Using my hotmail account with mail

Hi,
I can receive my emails on mail from my hotmail account but mail doesn't have my hotmail folders and doesn't syncronize right. What do i have to change in the settings? On my iPad everything's fine...

I read the previous post about the yahoo email account and I was wondering if the same applies for a Gmail account. It is a free account, and I think that set up all of the information right, however I still cannot complete the setup. Maybe i am setting up the POP information wrong, but I'm not sure.

You must enable POP forwarding for the account preferences via webmail access for the account.

Using only IMAP account with Mail app

I am attempting to get the Windows 8.1 Mail App to allow me to configure only an IMAP email account as the primary account. I have enabled the Group Policy setting to allow to App to run without a Microsoft Account but when I open the mail account and try
to log in, it doesn't ask for incoming/outgoing servers, just one, and it will not accept either the IMAP or SMTP server that my organization runs. I am able to add the IMAP account if I first log in with a Microsoft account but since we already have domain
accounts, I do not want to have to set each user up with a Microsoft account. Is there a way to just configure an IMAP account for the Mail App or does is have to be Exchange or Microsoft?

I made a test in our testing enviroment, please just add a mail account you have, when added successfully, you can choose to add a new mail account, it contains the settings for IMAP you can choose.

Mail using a Hotmail account

well, i finally put in a hotmail account on Mail. however, it's not functional. here's a list of my problems with it.
-It doesnt open properly. when i do click the mail on my apps folder, it doesnt open any windows. its on the dock with an arrow pointing up to the icon but that's it.
-my mail box is empty. when i use hotmail.com on Safari, it shows that i have a couple of mail and messages on my mailbox, but when i use hotmail.com on Mail, those same messages aren't there.
-i can't send and recieve messages using mail. i sent a message to another email address using mail, and when i check it, its not there. when i use my other email to send a message to Mail, its not there.
-i can't quit mail. i go to file and quit but it's not responding, i have to use force quit everytime i want to log out or shut down or even just to quit the application
P.S.
I'm starting to think that Mail app is flawed for people that don't have a .Mac account. this is the only aspect of my mac that i don't like. should have been easier to do.

Not really sure what you did, but..
To use a hotmail account in Mail, you need to download and install httpmail plugin.
It won't run natively on Intel Macs yet so you will need to set Mail to open in Rosetta by doing a Get Info on the Mail application and selecting the checkbox 'Open in Rosetta'
Also, newer Hotmail accounts may not be compatible with the httpmail plugin so you might just be out of luck.

Cant add hotmail account to Mail on Iphone 4S

I have recently reset an old iPhone 4s 32gb for work purposes, and am trying to set up my email account.
Ive tried using the 'exchange' account however shows up saying "Outlook Account" Unable to verify account information.
So ive tried using other in the hopes of adding it, and its coming up saying - A WINDOWS LIVE HOTMAIL PLUS SUBSCRIPTION IS REQUIRED TO USE HOTMAIL ACCOUNTS WITH MAIL. VISIT

Ive tried visiting the above website and I get nothing, saying its offline or something.
I select Next, and it goes through the stage saying 'verifying' and it comes up with another pop up saying" The POP server "pop3.live.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field. I select OK. I try and Re-Save the info, which goes through "verifying" again, and it comes up with;
Cannot connect using SSL. Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?
Yes or No?
My passwork is correct? I have no idea why this is becoming an issue, when before the reset everything was working perfectly.

Short answer: when you are in settings, add email account, scroll down to outlook.com and use this to enter your hotmail account. Hope it works for you.

Adding Windows Live Hotmail account to Mail

Hi all
I've successfully set up my GMAIL account with Mail and everything is working fine. I'd now like to link my Hotmail account with Mail too. After clicking "File" --> "Add account.." and entering my Hotmail address and password, I am presented with security warning that the identify of "hotmail.com" can't be verified and am asked if I want to trust "lc2.bay0.hotmail.passport.com" when connecting to "hotmail.com".
I assume that it is probably safe if I DO trust the certificate and hence the problem may be solved, but just wanted to double-check before I selected anything.
Apologies if this may seem like a minor issue to you but this is my first Mac and I've only had it for a day!

I had the same problem and yes, I clicked on 'I trust the certificate'. The below link helped me set up my hotmail account in imail. I hope it works for you too.

Using a hotmail account as Mac Mail?

A friend has an Apple which a few years ago downloaded a plugin to allow all emails from hotmail come to her Macmail application on her Macbook. She can also send mails from here as normal and they are sent as if in her hotmail account.
However, she cannot remember how this is done. I'm looking to do the same, use my hotmail account email without having to sign into the hotmail browser, and use my macmail application. Does anyone have the details/plugin details to do this please? (I only have 10.3.9 by the way)

check your mail->preferences->accounts, and click on your hotmail account.
in the 'account information' tab, i have the following--without the brackets:
description: [what shows up in the account pane to the left]
email address: [your hotmail address]
full name: [um...yer name]
incoming mail server: [hotmail.com]
user name: [your email address before the @]
password: [your hotmail password]
outgoing mail server:[services.msn.com:myusername]
if i click the 'server settings' button below that pulldown, i can type in 'services.msn.com' easily enough. but, in order to get my username to show, i change the authentication pulldown to 'password' and enter my username and password.
ok...that last bit is where it gets a little hinky. mine works just fine with authentication turned off. but, in the main view my outgoing server still shows my username after the colon.
also, make sure you configure the other tabs....especially the 'advanced' tab where you have to enable the account.
and, that the httpmail url is set to:
http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

Since Febuary 14th, 2013 we are unable to send and recieve email using our hotmail account on our Iphone. We can get our email by loggin in with our computer but not using our Iphone.

Setting up hotmail accounts in Mail

Hi, how do I go about routing my hotmail accounts to mail? It seems like a logical step to make. I've been through the account setup but Mail is not seeing the server.
I'm guessing its a pretty common request but I couldn't find any specific information on it, and I don't have time to trawl the forums all afternoon, So I thought I'd ask in a new thread.

Hotmail don't provide POP/IMAP access so you can't configure a standard email application (such as Mail) to use it without extra software.
izymail and httpmail plugin (have a google for them) claim to be able to offer services such that you can use hotmail with a standard email program.

I cannot send the email to the printer using my hotmail account.

I got HP laserjet pro M1536 printer which have an eprint capability but i cannot send the mails to the printer by using the hotmail account and even tried using others hotmail account but in vain. I can send the emails thru yahoo and gmail accounts they worked but not yahoo. Can anyone solve this issue?

For those who are experiencing ongoing issues with their web services, you can attempt to try the following steps that may help resolve your problems.
1.) Completely shut down your printer and restart it
2.) If you have prints that have not printed, log into ePrint Center (or create an account if you do not have one) and then look for your printer status. If printer status is green but you still have pending jobs, delete the pending jobs one at a time (Starting with the oldest first). There may be a print job stuck in the queue that further restricts other jobs from completing.
a. If option 1 or 2 above still doesn’t work, removing web services and re-adding web services will cause the printer to reattach to the cloud.
b. Please note that if you attempt option 3, you will get a new eprint email address (and lose your custom one with no ability to get it back) furthermore, you will need to re-add your printer back to your ePC account.

I have had the same problem as yours on my Ipad after upgraded Procreate 2.01. My iOS is 7.04. I tried to find solution from internet for weeks. Fortunately, the problem was resolved a few minutes ago. It is very simple,
1. Lunch outlook.com to confirm you can access hotmail mailbox. It means your account is Ok.
2. Go to setting>Mail,Contacts,Calendars.Delete your hotmail account from your device.(my device is Ipad)
3. Turn off your device, then turn on again.
4. Go to setting>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and create your hotmail account by tap outlook.com. Be sure the incoming mail server is pop3.live.com.
5. Waiting for validation.

I know this has been covered many time before but I've searched and tried and I still can't get it set up.
I'm trying to set up my hotmail plus account with mail. It seems very straight forward so I'll explain what I've done so far...
I first downloaded and installed the plugin httpmailtiger_universal1.49.
then clicked on add new account in mail preferences.
in general information pane...
Account Type: POP
Account Description: Windows Live Hotmail
Email address: <Edited by Moderator>
Then hit continue...
Incoming Mail Server: hotmail.com
User Name: adamhenshaw89
Password: *****
Then it comes up
Checking connection to POP server "hotmail.com"
Stays on this for a good while. Then...
The IMAP server “hotmail.com” is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the “Incoming Mail Server” field. If it still doesn’t respond, the server might be temporarily unavailable.
Now my ISP is eircom so should I be inputting some info from them?

WARNING I just received word from the IBM CERT Team that the security for Microsoft Live has been breached. Their recommendation is to have nothing to do with it until Microsoft is able to redo the security. At the present time the hackers are to defeat the Microsoft Live security one third of the time.

I don't know how to set up my hotmail account in Mail. I need to know what is the name of the incoming/outgoing server and as well what type of server it is. I have contact hotmail staff but they told me that this feature is not possible so far in Mac, but I am surprise about this answer. Has somebody tried so far of mac user that have hotmail accounts?

I have just had this problem. I am at a loss while Apple will not give us a Mail application that supports http mail out of the box. Surely they realise that most people have a Hotmail or a similar free account... Makes me so angry
Anyway I am using the Daniel Parnell plug in:

It used to work faultlessly (and still does) but to get it working on an Intel machine you need to set Mail to open using Rosetta. You can do this using Finder, then Get Info, then check the Open in Rosetta box.

What is the correct way to completely add a Hotmail account to Mail?

I'm trying to figure out the full and complete way of adding a Hotmail account to Mail. I've tried just using "Adding other mail account..." but it will only input mail and not contacts. Most of my contacts are stored in that email account (all phone contacts on my iPhone are stored on my Hotmail account). So yes, I can get mail, but is there anyway to sync contacts as well as mail?
