Using my imac to narrate over a video using  aheadset mike

I want a good mike/headset for voiceover . I tried the sixty dollar range and they were junk (Plantronics ) Massive latency problems and a lousy mike.
Is there a quality headset boom mike available that the imac can work with ? I need quality sound and real compatibility.
Thanks ahead of time.

Hi Lensmith,
Blue has a history in studio grade XLR microphones. Recently they introduced a series of USB Desktop Microphones. The Yeti, and Yeti Pro, both have a headphone out so you can listen to yourself without latency. Both Mics also have a threaded mic stand mount at the base to be attached to a boom.
The Yeti sounds will pick up a soft whisper, inflection and tone is clear. And Blue Makes a Shockmount for both Mics.
A cheaper option would be the Blue SnowBall. It lacks the headphone out so there could be some latency. Just like the Yeti, the mic has great pick up, and sounds like some thing you would expect to find in a studio. And for the price I can't think of a better option. It know a bunch of people who use it for voice over. But I don't think any of them were really concerned about latency.
Alternatively you could get any XLR mic or XLR Mic headset. And use some thing like a icicle or FastTrack from M-Audio. The nice feature of the FastTrack is that it has a monitor option, so you can listen to your mic with out latency.
If you already own a high end XLR mic it's a good option. but if you don't own a mic. If start pricing a good XLR mic, and then add on the FastTrack, you'll probable end up spending more then you would if you just bought the Yeti.

  • Using iMovie '08 how can I insert a imagine "over" a video clip ?

iMovie '08: i would like to insert a photo "over" a video clip: how can I do?

Best if you can say what kind of movies you are adding .... for example if they are YouTube Videos then use the Insert HTML option and embed the code.

I installed OSX server 10.6 snow leopard on my IMAC, but still have choppy videos. can anyone tell me how to fix the problem

By your use of "still", did this problem exist before OS X Server was installed?  OS X Server itself has no particular linkages to video processing, beyond what OS X client provides.
Some details on the configuration might be useful.  Are these videos you're having issues with stored locally in files, or are these videos received over the network and played?  If the videos are local, have you tried playing the videos from a different disk?  If the video files are remote, can you download the videos and play them as a test?
What software are you using to play the videos?  QuickTime?  QuickTime X?  Does using VLC or another player work better?  There are some discussions of choppy videos around the forums, too.

  • Putting Text over a video is not working

O.K.  I follow the instructions on putting text over a video (for iMovie 11), but every time I do this all I see is a black screen with the text in it.  I can't get the video to show up when I preview/play the video.  I have the same problem when trying to use the green screen feature as well.  Is there a setting or something that I need to change in iMovie?  If so what/where is it, because I am at my "witts end" trying to find it?

I would suggest trashing the iMovie Preferences file. Instructions are here. (You should not need to trash the iApps preferences, just the iMovie one.)

  • Placing graphics OVER a video in iWeb?

Hi, I have a video on my iWeb site and I want to place a graphic over it to act kind of like a picture frame. The graphic I want to use has transparent parts I created in photoshop so that, when I "send to front" on iWeb, it appears OVER my video and my video can then be seen behind it. However, when I publish my project and visit my site, the video always appears over the graphic frame I created. Is there a way to make the graphic act as an overlay through html or something?
    Thanks!

Thanks, everyone! I tried placing the video in a text box. Do I then also place the frame in that same text box? If so, should it then be able to fit over the video? I feel like I must be doing something wrong.
If I try the other technique of placing the image in the video, is there an easy way to do that in iMovie? I don't have Final Cut.

  • Difference of 21.5" iMac 2.7Ghz over 2.9Ghz?

Does it worth the penny to choose 21.5" iMac 2.7Ghz over 2.9Ghz?
What is the major difference between these two? (hope not to mention the obvious hardware difference e.g. Nvidia GT640M vs 650M etc but rather appreciate for more technical cents of user experience for speed, multitasking speed, gaming (diablo III, starcraft II), photoshop etc software.)
I've no thought of getting MBP as i have existing 3 laptops (Windows base) at home for normal microsoft office usage.
This is my first Mac. Hope to get some valuable comments from experts.
    Thanks.

That's fine but playing Devil's Advocate you have to pay extra for the fusion drive and whether it's worthwhile will depend on your use of the machine. I suspect quite a few will buy the extra drive and not really need it.
What does hack me off with the latest iMac is you have to spend another £60 to load it with the Mac software that used to come bundled for nothing and another £60 if you want to load up your own software such as MS Word etc.
It just seems that despite all their wealth Apple are once again trying to extract even more money from their supporters. I will probably end up buying a new iMac as I consider its advantages to outweigh the cost but I do think that Apple is being a tad unfair to its loyal customers.
I am not anti-Apple as I already have an iPad3, MacBook Pro and iPhone.

  • How to add/replace/correct narration in a Video Demo project?

I've recorder a Video Demo project in CP 6 and would like to correct existing narration. In particular, I'd like to add more detailed explanation at some places. Is there any practical workflow that could be used here?

A video stretching? How would that look? You can split a video in two clips, add a static image like a snapshot if you need to increase the duration of the video.
I will mostly do a temporary narration during the video capture so that the timing at least is correct. Later on I'll record the real narration and try to keep up to the same length of the temporary one. That is always the trouble with synchronising to a video instead of to the static slides that you get with Automatic capture. On Static slide you can move object to adapt to the narration.

  • HELP! Exporting smart build over a video background to QT?

    Hi,
I have a single slide with a QT movie as a loop in the background with a smart build of images over the top. It's for a corporate event and the build needs to loop during the coffee break.
I need to export this to a movie file and then place it back in to another presentation so i can make the build loop.
However, when i export to QT the background movie plays once, stops and then the smart build runs through.
I've tried removing the background movie as I'm happy to have the smart build only to loop. When i export the build with a transparent background it is replaced with black. This means I can't place this over the original movie background.
The other, more simple alternative which I can't fathom is to make the smart build loop on it's own on the original slide so I don't need to export it as a video!!!
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks
    Simon

I've worked out that if you export to QT using png Codec it WILL keep the transparent background! I've now managed to solve this problem by creating a transparent QT and placing over the video background.

  • How do I place a still photo over a video?

How do I place a still photo over a video, where the sound keeps steady, but the still photo replaces the videos image for a duration?
I've got one placed and it's working great, but can't remember how I did it.  I've tried everything.  I'm working with iMovie 08'.
It appears like a music item in my project window, a thin blue filled line with the duration in it, just above the video and I can adjust the length of time the still is displayed.  (Just like an audio/sound clip)  The audio is uninterrupted.
Can anyone help me?  Thank you!
Oh... my email is no longer [email protected]
    I using [email protected]
I can't figure out how to change my email address in here or if it is possible...

switch-ON the Advanced Tools in iMovie's prefs.
drag your still onto the clip until the cursor gets a Green Plus Sign and choose Cutaway

  • Firefox for windows won't display absolute positioned divs over flash video

I have a website that has a brightcove video player. About a month or so ago, I was able to float divs over the video player so that they would display on top of the video player, using absolute positioning.
You can see the player here:
    lifeminute.tv/evv/8+9+10+11+12+34/widget300s
In Firefox (mac), Chrome (windows), Internet explorer (windows) and Safari (mac) it all still displays properly. In Firefox (windows) the video player ignores the Z-index I assign it, and always places the divs underneath it, UNLESS I give the floating div a solid background color.
When I assign the following styles to the div containing the overlay, I can see the text properly, but of course the video is obscured.
    background-color: #FFFFFF;
    height: 158px;
    position: absolute;
    top: 4px;
    width: 275px;
If I remove the background-color element the whole overlay pops to the back of the stack behind the video again.
Is this a FF windows bug or am I just missing something obvious?

At times you have to add wmode="transparent" attribute to the flash video embed code.

What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system is it running?
How did you save your Timeline content which included the narration clip produced with the project's Narration Tool?
Publish+Share/Computer/ and then what? And, what preset? And, for that preset, did you use the default settings of the preset
or did you customize the preset under its Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab?
What other audio was in the project - any on Audio 1 or Soundtrack? Did you get involved with Smart Mix at all?
Let us start here. We will be watching for your follow up.

  • How do I make a video on one track expand in size over a video on a second track? Elements 11

How do I make one a video on one track expand in size over a video on a second track?
    Thanks.

    Sminty
Thanks for the follow up with additional very helpful information.
What you need to do is to keyframe the Motion Scale property so that it changes over the duration of the whole photo
rather than  Scale being applied to the whole photo uniformly.
Two ways you could do the keyframing of Scale..
    a. from the Timeline
    or
    b. from Applied Effects/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel expanded and its Scale Property there, using Toggle Animation to initiate the process.
For now, I will describe "b"
Your scaled down image on Video Track 2
Your regular image on Video Track 1
Your Timeline Indicator at the beginning of the Timeline.
Select/Highlight the image on Video Track 2, go to Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel Expanded and its Scale Property
    That area should look like
You get an abbreviated version of the above screenshot if you do not hit the Show/Hide Keyframe Controls icon. With it opened, you will see the actual keyframes being placed.
With your Timeline Indicator at the beginning of the Timeline and Video Track 2 Image selected, click on the Toggle Animation Icon. That will set the Scale property keyframes
which at that time will be at a value less than 100% because you are starting with a scaled down Video Track 2 Image.
Then move the Timeline Indicator to the last frame of the clip. Then move the Scale slider to 100% or whatever % gives you Video Track 2 Image just to full frame so
that you do not see the Video Track 1 image. Render the Timeline by pressing of the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or pressing the Render button above
    the Timeline.
All sorts of things can be done by keyframing a property. The property could be other than Scale (some examples might be Position, Opacity, certain effects applied
    to Timeline content, etc.)
Please review and consider and then let us know if that worked for you. Do not hesitate to ask for clarification if needed.
    Thank you.

  • How do I overlay audio from interview clip over other video clips?

Help! I have some interview clips and want to over lay the audio from one of the interviews over different video clips. For example, I would show video and audio from the interviewee and then cut to a clip or scene showing what the guy is talking about but still have the interviewees audio playing as a voice over on the cut-away clip. How do I do that?!

    Welcome to the forum.
Is this Audio muxed (combined into a Clip w/ both Audio & Video), or is it a separate Audio-only file, that has been Imported into your Project?
If the latter, just drag an Instance of it to a free Audio Track, and position, as is needed. Note: each Instance of a Clip can have different In & Out Poiints, so you are not limited to them being identical.
For the former, the muxed file, there are a couple of ways to do that, but possibily the easiest is to Alt-click on the Audio part of the Clip (temporarily unlinks the Audio & Video), and Ctrl-C (Copy), then move the CTI (Current Time Indicator/Playhead) to the end of the Timeline, and press Ctrl-V (Paste), for as many Instances of that Audio, as you need. Then, drag them to an empty Audio Track, while holding down the Ctrl key for an Insert Edit, rather than a Ripple Edit, so as to not affect anything on that Track, below the desired Video Clip. If you are replacing the Audio.
Another way to do that is to use an audio-editing program to rip the Audio, Save as a PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit file, and then Import that into the Project, for use in many Instances.
Good luck, and hope that helps,
    Hunt

  • CCC or Disk Utility to clone a Mac HD of one new iMac to another, over ThunderBolt, we are getting I/O errors. Even though the clone fails, the destination  system does boot and log in, however, the logins take a very very very long time.

When using CCC (Carbon Cophy Cloner) or Disk Utility to clone a Mac HD of one new iMac to another, over ThunderBolt, we are getting I/O errors. Even though the clone fails, the destination  system does boot and log in, however, the logins take a very very very long time.
    Thoughts.
Edit: Already ran Disk Utility. Also reinstalled a fresh OS on top of the cloned OS and it seemed to remedy the problem. Then, cloned to next machine in the row of the lab. Same problem.

OK, by that I assume that you used Disk Utility to repair the subject disk and it reported "The volume (name) appears to be OK" in green.
Also verify you followed the instructions here: http://help.bombich.com/kb/usage-scenarios/i-want-to-clone-my-entire-hard-drive- to-a-new-hard-drive-or-a-new-machine
If so, the Thunderbolt connection begins to look suspicious.
Reinstalling OS X subsequent to the "clone" operation may be an acceptable workaround but you should not have had the I/O errors you describe, nor should the login times (subsequent to the initial login, that is) be unacceptably long. It calls into question the integrity of all the information that was transferrred.
I'll try to attract the attention of a CCC expert who will likely provide more competent assistance. You can also try the Bombich support site: http://help.bombich.com
