Using music in wedding slideshows

Howdy,
I want to make wedding slideshows for money. I understand that there are legal issues with using copyrighted music in a work and then selling it. At the same time, I also know that there is a way around this, as people do it all the time. That's why I'm here.
What's the legal way to use copyrighted music in a wedding slideshow, and then sell it for profit?
Do I have to have the customer prove that they own the CD, or buy the song from iTunes, and then agree not use it for anything but personal use? Any information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Ideally, you should use should use the original file instead of MP3/AAC.
And you don't use MP3 in Final Cut Express.
See this -> Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express: Convert MP3 and AAC audio files for compatibility before importing

  • Using Music with iPhoto Slideshow

I can not access my music library when creating a slideshow. All I get is the default cheezy guitar music. Is there an easy answer to this? Thanks

Can you access your music in other apps? iMovie, for instance?

  • Is there a way to use music from multiple users itunes libraries on one iMac for a slideshow in Aperture?

I am trying to put together a slide show for a trip my wife and I took to England. I would like to be able to use music from both our itunes libraries in the slide show. I am using Aperture to create the slide show since it seems to be more versatile than iPhoto for this. Only trouble is that when I log into my username on the iMac I only see my iTunes library and similar when logging into her username. We have different music but would like to use some from each library in the slide show.

You can only use one library at a time in an Aperture slideshow, so I'd suggest to simply collect the audio that you want to use in a folder (export the songs from both iTunes Libraries) and then import this folder to Aperture. Now you have a project containing the audio files; you will see it in the Aperture Audio section of the audio Browser, right above the iTunes section.
You can use the Apperture audio just like the audio in iTunes to drag to the timeline of your slideshow.

  • Using music in slideshow

    Hello:
Slowly getting used to my new MacBook after having been a PC person for 15 years. I want to make a slideshow, and I want to use music; I've looked at the other posts on this subject and know to use iTunes playlist if I want more than one tune. However: I don't want the whole tune to play through; when the mood of a group of slides change, I want to fade the music and start a new tune. Is there a way to edit tunes like this? (I hate to sound like I'm rubbing it in, but Dell has such a cross-fade function!) Anyone know of an iTunes method? Or would I have to edit in a separate program like Audacity?
    Thanks!
    medren

    Medren:
Another option is to use a 3rd party audio editor like Amadeus Pro to edit the track as you want and save it as a new file. AP will let you do fade ins and outs, add parts of multiple files together, etc.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Placing music in a slideshow - can't move it where I want it

I'm so frustrated...I'm doing a wedding slideshow; first time with the new version of iMovie. I am trying to place a second song in the slideshow, and I want it to start in the middle of one of my "fade out" transitions. But when I try to drag it, it won't go exactly where I want it - it always wants to start right smack at the beginning of the next slide (which makes for a rough audio transition). Can anyone please tell me how to movie audio clips very intricately? In the old version, I think you used to be able to just click on the track and move it slightly with the arrows, if I'm not mistaken. Is there any way to do this in this version?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    Hi Daniel,
I just tried Winston's suggestion about dragging on top of the clip (rather than dragging to the background) - I always insert audio this way. But there is a trick to positioning music to start playing within a transition.
In my test, I dragged a music track over the "fade to black" transition. Before dropping, this caused it to cover the whole background green, so I dropped it onto the incoming clip. This action placed it as a separate track positioned directly below the video track. I was then able to position the music track part way through the transition, without it bouncing back to the start of the next clip.
So, the trick is to drop the music onto a "normal" clip, then separately drag it to the desired position beneath the transition.

  • Can't see my iTunes library when selecting background music for a slideshow

I don't see my iTunes library when I'm selecting background music for a slideshow -- I have tried using iphoto help (seee below) and it didn't work:
"If you don't see your iTunes library:
Quit both iTunes and iPhoto. Relaunch iTunes first, then iPhoto.
If you recently installed iLife software, it's a good idea to open each application in the following order: iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, and then iDVD. Because these applications are integrated to browse and import files from each other's media libraries, this ensures that you will be viewing the most up-to-date versions of your music library, photo library, and movies folder no matter what application you're using.
Recreate your iTunes Music Library.xml file. Quit iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and iTunes. Click the Finder icon in the Dock, and choose Go > Go to Folder. Type "~/Music/iTunes" or "~/Documents/iTunes" and click Go. Drag the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file to your desktop. Open iTunes and create a new playlist by choosing File > New Playlist. Quit iTunes and open iPhoto to make sure you can see your iTunes library when creating a slideshow."
    Any suggestions?

    MacBook1,1   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   versions: itunes 7.0.2 (15) iphoto 6.0.5 (316)

I have this problem also - tried following advice giving from original problem.
My settings are through the what I call the Lug Nut icon - no arrows and no dimple showing on my screen.
Is there some small thing I'm missing here - weird thing is that iDVD allows me to access my iTunes library - no problem.
When I go to Finder it tells it can't find my Music folder??? I can see it in the sidebar .....
Any suggestions - I don't know how to send those screen shots but what a great idea.

  • Keeping Music in Keynote Slideshow

I have made a slideshow using Keynote and added music to the presentation. I then pressed record slideshow and saved the video to my desktop. Now what I am trying to do is post this video on Vimeo or YouTube so I can share it with friends. Problem is, no matter what I try to do the audio never seems to copy over. Any suggestions as to how I need to do this.

Keynote is awful for using music. You can't even make a song go for three slides and a new song start at the fourth slide.
Try iMovie. Open iMovie, File > Import. Choose the movie file that you exported out of Keynote. After it imports, drag the thumbnail to the clip viewer at the bottom of the iMovie window. Next, File > Import, and choose the first song. You can add fades or whatever by following the iMovie Help suggestions. After it is all arranged, File > Share. Choose "Expert Settings" to let you get the format that the hosting site wants (Youtube can use MP4, but they convert it themselves to FLV).

  • Can my mac pro Bluetooth talk to my new ATV using Bluetooth to send slideshows

Can my mac pro Bluetooth talk to my new ATV using Bluetooth to send slideshows, music and movies

You know you don't have to buy a replacement dvd drive from apple.  For example, take a look at OWC's selection.
You don't say what year your mac pro is so I use a 2008 as an example.  On that page click the little picture that shows a 2008 mac pro.  That will take you to this page.  And there's an example of a Lite-On drive.
In addition, on the right side of that page are links to instructional videos on how to add the drive to your machine.  Click, for example, Optical, med (medium) and you will see how straight forward it is to change the optical drive.

  • Adding Music to iWeb Slideshows

I would like to add some music to the slideshows I've published using iWeb. I discovered some old (ie. Oct/2006) threads discussing this topic and have tried what was suggested there - downloading the AC-QuickTime.js and editing the slideshow HTML file as suggested, but could not get it to work. Does anyone have any ideas? This seems like such a simple feature to want to add to a slideshow (ie. the way you do it right in iPhoto), it seems like there has to be a way. Thanks for any help.

    pmuck,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Not sure what you've read, so here's the crash course on it again!
As long as you don't mind doing a little post publish editing of your .js files, it's fairly easy to do. You will find them in this path on your iDisk, using the Go menu in Finder:
    Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Sites/iWeb/Nameofsitefolder/Page_filesFolderPage.js
Open the .js files for that particular page on your iDisk with any text editor (I like Taco, and it's free) and make the following changes to the script code that controls your movie (song): (you will find the movie code near the top of the page in the .js file)
    Change autoplay="false" to autoplay="true"
    Change loop="false" to loop="true"
Changing controller value="true" to controller value="false" will remove the controller from the page entirely. Make these changes in both sets of tags, (object and embed).
Make the changes and just "Save". Clear your browser cache and you should see the changes take effect immediately. Bear in mind you will have to make this modification each time you republish your site. You can also save this modified .js file and replace the republished file with it, as long as no other changes were made to the page in iWeb.
Post back and let us know how it goes.

I cannot play music with my slideshows. I setup the music but it does not play, even with my older slideshows I hear no music.

This category is for iPod shuffle.  Is that the type of iPod you have, because your description of the problem does not sound like it's about a shuffle?  If it's not a shuffle, what is the iPod model...?
There is music there and I can play it connected to laptop.
Are you doing the playing using the iPod, or are you playing the music using iTunes on the laptop?
All mucis icons read "No music" and this is not correct
Do these icons with "No music" appear on the laptop's screen, or on the iPod's screen

  • LR Crashes when I select music for a Slideshow!

Since I upgraded to Yosemite on my MacPro, whenever I try to select music for a slideshow, the app crashes.  Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi there,
I'm facing the same problem here.
I cant's say for sure if this was a problem before updated to Yosemite ... I have not used this function at all.
I'm using Lightroom since LR3 and was forced to change to LR4 because of the new camera ... in the meantime I'm on LR5 and quite ok with it.
Why is noone of Adobe answering here?
How can a community find out what's wrong with the software?
I know I have found the chat button once ... but now? Gone?

  • No Music in exported slideshow

I have read all the threads in this forum but have yet to see a solution to this problem.
I created simple slideshow, created a non-DRM playlist with one song in iTunes and attached the music track to the slideshow. It plays fine within iPhoto but when I export it, i get no audio. I have tried several export types but they all do the same thing. Any help would be appreciated.
    Randy

Having same problem - no music in exported slideshow, even though it plays fine when watching in iPhoto. There are no issues with name or path of the song used, so I don't think that is the problem.
I have 44 slides in my slideshow, using the classic theme, and many of the slides have different length. When I test what I'm doing with a simple 3 slide slideshow using the same music, the export works fine, but just can't get it to work no matter what I do with the full, 44 slide slideshow. It is extremely frustrating as I have done this successfully before. Any suggestions?

  • What Apple software do I use to create a slideshow with voiceover?

What Apple Software do I use to create a slideshow with voice over?

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:
