Using MySQL with JDeveloper 3.2 in a BC4J JSP Application

Hi!
I'm trying to create a BC4J JSP application using MySQL.
I'm using the mm.mysql-2.0.4-bin.jar which I've registered in
IDE and ClassPath. I created a connection with the option Other
JDBC.
I tested successfully the connection in the Connection Manager.
After, I created a new project with BC4J. Using the 'tester' I
got an error: no suitable driver.
While editing the created view object I got a SQLException when
I clicked in Attribute Mapping.
How to solve this problem? I realized that other people here had
this kind of problem but nobody gave a definitive solution.
Thanks.

Ok, I'm doing exactly the same Jdevloper BC4J over mySQL.
I got one step further.
In order to solve your problem:
1. Add AddJavaLibFile ../lib/mysql_comp.jar (or whereever
is your mysql driver) in bin/jdev.conf.
resart the application
In that case your driver will be available for all tasks.
It works for me.
My problem:
When I run the Tester for my generated module, I obtain:
No attribute with the Primary key property was found...
Can you emeil me the procedure if you find how to use
BC4J over mysql

  • Using Struts with JDeveloper, BC4J and OC4J 9.0.2

    Is it feasible to use Struts with JDeveloper 9.0.2, BC4J 9.0.2 and OC4J 9.0.2? We have an application that uses the BC4J JBO tags in version 9.0.2. We wish to use Struts and we want to retain the use of the JBO tags. Is there a way to do this without upgrading to 9.0.3?

  • How to use CVS with JDeveloper

    Hi all!
    I'm starting a new project and I would like to know how to use CVS with JDeveloper. This is my first project where I will have two more people working with me and I don't know what the better approach is. Should I use CVS that come with JDeveloper (option Internal to Oracle JDeveloper 10g) or should I configure an external repository? In both cases, I don't know what I have to do to have CVS working properly with JDeveloper. Actually I tried to create a new CVS connection in CVS navigator (using the access method Password Server), but when I test I receive the message: Could not open connection to CVS server: general socket failure, sure I must doing something wrong.
    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for you help John!
    I installed cvsnt and when I try to create a new CVS connection inside JDeveloper I receive the message: authorization failed: server adminf29786.dixamico.com.br rejected access to /Diversos/DownLoad/CVS/usr/local/cvsroot for user JMartins
    I using pserver method and JMartins is my user in windows
    There is something that I'm curious about, when I was installing CVSNT I didn't configure any user and password, is there any default user/password?
    Thanks!

  • Is there a detailed tutorial about using Subversion with JDeveloper?

    Hi,
    My project is currently in my single-user repository, and I have checked out, modified, and checked in my files. All that works fine, but there is much more functionality available. At the moment, I am going through some YouTube videos by Stuart Fleming, but I was hoping that someone might suggest an article that I could keep as a searchable reference.
    Thanks.
    James

    Hi Timo,
    Using Subversion with JDeveloper is the only way I use it. Would you explain what you mean below?
    You just need a couple of method which are not dependant on jdev.
    Thanks.
    James

    I had very similar problems with adding the correct JDeveloper .jar files to Tomcat's lib folder, but did eventually resolve my issues.
    The problem I am having now, however, is the following error message:
    Error Message: oracle.jbo.html.RequestParameters.addParameter(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)V
    Yes, I have deployed the bc4jhtml.jar file from JDeveloper to Tomcat\common\lib!
    My web-app is a very simple BC4J JSP application. I have one BC4J component in its own project and JAR file, and one JSP referencing that BC4J component - I deploy the BC4J JAR along with the WAR file from the JSP project. Needless to say, the JSP works fine within JDeveloper..!
    I'm using JDev 9.0.3 and Tomcat 4.1.12. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    S.

  • Issues with deploying BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J

    To everyone who's been having problems deploying BC4J/JSP applications to OC4J.
    We are aware that you're having problems deploying to OC4J, and we're working on them. OC4J was not available in time for us to add support for OC4J deployment to the JDeveloper 3.2.3 release. In addition there are some bugs in the first release of OC4J that have an impact on BC4J applications. This note describes the issues, and how we plan to address them.
    Issue 1: Classpath problems
    People have been getting "class not found" or "properties file not found" errors when they try to run their JSP. The answer is to make sure that all relevant archives and your JSP's .properties file are in the OC4J classpath - there's a note addressing the .properties file problem at http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html. In general though, setting up the classpath can be tricky.
    Issue 2: JSP TAG NOT RELEASED ON END TAG. SAME TAG IS REUSED.
    This issue affects JSP pages whose behaviour relies on a tag instance being cleaned up as a result of release() being called.
    Your tag will not be released, and subsequent instances of the tag will reuse the first instance, rather than instantiating a new
    one.
    Issue 3:JSP SCRIPTABLE VARIABLE NULL
    A scriptable variable set in a tag cannot be accessed by a scriptlet. For example, this JSP code will throw a
    NullPointerException, because the scriptlet cannot access the value of resultRow:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
    %>Workaround: Add a line of code at the beginning of the scriptlet to explicitly get the variable's value from the page context, for
    example:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    resultRow = (oracle.jbo.Row)pageContext.findAttribute("resultRow");
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
    %>
    What we plan to do
    To address issue 1, we're currently testing a utility that installs the BC4J runtime libraries to OC4J, and provides a script to start OC4J with the correct classpath. We plan to post this by the end of this week, along with instructions for deploying a BC4J application to OC4J; deployment will be a lot simpler after running the utility.
    To address issues 2 and 3, we're working on a second utility that installs BC4J runtime and provides a fix to the JSP compiler. We plan to post this second utility by the end of next week.
    We do apologise for the problems you're having; please bear with us as we work on making it easier for you to deploy BC4J applications to OC4J.
    Thanks
    Blaise

    Hi, I have been trying desparately to deploy
    a simple example JDeveloper application for months and months.
    I HAVE NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DEPLOYING ANYTHING.
    I don't know much about webservers and I am relying
    on the instructions from JDeveloper help and this website.
    I have already tried Apache, and WebLogic
    because there are instructions in the JDev help.
    No luck.
    Now I am trying to use OC4J on 9ias because there are instructions.
    I have read the instructions about how to install a BC4J
    app on OC4J about 25 times, but I can't get this thing to work.
    It works fine inside of JDeveloper.
    I create a BC4J project using the scott
    schema (just the dept and emp tables).
    Then I create an empty project for my JSP client.
    I choose JSP Application from the web
    objects and it connects to my BC4J project.
    As I say, when I run it in JDeveloper, there is no problem.
    In the instructions for installing BC4J
    in OC4J, it first says install JDev 3.2.3 and OC4J.
    This is done, and it tested fine.
    Then it says to install the deployment software.
    No problem.
    But when I deploy the app according to the instructions,
    it just hangs (like Rick Wang's program did).
    The main.jsp page loads and displays correctly,
    but when I click on the links to the DeptView.jsp
    or EmpView.jsp it just hangs.
    Here is the entire batch file I'm using
    to start OC4J: cd c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home

    The file al_BC4J.jar contains my application.properties file
    and my connections.properties file, as well as my business components.
    All of the files referenced in my classpath are
    present in my c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\lib directory.
    I noticed that Raghu's classpath contains a file called jdev.jar
    So does the classpath of another fellow who says
    he was successful in deployment (his name is Jeffrey Jackson).
    I searched my JDev_3.2.3 for this file and found it nowhere.
    I also searched my OC4J home and my 9iAS for this file and
    found it nowhere.
    It is nowhere on my C:\.
    Is this file necessary?
    I will also try removing my application.properties file
    and my connections.properties file from my BC4J .jar file
    and put them in a separate .jar file at the root level (as Raghu did).
    However, Jeffery Jackson did not do this and says he was
    successfull in deployment.
    ***DO I NEED TO JAR UP ANY OF MY THE FILES FROM the JSP
    FOLDER IN JDevHome\myhtml???***
    ***or place them in the classpath?***
    I have read over all of the discussions at: http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/008232.html

  • How can I use mySQL with OC4J

    Hello,
    I have standalone OC4J and I want to use mySQL database (Oracle is no problem). My data-sources.xml for application (not global data-sources) is:
    <data-sources>
    <data-source class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
         connection-driver="org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver"
         ejb-location="jdbc/MG_DBDS"
         inactivity-timeout="30"
         location="jdbc/MG_DBCoreDS"
         name="MG_DBDS"
         password=""
         pooled-location="jdbc/MG_DBPooledDS"
         url="jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:3306/test"
         username="root"
         xa-location="jdbc/xa/MG_DBXADS"/>
    </data-sources>
    Deploy return me:
    Error initializing data-source 'jdbc/MG_DBCoreDS': DriverManagerDataSource driver 'org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver' not found
    Then I run this command:
    java -jar %OC4J_HOME%\admin.jar ormi://192.168.1.14:23791/ admin heslo -application Register -updateDataSource -oldLocation jdbc/MG_DBCoreDS -jar mysql-2.0.11-bin.jar
    this action is success and create in OC4J folder lib with jar file mysql-2.0.11-bin.
    When I use this configuration in application, I get connection but creating Statement cause SQL Exception - No suitable driver.
    When I try to restart OC4J, I get the same message as throught deploy - Error initializing data-source ...
    What is go wrong???? Could me help anyone?
    Thanks
    Libor

    pooling solution:
    1) put driver mysql.jar into any directory wich described in OC4J application.xml file like
    " <library path="D:\j2ee\home\lib">jdev-generated</library>"
    2) put a new datasource in data-sources.xml:
    <data-sources>
    <data-source name="MySqlDS"
    location="jdbc/MySqlDS"
    class="com.mysql.jdbc.jdbc2.optional.MysqlConnectionPoolDataSource"
    max-connections="100"
    min-connections="5"
    inactivity-timeout="200"
    wait-timeout="10"
    username="scott"
    password="tiger"
    url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/oln?useUnicode=true"/>
    </data-sources>
    OC4J needs a special pooling class in comparision with other containers. For example, JBoss has own implementation of pooling broker, so pooling is enabled by default.

  • What is best method for learning how to use mySQL with Coldfusion?

    I have been using access databases for years with Coldfusion. I have a client that wants me to build an online classroom. I figure it's time to finally start using mySQL, but there is so much info out there, I don't know which way to turn.
    Where do you experts recommend I get started?
    Also, I am using coldfusion entrprise on my system at home. My machine is a 64-bit, 3.30Ghz AMD FX - 6100 six-core processor with 8gig of ram. Can I install mySQL on the machine and run CF8 without any problems?

    How much RAM left on your system? If the computer is strictly for development, then you have more than enough to run ColdFusion, MySQL, browsers, and other development tools.
    For MySQL download the MySQL Community Server and MySQL Workbench. There is also all-in-one package for Windows, http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/windows/installer/ that you don't need to download the server and workbench separately. The installation should be straight forward.
    By the way, other CF users may suggest you to use MariaDB (https://mariadb.org/), which is a branch of MySQL.

  • Connecting to MySQL with JDeveloper

    Hi,
    I built a small test projcet, based on default (Struts) technology with JDeveloper and MySQL. I configured the project to work with MySql connector, and when I test the connection I craeted it works fine, and the same is true when I test the model projcet by selectig TEST on the applicaton module pop up manue. However, when I try to run the view-controler project, uix DataPage I bulit, I get the follwing error message: Error initializing data-source 'jdbc/MySQL-orderentryCoreDS': DriverManagerDataSource driver 'com.mysql.jdbc.Driver' not found.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi, I am writing a database program, and I decided I
    should try and use MySQL since many people have told
    me it is the best way to make a database. Does the
    java version that Sun provide come with the api to
    create mysql databases?
    You are more than a bit confused so please stop here until you understand the following.
    JDBC is the API for communicating with relational databases in Java. It is not a database in and of itself but it can communicate with any database that provides JDBC API access in the form of a JDBC driver.
    Also, I would like to know of a good tutorial that
    teaches MySQL with java.The Sun tutorial on JDBC may be found here http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/jdbc/index.html
    Your using (or not) MySQL is not relevent on this forum and any questions you have regarding MySQL (with the exception of one) are beyond the scope of this forum.
    The exception is "Is there a JDBC driver for MySQL and how do I use it". The answer to that question is yes and see this http://www.mysql.com/products/connector/j/

  • Using TortoiseSVN with Jdeveloper

    Hi,
    How to use TortoiseSVN with J developer 10g.
    I have installed Subversion1.3.2, TortoiseSVN 1.5.6,but couldn't find any tutorial online..........

    Hi,
    TortoiseSVN is a stand alone SVN client (usually used as an explorer plug in). JDev comes with it's own SVN client build in (via an extension).
    So what you can do is to check out some projects with JDev and use TortoiseSVN to check the folders in the file system. In theory you can check out projects using Tortoise and use them in JDev, but I never got it working correctly.
    BUT you normally don't use Tortoise and JDev in parallel. You use either Tortoies or JDev.
    I'll use Tortoise only to check some files when JDEV is not running. Some advanced function like branch or merge are better (easier) done using Tortoise, but this is my personal opinion.
    One BIG Warning I have to share: Don't use Tortoise Version 1.5.x together with JDev. JDev uses svn in version 1.4.x (JD11g uses almost 1.5.x but I've not tested it). The protocol has changed between the 1.4.x version to 1.5.x version.
    If you check out something with 1.5.x you can't see or use it with 1.4.x.

  • Using UIX with Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2

    Jdeveloper 10.1.2 was released with UIX support built-in.
    I have been working on 10.1.3.2 for a while and i am required to work on an old application that was build in 10.1.2 using UIX and Struts. How can integrate the UIX enviornment to 10.1.3.2. and most probably i will be requierd to build new pages for the same application modules and i am of course, going to choose to build the new pages in JSF while keeping the older pages (UIX pages). both will have BC4J model
    I am aware of the migration tool, but not ready to go into a migration process, the application if for a GSM operator and been used by some 400 + users

  • How to use ant with Jdeveloper 11g

    Hello, as we develop our app with ADF Faces & EJB 3.0 we are using tomcat 6.x + openEJB 3.0 as a sort of app server. So we need to build application archive 2 differrent methods (collapsed war for tomcat and ear for Jdev's integrated WLS). Besides, some xml files need to be modificated depending on target server. So we are going to use ant to build archives.
    My questions:
    - Where should I copy built archive for deployment on integrated WLS (should I copy it in ant's target or Jdev can do it for me)? Or there is another way to do the following: when one presses Run button on a page ant builds an archive for local WLS and then app is deployed and the page is opened in a new browser tab (just like default Jdev behaviour)?
    - Where can I find tutorial on integration of Jdev & ant?

    Here is a good example [http://biemond.blogspot.com/2009/04/weblogic-jdeveloper-ant-tasks.html]
