Using Open Tools

Hi All,
Has anyone developed any open tools in ODI?
Can these open tools be used to create any tool that can be used inside an interfce?
According to the documentation the open tools are used only in ODI packages
I wanted to develop a functionality where I want to do a union of 3 data sources.......Is it possible for me to create an open tool called UNION and then use it in my interface in place of joind between data sources?

I dont think so!!!
I have developed Open tools but I just useed them into Package!!!
But open tool could be called within a KM...
To do an union... you should create a view and the reverse the view as a datastore and use it into your innterface...

Sorry, I am new to the type of problem-solution process and I do not know how to edit my first statement. My true statement is below:
My pdf freezes when I click on COMMENT. I am trying to get at the tools to edit a pdf. If I use the tools from the toolbar, there is no issue, but once I click COMMENT, the document freezes and I have to open Task Manager to crash it. This started in the last seven days (3.31.15).

I answered your questions below, BUT while I was searching for properties, I found the REPAIR ACROBAT INSTALLATION feature, did the repair and (Voila!) the issue was resolved!

I am using Acrobat XI Pro, version 11.0.10.32.
I did not create the file I was working in during the freezes, so I tried a PDF that I created with Adobe and it also freezes when I click on COMMENT. I did discover that the COMMENTS plug-in is loaded. (see image
I have used COMMENT for years without this issue occurring. It started in the last 2 weeks.
I could not find Properties under the file menu, but found a security setting in Preferences under the Edit menu. It did not have a way to allow/disallow COMMENT.

Can I use ACR tools in an image already opened in PS5?

If I have opened a RAW image in PS5.5 and it has several layers already modifying the file, can I convert the bottom layer to a smart object and then use ACR tools like de-fringing, etc.? I notice flaws in the image that would be corrected that way, and I don't want to start from scratch. I am able to make the layer a smart object. I don't know how to invoke the ACR tools.
This image arrived from Lightroom with "no Lightroom effects" chosen at transfer, if that makes any difference.

If you open a RAW file through lightroom there may be a way have Photoshop open it as a smart Object I do no know I do not use Lightroom. If you open the Raw file through the Bridge or Photoshop in ACR which is a Photoshop plug-in ACR can open it as a Smart Object layer in Photoshop where the embedded object is a copy of the RAW file and Adobe RAW conversion engine settings. Embedded object can be reopened. If the embeded is a RAW File it will open in ACR. If the embedded object is a Tiff or Jpeg file it can be openned in ACR or Phptoshop. If the embedded object is a raster layer or a grout pf layers that have been converted into a smart object these smart object can be opened in Photoshop. When a Smart Obkect is reopen in ACR or Photoshop it opens as a temporay work document the when changes are made and committen by ACR or Photoshop the original reopened smart object will be upstare with the changes made to the work document .
If you open the RAW file through Lightroom or ACR into Phoroshop as a RGB image a background layer its a raster layer converted to a smart opject it would not open in ACR. However there is a Photoshop Script you can Download from Russell Brows web site that you could run with the Background Layer the active Photoshop target. The Script would save the Active layer as a Tiff file and then Place the tiff file into the current document as a smart object layer where the active layer is. This Placed Smart Object layer contains a copy of a tiff file that was saved using the active layer after the place operation the Tiff file and the old active(ie background image) layer are deleted. If your ACR preferences are set to open Tiff files doubling click on the smart object icon in that layer in the layers palette will open the Tiff in ACR.

If you use a trackpad and don't want to switch to a mouse, you can uninstall and reinstall all day long and will still have problems, but if you really want to try it, you can download PSE 12 here:

Unless you've tried to install an older version of iTunes that message likely indicates a corrupt library file. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash...

Pdf file designed using IREPORT tool. when i preview in adobe reader bold fonts displaying correctly,but same file in mozilla adobe plugin displays fonts unbold

I have designed a report using IReport tool with some text as BOLD, which generates report in PDF format. when i open the file with Adobe Reader IX it opens perfectly.
but the problem is when i open the same file in mozilla add-on "Adobe Reader 11.0.3.37" and in previous versions it does not displaying the bold fonts.

Is there a non-confidential example of this PDF that we could view?

I am new to Oracle. After installing Oracle 10g I tried to run it but I had Directory Server Connection window popup. It said "To use this tool you must first connect to server. Click on the OK button to select a server". I did not see any server I could choose. And also during installation I had warning or error message but I chose to continue installing.
Please help me to get this fix....

Logging with whereabouts using open source and freeware
The purpose of logging is to find out what had happened when needed. When the
time comes to read log messages, you want to know both the log message and its
whereabouts (class name, method name, file name and line number). So you need
to hard code whereabouts.
But hard coded whereabouts are very difficult to maintain: when you modify your
source code, line number changes; when you copy and paste a line, its class name
and method name change. If whereabouts are wrong, you introduce bugs in your logging
logic and the log messages are useless at the best.
This article shows you an example of using freeware Redress tool to rectify whereabouts
programmatically in your Makefile or Ant build file. So your whereabouts are always
correct for both Java and JSP source file.
Redress tool is part of SuperLogging at http://www.ACElet.com. SuperLogging also
provides an open source wrapper Alog.java, which redirects log method calls to
your favorite logging package. Redress tool can rectify whereabouts information
on all Alog's method calls in your application. So, if you call Alog's log methods,
these calls will be rectified by Redress.
JDK 1.4 introduces a new utility package java.util.logging. The example in this
article is based on JDK logging. Log4J is a cousin of JDK logging. Log4J users
should have no difficulties to modify this example for Log4J. Both JDK logging
and Log4J are excellent logging software for single JVM.
Note: Redress tool rectifies method calls on Alog, not JDK logging. You need to
call Alog instead of JDK logging in your application.

Exception when opening tools - prefereces

Hi-
I just downloaded JDeveloper 9.0.3.1035 for Win 2000. Pointed it at a JDK 1.3.1, and ran the ojvm installer. When I try to open tools -> preferences, I get an error dialog with the following exception (below). Tried other JVMs without success. Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions? This kind of makes the IDE unusable, as I can't customize it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am having the same, exact problem. I only replied to, hopefully, provide some additional data points. I am using j2se 1.4.1 on both a M$ XP box and a Solaris/sparc box. Both have jdev 9.03 running. On the Sun box I have no problems pulling up the tools->preferences menu item, but this does not work on window$.

ODI Open Tools only Java 1.4?

Hi everyone,
I just wrote an Open Tool für the ODI for dynamic/generic webservice invocation via WSDL. The parser of the ODIInvokeWebservice just didnt work for all the WSDL from other systems. The only problem currently is that when importing the Tool into the ODI Developer i get a java version exception (java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: ...(Unsupported major.minor version 50.0)). I compiled the project in java 6.
I tried other projects and realised, that only Open Tools with a compliance level of 1.4 or lower are accepted. I am currently working with ODI 10g. I found no where any hint about which Version is supported in 11g or if it is possible to migrate the ODI OpenTools to 1.6.
Is there a possibility to run Open Tools with Java 1.5 or above?

Hi Alex,
Are you running ODI from a server install, or from your desktop? The reason I ask is that you must make sure that the java versions are the same for both, and they exists in the CLASSPATH. I have used java6 to compile the *.java file into a class, and created a *.jar file for the container and imported the ODI Open Tool into ODI Designer with no issues.
One problem you will find, which may change your way of thinking altogether, is that if you are planning to import your new Open Tool into an ODI execution only repository(which you have to do to use it), then you can't in ODI version 10. I believe this has been fixed in ODI 11g, but I had to rewrite my Open tool into a normal java application, then create an ODI procedure that calls the java Method, passing in the required parameters.

I assume you was using OpenXML SDK and I'm afraid we are not able to find the root cause according to your description, would you mind sharing us some code sample to reproduce this issue.

As far as I know, there is no auto fit property for columns in excel with openxml. I am afraid that you need to calculate the column width depending on the cell contents, and then set the column width. The link below shows more details:

When opening tools on adobe reader, blank error box appears

When opening tools on adobe reader with my laptop, a blank error box appears
After clicking ok everything seems to work
I have tried rebooting, uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting....still shows up. I have another laptop that has the same adobe version and when I open tools in adobe reader on that laptop it works fine,
Does anyone have a solution (other than NOT to use tools)???
