Using Oracle on Internet

I am a system developer and want to know where I can found informations about using Oracle on Internet.
I think I must have a DB Server located in any ISP, and users can access this DB by WWW.
The point is: What are the main differences between installing Oracle Client-Server and Oracle on Internet.
Thank you,

You can follow this link for the simplest example in Java to develop a simple web application in a local server. Later if you need to develop the website with enhanced features then you can use frameworks like spring, struts, etc and ORMs like Hibernate, etc.
If you want to host a website on the Internet, probably you can google it you'll find a lot of links. One I found for you it is free hosting. Check this link

We are using Oracle ERP in our company which is a web based ERP system. I am using firefox to work in ERP for convinieince pf working and using internet at the same time. This requires a plugin provided by oracle oajinit.exe to be installed in Plugins it is a JAVA plugin which opens the ERP Screens. This works fine in versions prior to 3.6 version of firefox. However, after upgrading to 3.6 version the forms do not open and firefox crashes. Due to this i am not able to upgrade to the latest version else i'll have to operate the ERP in internet explorer and using firefox for browsing which i do not want. The plugin used for the ERP is "* JInitiator 1.3.1.18 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)"

Firefox 3.6 needs the Java Second Generation Plugin which comes with newer versions than 1.6.0_03 - update Java, the latest version is 1.6.0_22

  • Using Oracle Software Illegally

Before i start, i just want all of you guys to know i have no intention of using Oracle Software illegaly.
Anyone can download Oracle 10g Software from Oracle's website. Right?
Lets say we have a Company and we need Oracle Database software to run our business. What if our company chooses not to pay a single penny to Oracle corporation and use the oracle software which we've downloaded by hiring an expert DBA. Will Oracle Corporation, ever be able to know that we are using Oracle Database software without paying the licence unless we seek technical Support from Oracle.
Will the freely downloaded Oracle Software work for multi-CPU machines?

In general, yes, once you get past the "prototype" phase, you need to license all your environments. What, exactly, defines the end of a "prototype" phase is obviously a bit sticky, but if you have a "production" environment, that almost always means that the development environment needs to be licensed.
Of course, any licensing questions should really be directed to Oracle Sales, who are the only ones that can provide a binding agreement. There may be wrinkles here based on the laws in your country, your existing licensing agreements, your relationship with Oracle, your particular business model, etc. Should you get caught in a disagreement about licensing, explaining that "some guy on the internet" (whether or not he has a playing card next to his name) told you that something was acceptable is not likely to go over well.

  • Using Oracle Portal in a Laptop

I have a stand-alone portal installation in my laptop. I would like to take the laptop elsewhere to demonstrate a portal I've created, but when I turn off the connection to the Internet I can't connect to the portal. Does anyone know a work around this problem?
I am using Oracle 8i (8.1.7.1.1) Enterprise Edition Database, Oracle 9iAS Portal (1.0.2.2.0) and Oracle 8i (8.1.7.1.1) Patch with Microsoft Internet Explorer as the web interface and Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system.

  • Set Desname for PDF using Oracle Applications

We are running Oracle Applications 11i, 8i database on a Unix box and use windows 2000, internet explorer, acrobat 6.0 to run, and view the reports.
I just finished redesigning a Oracle report to output to PDF instead of printing on a preprinted form.
The user has requested that the output file (Report) be saved to a specific directory on a server that is on the windows platform.
The report is being run from the concurrent manager inside of Oracle Applications, which seems to be over writing my desname that is specified in my report (rdf). Our current workaround is that the user opens the file in acrobat and save it to the desired directory, which they have to set manually for each session.
Is there a way to run a report on UNIX and output the report to a windows directory?
    Thanks in advance...

There is a better workaround than opening an saving on desktop...I have never tried this but have an idea...that would work 100%.
The standard configuration of apps 11i is that the output file is placed in $APPLCSF/out and its on the Unix Box...but if u have apps running on NT environemnt then just share the file system of $APPLCSF with the desktop...Pretty simple....
If apps is running on Unix then u need to install software like Samba on Unix so that the desktop will be able to share the file system of unix on desktop....
    Try it out...

  • Issue Running a Dashboard on iPad using Oracle BI Mobile App 11.1.1.5

    Hi All,
I have an Oracle BI dashboard (11g) which I'm trying to access through an iPad. I have Oracle Business Intelligence Mobile App (version 11.1.1.5) installed on the iPad and the version of the Oracle BI EE Server is 11.1.1.6.0
    Functionality of the Dashboard
    =============================
The dashboard consists of 15 tabs. The first tab is an Overview tab from where a user is required to select the value for a scenario. Once the user selects a particular scenario and clicks on Apply button the charts on the Overview tab, as well as the data for all other tabs gets generated and the user can select different tabs and view their data.
    Results Obtained (till now)
    ================
The above Dashboard is working perfectly fine when tested on
    i. Internet Explorer
ii. Apple iPhone & iPad - Safari Browser
ii iPhone - Oracle Business Intelligence Mobile App
Problem Running the Dashboard on iPad ( using Oracle Business Intelligence Mobile App)
    ============================================================
When I open the Dashobard, the initial Overview tab appears. As soon as I select a Scenario and click on Apply button, the Overview tab gets generated perfectly fine but the drop down list for selecting the other related reports (tabs) stops appearing.
The Refresh, Properties, Mobile/ Original Layout and Favorites icon on iPad screen all stop functioning.
However, if I do not select a Scenario in the Overview tab and simply click on the dropdown I'm able to view and select from the list of other available reports (tabs) in the Dashboard. The other tabs open up but do not display any components which completely or partially depend on the scenario chosen on the Overview page. Only the components which are independent of Scenario selection appear on the other tabs.
Selecting the Scenario in the Overview tab and applying it is a mandate for getting results on other reports (tabs) but once this is done then the complete navigation stops as explained above.
The same Dashboard is however working perfectly fine with the same App on iPhone.
If anyone has any idea about how to resolve this issue, Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jyoti

  • Problems using Oracle Directory

    Hi all
I have the following problem using 9i: I would like to use oracle internet directory to register my db's. I am currently reading the online handbooks and found a section that says to start the directory by using the 'oidmon' and 'oidctl' commands. The problem is that I cannot find these tools anywhere on the server, altough i am pretty sure i intalled anything important. is this a separate product? I thought it was included in 9i 9.2?
    Anyone?
    Cheers,

    Hi.
Hmm, your shared lib path appears to be ok. What version of Solaris are you running? Also what JDK version are you using (I'll assume you are using the one that installed with WLS)?
You might also try posting this to the weblogic.developer.interest.jdbc newsgroup.

    Hi
During installation wizard asked you about password for SYS and SYSTEM user, you had to set it. If you forgot you can loggin to ORACLE via SQL plus without password:
    c:\>SQLPLUS / sys as sysdba
after connect you can set new password for any user, for example (SYSTEM user):
    ALTER USER SYSTEM identified by NEW_PASSWORD;
After this you can login to APEX (Internet enviroment)
Remember Oracle it's not only Internet frontend, it's huge tools with many functions. If you need study Oracle you need many time and zest but it is worth-while.
Yes Oracle XE is free (read licence agreement).

Since this is an applet, your Database and listener should be in the same machine as the web server. If you can't do that, you should use connection manager which has to be on the same machine as the webserver and the Database can be anywhere.
You can verify your application by first running your code as an application before you try the applet.

  • How use oracle forms with oracle database  in a local computer network(client -server homogenious network)

    Hello experts,
I am new in Oracle forms.I am using oracle forms 11g with weblogic server 10.3.5 and oracle database 11g at windows 7 platform.
I want to call my oracle forms(main  login form) from different computers(windows7) connected in a local network. My oracle database is installed in a server computer.I am not talking about oracle forms hosting in internet.I want to deploy oracle forms in a local computer network connected via LAN cable or wi-fi.
    thank You.
    regards
    aaditya

In most cases you can copy the same entry found in the tnsnames.ora file used by the database.  In the database home, the file can be found in \network\admin.  Open the file and you should find something like this:
    yourAlias =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.0.100)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
So in the above, you would need to set the alias (this can be anything you like), the IP address or hostname of the machine where the database is running, the port number used by the db listener, and the service name used by the db.  Most of this will already be set for you if you are copying from the database tnsnames.ora.  So you should be able to just copy and paste.  More information about the tnsnames.ora file can be found in the db documentation:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28317/tnsnames.htm
