Using one Apple ID with two iPhones

A couple has his and her phones but only one Apple ID. They want to keep his and her music separate. They have checked the appropriate playlists for each phone, but the entire music library is on both phones. Can the music be separated in this situation?

Really appreciate this quick response. So I guess there won't be an issue to use the same id on two iPhones at the same time.

I was trying to take my Mac air to factory default settings.
I've done all that it says in the documment i was following, and them during the process it asked me the APPLE ID.
I put the apple id i have in my iphone. But it's not the one... it's said that i don't have any OSX associated with it... so it can not install the OSX.

My wife got her iPhone 4 before I got my iPhone 4s. To make things easier, I allowed her to use my Apple ID and iTunes to sync/backup her iPhone. Now that I have an iPhone 4s... I would like to keep sharing the Apple ID and its associated content (be it apps, music, etc) but I would like our contacts and other individuals items to be kept separate. What is the best solution for this situation? Ultimately I want to avoid having to make yet another iTunes account/Apple ID and because we are married we share everything already. Thanks. I was afraid it would be something like that. I bought it off my NIH grant from Apple, so there is no problem proving ownership. Since I can easily live without iPhoto and iMovie on that computer, I probably won't bother, unless it prevents me from updating the OS when 10.9 comes out. The strange thing is I can update stuff like Xcode (which I absolutely need) without a problem. It appears to be just the apps that Apple both sells and provides with a new computer

Yes you can, iTunes will identify your phone by serial number and phone number.
Best if you can to set different name to your phone under SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT/Name and to name like e.g. iphone3G and the other iPhone 4s.
So everytime you sync, itunes will backup your phone's contents and data and you will be able to identify from the backup files correctly in future.

Here's the deal: The SLA permits the "sharing" of content with up to 5 family members in the same household. Any other distribution of content is considered stealing...the SLA does not give you the right to distribute content in any way, shape or form. Its really that simple, and "friend" is NOT a family member living in the same household.

Synching ONE MobileMe calendar with TWO iphones

I keep reading that it's possible to synch a MobileMe calendar with TWO iphones but cannot find out HOW to do so. I presume that SHARING a calendar is different from SYNCHRONISING a calendar. Sharing a calendar seems to me to be cumbersome in that it involves sending an invitation which then must be specifically dealt with by the recipient. SYNCHRONISING a calendar though presumably means updating a calendar entry automatically. It works with one iphone. How can it be made to work with two iphones? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I need help in how to sync the one itunes account we use as a family with the two iphones my wife and i have and an ipod touch that my son has and a nano that my daughter has. Please help.

That article applies, as far as I can tell, to all things called iPod X where X can be nano, touch, classic etc.
We don't have two iPhones in the family as yet but as I understand it each device can have separate settings for syncing calendars and contacts. For example my iPhone syncs these over the air with the Exchange server at work so if/when my wife gets an iPhone it would be easy to have hers sync to our computer
To make sure your apps don't inadvertently merge turn off Automatically sync new apps from the apps tab when you connect your device.
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways for managing the media content. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

There's no tip that I am aware of. There are two ways to use the same Apple ID on different phones. First, on each phone you can just select or deslect the way that phone receives messages in Settings/Messages. But the better way is to create a new Apple ID and use it just for iMessage. Leave the phones sharing an Apple ID for the stores and content, but in Settings/Messages log out of that ID on one of the phones, and log in with a new Apple ID just for iMessages on that phone.

Philly_Phan is absolutely right if you intend to be the primary user of both devices. Is that the case or will one of the devices be used by someone else with whom you want to communicate over Facetime and iMessage?
