Using new oEhP3 FI or old FI datasources

Hi all,
At the moment i am inventarizing for a SAP BI implementation how we want to set up our FI dataflows. I came to notice that since EhP3 there is a new way of extracting FI-GL, FI-AP and FI-AR data.
I tried to search on SDN on some more information but couldn't find really the information i needed.
My questions are:
- If you have SAP ECC 6.0 EhP 3 or higher, is it required to use the new datasources?
- What are the main differences between the new and the old flows?
- Can you use them simultanously?
Please let me know!
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Best regards,
Freek Geldof

- If you have SAP ECC 6.0 EhP 3 or higher, is it required to use the new datasources?
It is not a requirement to use the New GL Reporting DataSources, per se. If your FI functional consultant(s) haven't configured your environment to use this new functionality, there won't be any data to extract using the new DataSources and therefore the old DataSources would still be pertinent.
- What are the main differences between the new and the old flows?
The New GL Reporting functionality in ECC6 EHP3 and beyond provides for the posting of not only business financial transactions (as it always has) but also provides for settlement of internal document postings associated with managerial accounting concepts. It also provides the ability to manage multiple ledgers for different accounting principles, integrates financial and managerial accounting reporting (as eluded to previously), provides for segemented reporting to meet requirements for International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Cost of Goods Sold accounting.
- Can you use them simultanously?
I'm not sure that there's any process that would preclude you from executing both the New GL Reporting DataSources and the older ones, but if your ECC environment is configured for the New GL Reporting, I'm not sure that you'd want to execute the old DataSources (not sure if you'd get duplication of data or something worse if you tried).

  • How can I use new apps on an old macbook?

    Hi all.
I've been using macs since September now, and there are a number of things I've found infuriating about working on my Macbook...
My Macbook is an old, mid 2007 model, Version 10.6.8, with a 2.16Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and 4GB.
Unfortunately, this model of Macbook will not update to any later version.  This means there are a lot of apps I cannot use on it.
I'm a filmmaking student, so editing is a huge part of my course. When downloading the newest version of any editing software (such as Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer), the Macbook will simply refuse to install it, because it requires a newer version of OS X. This is just one example of the many things I cannot do due to the OS X version on here.
How can I get around using newer apps such as Premiere Pro with version 10.6.8? Baring in mind I'm a student so I cannot afford to spend money on a new hard drive or anything.
Also, if I have bought various games on Steam, but some of them are seemingly only playable on PC, can anyone tell me how I can get around playing those games on a Mac?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Steve

The Core2Duo MacBook (13-inch mid 2007) is rather dated, and to run a certain type
of software on that model you'd have to get the version which was current when the
computer model and the OS X versions it could run were prevailing. So an old version
of something you need (used, new-old-stock, etc) may do the job for a time.
Also, the Core2Duo series of early MacBook can run Lion 10.7.5 and that is about $20.
as a download with code you buy from the Apple Store online. There are a few updates
to the Lion version 10.7 once you went that far. Some older 10.6.8 capable applications
for Intel based Macs would probably still work OK in 10.7.5, but none of the PPC coded
third party applications would run without the Rosetta feature installed in Snow Leopard.
According to MacTracker database, your old Core2Duo is one of those which can run
Lion 10.7.5 at the latest, and a slight upgrade in RAM to 3GB total, is possible. Not sure
if any advantage of using two 2-GB chips would be seen as functional in there, but that
is an easy way to round off what is written as the higher supported amount of RAM. With
two of the 2 GB chips. Otherwise: one - 1 GB +  one - 2 GB = 3GB lists as total.
A good repaired MacBook or MacBook Pro of earlier vintage isn't very expensive; some
companies offer the versions older than those available at the Apple Store refurbished
page, that still may be capable, yet not run the latest applications. And several of them
probably should not run Yosemite since their hardware may be marginal. Models that
cannot have their hardware upgraded to run a later OS X, should not be chanced.
Sites such as macsales.com sometimes offer used Macs, wegenermedia.com has a
few different models, since they repair computers and offer excess on their site. The
powermax company has some. Not sure who actually repairs what they sell, with an
exception to wegenermedia who does repair on-site and will accept repair orders.
The everymac.com site is helpful in comparing various build year model specifications
as is the downloadable database of update upgrade specs from http://mactracker.ca .
So, you can upgrade past Snow Leopard 10.6.8, but that may or may not break other
applications you may still be able to use from the preceding era of Mac software. Lion
also would probably prefer more RAM than SL 10.6.8, so you're max-ed out there.
The MacBook series has been discontinued for nearly 5 years (2006 to 2010) so their
last model was among the better ones. MacBook/Pro 13-inch Late 2012 remains good
since you could add RAM and possibly upgrade the hard disk drive. It's a non-retina.
Hopefully you can find a deal on some good condition later model MacBook or Pro.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Using new iPhoto to update old .Mac gallery

I want to use iPhoto 6.0.3 to update this photo gallery, which was started in an older version of iPhoto: http://homepage.mac.com/lpennock/
I used to be able to select "share to web" or whatever that option was and update the gallery that way, but now it seems I can only create new "iWeb" galleries that show up here: http://web.mac.com/lpennock/iWeb/Site/random%20summer.html
If there is a way to move my entire .Mac gallery at the link above to a iWeb photo page, that's fine, I just want them all to be in the same place. Is this possible? Are all the old .Mac galleries now non-updatable?
    Thanks!
    -Lewis

    Lewis:
The only way I've been able to update my Homepage galleries was to do the following:
1 - export the files you want to add to a folder on the desktop resizing them to the size of the ones already in the gallery.
2 - mount your iDisk and locate the folder on the iDisk that contains the files for that gallery and copy your files into it.
3 - go the the .Mac page and log in and then goto the Homepage section.
4 - select the page you want to edit and click on the Edit button.
5 - the newly added files should show up at the bottom where you can edit the title and place them where you want.
As far as converting from Homepage to iWeb easily, there is no easy way. I'm in the process of doing it now and have to go about it this way.
1 - create the photo page in iWeb.
2 - go to the iDisk and download the source files for the Homepage you're converting.
3 - select all of the downloaded image files and drag into the iWeb photo page.
4 - with your Homepage open in Safari, copy the general text and photo text and past into the appropriate section of the iWeb page. Tedious work at best.

  • Can I use new iPods on my old Mac?

    Hi all,
Thinking of getting a new iPod but my G4 computer doesn't have USB 2.0., just FW and older USB. I've got OS 10.4.1 and the newest version of iTunes loaded. Are new iPods and old computers compatible somehow?
    Thanks!
    Sue

Sure they are, my eMac and my 5G were working together for a while, but I had some crashes, perhaps due to the unreliable first 5G FirmWare.
If iTunes is up-to-date, you shouldn't have problems.
Sideways is that USB 1.2 is a pain in the back when it comes to syncing an iPod, on the other hand, if you mainly charge it from your Mac, no matter how long the sync will be, charging will be longer.
Syncing manually can be more time saving.
Perhaps buying a PCI USB2 card can be considered too.

  • I have an older Ipod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new Ipod Touch and cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?

I have an older iPod Touch, I bought a new one and the Itunes on my computer is too old to recognize my new iPod Touch and Itunes cannot be updated.  Is there a creditable software program I can use to get all my old music from my old iPod Touch to the new one?  It is my understanding that the music cannot be saved onto my new iTunes, b/c I did not have iCloud. I have over 2,000 songs I just cannot part with. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help some how!!  THANKS!

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

  • I have a new mac and my old mac had my photos on it how can I get my photos onto iPhoto without using a external drive or flash drive?

My dad put a new mac in and the old Mac had my photos on it, and I checked iPhoto after it the new computer was plugged in and there was no photos in it, and my dad said that they should be in there but they aren't, so is there a way to get my photos onto the new Mac without the old one and without an external or flash drive? Because a lot of my photos I don't have on my camera because the memory card was full and the pictures that I had already had been on the old mac....
    Thanks!

Have your dad post de what happened - you need to be at least 13 o se these forums and we need to be able to understand what you are asking
the basic answer to moving photos is Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.  but you say you do not have the old computer
Unless  you have a backup or there is more information the answer is there s no way now

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • Using new battery on old 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo

I am in a remote location, under a deadling.  My 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro battery cable finally went south.  I'm in a studio with half a dozen brand new battery units ... for 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro's.
Can I use the battery from a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro on my older 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo???
    All ears,
    Ben

As I wrote above, there is no possibility of using one of the new batteries in your old machine: it absolutely won't fit. Furthermore, removing the battery from one of the new machines will void the warranty on that machine, so even if you could contrive a wiring harness to connect one of the new batteries externally to your MBP, there would be good reason not to do it.
And if you did, there is no way to predict how the charging system in your machine would respond to the incorrect battery. Would it be charged at all? Would it be charged only to the capacity of the battery specified for use in your computer, which is far lower than the capacity of the new battery? Would the SMC in your machine recognize the battery and distribute the power from it correctly? The answers to these and many other related questions are anybody's guess.
So the solution to your immediate problem will be to move your work onto one of the newer computers, finish it up by the deadline, and order a new battery for your own computer.
