Using OSX 10.6.8 Had accidentally uninstalled Mail app.

Reinstalled Mail app  from the installation disk - Mail is version 4.3 It loaded okay, but now it tells me it can't run with OSX 10.6.8  How do I resolve this?

First, thanks for the quick response.  This is the website that I looked at and was trying to follow.  There are no extensions listed in my Safari, and the only two in Chrome are: Google Docs and Java for Browsing.  In Firefox the only extension is Garmin Communicator 4.1.0.
To the best of my novice ability I followed the directions to look at the libraries and have not found malicious things there either.  As I cannot upgrade to 10.7, is there anything else I'm missing?  Again, I've tried my best to locate the cause, but I'm new to looking at files and paths.  Nothing jumps out as abnormal or as something listed on thesafemac.com/arg .

  • Hi, just wondering, if I use the "Hotmail" option that appears in the Mail app on my Iphone 4S, does it automatically use SSL? I've tried to look for the SSL option but it doesn't appear....

Just want to make sure it is safe to use public wifi and push notifications for my Hotmail.

I Had the same us issye on iPhone 5s.  Started when 7.1 came out in April.  Only was to get the mail coming through ysing the mail app was to wipe the phone clean.  It only worked agsin fir 36-48 hours.  I had to install the Yahoo app to just tell me mail was available.  i then manually opened the appke mail app.   Apple was so help.  My internet provider examined my email.  Eventually agter 6 months and other issues starting, my carrier took back the phone and I'm in Samsung.  Miss the iPhone but after trying 3 and all had the same issue something was up.  Never found the issue.   Apples service and quality gas dropped.

  • How to use single key to color a message in Mail.app?

I would like to be able to color code a message's line in the main message summary window by pressing only a single key. In thunderbird, this is accomplished by pressing 1 to 5, each corresponding to a different color.
Mail.app allows coloring a message, to my knowledge, only by bringing up colors chooser and then selecting a color (by default in a inprecise color wheel).
How do a make "hot keys" for specific colors?
    thanks

To answer my own question: Leopard and Mail.app don't suport this directly.
What works is using Fastscripts Lite to bind application-specific hot keys to some simple applescripts.
Here is one such script, modeled on an Apple sample script:
    using terms from application "Mail"
    tell application "Mail"
    set selectedMessages to selection
set selectionCount to (count of selectedMessages)
repeat with messageNumber from 1 to selectionCount
set theMessage to item messageNumber of selectedMessages
set background color of theMessage to green
    end repeat
    end tell
    end using terms from

  • Version four hijacked my screen used task mgr to close had to uninstall what happened?

I downloaded the new version 4.0.1
Normally I have no problem installing the latest version of Firefox, and it is a seamless transition. However, in trying to use the latest, and make it look more familiar, whatever I did hijacked my screen, causing me to lose the ability to close or minimize the window (there were no icons to select), nor could I access my shortcuts to close Firefox. I resorted to the Task Manager to close Firefox, attempted to reboot and reopen, with the same problems. I attempted to get on the chat line, but all I got was a blank window. I reinstalled 3.6 after several attempts to make 4.0.1 work for me. In the process, I lost all my recent history, as well as the tabs that had been open originally. I am now using 3.6. Can you help?

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Windows Accessibility settings.

  • Accidentally Uninstalled Maps App

    Well, I'm an idiot.
I tried to update the version of Maps on my 6760 slide to 3.03, not realising that it doesn't work on this phone yet. Anyway, I uninstalled it after it wouldn't open the app. Now how do I get version 3.01 back on there?
The maps download site does not include the 6760 in the list to choose from. I followed the manual's instructions to downgrade (do a backup, hard-reset), but after the reset the app is still missing. I guess the app was installed on the micro-sd card, not internal memory.
    What do you guys/girls suggest?
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!

Just doing a hard-reset won't install it, so you may have to run Software Update or Download! or whatever you have on your phone.  If that doesn't work, try a Nokia Care Center if you have one near you.

  • I accidentally deleted Mail.app

can anybody tell me how to get it back or where i can re-dowload it?

You can't download it. You can re-install it from the DVD that shipped with your Mac, using Custom install.
EDIT: After that, you should run the 10.4.10 Combo Updater Intel to be sure to update it to the latest version.

  • Accidentally deleted mail app: How do I get it back?

Today I somehow managed to delete my mail app -- it's totally gone. I can't find a way to get it back. Anyone know how I can reinstall it? I tried a fresh reinstall but it seems to remember my last setting with it gone. I have an iPhone 4.

It is not possible to delete any of the apps included with the firmware/OS. None of the apps included with the firmware/OS are available as a separate download and install because it isn't necessary.
If you are unable to locate the app within any folder on any home page, on your iPhone go to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Home Screen Layout.

Tehill which operating system are you using?  I would recommend reviewing the steps in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/aam-lists-removed-apps-date.html in order to reinstall Muse.

  • Using Thunderbird and not Mail App

I was wondering which app does a Mac use when opening jpegs, gif's etc in the Mail app ? I want to use Thunderbird as my mail reader, but do not know which app that will allow me to open the same files in TB. I am using OSX 10.5. Thanks in advance.

Mail doesn't use anything special. It does it on its own. I would assume Thunderbird would do the same.
Perhaps there is a preference setting to turn on inline images.

  • Using .mac with mail.app and iphone...problems with mailbox folders i think

Is it normal in mail.app for my folders to be as follows: Under the heading Mailboxes, I have Inbox folder and Sent folder and trash folder. Then, instead of a junk folder under that, it is below all of that under the heading Chris's Email (obviously my account). Why is this?

Who is your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with your ISP's email account?
Most if not all ISPs used for connecting to the internet now block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the ISP) on Port 25 which is the default port for SMTP servers.
Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only (such as the .Mac SMTP server) on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
These restructions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
    First thing to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below the the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't work, you need to contact your ISP. If you are accessing an email account and SMTP server that is provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet with the Mail.app, in the interim select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.

  • How do you uninstall mail and delete associated files?

I just find the mail application annoying and I never use it.  I'd like to clear out any application I dont use to free up space on my hard disk ... How do I do this?

The mail app only takes up a very tiny amount of space - 60.4mb for the application itself.  I don't think it is worth deleting and I would advise against it.  But if you insist..
I haven't tried this myself, but this is what I found while searching:
Drag Mail.app to the trash and delete it.
use AppZapper which will find everything related to Mail.app and delete it too.
got to Home > Library > Preferences and delete the file "com.apple.mail.plist".
Then go to Home > Library and delete the folder called "Mail". That should get rid of the last traces.

  • Had to uninstall iWork trial since I bought the pages app and it wouldn't let me print or save.  Now the app store says I have pages installed but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it.  I'm not very computer savvy and am getting frustrated!

Ooops, guess I didn't need to post everything in the title - sorry!  I bought the pages app - but couldn't save or print so with some online searching found that I had to uninstall the iWork trial which had expired.  I did that - but now I can't figure out how to re-install the pages app!!  The app store says it's installed, but I can't find it anywhere to open and use it.  I'm not very computer savvy - and am a first time Mac user and am getting extremely frustrated!  I e-mailed some help center and they can't seem to help me either.  I would appreciate any help/advice that can fix my problem - thanks in advance!!

OK Apple has stuffed up the demo version upgrade process so the first thing you need to do is get rid of the demo.
That includes getting rid of the files in the system.
The instructions how to do that are here:
Note That where you see / that is the sequence of folders, each nested inside each other.
    User/Library/Preferences the com.apple.iwork.Keynote.plist
Means the User (you, the little home icon, whatever you are called on your computer) then the Library folder inside that and then the Preferences folder inside that.
Lion initially hides the System folders from you so you have to go to the Finder > Menu > hold down the option key and click on GO > Library to see it.
