Using Organizer on Two Computers

If I have Photoshop Elements installed on two computers (home and laptop), is it possible to store the organizer files and the photograph files on a portable drive so that I can use them with both computers?  If so, how do you set the organizer files location to use the portable drive?  Thanks in advance, AG

On one computer, you would have to move the photos and catalog to the external hard drive, using Organizer commands (not Windows or Mac Finder).
Go to Folder Location View, and then drag all of your folders to the external hard drive. You can drag the top level folder and all folders under it will also move. If the external HD doesn't show in Folder Location View, then you might need to place a dummy photo on your external HD and import it into PSE.
Next, you need to move the catalog file and all files in that folder to the external HD. You would find your catalog file using the Organizer command Help->System Info. Then do the move to the External HD, and double-click on the catalog file on the external HD. Exit from PSE.
Next, connect the external HD to the other computer, and double-click on the catalog file on the external HD.
Depending on what version of PSE, you may need to make sure that the external HD has the exact same letter on each computer.
From this point on, please be sure to use the catalog file and photos on the external HD. If you open the other catalog files, you will get confused.

  • Can I put my library on an external hard drive and use it between two computers?

Can I put my library on an external hard drive and use it between two computers? I have two MBP; I will refer to one as computer A and to the other as computer B. I would like to be able to plug in my external hard drive, boot up iTunes, and if there were any changes made to the library previous to its last time accessed on this compluter, they show up on that computer, regardless of being imported on the other.
A hypothetical example: I import three albums called 1, 2, and 3 on computer A over a week or so. I take the external hard drive and plug it into computer B. The entire library which was visible on A, is visible on B, including albums 1, 2, and 3.
Is this possible? If so, what files need to be copied onto the external? I'm trying some different combinations, trial and error basically. Hopefully someone knows and can answer before I mess up my library. I also want to do this to free up space on my computer. All importing will be done from disc.

iTunes/Preferences/Advanced : point your iTunes to the new location of the Library.
Set "Share on local network" in the Sharing tab, and you or everyone on the local network can play your music.
You make a backup first of the Library.
Move the follwing to the new location:
    /Users/your username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
    have fun.

  • Using iPhone with two computers

    Home PC - MacBook Pro
    Work PC - Windows
    both running iTunes 7.7
My music is on my home Mac and I manually create playlists, add music etc.
With my 3G Nano, I can connect and listen to songs on my iPod from my work PC. I can't seem to do this with my iPhone - my PC sees the iPhone but all of the music is greyed out and cannot be selected.
Is it a limitation of the iPhone that I cannot use it with two computers in this way, or is it a configuration issue?
I would prefer not to have to buy a set of external speakers just to use my iPhone to play music at work.
    thanks
    Shane

Actually, there are several articles on the web about the fact that you CAN
synch the itunes with two computers. Music, Video, and Ringtones can be done from one computer, and Mail, Contacts, etc. can be done from a second computer.
Just do a Yahoo search on "synching iPhone with two computers."
If you are trying to do music from two computers, you are right, that will not work. There is a program, which I think the Yahoo search above will also uncover that allows you to do a "swap," where you can have the songs from one computer show up on the iPhone, and when you swap, the songs from the other computer show up. I am not sure if this utility survived the upgrage to version 2.0 of the softweare.

  • [HELP] I use Skype from two computers and i notice...

Sorry for reposting this topic, but it didn't appear on the forum.
    Hey there.
I use skype from two computers.
Last week i blocked a contanct from computer1 and yesterday i unblocked it from the same computer.
So i noticed that after i unblocked this contact, it still appears at my homepage with his picture, info and everything, BUT only from computer1.
When i use computer2, this contact appears at my contacts, but only with his skype name (the one he uses to log in) and not with his display name. Also, i can't see his picture or any other information. It just appears offline, with his log-in name and with no picture. That's all.
So what's going on? Why can i see everything normally from computer1 but not from computer2?
P.S.1 99% he blocked me too, but i have no idea whether he unblocked me or not.
P.S.2 I know my english is horrible, sorry for that.

I downloaded throught Adobe the Elements 13 two be utilized in two computers, one PC at home and one Mac Laptop, as I did always in the old versios. Someone knows if I buy the CD can be used in the two computeres?

The serial number for the version purchased on cd can be used for two installations: Mac and PC or Mac and Mac or PC and PC.
The serial number for the downloaded version can be used only on two PCs or 2 Macs (generally), depending upon the version purchased.

  • One again, "can I use CC on two computers at the same time?" - in practice.

I know this has been asked before and all those threads are locked. Many asked the question, but I haven't found a satisfying answer yet.
Can I multi task with CC?
I want to have my laptop next to my desktop. And while I render, export or whatever my newly shot documentary on the laptop I want to work with a music video project on my desktop. Then when the render is finished I render the music video and go back to the laptop and continue on the documentary. Or maybe I just work 5 minutes on the desktop music video, then come up with something brilliant for the project on the laptop and switch. Back and forth. Will that kind of activity result in any kind of limitation, usage-wise?
So, working on Premiere on my two computers at the same time.. is it possible? Technically? I know the EULA says "only one person". But will it let one person mutli task?
I need to know this before I buy. sorry for asking this again, please bless me with a clear answer

    Hi Jimmy Crim,
Yes in case of Creative cloud subscription you are allowed to install and use the cc apps in any two machines.
Even if you want you care allowed to use these apps together in both the machines.
    Thanks

  • Can I use Lightroom on two computers?

Can I use the same Lightroom software on both of my computers?

The license stipulates that you can install Lightroom on two computers under the condition that only one installation is being used at any given time. Lightroom does not have an activation feature, so there is no way to police your activity. The serial number is also cross-platform, meaning that you can install it on a Windows machine and a Mac.

  • Using PalmVx with two computers

I have been using a PalmVx with my Desktop computer (WIN XP Prof) and also with my laptop (WIN XP Prof). I recently formatted the HDD of my laptop and have re-installed my palmOne software ver 4.1.4 on my laptop. While installing the palmOne software in my laptop when asked for <User Name> I gave the same Username as in my desktop computer. So now my laptop indicates the identical Username as my desktop computer.
My desktop computer is connected to the palm cradle using a serial connection while my laptop is connected through a Serial-to-USB adaptor to a USB port on my laptop.
I need to have all my data in my PalmVx transferred to my laptop, so I set all the conduits in my laptop to "Handheld overwrites Desktop" and carried out a Hotsync.
The Hotsync dialog that comes up on the laptop shows a UserName <blank> instead of the Username that I set (similar to the desktop).
Please advise how I can get all my data currently on my desktop and in my handheld into my laptop?
    TIA

  • Using itunes with two computers

I use two computers, one in my lounge and one in my bedroom. Both the itunes version are 5.01 and work well. However I am unable to add songs easily to both itunes libaries at the same time. How can I keep both libaries up to date? For example I buy tunes from itunes in my bedroom and then have to add them indivually with the computer in the lounge? Windows Media can see new tunes apear is there a way itunes can do the same?
Thanks , any help would be greatly appreciated

    hi Anthony!
as far as i'm aware (but i'm not up-to-date on research on this topic at the moment), there isn't an automatic way of keeping the two libraries aligned. this document might be useful:

  • Using FCPX on two computers

I have an iMac 27" that's a few years old running 10.6.8-- just before Thunderbolt came out unfortunately-- and also a MacBookPro (which does have Thunderbolt).  While I do most of my editing on the iMac, I might need to use the MBP to tweak things for clients while I'm away from the studio.  I am mostly a stills shooter, and I'm still learning the vagaries of video editing.  Just took a nice little course in FCP10, had previously been using FCX (X as in "Express") and Premier.  I just purchased FCP10 toady.
I am hoping that as with FCX, I will be able to use FCP10 on both computers without buying two versions.  That was allowable as long as it was not being used on two computers at the same time.  Can someone please confirm that this is the case?
Also, I am planning on using a 128GB USB thumb drive to carry the work between the two computers for a project I am currently working on.  It's USB 2.0, and I know that's not optimal as far as speed is concerned, but since all of the final videos I'll be creating for the project are under four minutes, I'm hoping that won't be a horrible problem, just a mildly frustrating one.
At the class I took, we grabbed a disk image off of the network drive to use on the local computer, then put it back at the end of the class.  Will something like that work with the USB dongle between the iMac and MBP?  Many thanks for all info.  -JB

You can use Final Cut Pro X on two computers, all you have to do is on the second computer, login to the Mac App store with the account you purchased the first one.
I'm on 10.6.8 and I recently moved from FCEx to FCPX (I prefer these abbreviations), and had to learn everything all over again, FCPX is nothing at all like any previous version of FCP, so you will have a learning curve, but having said that, FCPX is far better than FCEx.
Moving the folders from the flash drive to the computer each time would work. The general consensus is to have your Event and Project folders on a fast external drive, just so you can move it to any computer you wish, no need to copy folders back and forth from internal and external drives, FCPX recognizes those folders on any drive automatically, just be sure to back up the external drive. BTW, you must create Event and Project folders and move them from one drive to another within FCPX (which you might already know).
The USB 2.0 flash drive is excrutiatingly slow. I'd buy a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter for the MacBook Pro, then use an external Firewire drive to move between the two computers.

  • Using certificates on two computers

I work on two computers (work  and home). Can I use development, distribution and push certificates created from either computer when building, downloading and submitting apps for iTunes? I work with the professional edition of DPS.
    Thanks

It could be a problem when any one of your certificates has been created using a different name or computer. It would not be possible to upload binary/distribution-viewer.zip (built from Viewer Builder) signed with a distribution certificate created on a different computer). Viewer Builder does not have any problem building the app, but you will get error while submitting binary to Apple.
When you create certificate request in the keychain tool. This  creates the private key and is stored deep in your user profile on the  machine.
In this case, "The  Keychain account should be the same for all of your certificates. Also  make sure that iCloud has not been enabled for the application."

  • Using itunes on two computers??

i have most of my music on one computer thats not a lap top and i had some of my music on my other computer... well i opened itunes tonight and evidently it was all lost so is there a way to connect the two computers together through itunes or something rather then sending music by email because that takes a long time.

is there a way to connect the two computers together
You mean like say a computer network? Yes but this is not really the appropriate forum to get help with that. If you do not have a hub/router and need to plug the two into each other you will need a cross over network cable. Once they are connected there is any number of ways to move the files. Setting up file sharing is probably the easiest.
You could also just burn the songs to DVD, if they will fit and move them that way.

  • Using Shuffle with two computers

Is there a way to have songs on my shuffle from two different computers? When I plug into a new computer, it asks me if I want to relpace the songs on my ipod. I don't I just want to add a few songs from another computer. Is there a way to do this?

No there isn't not to listen the songs on the shuffle.
Now you can use it as a disk drive on two computers

  • Using iTunes on two computers from external drive

I have my itunes on an external drive and would like to use it on both my laptop and my home PC (both are Windows XP). My laptop is what I have used consistently in the past without issue, but am having trouble opening it on my PC. Thoughts?

That might be a problem coz the library saves the full path of the files, so unless the drive is seen on the 2 computers by the same drive letter, that might not be possible UNLESS u have 2 libraries for each windows.
U could share the library on ur network at home, just enable library sharing in ur prefrences, connect it to one & play it on both at the same time
    I hope that helps
