Using NT username & password with Portal

I want to have a pulling mechanism between the Portal application and the component that holds the NT username and password. If I were to log onto my NT box with username:XXX password: YYY and bring up the Portal application.. I wouldn't have to go through the Portal login process because the Portal application already pulled my username & password. Any thoughts?

Oracle9iAS Portal Knowledge Exchange has a community contribution that describes how to get the portal to authenticate users against their NT credentials, and subsequently, how to facilitate the transparent login of NT users to the Portal.
This contribution is from Damian Edwards and can be found in his community folder (labelled "DAEDW1"). Damian is one of the top rated contributors and his article on NT authentication with portal is one of the top rated community items. • Using SSO username/password in java portlet for Database Connection

    Hi all,
We implemented java portlet with environment Oracle Application server 10.1.2 and Portal 10.1.4
At present we are picking the database username and password and connect string in properties and our
java class is reading the properties file and connecting to database to fetch the records.
Our idea is to not to pick the username/password and connect string from the properties file or
not to configure the datasource in data_source.xml.
Our Requirement is who ever login to the Portal(SSO) our java class should pick the sso username/password and
connect to database to fetch the record(s).
Because our database users are one to one mapped to sso user(s) of portal.
We request anyone to guide us how can we do it or suggest any suitable solution for our requirement.
    Thanks
    Dan Tey

I think this is a no-go, since you cannot retrieve a cleartext password from the OID if I'm correct.

  • SOS!!! can not type username/password with heart symbol () to login with keyboard.

My child accidentally added heart symbol (♥) in username, and now I can not login into my macbook air as I can not type the ♥ symbol with keyboard. apple tech service said no such experience before.

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • At 3AM, within seconds, there were two attempts at using an "incorrect password" with my AppleID. The message from Apple was that it was probably a harmeless error. Seconds later, the third attempt worked, and that was the last my email has worked.Next???

At 3AM, there was one attempt at entering my AppleID password, which failed per the email message. A few seconds later, a second attempt failed and the email message from Apple was that it was probably a mistake caused by someone entering a wrong keystroke when trying to enter their own password. Well,, a few seconds later, the message was that I had successfully changed my password. Great.
Yes, it was a full twelve hours later that I saw this, since 3AM is a perfect time to hijack anyone, and I did do what it said about changing my password. But I want to know how someone changed my password at 3AM and had total access to my whole computer. My security is the highest Apple has.
Mostly, that was the LAST email I've gotten. I can't bring email online. I can't do anything.
I am mostly computer ignorant, which is why my daughter made me get an Apple in the first place. I love Apple. Any ideas at all the damage done? This seems like a big hole in Apple email. I am absolutely sure no one knew the password because I used a sequence I have never told anyone. Even my ex-husband of 35 years would have no clue.
Did someone have to know that password? Is there another way? Well, I guess so.
    Help. Those emails are critical.

Well if someone got access to your AppleID, they didn't get access to your computer, however, there is some information such as you iCloud information that they may have gotten access to.  If you changed your pasword back to something else, then they won't have access to it anymore either.  I'm not sure what is going on though because I have been getting a lot of those emails on my work AppleID that I have to have for work because I need to keep their phone seperate from all of my personal equipment.  It's just strange though that in the past few days I've been getting like 5 or 6 of those emails stating that an attempt was made to change my pasword a day.

  • Use of synchronized keyword with portal services

    Hi,
Can you confirm me if it is true that a portal service is a Singleton? I mean, when using an instance variable of a portal service I am able to set the value of the instance variable using one client app and get it afterwards using another client app. So we are talking about the same and only instance of the portal service, right?
If this is true how can I synchronize the access to a portal's service method? I tried to mark
the method syncronized (in the interface) but then I realized that this issues a compiler error because one can not mark an interface method synchronized. So can I mark the implementation class instead? That is, can I leave the interface without the synchronized keyword for the method and still mark the implementation of the method in the service class as syncronized? Does this work?
    Thanks in advance,
    Diz

    Hi,
Portal service is not a Singleton, as the name says a service is just provider for services which does not save state between two requests/applications.
So if you want to save state, then use some session variables to save it.
In a cluster installation, each server node has its own portal services, so if you save state in service, then your application should save this state on all servers of the cluster.
So you should change your approch.

  • OJ 8500: Scan to Network Folders - invalid username/password with no password.

I'm using an 8500 Pro Wireless (A909g) on Windows 7 machine.  I'm trying to set up the Scan to Network Folder feature.
Problem is this: I dno't have a Windows password set up.  In this case, the printer cannot log onto my computer.  If I set a password on my PC, and then edit the scan to network settings for this password, then it can connect.
I don't want to have a password on my PC and would like the printer to log on to it this way. I tried deleting the profile and re-adding it.  Still no luck.
    Any help?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    I solved it.
    Two things to check.
1) Under Advanced Sharing Options (Network & Sharing Center --> Homegroups and Sharing options --> advanced sharing options....) -- Password Protected Sharing has to be OFF
    2) For the folder that you are wanting to share and have scans saved to, right click, properties, security.  You need to add "NETWORK" as a user and make sure its set to READ/WRITE.
    That fixed it for me.

  • Changing the NodeManager username/password with WLST

    Hi,
When connecting to a WLS managed by a node manager I can navigate to the SecurityConfiguration MBean:
    cd("/SecurityConfiguration")
performing an ls() at this point lists all of the properties/methods availabe. Two of the properties are nodeManagerUsername and nodeManagerPassword. I'd like to change these values, however they don't appear to be exposed by JMX.
However, the API docs for this MBean at:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs100/javadocs_mhome/weblogic/management/configuration/SecurityConfigurationMBean.html
indicate that I should be able to set both of these fields. So, how do I go about setting them? Or is the only way to do so via the
admin console, in which case, how does it get a handle on the MBean?
    Thanks
    Ryan

-bash-3.00$ sqlplus IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DBBecaue of the dollar-sign, The shell is trying to expand the environment variable $bvs#ir@DB
Of course you have no environment variable by that name so what gets passed to sqlplus is not "IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DB", but rather "IRES_USER/U9"
In your first test, you didn't pass the password on the command line, so the shell didn't get a chance to intercept it.
You can have a similar issue if you have a '@' in your password
oracle> sqlplus scott/P@ssword@orclTns will catch that first "@" as the delimiter to the tns string, and come up with something that cant' be resolved.

  • Publish ESB without username/password of connection using Jdeveloper

    Hi,
I have used jdeveloper10.1.3.3 to developer BPEL Process and ESB services.
I have created a Application Server Connection in jdeveloper with hostname, url path and RMI Port right, but without username and password.
I have created a Integration Server Connection mapping the connection above. I tested this Integration Server and the result was:
    Application Server: FAILED
    BPEL Process Manager Server: OK
    ESB Server: OK
After the test of Integration Serve Connection , I tried register my ESB project using the action "Register witn ESB" from Jdeveloper and the result was the error:
"Reload services from ESB Server failed while trying to query service definitions from server."
After the registry, I saw in the ESB Crontol that the ESB Service was publish.
    Question:
Is possible resgistry a ESB service with URL connection correct, but without username and password of Application Server Conncetion from Jdeveloper?
Is there any configuration for validat of username and password of Application Server Connection in the publish of ESB service?
    Is a bug of jdeveloper?
    Thanks,
    Fabrício.

Hello. I'm pretty sure you cannot register an ESB with no username/password - it uses the username/password information in the integration server connection properties to login and deploy. We were surprised that BPEL uses ant build properties so you can specify the name/password, ESB does not - it only uses the integration server connection info.
In 10.1.3.4 (which we don't have yet) the ability to use ant for ESB deploys has been added.

  • Invalid username/password; logon denied

We are migrating from Oracle 8 to Oracle 11g. Amongst the various tools the client uses is an application written in C++ that uses ODBC. This application is giving us a peculiar problem: From the laptop of one of the main developers, it can connect to the Oracle 11g database just fine. From every other machine (including my own desktop) we cannot connect to the Oracle 11g database using this application.
On my desktop, I can connect to the database using SQL*Plus. I can use the ODBC connection I created for Excel and import data from the Oracle 11g database into a sheet of mine. Thus, for all intents and purposes it seems to work.
Ordinarily I'd say that the C++ application is simply broken. The only problem with this explanation is that it apparently works from the main developer's laptop. Does this strange behavior ring a bell? Did he not correctly deinstall his Oracle 8 libraries? Are there configuration options we could have forgotten somewhere? A client setting regarding case-sensitivity of usernames?
The error message comes with "COM info" and says:
    HRESULT value = -2147217843
HRESULT message = IDispatch error #3149
IErrorInfo source = Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
IErrorInfo description = [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
I was hoping I could trace the connection somewhere and figure out what username and password was being sent over the wire. Unfortunately the listener.log file only list the OS username, eg. (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=xxx)(CID=(PROGRAM=xxx.exe)(HOST=xxx)(USER=asc))) with asc being my OS username but not the username used to log into the database.
    Any other ideas?

someone does have the exact and correct username/password valuesApparently username and password are hard-coded into the application, so if I'm using the same application, I should not have to worry about username/password (both of them lower-case and both of them ASCII-only, no fancy encoding issues). I can use this username/password to connect to the database using SQL*Plus.
What I'm missing, I think, is proof that the application is in fact always sending the correct username/password to the server, or that the application is triggering an error (except for the developers laptop) which is somehow masked by the "invalid username/password" error message.
But there are ways to grab login info (i.e. username, client IP address, etc.) and maybe save it to a table or log it some place if figuring out the correct username is part of the issue. How could I grab the login info used by the application as it tries to connect to the Oracle 11g server? Below I have added some (too much?) Tracing info. Can I extract the login info used by the application from it?
One thing that surprised my is that I see a ns=12630 in the Trace file (ORA-12630: Native service operation not supported) -- I wonder whether that is the real culprit.
I've set my sqlnet.ora on the client side as follows:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES)
    TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT = SUPPORT
    TRACE_LEVEL_SERVER = SUPPORT
    ADR_BASE = \app\asc
I've used trcasst to convert the Trace file into a summary, but didn't find anything to tell me what the problem is. The last function apparently involves TTIOER. That indicates an error somewhere, I think.
    <--- Received 128 bytes - Data packet timestamp=012-04-25 10:42:58.595706
    ORACLE function complete (TTIOER)
    ---> Send 10 bytes - Data packet timestamp=012-04-25 10:42:58.597280
         Data Packet flags:
              End of file
Looking at the Trace file itself, my main problem is that I don't know what the important parts are. Here is a selection that caught my eye:

few things you can check :
    a) Is there a password file ? Is the password correct in it ?
    b) SYSDBA remote login is disabled. remote_login_passwordfile is not set to EXCLUSIVE in the spfile or init.ora.
    Set: remote_login_passwordfile= EXCLUSIVE
    Create a password file:
    Unix: $
    orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapw$ORACLE_SID password=sys entries=5
    Windows:
    C:\> orapwd file=%ORACLE_HOME%\database\pwd%ORACLE_SID% password= sys entries=5
To synchronize the password for sys for normal connections and connections as sysdba connect as a sysdba user and reset the sys password:
    $ sqlplus "/ as sysdba" SQL> ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY change_on_install;

  • How to compare the texted password with the encrypted password of dba_users

    Hi,
I have Oracle 10g in my system. I know dba_users table has information of all the created users of the oracle, along with their encrypted passwords. If I want to make a login page based on this table ,how could I compare the password in that case?
In above situation, I am getting the username with the regular texted password for authentication check. How can we checked this texted password with the encrypted password of dba_users, for the respective username?
    Your input would be appreciated.

Try use the username/password from login page to create an connection to database.
