Using outlook with mobile hotspot

I use my palmpreplus as a mobile hotspot when traveling and when I use outlook I can't send email using my Roadrunner account as I don't know what to put in the outgoing server field. It will not use my roadrunner outgoing server.

You set up the account details in Outlook separately for each sub-account. Any you don't program into Outlook will not be downloaded and can be viewed by webmail as normal.

Sorry I can't bring you a solution but I am surprised your mail is working. Many of us with outlook 2010 seem to be having trouble sending. It seems apple's Pxx-smpt.mail.me.com server is rejecting the loging. I have tried it on three PC's with Win7 and Outlook 2010. It simply does not work after installing from the iCloud control panel. I have also manually configured the servers, encryption method, etc to no avail.
On the positive side, Calenda and contacts does work. First time around, the claendar duplictaed everything but I manually cleans it out. The iCloud calendar is a seperate calendar in Outlook. It seems to perform a sync with your local calendar one time. From them on, I beleive you need to use the iCloud calendar to have the same appointments show on each device. I renamed the defaut iClouds calendar to "iCloud Calendar". It's definatelly confusing and not seamless. It would be nicer to sync your OL calendar permenantly so you don;t see two or more.
Let me know your settings for iCloud email on Outlook. Try sending an email from the @me.com account.

"No Internet Access" on connected device with mobile hotspot

I've been on Verizon for 2 weeks. Note II on a Family Share Plan with lots of data. Using the built-in Verizon Mobile Hotspot application. Connecting from my work laptop, which is Windows 7.
Set it up and everything worked fine for a week and a half. I had no problems connecting or accessing the internet from my laptop. It worked fine Monday morning. Monday afternoon my laptop started giving me the warning message "No Internet Access" when connecting to the phone's hotspot. I'm in a 4g area where the hotspot has worked previously. I've tried several times in several different 4g locations as time allowed over the last 2 days, and I have not been able to get to the internet on my connected laptop again.
While connected to the mobile hotspot I ran Windows troubleshooter and it tells me that there is no DHCP server available, and that the default gateway for this network is unreachable. My laptop has no problems reaching the internet via the wireless network at work or at home. The laptop connects to both of those wireless networks every day (both before and since this problem appeared.)
I have rebooted both the phone and the laptop, with no change in the problem results. I renamed the hotspot, and connected to the "new" hotspot from my laptop, with no change in the problem results. I have tried running "ipconfig /renew" from my laptop while connected, and that is when it tells me that it cannot find a DHCP server for this network.
What broke? How can I fix it?
I'm still in the 100% refund return period on my contract and phones (for another day or so.) This is an absolute deal-killer. Hotspot on my phone is the single reason why I switched networks.

This morning I turned on the mobile hotspot feature on my wife's Galaxy S3 (on the same Verizon Family Share Plan.) Then I connected to it from my laptop. When it connected it said "limited internet access" for about 30 seconds, and then that warning went away and I had full access. I surfed for a moment to confirm, and all was working. I turned off the GS3 hotspot and turned on the hotspot on my Note II. When I connected to the Note II's hotspot from my laptop I still had no internet access. I left it for 3-4 minutes, and it never switched on. I tried surfing and got only error messages in my browser.
All of this was while sitting at my desk. So I believe I have ruled out the laptop as a cause for this problem.

After I posted the above in February I talked to Verizon support. They could not resolve the problem. They replaced the phone, and the new phone has worked for months. My work schedule changed a bit, and so I started using the hotspot less often.
Last week I noticed that after I connected my laptop I had a longer delay before it would change from "No Internet Access" to giving me access. Yesterday morning it was so slow that I got the command prompt up on my laptop and determined that from the laptop's perspective the problem was that there was no DHCP server available through the hotspot network. That morning it did eventually find the DHCP server and issue my laptop an IP address, and let me connect.
Yesterday afternoon the DHCP server never appeared, and I was not able to connect to the internet. Same thing this morning. I rebooted both the phone and the laptop. No change. The laptop connects to other wireless networks just fine, still. This worked for months. Why did it slow down connecting and then stop? I'm guessing there must be some sort of buffer that has filled up.
Anyone have any ideas?

Does ePrint work with mobile hotspot service?

I have a relatively new HP Officejet Pro 8500a E-All-In-One printer. I use the printer with a USB connection to my laptop, but also with a WiFi connection to my tablet through the mobile hotspot service of my HTC Thunderbolt phone. Until recently, I used this service with an iPad, which worked fine using AirPrint. One thing I noticed early on was that while the printer was seen by the other devices connected to my mobile hotspot, the printer was unable to set up the ePrint service, always giving me the error that it was unable to find an internet connection. All of my other devices are connected to the internet via the hotspot with no special settings created or used. Now that I've switched to using an Android 3.0 tablet, I need to get the ePrint feature working in order to print from my tablet--but I just keep getting the same error: "The Printer was unable to connect to the server. You can connect the printer to the internet through a proxy server..." Am I doing something wrong? The printer is set up using the WiFi signal from the mobile hotspot, and other devices on the hotspot can see the printer...

Hey technobabble1! I've never tried to set this up personally but I think it would work. Try viewing the ePrint troubleshooting information found here and see if it helps at all. If not, let me know what happened and I will try to find out more information for you.

Problems when using my 3G mobile hotspot app

Now this used to work fine, now not working. On my Casio Commando, there is an app that is titled, 3G mobile hotspot. Now I have used this to connect to the internet using my netbook, work one, when in an area that the Verizon Fob Card does not find a good signal. About 2 weeks ago while running this app, it keep telling me that there is no internet connection. Now my netbook tells me that it is connected to my phone, but no internet connection. Have just tried this same procedure on my home computer, and same thing. So why am I not able to connect to the internet, but I can tether? Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S. When I try to check the app by using the manage updates, that app is not in the list. This makes this even more weird.

We want you to be able to enjoy your mobile hotspot on your device. Please try a couple of troubleshooting steps with me. First, please turn on your mobile data, Settings>Wireless & Networks> Mobile Networks> Uncheck Data enabled. Next, turn on airplane mode, Settings>Wireless & Networks>Check Airplane Mode. Then, power cycle your phone. Finally, Make sure Airplane mode is off, Turn mobile data back on, make sure Wi-Fi is off, and turn on 3G mobile hotspot. Let us know if this works.

Please can someone advise me on the following, my problem is similar with the above post.
I have a standard iPad and want to be able to access my outlook in depth on my device.
by in depth I mean to be able to view task reminders/ update accordingly, view business cards in my contacts(all groups) /update accordingly, send and receive emails, view previous emails including ones sent from my computer.
So basically have the maximum control possible over my outlook via my iPad
I have struggled to get a grasp on what is/ is not possible as different sites tend to give you different possibilities but lack in others.
Can someone please be my mr miagi ...

Plug the device in.
Select the content desired to sync under each catergory tab.
Sync.
iTunes remembers what to sync based on the device that is syncing.

I am using Outlook with Icloud and it is changing the contact email order and in calandar is losing the ability to access a web address by directly clicking on it

I just intstalled iCloud on my PC which uses Outlook.
As a result I have to select iCloud everytime I open Outlook to see both my contacts and Calandars
when i go to send an email, iCloud reverses the order of the email address for a particular contact. For example, within the contact in outlook the husband address is in the first email and the wife's address in the second spot. However when I try to send an email in some cases it presents the email address's in the reverse order
When booking southwest airline flights, i save the flight info to outlook calandar. this flight info contains active links to Southwest which allow me to check in without having to enter name, etc. once the calandar event goes to iCloud and comes back to my PC it strips out the ability to have an active link and shows the web address in a text form.
I hope someone has some ideas about this

First make sure Settings > Facebook > Contacts is turned off. Tis might be different from what you described in your question.
Then open your Contacts app and check carefully what is there for your son and grand daughter's contact info. Correct if necessary.

Trying to setup my Airport with, mobile hotspot. I am using an iPad for setup.

Hey there, I am using my iPad to set up my Airport Express.
I'm actually trying to set up a POS, with a printer and it's been a huge headache.
Finally I've come to this possible solution of using an Airport. I did a quick google search and it brought me to this page. Only problem is when I use the Airport utility to tell the Airport to join a wireless next work.
As soon as I press update it'll process then just compeletly not recognize the Airport saying "No Base Stations have been found."
Noticed a few people had the same issue but their solutions were found using a Mac, where as I am limited to an iPad. Any help would be MUCH welcomed.

Once the AirPort Express joins another wireless network it become another wireless client on that network and is no longer performing as a wireless router. To be able to access it with the AirPort Utility, you much connect your iPad to the same wireless network that the Express is connected to.
Another "trick" is to temporarily enable "Airplane Mode," and then, disable it to allow your iPad to search and reconnect to this wireless network.

Using MDM with Mobile Homes

I could definitely use some help! I work for a school that's currently running a 10.6.8 Open Directory server. We use mobile homes throughout the school so students and teachers log in on any machine using their OD credentials to access their accounts. We currently use Workgroup Manager to manage preferences on these accounts. As examples of what we do, students will have restrictions in System Preferences, everyone has specific apps on their docks, etc. This summer we're looking to upgrade our servers and client machines to 10.9.
I've been through the 10.6.8->10.8 OD upgrade with my previous employer and there we decided not to use Profile Manager and just use WGM. We found the preferences were a bit buggy under 10.8 (mostly issues with signed apps, but some sync issues as well). So in my current role we'd like to rip off the WGM bandaid and move into profile management. We're looking at using Airwatch as an MDM, which creates user and machine profiles just like OS X Server's Profile Manager does. I understand that mobile homes are still supported in 10.9, but what I'm unsure of is how the user managed preferences work.
How does the profile sync up with the user? Can profiles be done by group? Do all machines on campus need multiple user profiles installed so they can discern between teachers and different ages of students? Anything else I'm missing?

Problem with Mobil Hotspot, prevents downloading of Android OPS.

I could not download an update to my tablet android operation system. After lengthy discussion with Google tech support, they said the problem had to be with my service provider. They recommended I go to a public place with WIFI and try the download. I did and it downloaded fine. Anyone have the same issue with a mobile hot spot and did you get it resolved?

I have the same issues with my iPhone 5 (6.1.4). I do not have an answer for you, and perhaps my "workaround" will lead someone with more knowledge about these things to offer us more information.
When I turn on the Personal Hotspot and it does not show up as visible on my iPad or MacBook, or offers that ambiguous message about being unavle to join the network, I perform a few steps that almost always resolves it. I have to go through these steps twice sometimes. The order of operations seems to affect the outcome (at least it appears to me that it does)
Turn off WiFi on the client device (iPad, MacBook, Windows laptop, KindleFire, etc)
Turn off Personal Hotspot on iPhone
Turn off Bluetooth on iPhone
Turn off WiFi on iPhone
Then turn on Personal Hotspot and allow it to automatically start WiFi and Bluetooth.
Turn on the client WiFi services.
Connection successful!
As I said, I sometimes need to perform the steps ablve twice, but it eventually works. It is incredibly frustrating to go through these hoops to make the device perform. I do not know precisely when the problem began to occur, but I don't think it did not occur on my iPhone 4s with IOS5.
Any help from the Apple guys would be appreciated. I think it is a software issue, because the shutdown of services and restart seems to resolve the issue. I guess I might take a trip to the Aple Store to have them look at this behavior.

Using Outlook with MacBook is frustrating - need help

One main reason I purchased a MacBook Pro is because I knew they had a compatable Microsoft Office program. Unfortunately now that i have it installed I cant sink my contacts, notes and calendars with the MacBrook Pro/iPdad Iphone. Does anyone know if this can be done successfully?

Microsoft Office does not support iCloud, you can't do what you want.
Use Calendars and Contacts, Reminders and Notes instead.
