Using other Brand of Power Adapter

My Power Adapter just broke and I'm from Philippines and the Service Center in our area needs to order the replacement parts directly from Singapore and it will take 30 Days before it arrive... I really need my laptop for my study and before the item will arrive I might temporarily use my friends Power Adapter, because his laptop is not working anymore...
the brand of his Power Adapter is Toshiba input V- output @ V X 3.95A=75W
while mine is HP input V output @ 18.5 X 3.5A =65W
My question is can use his Power Adapter to my Compaq Presario CQ40-416AU?
Badly need you response...

Not a good idea even you can plug the Toshiba one into your HP notebook.
Your CQ40-416AU AC Adapter has the following specification
AC Smart pin slim power adapter (65-watt) - 100-240VAC 1.7A input, 50-60Hz, 18.5VDC 3.5A output.
The Toshiba output current is too high 3.95A instead of 3.5A.
Do you know what is the output voltage from this Toshiba AC Adapter?

  • Using Apple World Travel Power Adapter with Airport Extreme

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use Apples World Travel power adapters they sell for Powerbooks and ipods on an airport express. I'm looking to use it in Switzerland.
    Thanks

    1) use some sort of USB to Ethernet converter to plug the USB device into the AE
A "normal" USB-to-Ethernet adapter/converter merely makes the computer network capable. Useful if an Ethernet port is not provided originally. This is not what you want in this case. Instead, if you wish to connect an existing Wi-Fi base station (router), you should look for a special adapter (maybe something like this) with an Ethernet output and support for the very USB mobile broadband modem that you are using.
An alternative solution could be a dedicated mobile broadband router (with support for said USB modem), where you choose to or not choose to use its Wi-Fi capabilities.

  • Using MB mostly w/ power adapter, how do I maintain battery?

I use my MB at work plugged in with battery, and of course, once in a while take my MB for a trot, and like to make sure it is ready for normal use with a charged battery, however , I am concerned that running my MB w/battery with power adapter plugged in will lessen the charge and effectiveness of the battery when I decide to use it away from the office. I don't really want to have to take the
battery out and then put it back in when I decide to go somewhere with it. Is there a setting where I can switch just to use my MB with power from adapter, without having an influence on my battery,, or will it be ok to keep my MB plugged in w/battery,, and not have any detrimental effect on battery?

You should always leave the battery in. When it's plugged in and fully charged, your MacBook will not put any strain on the battery. Follow the links below for more information about your battery.

  • Can I use other Apple USB Power Adapters with iPad

I am looking for a spare  Apple Power Adapter to charge my iPad.  I have an iPad (3rd Generation), which came with a 10W USB Power Adapter, Model A1357, output 5.1V. 2.4A USB Power Adapter.  I have two other Apple Power Adapters 1) iPod Power Adapter, Model A1070, output 13V, .62A Firewire Power Adapter, 2) USB Power Adapter, Model A 1265, Output 5V, 1A,and  3) USB Car Adapter,   Can either of the latter three Power Adapters be used to charge my iPad

Technically, yes, but they will trigger the 'not charging' because they're not giving out the 10W that your device wants. And charging with them will take significantly longer than the ipad charger.
I'd only use them as a 'shucks, left my iPad charger at home and I'm in a pinch' situation.
Your best bet would be to either get another iPad charger, or if you're trying to use one adapter for several devices, use the iPad one for the rest of your stuff.

Yes, the iPad charger has more wattage so it would charge your iPhone faster then the square iPhone charger.

I made a video on my iPhone 4S and e-mailed to another party to view. The other party told me he could not view it. He said he got a "not available" message when trying to view it. Next I sent the video to him in a text message. He had the same problem again.

  • Other uses of USB Power Adapter

I have a Toshiba Gigabeat F40, which can charge through the USB port. Can I use the Ipod USB power adapter (M9837LL/A) to charge it?

I ran across a blog recently where they compared charging the iPhone via USB power adapter vs computer and the adapter charged twice as fast. I didn't bookmark it unfortunately and I have no idea why that would be as both should comply to the USB standard.
    Firewire chargers do not work
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1476
It appears to work with the entire iPod line but oddly doesn't mention anything more then 2 years old so perhaps there is some DRM weirdness going on.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB352LL/B?mco=MTIxODk3Mw
I've never heard of anybody damaging equipment via USB charging unless there was some case grounding issue.
