Using non-original RAM in X4600

Hi @all,
did anybody tried to use non-original RAM for a X4600? We are thinking to do so, because the RAM is a little bit expensive and we have an offer for the same typ of RAM from a local vendor for 1/4 of the SUN price. Anybody have any experiences?
Thanks in advance
Andr

Normally, as with all other manufacturers, there could be warranty issues when using 3rd party RAM. Contact Sun.

  • Anyone using non Apple ram with standard heatspreaders?

    Hi,
Is anyone using non standard Apple ram with normal sized heatsink/heatspreaders and if so have you had any problems?
I can find ram for the same spec that works but they only have the standard thin silver heatspreader attached and am concerned about running temps etc.
If anyones using these modules without problems, please post here!
    Thanks.

Might want to read this article and it has some good information to help you decide.

  • Does the imac 5k use the same ram as the non retina imac 27inch from 2013?

Hello all, I have just ordered my first ever apple product, an imac 5k. I don't know much about imac's, I want to buy some ram for my new imac. Can someone please confirm whether it uses the same ram as the 27inch non retina imac from 2013?

The answer to your Question is YES
I they both spec with  1600MHz DDR3 memory; four SO-DIMM
    AND
I just took out 32G out of a late 2012 iMac and replaced the 8G that my new
Retina 5K iMac came with and all is working FINE.....
BTW the Retina iMac display is incredible .......

i bought a kingmax 4gb 1333 DDRIII ram , wanna change with one of original rams , i want to know the performance will be like apple rams ????? or does rams have any difference ????

    Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.

  • Carry out repairs in non-original system only if they are urgent

    Hi Experts,
I am getting this message "Carry out repairs in non-original system only if they are urgent" while i try to edit a z function module which i have created in the development system. Because of this I can't change the code, I need to use the insert, delete....buttons.
    Please help , itz urgent.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Soumya.

    Hello Soumya
Obviously the Z-function module was originally created on another development system. Therefore you get this message.
If you have transferred your function group to another development system then simply change the source system of the function group. You can do this using transaction SE03 (function "Change Object Entries...") or you can use function module TRINT_TADIR_MODIFY.

  • Is it ok to use 1GB + 256MB RAM in Satellite P25-s607

I have a Satellite P25-s607, and I wanted to know the following:
    1) if it's ok to install only a single 1GB stick of RAM next to a 256MB stick? Will I lose any performance speed doing this versus 2 1GB sticks (assuming I use under 1GB of RAM at most times)? Sounds like it will not have a performance hit since this model doesn't support dual-channel memory (according to crucial.com)
    2) I assume this is the correct (best) module to use: [1GB, 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700|http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=3B53A794A5CA7304] with specs:
    # Module Size: 1GB
    # Package: 200-pin SODIMM
    # Feature: DDR PC2700
    # Specs: DDR PC2700 CL=2.5 Unbuffered NON-ECC DDR333 2.5V 128Meg x 64
    3) Is there any reason to install BIOS 2.10? It is listed under the toshiba support site under P25-S607-related, but the only change it states is: "Added support for the Pentium 4 D1 stepping CPU"
    4) Is it possible to install a better CPU? I assume not...
    5) What about graphics card (it came with NVIDIA® GeForce? FX Go5200 graphics controller; 64MB DDR external video memory)? Also I assume not...
    Thanks for any help!!

    Hi
    Regarding the question number:
    1) The notebook can be upgraded up to 2GB RAM and therefore you can use one 1GB RAM and one 256MB module. But its always better if you would use the identical memory modules. Its better for performance but I doubt you will notice an performance boost.
    2) Yes, you have to use the 200-pin SODIMM, DDR PC2700 modules
    3) If your notebook runs trouble free then I dont see any reasons for a BIOS update
    4) Usually its not advisable to upgrade the CPU due to a higher heat dissipation and overheating risks due to a higher CPU performance
    5) No, this is definitely not possible because the GPU is fixed on the board

  • Can Illustrator really make use of 8GB RAM?

    Hello,
I'm thinking of upgrading my 17" 2010 Core i7 Macbook Pro from the curretn 4GB of RAM to 8GB or RAM as the prices have come down considerably. (around £40.00).
I've already posted a thread on a mac forum, but I thought that posting in on here would also be benificial.
Basically I would like to know is, is there any point doubling the RAM? Can Illustrator realy utilise 8GB of RAM? My files are becoming larger and so Illustrator runs slower - I've monitered this in Activity monitor and the pages in/out seem to have a 10% difference which is apparantley a indication of more RAM needed. I've also seen a few 'Not enough memory' messages in Illustrator.
    Thanks for your input.
    Nathan

Illustrator on the Mac is a 32Bit app currently. It can only utilize ~3GB of RAM. Hopefully, since Illustrator is one of the last remaining non-64Bit Adobe apps, that'll change in the near future. If you are buying for performance today.. it won't make any differnce. If you are buying for performance next year or 6 months from now, it may make a world of differnce.
You can still launch and use Illustrator on a 64bit system (I do every day) but it won't see any additional RAM. That does not mean more RAM isn't helpful. Illustrator can use it's ~3GB and the OS cna utilise the rest. This does make things faster even if Illustrator is still limited. In addition, I don't know any Mac users that use Illustrator and do not use Photoshop. Photoshop is a 64bit app and will use as much RAM as you feed it.

  • E52 users: lightest non-original theme

E52 users, what is the lightest non-original theme that you've come across. I previously used PiZero Black&Aqua on my previous E51 but it causes CPU spikes on the E52 so just wondering if ye have any recommendations for the lightest (in terms of resource use) themes out there. I've firmware 051.018. Thanks

    URxvt*color1: #3D3D3D
    URxvt*color2: #ffffff

3d3d3d is for red but you have a blackish and color2 is for green but you have it white the rest should be the default colors. it uses the same colors only it changes the vairiant of the color you choice there or normally moc uses colors such as green blue and such which will call your console colors for those respective fields I know moc has /user/share/moc/themes/ that you can edit or make your own for instance copy one and edit it. I think htop uses the same color count which is 8 but with so green will be white when you use urxvt. 8 for normal colors 16 for bright dark and urxvt is 256 which is 16 but can use any of the 256 colors for 16.
just to clarify you have commented out your colors 4-15 and your green and red is weird, and htop aswell as moc is 8 bit. moc theme_yellow_red is default for background so it will use urxvts background
Haahaha, that is simple. And it works!!!
I didn't bother with commenting that because i thought they are not applied. Anyway, thanks man. My urxvt terminal si grateful to you and your thorough explanation. SOLVED!

  • Can I download and use non-Universal Games like Bookworm and Word Whomp ?

Can I download and use non-Universal Games like Bookworm and Word Whomp on my Macbook Pro? If I can, will they interfere with the computer's functions in any way? What about non-Universal widgets? Thanks.

hi Chevaux - Welcome to apple discussions!
i dont know how resource-intensive those apps are but you can certainly run them. if they are not universal binary they'll operate through an emulation layer called Rosetta. there's a performance penalty there, but if the app is not intensive in the first place, and/or you've maxxed out the RAM, you might very well not notice the penalty at all...
i assume the same comments apply to non-UB widgets, but as i abhor Dashboard i don't use it at all.......
    cheers

  • Firefox using too much RAM

When starting (or restarting Firefox) everything is fine - even with loads of tabs open. Slowly, even if I'm not using it the RAM usage increases 500M and up.
I'm running 35.0.1, but the problem existed with earlier versions too. Reading various threads looks like I'm not the only one, but none of the threads come up with a solution.
I have however tried all the things suggested, disabled hardware acceleration, running in safe mode, etc. Makes no difference. The problem remains. The only thing that works is closing Firefox and reopening it, say every 30 minutes - that's a pain.
As I say this has been going on for a long time in various version (certainly a year or two) and on various PCs. On 64 bit machines with loads of RAM it's a nuisance, but I have some applications which will only run in a true 32 bit environment, and in on those machines Firefox is to all intents and purposes unusable.
The other thing that works is using explorer, but I've been a Thunderbird user almost since day 1 - back in the days when real mozilla techs gave real technical support - so I really don't want to have to do that.
Would be good, as a starting point if someone could say how much RAM Firefox should use running in safe mode with only one tab open. That would at least put a stake in the ground.

What programs do you have installed on your machine? You said you already "altered" the about:config variables. Which ones did you alter? You can try using an earlier version and/or a portable one. Have you tired refreshing Firefox? Try starting Firefox in private browsing mode.
I cannot replicate this problem you are having, I have currently 10 tabs open and it is barely pushing the 400mb mark. It may be an issue with Windows 7. Have you used Ccleaner to clean out the registry, after an uninstall, before you reinstall it?

  • Mac Mini boot issue after reinstalling original RAM

    Hi,
So i am having issues with my 2012 Mac Mini i5 with 4gb of RAM(2x2Gb).  I wanted to upgrade my RAM and unfortunately i keep getting stuck at the Apple logo screen with the progress/loading bar.  The bar gets up to around 40-50% and then my mini just shuts down. So one fix action i took was to reinstall the original RAM, nope that didn't do it.  Next i reset the PRAM and same issue, I am stuck now and have no idea what to do next short of tossing this thing off the building.  as you can see its a bit frustrating, so any and all help would be very much appreciated. Thank you

  • Although I am using the original cable of my iphone 5 but since the update of io7  I am facing this cable of accessory is not certified warning, how can i fix it?

I have proble that appears on my Iphone 5 since the update of ios 7, the warning message says" the cable or accessory is not certified"
Although I am using the original cable but still appearing.
    how can I fix it?
    thanks

Apple blocked a lot of cable keys. Including official keys that were suspected of being used on non-MFI cables.
Sony, Panasonic, belkin etc all pay big $$ to have a licence to use the proprietary 'lightning' cable. Which is basically a USB cable that apple wants everyone to use. The EU has laws against creating these kinds of devices but because Apple is a monopoly they can do anything they want. USB, more particularly micro-USB is the standard for every phone and tablet device. Apple is the only manufacturer who appears ignore ewaste laws and continue to insist on ID chips in everything it makes. They would put on in your food and your brain if they could lol.
If I was a business I'd do it too ;) money money money! It's the name of the game.
Anyhow.... The bypass is software based and to bypass the block do the following.
    Turn phone off.
As the phone is powering down, when the spinning icon is on the screen plug it in.
The phone will now charge, leave it for a few hours and turn it back on.
Warning - if you plug it in when it's already fully powered down the phone turns on and blocks the cable.
I know it's not ideal but it will charge your phone at least till you but some MFI / iOS 7 cables from eBay.
USB cables have never killed anyone yet somehow apple is trying to convince everyone they do lol... At least that's what their marketing team is trying like the devil to prove. I wish I could make a 50 cent cable and charge $25 for it lol.
No offence to apple but they are sliding down a slippery slope. Everyone can see the iphone walking down the path of blackberrys and Nokia over the next 5 years until it's a faded memory of a good idea that didn't innovate.

  • Using the original charger, my ipad air says it is not certified and wont charge

using my original charger, my ipad air wont charge. it says the charger is not certified and may not work. it charges my iphone but wont work on the ipad

I've the same issue with my new Ipad Air and using the original charger.
It starts to charges then after a while it stops and issue the incompatible charger msg. Then I unplug and plug again and it starts charging again.
Know the trick thing is, I've exchange the chargers from my other IPad mini and none of the ipads gave any charging issue, they charged till full.
I see no logic on this.

  • Fixed Assets Mid-Month rule using non-calendar fiscal months.

Our fiscal year variant is year dependent with twelve posting periods.  For example, period 11 for fiscal year 2007 is defined as 29-Oct-07 through 25-Nov-07 and period 12 is defined as 26-Nov-07 through 31-Dec-07.
Fixed Asset depreciation keys MSTL and NA1 use period control 03 (Pro rata at mid-period).  Period control 03 is currently not configured in our SAP development system.  The IMG help text for “Use of Half Months in the Company Code” states that “You cannot use half periods with non-calendar fiscal months”.
How do USA companies configure mid-month depreciation keys (like MSTL and NA1) and mid-quarter depreciation keys when they use non-calendar fiscal months?

    Mike,
Would be helfpul if you can describe how you resolved the above issue
