Using NIK software...LR5 said it cannot prepare the file for editing

I have reimported photos from my backup HD (Lacie) into LR5. After selecting a photo in LR5 I attempted to edit using NIK software...LR5 said it cannot prepare the file for editing?

Hi,
starting a couple of weeks ago, we get the following error(s) when running applications from a network share. We don't know what causes this, we are not aware of any major changes in our network infrastructure or client/Server configuration. We did upgrade
a lot of machines to Windows 8, but the issue also occurs on older Win7 computers.
We figured out a workaround though: The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share (like
\\share.domain.Company.com) and only cause problems when running from
\\share directly. They have worked fine for years without FQDN though.
Any ideas?

It sounds like a DNS suffix issue. When this issue occurs, please try to ping share on the client, then check if the corresponding IP address is correct. If the IP address is wrong, please adjust your settings of DNS to make sure that the client can resolve
the share correctly.
If it's very hard to change the settings of the DNS for some reason, as a work around, we can add the entry into the clients' hosts file.

DURIM - Okay. I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]? We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro? If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I appreciate any help you can give me to get this audition program started

What you can download via Safari on the iPad is very limited - you can only download apps from the iTunes app store on your computer to sync to the iPad, or from the App Store app directly on the iPad

While signing a .XML file a message "cannot read the file for signing" is displayed. What is the solution.

An official site incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in requires .XML files to be uploaded. When .XML files are uploaded without digital signatures there is no problem. When digital signatures are required for signing the same a message 'CANNOT READ THE FILE FOR SIGNING" is displaced. It happens with CHROME and IE also. The solution which I have devised is that I copy the .XML files in a folder called FAKEPATH in C: drive and pick the file for signing from this folder. The browser allows the file to sign with digital signatures. What is the solution.

Possible to overwrite a pdf when in use OR alternative open a pdf without holding/locking the file
We frequently generate pdf files from our 3D program and would like to know if it's possible to either open a pdf file in a way that it doesn't get locked or hold up so the pdf can be updated even when opened or in use.
Most programs e.g. ultra edit & notepad will let go the file when you opened and hence the file can be updated or over written even when in use.
If any guru can help, would be highly appreciated

It's not possible to overwrite a pdf when it is already in use by a different program or user. The file then opens up in Read Only mode.
You can make a copy of the file and then apply those changes later in the original file. That's the only possible solution.

Yes it is on a portable drive yet I have already worked with it and exported it as a jpg. The problem arises whenever I try to edit in the plug-ins from Nik software...this just happened recently as it never happened before...for years?

Try deleting the entries from the Movies part of your library (i.e. where you are trying to play them) and see if you get the cloud symbol next to them for re-downloading in the Purchased link

Batch process using Nik Software - is it possible?

I'm using Nik Software (plug-ins) with Aperture and was wondering if there was any way to do a batch change? For example if I have to reduce the noise using Define2.0 and I have a profile I would like to use already, is there a faster way to process a set of pictures altogether rather than one by one (which I currently do now)? I've tried selecting multiple ones and opening it in Define2.0 but it seems that unless I view each picture in Define2.0 then some pictures still remain unprocessed.

If you have the most up to date version of the Nik plugins, you can batch just as you are explaining. Simply select a handful of images and right click>edit with>Define, Viveza, Silver Efex Pro, etc.
You do have a powerful graphic card to do this smoothly.

What exactly did it do?
Crash while saving a file? That most probably ruins a file.
You can try and create a new Illustrator file, then place the old one in it. If that doesn't work, You might need to search for a backup.
Don't have a backup?
Start using the (free) plugin Autosaviour, use Time Machine (or whatever your system offers as a backup software)
