Using Outlook express mail and system 10.9, sending attachments

I have a new Mac, operating system 10.9. Trying to use Outlook Express Mail from work, I am unable to send attachments. Thanks

One thing in there jumps out - the long time taken to connect to the internet after NetProtect was installed. McAfee is a notorious resource hog and that behaviour is typical of the symptoms which persuaded me and others to look for another AV. Microsoft Security Essentials has a light touch and many would recommend it, though there are several other effective, free AVs available. If you do uninstall NetProtect you should make sure to run the McAfee Removal Tool also.
I would advise you to get NetProtect out of the way and return with an update for advice on the email issues.

Outlook Express warning, and it is not used.

I keep getting this message (in red), at log on all of a sudden. We do not use Outlook Express, but use Hotmail which is Outlook.com ... I believe?? They are two different things? Am I correct?
To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes.
I searched a few places and do not want to mess up the computer by using them with not being sure. I am not sure if Outlook Express can be completely removed without causing grief. Or go mess around in the registry with a hex key. Kind of scares me in case I mess it up? Here is what I found... but not real confident about what is correct and best move.

If you are referring to this, then I do recommend using the last option listed in it. The reason for this is that I do not have a Windows XP system with Outlook express installed to test this with. The first option's syntax, order of the command, doesn't look proper to me and I can't verify if it is correct or not. I do know that the second option is valid for a Windows OS.

Can't send E-mails using Outlook Express on WRT300N

Hello, I searched through the forums to find problems similar to mine, but everyone had a different router than mine, plus none of the solutions worked for me.
I just purchaced and installed my router yesterday. Since the install, I have not been able to send e-mails using Outlook Express, but I do recieve e-mails. I am using the WRT300N Wireless-N Router.
Trying to get my local news service up and running, and right now, e-mail communication is vital........

Well of course, but the error message says socket error, which doesn't tell how to fix it. Even the Outlook Express help site doesn't give any suggestions to fix anything, other than "Your internet connection has failed," which is not the problem.
To the disable firewalls suggestion: I did try disabling my firewalls and all of my virus/ e-mail scan software just to check it out. The thing is, I don't see how my Windows XP Firewall, or anything I've been using could be a problem. Right now, because of the error all my sent e-mails are stuck in the outbox, when I disconnect my router and connect everything back up leaving the router out of the picture, the e-mails are sent out as normal. This problem only occurs with the router connected.
I also need to stream live audio, and I've heard it's a pain using a wireless router...
Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully someone will provide the winning suggestion so I don't have to call customer service!

No error messages or anything? If your OE is still running and is using POP, there won't be any email for you to retrieve with your iPad because OE has downloaded the email to your computer. To sync email between your computer and your iPad you need to use IMAP settings on both your computer and iPad, not POP.

Lost outlook express mail boxes and failed transfe...

I have just joined BT from orange (I had a wanadoo email address). I've lost the previous contents of OE mail boxes. Any ideas how I might recover. Also followed the instructions for transferring contacts and got message 'cannot read file' or words to that effect. Help please?

1. If you are lucky your old OE files may still be in the recycle bin on your C: drive so look there first.
I suspect you used the BT disk or similar to setup access to BT and it may have screwed up your existing settings.
If they are there I can tell you how to restore them.
If they are not there look at
c:\documents and settings \{your username on PC}\local settings\Application Data\Identities\{ an identifier}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
where the bits in {} are unique to your machine.
You should find a file for each of your email folders.
Let us know how big the Inbox.dbx file is and any other Inbox.xxx file.

How can I get the Ask Me widget in Captivate 5 to use Outlook Express?

I want to use the Ask Me widget, but I have a customer that doesn't have Microsoft Outlook for their employees. They use Outlook Express as their email client. I have asked them to open Outlook Express when they are in the CBT and click the Ask Me button, but it gives them an error message that says "could not perform the operation because the default mail client is not properly installed."
Is there any way to have it recgonize Outlook Express as their default mail client?

I'd be checking to see how a basic MailTo: function works on the affected PC. Just visit a web page that has a clickable link that opens email. Click the link and observe the behavior. You may find yourself surprised.

Mine is doing the exact same thing, and nobody on any of these threads has had any luck fixing it yet, so far as I can tell. iSync is worthless since it simply won't see the ipod and basically is not used at all now as .mac is done through its own preference window. What did work for me, and was quite easily done, was to just open your ipod through the finder and delete the vcard data in the contacts folder. Export your contacts from address book as a vcard to that contacts folder on your ipod, and it all works fine.
Still won't sync...but at least this only takes a minute to do. I'd like to actually fix it though.

#1 Go to Google.com (or go to your favorite online search engine).
#2 Type in the keywords of outlook express not remembering password
#3 As need be, press Search.
#4 Look at the results.

Changing your Apple ID to your current, working email address will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address.
