Using original power adaptor with new iPod Nano

Hi all,
I was wondering whether it's possible to use my new iPod Nano (3rd Gen) with the old USB Apple power adaptor from my first generation iPod Nano.
Thanks in advance,
Stu

Does this hold true for old FireWire power adapters for old iPods as well? I have an iPod Nano (3Gen), along with the USB cable that was included when purchased, but no power adapter was included. I'd really like to use an old FireWire cable and adapter from an older iPod model with this new Nano, so I can charge it when I'm away from my computer. (more importantly, I don't want to have to go and buy ANOTHER power adapter with a USB connection...)

  • Can an old iPod classic charger brick be used with new iPod nano?

I have an Apple  ModelA1102 W005A050 wall charger. I came with the iPod I purchased in 2005.
Can it be used to charge the new iPod nano I just purchased?
    Thanks.

Yes so long as it has a USB connection on it.

  • BMW car adapter problems with new iPOD nano

    Hi,
I recently swapped my iPOD nano to the new model. I used the old one as "CD-changer" in my BMW 3-series with the original Apple BMW iPod Adapter.
    Worked really great.
With the new iPOD nano the interface does not work any more properly:
    - the iPOD is not turned off when the car radio is swtiched off.
    - the iPOD is not charged any more through the interface
    - once connected through the interface, the display is turned on (full white) and remains on! You could use it as a flashlight. The batteries are empty through this after max. 3 hours.
Means: If you forget to switch off the iPOD manually after the journey, it will be dead when you come back.
I updated already to latest firmware 1.0.2, no diference.
Apple has no contact to call.
BMW does not know anything and cannot help.
Anyone an idea whom to contact or how to overcome?
    Thank you,
    JJer

Mine finally got fixed at the MINI dealership! At first they kept telling me to update my ipod firmware but 2 firmware updates later (I'm up to 1.1 now) it still did not work). I finally convinced them to take a look at it. They were able to reproduce the same thing I saw, where my ipod worked on their cars, and their ipods worked on my car. That seemed to show that the connector and cables were ok, but they ordered a whole extra kit anyway just to try it out. After they got the new kit, they found out that though the cables were ok, they had to replace the ipod "interface/module (hw v3.0/sw v3.0)" to get it to work. Now my ipod finally works in my car and I get the MINI logo and everything!
You guys may want to check with your respective dealerships or whoever installed the adapter to see if you may have the same issue.

  • Multiple issues with new IPod Nano+ ITunes 7

I am a formerly happy and loyal Apple user, but have recently become disenchanted due to what I see as bad faith actions.
I bought a new Ipod nano for my wife and brought it home to set up. When I plugged it in, it told me that I needed ITunes 7. Fair enough, I go up to download ITunes 7, only to be told that it won't work with OS 10.2.8 and that I need 10.3.9. There is nothing on the IPod packaging that indicates that I can only use ITunes 7. So as far as I can tell, Apple wants me to pay another $129 to buy a new OS, so that I can use my new ipod. It doesn't give me the option to use it with my existing setup. Is there a workaround so that I can use my ipod with my existing OS?
I started transferring my music collection to a PC to see if I could make it work there, since ITunes 7 works with Windows XP, which I have. This creates a new problem, since I can't seem to get the DRM protected music I bought on my Mac through ITunes to work on the PC. Can't get it to load onto the IPod, which is my whole intent in transferring it. My solution now is to not buy anything more from Itunes, since it will be a pain to transfer it when I change computers. I am not going to burn CDs for 400 songs, just to load them onto another computer. It seems like there are solutions on the web that can help you strip the DRM protection from songs, so I plan on using those to be able to listen to the music that I paid for.
Sor far, I have spent multiple hours trying to make things work. I have no interest in anything other than being able to listen to my music on our Ipods. While I understand the necessity to protect copyrights and limit illicit sharing, Apple has gotten a little too manipulative of a loyal customer base. Apple can count me in the formerly happy, now alienated group.
    Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

I just looked at one of the boxes for the new nano, and it has this on the back:
Requires Mac or PC; USB 2.0; Mac OS X v10.3.9

  • Can I use windows Me/98 with my ipod nano and I need itunes help??!!

    Hey!!,
Ok so I just recieved my Ipod nano today from the post man! and I want to use it with windows Me/98 is that possible?
I also downloaded the newest version of itunes and it said that "itunes requires that your computer is running windows
2000 or windows XP".Can I use a later version of itunes with me ipod nano and where can I download it from ?!
someone please help me Im dying to use my ipod nano!!

You cannot use iTunes under Windows 98/ME. For just synchronizing tracks with your iPod, you could get a third-party utility such as Anapod, Ephpod, or Xplay for handling the transfer. I haven't used any of these and I don't know if any support the new iPod nanos, so I can't make any recommendations. These applications cannot connect to the iTunes Music Store, so unless you upgrade, you won't be fully supported and will not be able to purchase tracks from the iTMS.
I strongly suggest you consider upgrading your version of Windows, though. Windows ME is no longer supported by Microsoft and it's going to get harder and harder to find applications that will work under 95/98/ME.
    Hope this helps.

  • Disappointed with new Ipod Nano

I got a new ipod nano for Christmas mostly for the fm receiver.
I went to the gym today and can only tune in one station while working out. Not only do I have to wear the earbuds that come with the new ipod to even get one station but it doesn't seem to work anyways.
I live in a metro area with plenty of radio stations and good reception with other equipment.
Are there any ways to boost your reception with the ipod nano?
Otherwise this was a waste of money for a new ipod.

I also live in a huge metro area and have no issues getting all the FM stations I want when I am out & about. Did you read the Listening to FM Radio chapter in the iPod nano (5th generation) - User Guide?
Search Apple Knowledge Base. I found iPod nano (5th generation): How to use the station Seek feature for FM radio which should be worth a read.
Call iPod tech support before your 90 days of free phone support runs out if a solution is not found above. Did you also get Apple Care?

  • Cant power up my new ipod nano

I have just bought my first ipod. In the installation process it went dead. Its connected to a Dell Inspiron 2200 via USB. I have taken 'save power' off the USB. I'm obviously doing something really stupid. what?
Alternatively, does anyone have a helplind number for apple in uk?

I just returned my Red product 8G Nano today after having it for 2 days. It wouldn't charge on the Bose Sound Dock and it wouldn't play at all in my Mopar Car Integration kit in my Jeep. I own a previous model Nano and have NEVER had any problems. I recieved the new 4th Gen Nano as a Christmas gift from my husband and was originally delighted that I got an upgrade with a bigger screen, more space for songs and photos, etc....but I'm disgusted that Apple would come out with a new product that is not compatible with so many accessories. I'm not going to buy another Bose Sound Dock for $400, or have another car integration kit installed by Jeep for $350, just to accomodate my new $169 Nano. That's BS. What was Apple thinking? Apple, you don't launch an upgraded product at an inconveniece to the consumer!!!! One step forward and two back. That's just down-right sneaky.
So, I'll gladly go back to using my old Nano with no thoughts of considering buying any of your new products regardless of the so-called advances in technology. I got my money back and you can keep your sneaky product. I'm determined to voice my experience to all those who are considering an upgrade.

  • Is it possible to use Nike plus on the new iPod nano without using the shoes and accessories?

There is a fitness app included and the apple website you can use it without accessories. Which accessories are they talking about?
    Please help

The apple website also says that you dont need anything. Is this true? Sorry anout the questions, this is the first problem I've had with apple products.
"The built-in accelerometer in iPod nano gives you real-time feedback on your workout, and you can upload data to the Nike+ website. There’s no need to connect a receiver or use a shoe sensor to track your steps, distance, pace, and time. Just clip on iPod nano and go. In the gym, connect iPod nano to a Nike + iPod compatible cardio machine to keep track of every workout. Back at your computer, upload all your data to the Nike+ website to create personal goals, check your progress, and challenge your friends to top your results."

  • Recent problems occurring with new iPod Nanos as well?

Are the recent problems associated with the iPod firmware version 1.2 occurring with brand new Nanos, or are they only occurring with Nanos that were running previous versions that have been updated to the new version? I've been considering buying a Nano, but may reconsider if the problems are happening with new ones as well.

I bought a 2GB iPod nano over the weekend. It works great, as long as I don't try to put more than 215 songs on it. iTunes crashes and freezes my iPod every time I try to fill it up more than half way. Every crash requires a hard shut down on my mac and restoration of the iPod.

  • Using an old mac with new ipod?

I own a beige PowerPC G3 (333 Mhz) with USB PCI card and Mac OS 10.2.8. I was wondering if it's possible to use the 5th generation ipod on my aging machine? I plan on purchasing something new very soon, but I was hoping I could at least use my new ipod on my old machine for a little while. I am using itunes 6.0.1.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping to find someone that has been successful with using their ipod with an older machine despite the fact that apple states a user needs more up to date hardware than what I already have. Has anyone out there had any success?

  • Many problems with new iPod nano

I had an iPod Mini for a year, and never had any problems with it. Last month, I bought a Nano (4 GB), and I've already had several problems. Has anyone else experienced these issues?
    1. When I jog with it (which is very often), it often skips.
    2. Several times the purchased music has stopped playing altogether. When I try to play purchased songs, they just skip directly to the next song. The problem is temporarily solved when I restore my Nano, but it then resurfaces within 2 or 3 days- and I have to restore it again. Bottom line, it's a recurrent issue.
    3. In the last 3 days, I can't turn off my Nano (it has nothing to do with the "hold" switch being out of place). It operates otherwise normally, but nothing happens when I hold down the "play/pause" button. I tried resetting it and restoring it, but the problem isn't solved.
I can't seem to find any good references in the Troubleshooting tips Apple has posted.
Thanks for any help that you may be able to give me on solving any of these 3 issues.

Numbers 1 and 2 may be related. The iPod nano will not skip just because you are jogging (it does not have a harddrive).

  • Need help with new ipod nano

Wonder if anyone could help I had the 3rd generation nano and I have just purchased the fifth generation model. Am I able to plug it into my computer and it will link with my i tunes library even though it was previously linked to the 3rd gen model?
Sorry if this sounds like a daft question.

You can sync as many iPods as you want to any given iTunes library. iTunes will recognize each one as unique with its own settings.
    Best of luck.
