Using NB fan connector for case fan?

Seeing as the only fan supplies that support fan control are the CPU and NB, if I'm using a Zalman cooler instead of a NB fan to cool the chipset, is it possible to utilise the spare NB fan connector for one of the case fans?
Or is that a silly idea because the speed of the fan will be dictated by the temperature of the NB chipset which may or may not enable sufficient case cooling?
Has anyone tried this?

In actual fact I have 7 x 80mm Cooler Master Fans in my system. 2 in the back, 2 in the front, 2 on the CPU (Hyper6) and 1 on the clear side door. All fans are the CoolerMaster Blue LED type and spin no faster than 2600RPMs. I never slow down the CPU fans ..... system is always on and always doing something stressfull   but using Speedfan or CoreCenter I can slow both fans on the CPU down to 20%.
4 of the fans are powered through the mainboard (through PSU) and the other 3 using the PSU molex power connectors (not the FAN_ONLY connectors .... not enough juice  ).

  • Fan connectors for kt3u2... ????

    guys,
i am curious what the fan connectors on the kt3 ultra2 board are for...
cfan1 - it says processor fan.  of course its straight forward that its the hsf that uses this... but what is the maximum current that it can deliver???
psfan1 - it says power supply fan.  i can't figure out exactly how psu's utilize this connector if it does not have a sensor line...  also, isn't it that psu fans run by themselves?
sfan1 - system fan... this is where the biggest question lies... what is a "system fan"???  and what kind of fan can it support without burning pcb traces???

the privileges is not the problem cos I can access all objects via sqlplus and the select any table priv is granted directly to the user 'A' thus you shouldnt have any priv's problems with the procedures.
currently there are public synonyms on all the objects , do these synonyms have to be private ?
I know if you import the metadata from the sources then you can specify the schema and dblink , but can you do that when registering the locations ?

Hi, hope one of you guys can help me out here,
Okay, I've got a Celeron Slot 1 400Mhz/66Mhz and a MS-6117 Ver. 1.1 system board which lacks the PSFAN1 or CFAN1 connectors, it's not that the system board is damaged or whatsoever, it's just not there, ive dl-ed the manual (ver1.0) and they should be there!!.
I don;t know what to do, maybe connecting the cpu fan (original connector) to the system chassis fan jumper SFAN1.
    Any suggestions?

  • How to use Oracle Direct Connector for HDFS(DCH)?

    hi all,
I am trying to use Oracle database to access HDFS through DCH. Now I installed Oracle database 11.2, hadoop-0.20.2 and DCH on the same linux machine.
I also configured hdfs_stream properly and created Oracle directory HDFS_BIN_PATH according to README.txt file within DCH.
Now I encountered a problem, how I create a external table which access data residing on HDFS?
    Can anyone help me ?
    Thanks in advance.

I figure out the way which access HDFS data from Oracle External Table through DCH as below, but still face some problems
    Step 1
    Created Oracle directories as following:
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY hdfs_bin_path AS '/home/oracle/orahdfs/bin';
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY data_dir AS '/user/hadoop';
where /user/hadoop is HDFS directory in which data file test.txt located.
    Step 2
Created Oracle external table as following:
    create table xqs_ext_test(col1 varchar2(100))
    organization external (
    TYPE oracle_loader
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY data_dir
    ACCESS PARAMETERS (
    records delimited by newline
    preprocessor hdfs_bin_path:'hdfs_stream'
    badfile hdfs_bin_path:'empxt%a_%p.bad'
    logfile hdfs_bin_path:'empxt%a_%p.log'
    fields terminated by ','
    LOCATION ('test.txt'))
    reject limit unlimited
    parallel 2;
when run SQL statement : select * from xqs_ext_test; the following error was prompted:
    SELECT * FROM xqs_ext_test
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
    ORA-29400: data cartridge error

who can help me out with this problem?

  • Cant see or control case fans on MSI board

I just upgraded my PC to Devils Canyon and h87-g41 pc mate. Everything is working fine... except i cant see my installed case fans and they are running on max (i assume) and making a lot of noise.
The very old board i upgraded from had option in bios for automatic fan control under overclocking (if i remember correctly). I set it to automatic and case fans were controled based on temperatures.
But the new msi board cant detect them correctly. SPeedfan and cpuid hwmonitor does not show them, and they are not show in bios. And i cant seem to find any settings for case fans.
Only fan it detects is the aux fan at the back of the fan and controls it automatically.
I used Live Updater and did total install, so i should have all the drivers.
I plugged them in right, used the pins and not the molex.

On your board, CPUfan1, CPUfan2, and Sysfan1, are the only fan headers that are setup for sensing, the other two are 3 pin headers and very likely have no sensor on them.... as far as BIOS or any software are concerned, they simply are not there, if you need them controlled, you might have to buy a fan controller.
You could plug one of your case fans into CPUfan2, if that header is not being used, and then you would have full sensing and control of it.

  • 3 pin fan connector on ARC1680 Raid card

    HI
I have my little fan to attach to the heatsink on the ARC1680 Raid card, but I only see what appears to be a two pin connector for the fan on the card.
Is there a 3 pin connection on the card?  Or should I get a fan with 2 pins.
I *DO* see a 3 pin connection for a fan on my ASUS motherboard.  Would I use that connection?
    Thanks
    Rowby
P.S.   I found a second photo from an earlier thread  -- from the raid website --  and it seems to indicate a 2 wire connection??  It's hard to tell from such a small photo.

For those ordering the ARC1680 raid card, here's the address of the USA located distributor I received from Aareca's California tech support:
    Dear Mr. Rowby Goren:
Yes, it is two-pin connector  for our fan. You may purchase it from our distributor listed below.
    kaleidonet, Inc.
    Address:
    Fremont, CALIFORNIA 94538
    Tel:
    510-438-0288
    Fax:
    510-991-9928
I assume it's a standard type fan, so if you can buy a 2 pin fan elsewhere it should work.  But I went ahead and bought mine from them for conveneince since I live in California

  • At what temp will MB start case fans?

I apologize in advance if this is covered somewhere and I've missed it. I did some forum searching for case fans but didn't seem to find anything related to me.
I have a Z77MA-G45 installed in a SilverStone case with two front case fans. Those fans have never started running on their own, but the fans will run if I bump one / "push start" the fan. After playing a simulator on full quality my video card fans were going crazy and it seemed like the air inside the case was pretty hot, but the case fans weren't running. I thought something may be wrong, but then I thought maybe even with the video card fans going full-bore the internal temperature wasn't enough to start the case fans.
tl;dr Does anyone know what governs MSI's automatic fan control? How hot does it have to get in that case before the fans run?

None of your three pin fans can be controled. CPUFAN/ SYSFAN1/ SYSFAN2 are all four pin on Z77MA-G45. Other than on other MSI Z77 boards the fourth pin of all headers is used for control on this mainboard.
    Quote from: Z77MA-G45 manual
you must use a specially designed fan
with a speed sensor to take advantage of the CPU fan control
Connect the fans directly to psu and use a manual fancontroler.

  • Any case-fan experts here?

This is it!!!!! I have 3 80x80 Coolmaster (DAF-B81)-(28-32dB)(they have these thermal sensors which control the RPM), two at the back blowing in, one on the left side(next to the VGA card) blowing out, and now recently I got two 90x90 Coolmaster fans (TF9-25IM-7)-(37dB!!!!! )-both on the right side next to the drive, the lower one blowing in and the upper one blowing out.
I still have one free fan-hole( ) on the left side (upper one), and two in the front cover....
Heres some pictures of the case: http://www.chieftec.com/products/Workcolor/NewBX.htm
So I ask you, this is not a good setup is it?, but im new to the overcloking buisness.
I can always buy more fans if you know a better setup...
Im trying to find a Aquarius III water cooling set for the LGA775, but its almost impossible to find one where im living.....
Because the 90x90 fans are so damn loud I really need a fan controller for 4 fans,
So all I wanted to know is Which controller is the best one? and can I use the thermal sensor fans (80x80) with a controler????
    Thanks.....

Ok, I just rotated my fans at the back so they are blowing out, And I bought powerful fans (loud but with a controller pin) at the right side blowing straight at the CPU-fan and the VGA.... And one fan blowing in at the harddrive.....
And I was able to lower CPU temp from 59°C IDLE to 55°C which I think is pretty good for a couple of fans....
But now the Hardrive is at 30°C but was at 23°C but thats ok... as long the temp doesnt go to 55°C...
But what do you think about having a equal amount of air going into the case and going out???? Is that very important???? (ps. no I dont got any filters on my fans....)
And maybe any comments on the type of fans you like the most????
(I know this post does NOT fit into this motherboard forum, but its to late.....)

  • Fan Runs With Case Open Bad Heat Sensor?

I have an HP Pavilion 670y. I have a fan that runs for long periods of time and then stops and then starts again.  I decided to run my computer with the case open to make sure which fan was running before buying a new power supply if it was that fan.  Found it was the lower fan. The fan has less stops and starts with the case open but still has periods where it runs for a few minutes and then stops and starts.  Since I have the case open I can't see how the computer could be overhaeting.  Could it be a bad heat sensor?  If it is can the heat sensor be replaced or is it hardwired?
    This question was solved.

The HP support does not find a PC with that model number, however, units with a number of that nature of number are usually older units.
It is not clear as to what fan is considered the "lower fan".  The case fan may do as indicated, but a fan on the CPU or video card do not normally cycle.  Maybe include a picture? Click on the tree icon next to the chain "link" or ladder "video" icon to post a picture.

  • Front panel connectors for Envy H8-1511eo

    Hello.
I am going to be moving over the components in my current HP PC to a new case for more room, more airflow and better cable management.
The case that I'm moving my system to is the NZXT H440.

The motherboard is a IPMMB-FM (Formosa) manufactured by Pegatron.

Your Specific ZZXT H440 case has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectors on the Front Panel.
There are internal headers on the Formosa motherboard to support that functionality.

IF you have spare (unused) internal connectors (USB 2.0) , there are third-party brackets to bring that functionality to the rear panel through usage of an expansion slot bracket.

I sometimes use those extra USB 2.0 headers/connectors with an appropriate cable for an internal USB stick/dongle (e.g. San Disk Cruzer Fit, 16 GB),

So that I may have ready access to key OS or hardware drivers for the computer.
It ends the "searching around' for a CD/DVD or when Internet connectivity (for those files) may be lost.

The-d option requires the -u option.
In what way are you using uttsc and what version of Windows are you connecting to?

  • MOVED: 3-pin connector for fan

This topic has been moved to Overclockers and Modding Corner.
    3-pin connector for fan

Generally, the 3 pin connector on VGA cards is smaller than the CPU fan connector on a motherboard. You would need a converter or you may aslo need to mod the connector on the Zalman.
You could check to see if the actual contacts between the two are the same, in some cases I have been able to use a dental pik to remove the contact pins from the female connector of the original fan's connector and install it into the larger size connector but it's been so long since I have done it. In some cases I have been able to find the little metal contacts at an electronics store and crimp them on myself.
Since this is not an MSI product and this is an MSI forum, I have moved this topic from the VGA forum to here.
    Good luck.
