Using onboard sound and audig

hi all
Im wondering if its possible to use my audigy 2 soundcard (model sb0240) along side my onboard sound (front ports)
strange request i know but im using software that requires a line out and a seperate line out (for headphones)
i want to use the front audio pots built into my motherboard for the headphones but the audigy card seems to disable the onboard sound
any help/ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hello, I suppose that it's almost impossible to use both the devices at the same time without conflicts. Gess you mean some dj software or alike, where usually there is?an option to assign the different lines to different outputs, but I think,?they should be always?outputs from the same sound device. For example - with some card, let's say Sound Blaster Li've 24bit external (USB, 5.), you can assign the software to use the first stereo output (front) for the main speakers (or for a link to inputs in a desk-amp-speakers) and the second one (rear) for the headphones... I'm not familiar with your card, but that's the common way... In general, I think, every card, that has at least 5. will work for this purpose, depending on the software and the possibility for assigning...

  • Onboard sound and video IRQ prob

Well I have norrowed down a prob I believe is with the sound and Video using the same IRQ.
    Both are using irq 16...
Why windows would put them on the same irq is beyond me.
Is their a way to change this?
Mobo is KT4 ultra with c-media sound
    video is geforce4 ti 4200
System keeps rebooting when in games.
I just did a fresh install and installed drivers and bleh same thing.
I also turned off plug and play in bios. which microsoft recommends.
    Any help would be great
    r00t 3:16

Well considering their is a alot of IRQ's and half of them aren't in use you would think ms would not assign a video and sound to the same irq.....
At any rate. Im not sure what games you play but most games check to see if your sound card is working before it loads.
    So that won't work.
I didn't have any problem with this system until I formated and redid everything I should of just stayed with it as it was.
Then the sound was on irq 16 and the video went to irq 128?
    Thats right 128....
I didn't have to disable APIC either.
Although I did however have plug n play support disabled in the bios.
I also installed all drivers and devices before I added the service pack.
Maybe ill just get a different sound card.
    Who knows.
But at any rate IRQ 5 is reserved for sound cards from what I read online. Unless you have a SB series they like irq's 7 or 9....
Anyways ill let everyone know what I did then.

  • Any known compatibility issues with disabling onboard sound and using

I have the K7 N2 board and disabled on board sound in the bios to use my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Sound seems to work fine in Windows Xp and the few games I have installed so far. My problem is with UT2003. When I try to launch the game I get the splash screen then it simply goes away. When I checked the system folder and looked at the debug log it shows the following.

I am able to run UT in safe mode without sound. I yanked my Santa Cruz card and uninstalled the drivers and tried with on board but still had the same problem. Since disabling the sound allows me to play, it has to do something with either the on board or my card or some sort of incompatibility between the two. Anyone know of any issues? On a side note. If I was to wipe my drive and use the on board is the quality of the sound as good as using a separate card? Any help would be appreciated.

Just a follow up...I figured I could spend countless hours trying to figure out why UT wouldn'l load or spend 3 hours wiping the disk and reinstalling software. The latter proved to be worth it. My preference would have been not to install any of the audio drivers at all, but since they are bundled with the system drivers there is really no choice.  The one thing I did differently was not to install the live drivers from the disk that came with my board  but rather update to the newer Nforce 2 system driver dated 2/25/2003.
So the install went Xp Pro, Sp1, Video drivers,  newest system drivers, disable on board sound in bios, Santa Cruz drivers then UT2003 and the game loads fine. I still get the message about the game port not having enough resources but that can be ironed out.
Hopefully this information can help someone else out who might experience conflicts going forward.
A side note..I find that with two network cards (3Com and on board) that Xp will spend about  three mintues after it loads non responsive as it looks for the other network connection. Running the network wizard on box 1 connected to the internet and creating the network disk and running it on the other machine allowing the on board card to see the network and eliminates the painful lull after Xp load to the time I can do anything.
Thanks for the timely responses. I'm really enjoying this board. So many options, so little time.

  • Need help with problem using sound and vibration examples. question repost

I am generating a wav file using the sound and vibration example vi "SVXMPL_Wav Recorder(DAQmx)" using a ni 7422 board.  Then, using the example vi SVXMPL_Getting started with SVT(Simulated)" attempting to play back that file.  the wav file will load and play back on the graphs fine but when I click the "Play Wav File" which sends the audio to the computers speaker,  I get the error "Cannot recognise sound Format".  It plays the shipped example files fine.  I can also play the wav files I generate on a Windows audio player.  Don't know a lot about the sound and vibration toolkit or wav file formats but need to get these two to work together.  Using LV 8.5 and sound and vibration toolkit 4.0.  This is a bit of a repost of the same question ask last week but not answered.  Thanks

  • Kt6v lsr and onboard sound

hello again guys. i think i managed to screw something up. i tried to connect the cables so that i have sound and 2 usb's on the case's front panel. however i don't think i made the right connection. the on board sound stopped working. the chipset is still detected and everything seems ok, pins 9,10 and 5, 6 have jumpers on them. but sound no longer works. what have i done wrong ??? can i fix it somehow ?

As far as I am aware, you cannot use front sound, and the jumpers for rear sound at the same time. What happens if you unhook the front audio cables, and keep the jumpers in place?

  • [Solved] Conflict: ATI Radeon HDMI vs onboard sound crashes PulseAudio

Firstly, please excuse my ignorance about audio issues!
I have a mate running Arch who has an ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics card (using radeon driver) and onboard sound also. He doesn't want to use the graphics card for audio purposes at all. He's getting (seemingly) random switches between PulseAudio thinking its default audio sink is the onboard sound and the graphics card. When the latter happens, PulseAudio crashes out.
(Tried setting the kernel boot parameter 'radeon.audio=1' to try and make the HDMI audio work, but to no avail. Though card is in radeon driver matrix saying HDMI audio feature should work with this card.)
Issuing these commands usually gets things up and running again:
    pulseaudio --start && pacmd set-default-sink alsa_output.xxxxx.analog-stereo
where alsa_output.xxxxx.analog-stereo is the appropriate string from the 'Default Sink' line of the ouput from the command:
    pactl stat
Tried switching the HDMI input/output off using pavucontrol but after an indeterminate time it creeps back and kills off PulseAudio.
Can the graphics card be blacklisted as a soundcard by PulseAudio or Alsa in some way?
Any ideas to resolve this most welcome!
PS: Had a look through the Arch Wiki on PulseAudio and it helped quite a bit with understanding pactl and pacmd commands.
Edit @29/01/14: Problem solved - by going deeper to kernel level!
    From the wiki:
If both devices use the same module then we can use the *enable* parameter from snd-hda-intel module, it's an array of booleans that can enable/disable the desired sound card [put in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf]:
    e.g
    options snd-hda-intel enable=1,0
    Useful commands to check situation:
    cat /proc/asound/cards
    cat /proc/asound/modules
    aplay -l

    Hi there!
If you're using the latest kernel spin (3.13), you don't have to really put that kernel parameter in your bootloader config anymore because it's enabled by default already. Which DE are you using? GNOME, GNOME Flashback, Cinnamon and Unity have all integrated with pulseaudio and no extra configuration is needed. If you're using Xfce, LXDE, KDE or any other WM/DE, you'll have to install pulseaudio-alsa and alsa-utils to get it working. That made my HDMI audio work out of the box on my ancient KDE session with the open source driver.
    I hope this helps!
    Best of Luck
    Hi,
okay I just removed the kernel option, thanks for the advice!
I'm using xfce and I already had installed pulseaudio-alsa and alsa-utils, anyway the strange thing is that before switching to headphones (on the other card) it worked, but now it seems that is dead...
    Thank you for helping!

  • K8T Neo-FIS2R onboard sound limitation?

Reading southmikes unofficial guide, it seems you can't use both onboard sound AND a PCI sound card (such as a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz).
Is this still correct with the 1.6 BIOS?  I want to use the microphone input on the motherboard, but the the TBSC for output.

It was fixed with BIOS v1.3. I use an SB Live! and the onboard sound card, too.
It was not driver dependent, the BIOS disabled the sound card that is behind the ISA bridge.

The numbers are BB:DD.FF (BB - bus number, DD - device number, FF - function or subdevice) Function number 00 means it's a main device, function numbers other than 00 with the same
bus and device number is something on or behind the main device.
With BIOS v1.2 and lower, 00:11.05 was not in the list when the SB Live! was plugged in.
The BIOS disabled the device. Or did not keep the info about it - it's almost the same since
Linux also use the PCI BIOS calls to detect the devices. I did not try "direct" mode that
talks directly to the PCI bridge.

  • Is the onboard sound better than SB live!

I been thinking of using onboard sound right now Im using a old sound blaster live! its not the 5.1   What do you guys think ? See my sig for mobo type
This is the sound chip on the mobo Realtek ALC650 it has 4 to 6 chan. and it also has a
S-bracket that has analog to digital audio outputs by intergrating both SPDIF.
Anyone here use there onboard sound? I would like to buy sometime till I can get a new soundcard I want to free up a pci slot.

Uninstall the SB Live, and all related components thru device manager, then go to control panel>add or remove programs. Remove any Creative programs related to the SB Live. Shutdown and remove the SB from the system. Upon bootup, enter BIOS, and in the "Integrated Periphrials" section, set the AC97 to enabled, and reboot.
During bootup, it should find the AC97, and ask for the drivers, cancel the prompt. Then open the folder containing the drivers, and install from there.
One thing to check while you have the case opened to remove the SB, look for the front audio header, usually "JAUD1", there needs to be 2 jumpers installed in order to direct sound to the rear audio ports. These are normally installed before the board ships, but can be left off. Never hurts to look. I believe the jumpers go on 5-6 and 9-10. Check your manual to verify. the front audio header is located at the bottom of the board, near the front. If you have no manual, click here to download one.

  • No onboard sound

Just built computer for daughter with left over upgrades. I put in a KT3 Ultra MB,  am trying to use onboard audio as I have no extra sound cards. I have tryed EVERTHING to get this to work. There is only one place in bios for onboard sound and that is "Enabled". I have installed audio drivers uninstalled and re-installed. I have checked all setting. Checked and unchecked the "enable digital audio" on both cdrw and dvd. I know thw speakers work, tryed two different sets. I get no system sounds or when I put cd in player. Like I said I have tryed everything and no luck, any ideas?? Other then payong $25 for sound card!!

    Hello,
In the manual, page 2-19 it says pins 5-6 and 9-10 (on the JAUD1 header) have to be jumpered so that audio plays through the rear jack ports.
Check the volume in windows too
And try some newer Realtek drivers.(their site is a bit slow)

  • EMI affecting onboard sound?

I'm using the KT3 Ultra-ARU's onboard sound and using headphones I can hear these sorta high pitched noises when the computer is working (resizing windows, accessing a CD or Hard Drive, etc). Is this EMI and is there any way to redue it? I already have the "Spread Spectrum" at + 0.25% . . . would any higher help or would it just make my system unstable? Would a PCI soundcard work better?
    ~Matt

The fact that you can hear interference when you operate CDrom or ask your display to change etc, suggest your fault is power supply related.
That is to say when you change the amount of current that you draw from the PSU the change is reflected back to the power supply.
This change will be picked up by the sound power supply rails and your will hear it through your headphones
To me this suggest poor earthing or earth bonding. This could also be caused by poor smoothing on the PSU itself.
In the UK it is compulsory to operate metal base equipment with an earth connection back to the mains supply connected. This is then at some point connected to the case of your PC.
All ground [DC negative rails ] are then at some point conncted to this.
What I am saying here is either you may have a poor earth/ground connection or the PSU has may have some sort of fault.
If I rememebr correctly the human ear cannot hear anything above 20khz so things like FSB frequencies should not be audible unless you are picking up a harmonic.
    Kind Regards

  • Third octave operations with "sound and vibration toolkit"

    Hi!
I’m working about third octave decomposition with a vibration signal.
I’m using the sound and vibration toolkit.
The sample frequency of my signal is 2400 Hz.
And I’m working with a 1 second vibration signal (so 2400 points).
    Fs = 2400
    N = 2400
I need to understand the different and successive operations that the “SVT Fractional-octave Analysis [IEC].vi”VI do.
In fact, I think that my frequency resolution (df = Fe/N=1Hz) is too low.
    Do you have a solution?
Maybe I could turn into my 1 sec signal in 10 sec signal with 10 recopies and assemblage of my previous signal?
    N’ = 10N so df = Fe/10N = 0.1Hz.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,
The first thing you have to do is to read the Chapter 7 of the user manual of the Sound and Vibration Toolset.
You can find it in : program -> National Instruments -> LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolset -> User Manual
This chapter discusses fractional-octave analysis, including fractional-octave analysis theory, averaging modes supported by the
Octave Analysis VIs, settling time, and ANSI and IEC standards.

  • Sound and Vibration Toolkit with NI-SCOPE AND NI-FGEN

    Hi,
I would like to use the Sound and Vibration Toolkit with the NI-FGEN and NI-SCOPE,specifically the stepped sine analysis. The stepped sine VI's are compatible with only DAQmx and not NI-SCOPE and NI-FGEN,right?
    Any way around this?

    Hi there,
Firstly I assume you mean Swept sine and not stepped!?
This is the closest thing I could find:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3347
I had a look for you and there is nothing that works with a swept sine in FGEN or SCOPE natively that we supply.  However I do believe that a lot of the functionality could be programmed in FGEN and SCOPE vi's.
You would however need to make copies of all the Swept Sine VI's and replace all DAQmx calls and property nodes with the appropriate SCOPE/FGEN vi's.
Not a short answer I'm afraid and I can't guarantee that all the functionality is going to be there.
Sorry its not a better answer.

  • How to implement a psophometric filter in Labview software without uising Sound and vibration toolkit?

Someone know the method to implement a psophometric or weighted filter in Labview software Without using Sound and Vibration Toolkit?
    Thanks

The simplest way to implement a psophometric filter is to use the Sound and Vibration toolkit.
Anyway if you don't want to purchase it, you can have a look at this forum discussion and this one.
