Using my iMessage in diferent devices...

HI, when I use my iMessage in my iPad my iPhone receive all messages and make alerts, the same when I use my iPhone, what can I do for my devices work independent?

Your email address where it says receive at needs to be different. The receive at email is like a phone number for iMessage. You can have different receive at addresses under the same apple I'd. Change the emails.....settings, messages, receive at.

  • Is there a way to use iChat on Lion to communicate with my iCloud contacts using iMessage on their devices?

I currently have a MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad with working iMesagge, all these i use to chat with my iMessage contacts without conflicts, recently I've been assigned a MacBook in my job which can't be upgraded to Mountail Lion and currently has iChat 6 installed.
When i log in using iChat, it doesn't list any of my contacts. Adding them manually gets them in the buddy list but still doesn't allow to send them messages since they all appear offline.
I already signed in with my Apple ID in the MacBook, the same one I use with all my working devices mentioned above. There is only one user account in the MacBook which i have created since this computer has been assigned to me only.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Messages  is iChat+
The Plus bit being the Apple iMessages service.
Apart from the iMessages service both apps can join:
AIM (with AIM registered or AIM Valid Screen Names ending in @mac.com @me.com and @icloud.com from Apple)
Jabber (with names registered at Jabber servers.  Two exceptions are GoogleTalk IDs and Facebook IDs)
iChat 6 and Messages can also Join Yahoo.  Must be a registered Yahoo Name and not one of the ones that can be used with the Yahoo App itself.
All these chats will be AIM to AIM, Jabber to Jabber or Yahoo to Yahoo.
The confusing can be that each can use email looking names and IDs.
Jabber Names (with the exception of Google) are in the form of [email protected]
AIM registered names don't normally have any @AOL/AIM.com suffix but @ is an allowed character and as mentioned @mac.com, @me.com and @icloud.com names are also Valid.
Yahoo are also email looking  names in the form [email protected]
This does tend to mean it is easy to add an email to any Buddy list and it is initially accepted as it conform the the format.
Mostly they will appear Off line in an AIM list and Awaiting Authorisation in a Jabber list.
iChat as such will not chat to your iMessages Contacts.
It is an extra service that the Message App can join in addition to AIM, Jabber or Yahoo.

  • I keep getting a message about my phone number being used for iMessage on a new iPhone. How can I see what devices are using my iMessage account and phone number?

The message "Your phone number is now being used for imessage on a new iPhone" Keeps appearing on my macbook pro. It also says "If you just activated iMessage on a new iPhone, you can ignore this alert." But the only option is to ignore the alert, because the only thing I can do with it is click "ok" and dismiss it. Is there a way I can look at a list of the devices using my iMessage account, and if there are devices that I don't recognize on that list, how can I block them from using my account?

Hi If you have another Apple  device check on that screen & accept. Cheers Brian

  • Using my phone number for iMessage across 3 devices

    Hi all!
I've been happily using iMessage on my iPhone, iPad 2 and iMac (OSX 10.8.5) for ages, until iOS 6 came out. Now, my iPad and iMac won't recognize my iPhone number to be used for iMessage.
Briefly, the phone number showed as "verifying" in the iMac's iMessage preferences -> accounts screen, but it was greyed out and has since disappeared.
My phone number is added to my Apple ID, I've tried to log out of all three Apple ID's (turning off iMessage and FaceTime) on all three devices, then logging back onto each starting with the iPhone, but all it does is add other email addresses I don't want associated with iMessage (even though I've deleted them) and my phone number is nowhere to be found except on my iPhone. It is the only "send and receive" option on my iPhone, and even synching my iPhone to my iMac isn't working.
    Please help!
    Sandra

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

  • I'm trying synchronize the use of iMessage across all of my devices.

I'm trying to syncronize the use of iMessage across all of my devices. I setup iMessage on two desktop computers and my iPhone using the same AppleID. When I try to use that AppleID on my iPad I'm told that "The user name or password for (AppleID) was incorrect. Try again." This is the same user name and password that I used on the other three devices and it worked fine. I need some help. Thank you.

Thanks for your response and feedback.
I would recommend you continue with Quicken Essentials.  As noted by others, it performs well on Yosemite.
My personal experience is Quicken 2007 for Mac also on 10.7.5 (with many reports of it both updated and successfully running on Yosemite) and I personally would not touch Quicken Essentials with a 10 foot pole -- BUT, if it ain't broke for you, don't fix it!

  • Is there a way to see what devices are using my iMessage account?

Is there a way to see what devices are using my iMessage account?

so if we do have the same apple id is it possible to delete if from any of the other devices or any where I can just unactivate them from my apple id account to where it would delete the message if they happened to get it?

I have an old iPod Touch with old software that can no longer be updated:
    iOS version 6.1.6
I've been searching for a solution to my iMessage login problem for months and tried everything from those frustrating links and all the tips from other users.
    Here is what finally worked:
    1) Settings > Privacy > Location Services > On
    2) Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically > On
    3) Reboot device until Apple logo appears
    4) Settings > Messages > Sign In

It's best to use an email address (gmail.com?) for FaceTime and iMessage on your iPad.

  • IPod and ipad won't let my apple Id be used for iMessage or face time

My iPod and my iPad last week decided to sign me out of FaceTime and iMessage after nearly a year of use, and just displayed the error message appeared that my apple Id or password had changed this made no sense so I went and changed my password no success. Next I tried rebooting both devices no change. Then I closed down all the apps and tried no change. Next I tried to sign in via settings this time I got the message that you need to verify your account and an email has been sent. No email recieved and so I still couldn't sign into iMessage or FaceTime. Next I tried signing in on my sisters iPod touch and it gave me the same error so I asked her to sign in on my devices and it allowed her. So i realised the issue is with my account is there a way of checking that my account can still be used for iMessage or a way of seeing if my account has a error or glitch, or should I create a new account.

Hi Go to itunes bottom of page sign out then sign back in that may help . Cheers Brian

  • Email address cannot be used for iMessage

Just set up an icloud email address for my daughter. I want her to be able to use that icloud email address to send iMessages to me or her mother using our iPads and iPhones.
I set up the icloud email address for her with no problem and am able to e-mail her with it and she is able to send emails back to me with it.
Went into Settings>Messages>Add Another Email.  I typed in the icloud email address I set up for her and received the following error message:
"This email address cannot be used for iMessage."
I do not know why I received this error message.  The icloud email account was set up.
I also went into the Messages app on my phone and sent a iMessage to the iCloud e-mail account and received a response that the message was delivered and Read!
If anyone has dealt with this issue before, please let me know what you think.  Thank you!
    Joe

So if I'm reading this right, you cannot assign multiple Apple IDs to iMessage on the same device?  You have to log out of the first in order to use the second?
If this is true, does this work device to device?  In other words, if she has access to an iPad and an iPhone, could you allow the iPhone to message and FaceTime through my daugther's new icloud email while the iPhone is still assigned to her mother's e-mail?
Or, is there a way to allow multiple apple IDs to iMessage and FaceTime on a sinle device WITHOUT having to disable one?
Thanks for the previous fast response and the future help.
    Joe

  • Another email address in using my imessage? (Instead of my appleid)

Hi. Is it possible if I add another email address in using my imessage? (Instead of my appleid) thanks!

Yes. I use three different emil addresses on my other devices instead of my Apple ID. You need to setup messages with your Apple ID and then you can add another email address to use instead to the Apple ID email.

  • IMessage group, 2 devices, 2 conversations??

I recently got a ipad 2 for christmas, although it was really hard to set it up with ios5 and icloud i manged to do it, theres a couple of things i dont get tho..
iMessage group, I use it imessage  on my ipad at home and i have a group conversation, and continue it on my iPhone when I'm out and about  but both devices keep splitting into 2 conversations, how would I get them to use the same conversation?
My iPhone game data won't sync to my iPad? I have to start again on my iPad
If these can't be resolved somehow I don't get why iCloud exists because nothing works properly..

HAve had IPAD/iPhone imessaging working for a few years now and it has begun to leave some parties on the conversation and split others off to an individual thread only. Any help with this would help. I'm able to read but my return message not available to others or maybe to only one in the group. The same with others in the group!  Frustrating!
