Using old licenced software versions on another pc

My company purchased CS6. We want to use our old Illustrator CS3, an old photoshop and acrobat on another pc. Can I symply deinstall it and install it on another pc without any licence or activation or registration problems before installing the new CS suite?

You should deactivate the applications before uninstalling so that you still have the activations available. YOu can install the upgrade software woithout having the older versions on the machine, but you will need the serial number from the earlier version in order to get thru the activation process for the new upgrade.

I have 10.6.0 on a white Intel Core2Duo iMac. Whether I have no other software running, or Safari this event happens intermittently. When I do a search/replace with BBEdit 7.1.4 (yes I know it is old), the WindowServer or LoginWindow is crashing, and all the applications including the Finder close down, only to relaunch the Finder.
Is this a RAM issue, hard disk space issue (30 GB of 128 GB is free), or some other issue? Barebones doesn't believe their software even being that old would cause this problem.

me too. Multiple crashes in 10.6 and 10.6.1. Nothing fancy on my end. Just vanilla apple apps and entourage.

Can i use old and new version of iPhoto on one computer with 2 users

my partner wants to use the new version with his library and i want to stick with the old iPhoto 6 for now. i haven't opened iPhoto 8 on my side yet and when i look for the old version of iPhoto 6 i don't see it... i thought it was supposed to remain available even with the upgrade.
is iPhoto 6 still available once iPhoto '08 is installed?
i assume someone knows the answer or has seen something somewhere that addresses this question.

The danger is that iPhoto won't automatically know which library to open, and if you open the v6 library with the v7 app you will probably make that library unreadable by v6.
You're best bet is to hold the Option key each time you launch iPhoto and choose the correct library. This suggestion comes from Old Toad in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5102027

Bold 9700 won't let me sync with Windows 7 computer using BlackBerry Desktop Software version 6

I just got a new computer with Windows 7. I installed version 6 of BlackBerry Desktop Software. It installed just fine. When I connect my Bold 9700 to it the software recognizes the phone and has the list of model, PIN, and phone number. It allows me to backup the device - but not sync it.
I went to configure my sync settings. It goes to the screen for me to set the sync options for calendar, memo pad, etc. I selected calendar. It asks me which application I'm using and I select Microsoft Outlook (I'm using Outlook 2010). I choose 2 way sync. So, up to this point it's working correctly. But, then when I hit "next" on this screen it gives me an error message - the operation terminated unexpectedly. I have no clue what's going on.

I have the same problem and have tried one way sync's, deleting and re-entering the calendar entries made around the time the problem started. If it is a corrupted entry, I can't find it.

Want to use old 600 software with 700wx

My old treo 600 just died and I bought a 700wx to replace it. Got it up and going today, but I HATE the calendar/scheduler on the 700. I have to sync my calendar at work with Outlook, and that's what I want to use...any ideas how I can dump some of this software and go back? (Frankly I don't like how the 700 presents any of my programs/options. I liked the setup of the 600 far better.

Okay, so I need it in simple terms (I know what I like, but don't necessarily know much about the hardware or software). You're saying I can download a different windows app? If I load this Styletap I could use it instead of what I have on there (I don't need to separate it, I am fine getting rid of the OS on there now, playing with the programs and layouts last night convinced me I don't like much about anything on there, I'd be happy to revert back). Sorry if I am misunderstanding, and I appreciate the help/advice.

Is there a way to go back to a past software version?

I have an iPhone 3. It doesn't perform well now that I've updated it to the lastest software. Is there a way to go back to using a past software version, like in the 3.0 range, instead of using these newer 4.0 versions? I think the 4.0 and above are just too much for my phone but I still want to keep my phone rather than upgrade it.

Can't Update my itouch into higher software version unless using another computer. What is wrong with my itunes?

I have itouch 2nd Gen, 8GB with software version 3.1.3 and itunes 10.3.1 (the latest). I know that the farthest software for 2nd gen itouch is 4.2.1, right? BUT everytime i try to check for updates on i tunes, it would always state that it is the latest version. Before, it used to be 1.3.1 (or so. Can't remember) and it insisted that was the latest version until I connected it to a friends computer and voluntarily updated itself to 3.1.3. I'm torn now because I want to know what the **** is wrong with my itunes. I've restored multiple times, still, it won't upgrade. I EVEN HAD MY WHOLE LAPTOP FORMATTED, and still, failed. Are you really sure that you have a 2G iPod? From what is happening it appears that you have a 1G iPod that canonly go to 3.1.3, Check here:

OK, I understand that new versions make use of facilities that come with new versions of IOS, but there is/was a version that runs on 3.1.3 and therefore, I assume 4.2.1. Where can I get the (old) version that runs on my IOS?

This is standard for Apple. While there is little official mention of the software support lifespan for equipment, typical support has been about 4-5 years for computers. It strikes me that newer items, especially mobile devices, are not built as sturdily nor do they have the hardware upgrade capabilities required to keep up with newer systems. When we bought an iPhone 4S we were told by the person in the store we'd probably be looking at a newer model in two years. The iPhone 3G could be anywhere from 2 to 4 years old, putting it well into.
As for app availability, Apple typically pulls old software versions from its site when new versions appear. If it is a non-Apple app then I guess it is up to the vendor. It is indeed tiresome but it is not at all unusual. Since I only ever run used Macs, I download current versions even though my computer won't run them, stick them on a hard drive, then I have them when I upgrade to a newer used computer. If you run older equipment you have to learn a different mode of operation to exist with the Apple 'new and innovative' but 'forget about the old' philosophy.

It also make a footnote which states "make sure that your network connection ia active and try again". When I click the button labeled OK just below the messages, another message will come up which reads, "A new iphone software version (5.1) is available for the iphone software. Would you like to download it and update your iphone now?". It gives me the option buttons such as CANCEL or DOWNLOAD AND UPDATE or DOWNLOAD ONLY. If I click on DOWNLOAD AND UPDATE or DOWNLOAD ONLY. I saw your message. Below are the problems:
Whenever I connect my iphone 3GS to my PC through a USB. My itunes software comes up automatically.
1. After that a message appears from the itunes that states that 'itunes could not connect to the itunes store, an unknown error cccured (306).
2. After the above, an alert message comes up which states that A new iphone software version 5.1 is availlable for my iphone. It then states would you like to download it and update your iphone now? With the options buttons as Cancel or Download and Update or Download Only. Whenever I clicked on Download and Update or Download Only, the next message that comes up is that The iphone Software Update Server Could not be Contacted and suggest make sure your network setting are correct and active or try again later.

Using old version of InDesign for upgrade

Hi. I have an old, never-opened retail copy of InDesign 2.0 that I bought with a new Mac some years ago. The white tape seal on the top of the jewel case is still unbroken. I'm semi-retired and don't do any layout or graphics work, but I have one project that was created for me years ago using Indesign that I would like to be able to update myself. I would like to be able to upgrade to a later version of InDesign, but not to the current one--probably to version 3 or 4. One reason is I think the file I will be using is in 3; the other reason is I am still running OS 10.6.8 on my Mac. Can I install this software now on my Mac? Will its serial number work to authorize an upgrade version on installation? What can I do? Many thanks

Thank you, Bob. Just finished a verrryyy lengthy chat with a nice Adobe rep, who gave me some slightly different info, and, sadly, about the same conclusion.
I was told I can't install the ID 2.0 on anything past a G5.
I might qualify for an upgrade to CS4 (ID 6.0) but I'd need help from Adobe for the authorization. However, that supposedly runs on OS 10.4.11–10.5.4 only.
He said I can't use CS 6 because it requires OS 10.7 and up. So I could take a chance on CS 4 and if that didn't work, give up and swear off Adobe. (I was raised on Quark) Or look for a later full version of Indesign -- if that was ever even offered.
As far as finding old software, I'm sitting with an unopened retail copy that's 7 years old. If it were still usefiul, I believe it would be legal to re-sell.
I've had success buying authentic old stock software more than once. I ask for pictures of holograms, etc. (I'm still using Appleworks and until I couldn't run system 9, i wouldn't give up Claris Emailer).

Need to revert to my old OS on iPad. Cannot. Tried using old backup but this Trojan horse type software has corrupted my ability to do so. Tried emailing but it bounced back unacknowledged. I was sent notice that I can't get support. Christmas 2012 gift.

Wasted an entire day trying to purge my older computer which is linked to this iPad. I reset my iPod and ended up deleting and wiping clean but it's not factory but the aggressive 7.2 which returned. I want my old OS back. Their software has destroyed my ability to use my iPad for the purposes I intended it for.

Ralph9430, thanks for responding but the fact that they don't support AppleCare on a unit less than a year old despite being an older version is wrong.
It suppose to be from date of purchase so their not taking responsibility for the maiming of people's computers and their subsequent arrogance in not removing it is going to their undoing.
We have purchased iPhones, Mac Pro, iPad, iPod touches in the nano, shuffle and touch versions in the past as well as the more solid 80gig version. I
I am still using 3G model phone and I can no longer find apps to use with it because Apple feels I don't deserve new apps.
My children are using iPhone 4 and my daughter was seeking to upgrade to the newest model when it becomes available. They are social, I am not and I deserve the software I paid for. It should always be an option.
I can tell you that this particular oversight is causing me to look elsewhere for future purchases and I will not be recommending Apple to others as I have in the past.
