Using New 32GB Ipd Touch to transfer library to new PC

I just got the new touch and have a new Dell XPS 420 in route, can i use the touch with all 18gb of music and video to transfer to the new pc?
I am going from XP to Vista but this doesn't seem to be an issue with Itunes 7.6.1. Any help would be grateful. Thank you

some 3rd party software working for iPod are not compatiable with iTouch, try this instead

  • How to use a transfer library in FCPX

Here's what I want to do: I have an FCP X project going on my main Mac Pro, but I want to so some work on my laptop. The main thing I want to do is mark parts of the various clips with keywords so I can use those keyword collections back on the Mac Pro. In other words, I don't want to do work on the laptop (Mac Book Pro) that can't be transfered back to the main computer.
In short, I want to sit in bed with my laptop and listen to clips and mark the relevant sections of clips with keywords. (They are interviews, so they're very long clips.) Then I want to do the actual editing on my Mac Pro using these keywords. I know how I would have done this with FCP 7 and I love the new keyword method FCP X introduced but I don't know how to get it to do what I need in this case.
I understand that there is something called a Transfer Library, but honestly, I really don't understand the concept. Is this the best way to do what I'm trying? Open to any suggestions.
    Thanks
PS: I just started the project on the main Mac Pro, so if I need to re-import and start a new project, that wouldn't be a huge deal. I haven't really started editing yet.

Thanks, Russ. My older Mac Pro is a 2,1 -- I think I only missed by a few months in buying one that would run Mavericks (64 bit EFI).  I do intend to buy a "trashcan" Mac Pro but not just yet.
As for updating projects — that's my issue, I think. The Mac Pro and the laptop are networked so I can be working on my laptop and go to the Mac Pro and open the Final Cut Pro that is resident on that computer. What is odd is that it doesn't open any of the projects that normally open up with I start up FCP X on the Mac Pro.
I frequently work inside the house on my laptop running programs that are on my Mac Pro outside in my office — usually no problem at all with Adobe applications.
FCP X won't let me open a project by clicking on the project — it insists that I "Open projects from within FCP X" but they won't open that way.  This what is odd — that it won't let me open projects even thought they are fully native to that version of FCP and are even on the same hard drive on the Mac Pro.

I have a brand new ipod touch 32gb ipod touch. Upgraded to ios 7. open music app but there is no radio tab to select!!! All online help just says, "just select it".
I have looked at the "More" part but again radio is not an option.
    Can you help?

Just wait a bit.  Turn it off, then back on.
I don't know why, but after the update it doesn't show up right away.
When it finally does, you will find a red icon on the bottom of the screen, on the left side.

  • Newer 32GB iPod Touch no longer connects to MacBook.

My newer 32GB iPod Touch no longer connects to my MacBook at all. All has worked fine until yesterday.  All cables and USB port check out fine with older iPod. Touch still works beautifully but charge is dwindling. Since it's not recognized by MacBook no charge icons show up. I ran the trouble shooting pages in Apple Support, did all the resets, repaired permissions, reinstalled iTunes, etc. Any suggestions out there? Thanks!

Whenyou plug the iPod into the computer via USB does the iPod's screen show the iPod is charging?  (The computer has to be on)
Look at the dock connecort on the iPod and compare it with the dock connector for the iPod that does work. Look for foreign material, bent, broken or corroded contacts and other abnormalities.

When I open Iphoto, my thumbnails are there, but they aren't linked back to the actual photos. I see the original photo files in my HD. Is there a way to link the Iphoto thumbnails back to the original files?

Use the Firewire cable and t boot the old Mac's hard drive to the new Mac's desktop and transfer your entire iPhoto folder.
Use Disk Utiliy to erase'format HFS+ Journaled your TimeMachine drive and use the free Carbon Copy Cloner and clone your new boot drive to the external, it's hold option bootable.

  • HT4101 Why won't my iPad mini allow my gopro 32gb SD card to transfer video using the lightening to SD card camera reader?

Why won't my iPad mini allow my gopro 32gb SD card to transfer video using the lightening to SD card camera reader?
The gopro transfer worked with my original iPad. Is it the lightening technology?

If you've gone through all that and it's the right kind of SD card, right naming convention etc. try giving your iPad a reset. Sometimes that port gets turned off (for lack of a better term) and a reset turns it back on. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
If it still doesn't work, if you have access to another iPad try the reader on that. THere are some defective ones out there. If it works on another iPad then there's something going on with yours. If it doesn't work on another iPad then you may want to take that reader back and exchange it because it may be bad.

  • Upgrading from an iPad1 (os 5.5.1) to iPad Air.  I want to still use the original, but want to transfer my iPad 1 stuff to my new iPad.  Do I restore (doesn't that also restore the old os?) or set up as new?

I'm ipgrading from an iPad1 (os 5.5.1) to a new iPad Air.  I want to still use the original, but want to transfer my iPad 1 stuff to my new iPad.  Do I restore (doesn't that also restore the old os?) or set up as new?
Also, every time I get a new device and transfer stuff from the old, I wind up with no folders.  How can I avoid that this time?
    Thanks in advance!

Make a backup of your old iPAd to itunes or iCloud.
Then restore from that backup when setting up the new iPad Air.
The restore will put your data onto the new iPad.  (The Os will remain at 7).
Folder structure is a little iffy. Since backups don't restore Apps, only data, you would still need to re-download the Apps to the new Air and as such would need to create the folders for them.

iTunes will back up the following information
Camera Roll (Photos, screenshots, images saved, and videos taken.
Note: For devices without a camera, Camera Roll is called Saved Photos.
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).

    Call history.
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
Voicemail token. (This is not the voicemail password, but is used for validation when connecting. This is only restored to a phone with the same phone number on the SIM card).
    Voice memos.
Network settings (saved Wi-Fi hotspots, VPN settings, network preferences).
Keychain (this includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and passwords you enter into websites and some other applications. If you encrypt the backup, you can transfer the keychain information to the new device. With an unencrypted backup, you can restore the keychain only to the same iOS device. If you are restoring to a new device with an unencrypted backup, you will need to enter these passwords again.)

When restoring a backup to a different device, installed configuration profiles are not restored (such as accounts, restrictions, or anything which can be specified through an installed profile.) Any accounts or settings that are not associated with an installed profile will still be restored.

  • Is it possible to transfer library information such as play counts, ratings

I've learned how to transfer my music files to a new PC, but is it possible to also transfer library info such as play counts and ratings? I am moving my music from an old XP system to a Vista system. I would like to keep all my play counts, ratings etc if possible. I believe I can copy the library file but will it be a problem if the path is different (in XP it's My Documents/My Music where in Vista it's Documents/Music without the "My"). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are numerous posts about this in the forum. Here is an Apple article decribing how to do it using an iPod, but the method is essentially the same using an external HD.

It is generally better to start your own topic, rather than respond to an old post like this. The original poster is unlikely to be around after so long.

  • Tranfering data from an 8gb to a 32gb ipod touch

Would like to know how or if you can transfer (apps)data from one ipod touch to another without losing the game data that you are upto?

If you downloaded the apps on the Touch just "transfer" the purchases to your new install of iTunes (After you've set it up and authorized it please.)
Right click on the Touch when you've connected it and select Transfer Purchases.
Depending on how often you make purchases using the Touch you may have to make it a regular part of your routine.
... Or... you can keep the 8 GB strictly for apps, and many people now do, but you should still transfer the purchases to iTunes.
It's hard to drop a desktop in the sink but it happens to iPods all the time.
