Using Organiser with Apple TV?

I am trying to use Elements 4 Organiser to filter photos to view via Apple TV. Currently, the only way I can view my selected photos/tags is to hide every photo in the organiser, select those I want, and then "unhide" the selection I want to view. This is rather cumbersome and I wondered if there was an easier way? If I don't hide photos in organiser, regardless of tags selected, the Apple TV streams the whole collection.

You can control which photos get synced with your Apple TV by putting them into PSE 4 collections, and then in iTunes on the Apple TV > Photos tab, selecting the collections (called "albums" there, I think) you want to sync:

I never used that feature with PSE 4, but I've tried it with PSE 5, 6, and 7, and it was always a little flaky for me -- collections/albums didn't show up in the iTunes options reliably and didn't get reliably synced. So now I keep a folder Pictures\AppleTV and I set iTunes to sync photos from that folder. When I have pics in PSE I want to view, I select them in the Organizer and do File > Export to a subfolder of Pictures\AppleTV, selecting an export resolution of 1600 x 1200 so that they are smaller and sync faster.

I have follow trouble shooting , they recommend to go system preference -> display , thus can find out the mirroring icon if no mean it doesnt support. But according to the web, Early 2011 MBP should be able to use, dunno why.

Just realise I havent updated my OS to mountain lion and this is the reason why I cannot use mirroring before ^^

Apple TV 1st generation cannot use AirTunes with Apple TV 2nd generation or Airport express 2nd generation

Is it normal that Apple TV 1st generation cannot use AirTunes with Apple TV 2nd generation or Airport express 2nd generation? I want to play music synced in my ATV 1st gen. to a nymber of speakers in the house. In the list of speakers I can see Apple TV itself and my two Airport Expresses 1st generation but not my Apple TV 2nd generation or my Airport express 2nd generation. For the ATV 2nd gen. I found a solution: when I enable the Airplay setting of XBMC which is installed on my ATV 2nd generation, then AirTunes in ATV 1st gen. sees the speaker "XBMS (Apple-TV)". Itunes can in my Macbook pro can use Airplay with all my speakers, i.e. ATV 1st gen., ATV 2nd gen., Airport Express 1st gen., Airport Express 2nd gen.

Last time I checked ATV1 could not use Airtunes to send audio to an AppleTV 2 or 3 - highly annoying as you think they would have kept backwards compatibiility for audio, but it seems Airplay is more than a superset of Airtunes.

Is it possible to use the AirPlay feature on an iPad with Apple TV without being connected to the internet via wifi?
I'm thinking about getting my mom an iPad for X-mas later this year so that she can help some of her visually impared students. She has always wanted a good visual aid for all of her students and I figure that this would be the best solution. The only problem is that I'm not sure if she would have access to the school's wifi connection.
I would normally suggest that she use the HDMI adapter but the projector in her classroom is mounted on the ceiling and it would be a bit of a hassle to have to disconnect the cable every time so that the kids wouldnt play with it. So I figure if she can stream her content on her future iPad to the Apple TV wirelessly, she would be able to achieve what she has always wanted to do. I dont think she will be streaming anything to the Apple TV like youtube or anything like that but it would be a nice tool to have in the event that she wants to present something to her kids wirelessly from her iPad.

Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.

my TV does support HDMI so i can use my apple tv on my HDTV. only my audio is being played on my internal speakers of my HDTV. I do have a set of speakers. but it doesn't support optical audio out. so i was wondering if its possible to use an Airport Express en plug my speakers in there. then wirelessly send the audio from my apple tv to my Airport/speakers. do any of you think that thats possible?? cause i really can't find another way to transfer my audio to my speakers...

How to use receiver with Apple TV - easy?

So I am looking to buy a receiver for my home theater. I already own an Apple TV (not used it yet). I do see that there are receivers that come with Airplay already installed. So pardon a bit of ignorance here, since I have Apply TV - I would *not* need to get a receiver that already has Airplay. I can get a normal receiver, and use Apple TV to stream my music via my receiver, as well as show video content on my TV (while audio plays through the receiver), correct? And this is fairly straight forward to setup? Thanks!!!

You could still get an airplay receiver and stream the audio wirelessly but they tend to be more expensive. Otherwise just get one of the others and you can connect via the optical port on ATV

I want to use mirroring from my macbook pro onto my apple TV but I cannot find the airplay icon/app on either my macbook or my iphone 4S, what do I need to do to get started with mirroring. I cannot figure this out from the online user guides and discussions that I have read. Any suggestions?

Disregard...just realized I need to buy an appletv 2 in order to do mirroring.....that really *****!
I like the 1st gen and really didn't need to upgrade to a new one.
If there is some other way to do mirroring from my ipad2, please let me know before I drop more $$ on Apple product.

Forced to use Airplay with Apple tv

I just bought a new Retina MBP 15 inch, and since I got it with the educational discount promotion, I also got an Apple Store gift card. And with which I redeemed an Apple tv. At first having an Apple tv is an invaluable addition to making my whole house much more connected. But now it's simply more and more frustrating.
Basically I was trying to watch a video on YouTube last night on my Retina MBP using a pair of headphone, and for some reason no audio came through and the sound controls became incredibly unresponsive. I later figured it out that it's because my computer had selected Airplay as the audio output device. However for some reason, I can't seem to change that. I've just been trying to use the built in speakers on the Retina MBP to try to play some music from iTunes, however, when ever the system tries to play any sort of music, or any sound in that matter, the output device will just get switched to Airplay, which is the Apple tv, and I can't get my computer to play any sound through the built in speaker.
This is solved only when either I turned off wifi on my Retina MBP, which cuts off the connection to the Apple tv, or I unplug the power cable on the Apple tv all together to prevent it from waking up and connecting with my MPB.
This is extremely frustration if anyone has a viable solution to this problem it would be a LIFE SAVER. So THANK YOU in advance! (you can see the level of frustration here with the capital letter)
