    - select manage apple id
From here what you want to do is change/edit your current primary email which in this case is [email protected] Simply select edit and enter the new email you would like as your apple id. Lastly you will be sent a verification email to verify the email addres and TADA your done.

  • Am I licensed to use music from iMovie on You Tube?

I made a video on iMovie with all original content. The only thing I used that was not mine was the (I thought) royalty free music and sound effects that iMovie supplies. I publised it on You Tube. I just recieved an email from YouTube mthat says:
Your video "Oregon Coast Ocean View Home for Sale - Port Orford", may have content that is owned or licensed by rumblefish, but it’s still available on YouTube! In some cases, ads may appear next to it.
This claim is not penalizing your account status. Visit your Copyright Notice page for more details on the policy applied to your video."
And my video now has ads playing next to it! You ube does this without any prior notification, nor any way to contact the supposed owners of the license/copyright.
Is this correct? Can they do this? If not, why is Apple allowing these guys to hijack our videos for  profit?
    Thanks for any insight.
    Judy

This question comes up from time to time. YouTube and Facebook are both wrong.

There are a number of con-men who think that they can earn a quick buck from claiming that they own the copyright to Apple’s royalty-free jingles and sound effects included with the iLife applications. These are all free to use.

  • Using music from itunes store

    Hey everybody,
This is my problem: I recently purchased an audio track from iTunes Music Store, in mp4. When trying to run it on FCP, to use it in a film of mine, it turns out mute, unreadable by the application. I tried changing the extention of the music file from mp4 to mp3 or wav, but it didn't work. I also tried exporting the music file as a Quick Time Movie, but FCP still won't read it.
Can anyone help me with that?
    Thank you very much.
    Stef.
P.S. This song is very rare, I already tried looking for a CD somewhere; there is none.

If it is "protected AAC" from iTunes, it cannot be used in FCP, iMovie, et al. iTunes will not transcode it, either, other than to burn it on a CD as AIFF (hint).
If the film is for other than your personal use, you need a synchronization license to use it with video of any type (and I'm not sure about the personal use, either, what with the Millennium Copyright act and its restriction on "reverse engineering").

  • Can you burn CD's using music from home sharing?

I just purchased a new iMac and want to burn some CD's but don't want to move all my music over from iTunes to my new iMac from my older Windows computer unless I absolutely have to. Is it possible to burn music that is on my Windows computer on my iMac?
....and yes, I have a superdrive.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I suggest that you transfer the required tracks to your new computer, burn them then delete.
I don't know if your original request can be done but if it could you would be reliant on a wi-fi connection.

  • Are we able to use music from final cut library on videos and upload on Facebook

Are we able to use final Cut pro music on Facebook and youtube?

All of the audio library content that comes with Apple Pro Apps (includes FCPX and Logic) are NOT copyright free.  Most of the audio is copyright by Apple, Inc. A good deal of the content is copyright by third parties like Detroit Chop Shop, Sound Ideas and various individuals.
ALL of the content is Royalty Free (there's a big fat hairy difference!!!)
You have licensed permission to use ALL the Apple Audio Library Content, for personal and commercial use *without* having to pay for that use in royalties.  (You've already done that — it's part of the cost of your software.) You cannot sell/resell the content; you cannot "cause the content" to be freely accessible to others (to my mind: this means that you may not use the content without alteration, without addition, or without "spoiling" a pristine copy of the audio [for example, with voiceovers].)  The license specifically states that you can use all of the clips to create your own compositions and/or original soundtracts (which heavily implies not using any specific clips as a "standalone" that can be potentially downloaded/copied.) [Logic Pro 9 and MainStage 2: Using royalty-free loops in commercial work - Apple Support]
You SHOULD provide credit for the audio you use within the video you create (especially for YouTube.)  When you go to select audio in FCPX, the copyright owner is clearly listed with the audio clip. To simplify your credits you could possibly get away with something like: Music/Sound Effects provided by Apple, Inc. If you specify "copyright", then get the owners right.
Apple audio content has been around for YEARS (Jam Packs).... Most of it has been used and reused by thousands of people on YouTube and with their content matching algorithms, your video is quite likely to be flagged for copyright violation. I know for a fact that if the audio is properly credited, you are not likely to receive copyright infringement notices (I'm 99.99% sure a human puts eyes on every video to make sure credit is given when there might be an issue — YouTube has to protect itself first.)  If you do receive a copyright "hit" and you've properly credited the source(s), then you have a leg to stand on for an appeal. YouTube knows about the licensing agreements that accompany Apple Pro Software. Be professional. Credit!
PS - once you've given proper credit to others who have contributed to your video, copyright the video (*your work*) to yourself...

  • Using music from my work laptop and my home imac

I just got an iphone to replace my ipod touch.
I have two macs. One at work and one at home. Both have different music on them.
With my ipod i could load some songs onto it from my laptop... go home... load some more songs from my imac. Everytime i try this on my iphone it tells me it can only be synced with one library at a time.
I have turned off Automatically sync when iphone is connected.
Its when i turn on Manually manage music and videos that the message comes up.
Please tell me this is possible and hasn't been crippled by apple???
If so i might have to return it before my 14 days is up

    Yeah its very stupid.
My laptop at work doesn't have much memory so i cant keep all my music on it, but if i buy CD's ill put them in itunes at work as its more convenient.
This flaw in the iphone means that i have to bring the CD home and re-rip it at home, and i cant listen to the new music till i get back home.... although i dont want my laptop as my 'main sync' computer as i dont have my entire collection on it.
