Using old iPhone after getting New iPhone

I have an iPhone 4. I also have an old original iPhone. I have decided that I might as well load the old one up with games and give it to my 5 year old. I have not touched the old phone since I got my new one. I would like to wipe everything out of the old one and just start loading up age appropriate apps for her. How would I go about doing this? Can I still plug it into my Mac now that I have another iPhone on that Mac? Can I still download apps even though there is no longer a contract on the original phone?

while connected to itunes, you can choose what apps, songs, pictures, movies you want to sync to your phone. everything that syncs to your phone will have a check mark. if you dont want it on your phone, you uncheck it.
so, let just say you have an app on your old phone and new phone that you dont want on the old phone. you plug in the old phone, go to the app list and uncheck that app. then sync. now that app is no longer on the old phone. when you plug in your new phone, you will have to check that app again so it doesnt get removed from the new phone. make sense?

Thanks for your reply but maybe it would be helpful if you could elaborate a bit on that or maybe I was not clear enough in my question. What I need to do is NOT stop using icloud. But gather everything that is already stored in my old icloud account (X) and save it in my device (iphone, ipad etc) and then continue using icloud but with my new account (Y).
In a scheme:

Step 1) data from X -> independent device data, and then the X account is removed from the device while the data stays.
Step 2) account Y is added to the device.
Step 2 continued) now the device has a. "the independent device data" that was drawn from the account X and b. the litte piece of data from Y that I have already created.
Step 3) independent device data -> data in account Y (along with everything that is created from now on, and everything that has been stored there. The little piece mentioned above.) Everything should now be merged in Y. Merged in a "good" way. Not overwritten, not deleted etc. Nothing should be lost (old or new, from the device or from X or from Y).
The last step is kind of optional. If the best I can get is having data associated to Y (future and past) AND "independent device data" that is so independent to the point that it cannot be added to my Y account since icloud recognizes and stores only data that is created after the account's addition to the device, then I can deal with that.
I hope I cleared everything out.
I need my notes and pages documents from my old icloud account to become independent device data and just stick to the device. And then, if possible, be uploaded to my new icloud account.

You need to get them to a computer. Synch your phone to iTunes, and make sure you've transfered all your purchased to iTunes. Synch your new phone to iTunes.

Connect your iPad to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...
If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

Unfortunately you do not have direct access to iOS backs in iCloud.
I am not sure what you mean by:
It's locked with an enterprise (third party code)
Do you mean it is a corporate device and managed by Mobile Device Management software?
If so the IT department can reset the passcode.
Other than that, there is no third party iOS app that can lock the device at that level unless it is jailbroken and then no one here can help you.

No. When you restored the backup of the old computer it wiped out everything on the phone.

Back up your old iPhone using iTunes. Make sure you use the current version of iTunes (11.2.1).
Then when you get your new iPhone, restore using the backup from the old one. This assumes you have the same telephone number and cellular carrier and Apple ID on the old and new phones.

I previously owned one of the original first generation iPhones, but that was recently stolen so I got a new 3GS for Christmas. I am syching it with my computer for the first time and iTunes is asking me if I would like to synch the new phone with my old phone's information. I need to know a few things before I can decide;
1. Will the syching process completely erase everything I have on my new phone currently in favor of the old backup information (ex. contacts, notes, calender events, pictures, ect)?
2. Would this be safe for the new phone, or would there be software problems between the different generations?

A new iPhone is not synced with the backup for a previous iPhone. When connecting a new iPhone to iTunes that was used to sync a previous iPhone, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the previous iPhone to the new iPhone. This will transfer the backup for your previous iPhone to your new iPhone as of the time your previous iPhone's backup was update.

The current iPhone firmware version can be run on every iPhone generation - on the original iPhone, on the 3G, and on the 3GS.

This issue is blocking my access to iTunes and any other file from my home computer. It keeps on telling me that I have to autorise my computer to pass on files, yet, it seems, for all this to happen, I need to get logged in through the phone's Apple ID. This of course is different to my one on my computer - and I have no password for it.
This phone is not stolen!! I payed still a fair bit for it. Am still in contact with the previous owner. He doesn't know how to fix the problem either.

Settings>general>resets>erase all content and settings.
That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.

Can you restore your apps after setting the same iphone up as new iphone? And can you restore each app manually?

I restored my iphone because I have hundreds of apps and wouldn't want to delete them. Well I don't want to exactly permanently delete them. I just want them off my iphone as it makes it laggy and kills the battery. So I backed it up. However, I am wondering if I can restore them after settting the iphone as a new iphone. The latter is an option which exists after you restored your iphone. I hope you know what I mean. I also wonder if you can restore one app at a time manually.

Just use Itunes to mark which apps you want on the phone and which you don't. No need to wipe the phone as Itunes is an wasy way to manage your apps.
