Using older version as default

Hi!
I installed CS5.5 and kept older version CS4 on my mac.
Now I can't change CS4 as a default application on my .indd files,
I have tried using command+i -> CS4 and also an app called "RCDefaultApps 2.1" with no help.
Every time I double click an -indd-file it opens in CS5.5. Same problem with Acrobat Pro, always opens in Acrobat X, but I want to use Acrobat 9 as a default (because of plug-ins).
Only way to get this work is to change file type associations in Bridge, but it only works when the Bridge is running. And I just don't want to use Bridge...
Can anyone help me?

I have removed all iphoto files and avatars as one person has suggested. I am suppose to reinstall iPhoto using the discs that came with the computer.

Force using older versions JRE & Java Plug-in as default version from IE

We have a web application that relies on JRE on client machines. It works properly with verion 1.4.2.xxx. Recently some of the users got updated to Version 1.5.0 automatically (auto-update feature). Now the web application doesn't work as expected on those machines.
I want to know if there is any specific way I can force a machine to use an older version as a default version i.e. without completely removing the new version.
I already tried various tricks like changing registry settings, Env Variables, etc. The default version changes when accessed through command prompt (java -version), but when I go back to the web page, it still loads the New version.

But we would like the browsing JRE to remain using 1.4.2.

We i scan PDF files by using Scanner its appear message that i am using PDF version software ( acrobat 6.0 Pro ) in my computer older than the PDF output from the scanner.and i dont want to upgrade the (acrobat 6.0 Pro)...is there any tool to make PDF output compatible with acrobat 6.0 and disable this error message.?

I have scanner that creating PDF documents newer than my acrobat in my computer .The acrobat version in my computer is 6.0 Me Pro and i can not upgrade it because some aplication depenend in this version and when i want to browse any PDF document which is created from the scanner its appear this message:
"This file appears to use a new format that his version of Acrobat does not support"
How i can disable notification for this error permenenatly without appearing again .?

Bridge cc uses older version of photoshop

i just installed adobe bridge cc and it keeps trying to open images with an older version (uninstalled) of photoshop. I tried to uninstall and reinstall bridge with no luck. Any suggestionjs?

Update on this issue:
Concerning Ps CS6 seizing Dominance:
I did try UNinstalling and then re-installing Ps CC 14.00 but Ps CS6 still retained "Dominance" (meaning that it was impossible to change System Permissions to recognise that all PSDs should always be opened from the Finder in Ps CC).
Finally I uninstalled Ps CS6 from this HD and now CC has established "Dominance".
Bridge CS6 was NOT removed from my HD when I uninstalled Ps CS6. (You need to keep Bridge CS6 until Adobe replaces the the AOM Panel in Bridge CC.)
Also, choosing the Default File Associations in Bridge CC, now correctly sets all Photoshop-related Associations to Ps CC instead of Ps CS6.

Flash CS3 Mac/Win Projector Publishing - Using older version of Flash

Hi,
How can I use an older version of Flash player when publishing to Man/Win Projector? The Properties says 'Player: 7' but when I publish to Mac/Win (.app/.exe) the file says it uses Flash player 9 (9.0.115.0)!
One of our clients are having issues with a project published this way - on autoplay they get a white screen instead of the program screen and after they update Flash on their computer, the application (Projector) works. What's the issue?
This is what I have on my first frame (using AS2), is any of this suspect to older versions of Flash? :

But even if something on this project wouldn't work on an older version than 9.0.115.0 then it shouldn't matter as the Projector will always use the embedded Flash player, not the player installed on the computer, right?

Our client is getting frustrated and I'm out of ideas as to what's wrong with the Projector executable! Why would it give white screen on launch on some systems and not on others?

Upgraded Java, CF still using older version - how?

This server is Win2008 fully patched, IIS 7.0 in good shape - CF 9.0 no patches installed - which we obviously want to fix. When we tried to install patches, we got this:
To try and resolve this, our first mistake was installing Java version 8 (1.8) - which we-now-know doesn't work with 9.0. What I'm not following is why CF settings reports still using 1.6. From what I've read and can see in java.config, it's storing/accessing its own JRE in CF directories. 2 questions: 1) How can I access the security settings for this JRE so I can get patches installed 2) If not possible, am I right in thinking we have to uninstall 8, reinstall the server version of 6 (1.6), point CF at the server version of Java so we can change the security settings (with restarts at the proper places) so we can start getting security patches installed? Any alterations to those steps?
Once I get to patch 4 we'll be upgrading to Java 7 - does CF 9.01 fully patched work with Java 1.8? I see Java 7 is due to expire April 2015.

Coldfusion uses its own version of java by default. You can, however, change this to use the version installed on the server when you download it off of the internet. Here is a blog post about this process - How to change/upgrade JDK version of ColdFusion server — Adobe ColdFusion Blog.
Note as well just because a new version of Java is installed doesnt mean that the old version is gone. Major java revisions dont upgrade, like .NET it just installs the different version. Sometimes when you install Java 7 or 8 it will leave the old legacy versions which the browser will still try and use. Usually, after the Java install is done, it asks if you want to remove the outdated versions. You can use the official Java uninstall tool to scan for old versions and remove them for you - Java Uninstall Tool
Coldfusion 9 wont support anything higher then Java 7. Java 8 has only just been made available to the most recent version of Coldfusion in the last 6 months or so. Like Java 7 soon, Coldfusion 9 is end of life and support for it stopped last year.
Finally, you don't need Java to update CF9. Java is used for the browse dialogues to find the files. If you have already downloaded the hotfix jars, just copy and paste the path & file name in to the Update File box and click Submit Changes. This will do the same thing and install the hotfix.

Using older version of itunes, apple support #'s

I was wondering if anyone has tried using an older version of itunes when their ipod wouldn't sync. I've got Itunes 8, and if downloading an older version will help me sync. Im for it!
Are there any apple support numbers where I can call and ask for assistance?

Alright, so I hate when things update, and usually I just put up with it for new innovative features. I was very content with Skype 5, and the upgrade to 6.0 was frustrating, but I dealt with it. Never at any point during my use of 6 did I prefer it to 5, even as time went on.
Finally, we get to today. I was forced to download Skype 7, and it is the most horrible, buggy, frustrating thing ever. I can barely do anything without it randomly freezing, or spiking in memory usage. I'm using the right version for my computer, my computer is very up to date on hardware, and I've had no software problems with ANY other program to this magnatude. And that's BESIDE the fact that Skype 7 just looks DISGUSTING. The organization of my recent messages and contacts is downright attrocious and I can barely keep my recent replies in check.
The worst part is that I can't downgrade to a better version. After STRUGGLING to find an older version, it just tells me that Skype can't connect. Are you serious? I'm being FORCED to use this useless piece of junk? I've used a LOT of Skype (at least 5 hours a day daily since I got it.) And I think this is the last straw for me. I don't know what to do, I can't use this version, it's terrible.
The question I'm posing in this thread, is how do I use an older version of Skype. If the answer is "I don't." Then I'm uninstalling and never coming back.

I have the same problem. This morning my skype decided it was time to update itself. Even though (of course), it shouldn't even check for updates or ask me to update. Or at least these are my settings...
However, this has happened before. But before, when skype updated, I could just uninstall it and install the version that I want to (keeping an exe with the proper version always did the trick). The things is that when I tried to install my older version after uninstalling, skype installer says that servers are down. Meaning that skype has stopped working with these older versions. They are now forbidden to install (even if you find an installer somewhere and OldVersion and OldApps have stopped support for skype).
I am seriously considering forgetting about skype and using an alternative. Some people have mentioned the emoticons and the general layout of the new version that disgusts them. But I will also add that the way we used to send pictures over skype is now changed. And it's horrible! Sending a link with the shared photo is just waste of time. You'd need to open a browser, log in, open the photo and download it just so you can have it on your computer (wtf??). Adding to this is the decrease of its quality and resolution and the missing name of the picture.

Can I use older versions of unactivated iPhones in the classroom as "clickers" to use with Socrative online?

I'm curious about using unactivated iPhones in the classroom. If I can get about 20 parents to donate older version of iPhones can I use them to record video or take pictures and then plug them into the computer to download the content captured? I also want to know if there is some way to use the wifi feature in the classroom to connect to the internet and use the unactivated devices as a classroom tool for students to enter answers to questions posted in Socrative online.
As I typed that all out I realized that most likely I can not use an iPhone to access wifi and a page online but perhaps I could still use them as handheld cameras to capture moments in the classroom and download the pictures once attached to the usb cord.
Any adviace about getting unactivated iPhones in use at school would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

yeah, you can use deactivated iphones as cameras. when you plug them into the computer, the OS will ask what you want to do with the photos on the device. you will import them and they'll be editable files on the computer after that

How to restore Nano while using older version of iTunes?

I'm running itunes 7.4 on Win XP Pro without SP2. My kid went ahead and upgraded nano to 1.1.2 PC version. Now itunes doesnt see the nano and says it can not be used because it requires iTunes version 7.6. I cant upgrade PC to SP2. So how can I downgrade only nano to 1.1.1?

Using older version of Acrobat

I'm using Acrobat 4.0 on my Windows XP operating system. I'm trying to convert a MS Publisher 2003 document to PDF. The bullets show as questions marks in the converted document. How do I correct this?

I was wrong about Reader 8, it does not let you save. In fact a window pops up saying "Cannot Save data typed into this form". I need a program that will allow me to fill out the forms and save.
I've tried "Preview" with the same forms and have run into the same problem, although on my laptop, which still has OS 10.9, I can fill in and save with no problems.
So back to upgrading to Acrobat. Would Acrobat Standard Version fill and save form information or would I need Acrobat Pro? My old version is Pro, but since I rarely use the program any longer, I was wondering if I could purchase the less expensive version for something like this?
