Using Parallels w/Macbook Pro
I was using Windows on Parallels and wanted to save a file on my USB drive but it wouldn't read it at all. I am unable to open files from my USB drive in Windows also. If anyone has a solution to this please let me know...Something is blocking the USB from openning in the Windows side but it's fine on the Mac side...

this is what appears...USB device you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another process. Wait 5-10 seconds, then try to connect the device again. If this does not help, find the application that blocked up the device and disconnect it manually.
USB support still stinks. But you can just mount the drive on the OSX desktop and copy your files to a parallels shared folder where they will be available to either OS.
PS This works fine going the other way too if you need to get a windoze file onto the drive.

I ran trouble shooting and conflicts. It now keeps wanting me to switch to a different windows OS rather than 7 which is what I am running and how it worked previously. The only thing I have done in the last several days that may have freaked it out is downloading flash because my flash kept crashing in google chrome (i did days of trouble shooting before doing this. Thanks to Adobe I've used up about 4 days of non productive trouble shooting and now this!). It simply doesn't open anymore - not even an error message.
Just wanted to confirm that the next step should be deinstall/deactivate and then try to reinstall. But worried Adobe has rigged it so that only works if reinstalling on a different computer. Should I anticipate any problems in un & re install?eventually prompts to select which version to use.
That person is misreading the prompt. It merely tells you that if you DO want to uninstall old versions, you should stop the install now and go do that first because the installer won't do it (and you really don't have to--you can uninstall later if you decide you no longer need the old version). It never says you MUST pick a version, although many people misread it to mean that. -

I have two macbook pros a 2.4ghz and a 2.2ghz. Is there a way to use the other macbook pro to help with any cpu intensive apps like audio and video apps. I haven't had much luck on finding anything about sharing resources. It would be awesome if you could link up two macs and use both of them to power through processor intensive tasks.

Can someone connect in FaceTime if they are using a friends Macbook Pro, yet, doens't have an Apple ID?? For example, I have an IPAD and a Macbook Pro. Can I connect to FaceTime on my Macbook Pro and connect with a friend using my IPAD????
I have also tried changing the contact emails(you can contact me by) in Facetime(diff email for IPAD and Macbook Pro). Facetime tried the call, I see the accept buttom appear and it goes away as the call never connects? Any ideas??

Migration Assistant (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Migration Assistant) is the tool that you would use to restore backups from older Macs to another Mac.

Can I use my old Macbook Pro as an external disc drive while installing Windows 7 through boot camp?
I want to install the Windows 7 CD on the newest version of the 2013 Macbook pro 10.9.2 running OSX Mavericks, through Boot Camp. It does not have a disc port, nor do I have an external disc drive....but I do have an older macbook that does have a disc drive and I know you can supplement it for an external disc drive.
My question is can I use my old Macbook pro's as an external disc drive for the installation of Windows 7 in Boot camp? Will this be a problem? Or do I have to buy an external disc drive separately.http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287

I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS6. Well, InDesign is the only one that works and I have a ton of work due! I don't have a serial number for Photoshop or Illustrator except for CS3, and they don't work. InDesign gave me no problems. Illustrator says it can't work on this machine. Photoshop needs a serial number. I'm stumped and getting anxious and freaked out. Can anyone help? Adobe Chat is down right now.

I had a new MacBook Pro that was damaged and I am now using a different MacBook pro as my primary computer (running yosemite 10.10.1).
I did uninstall the Creative Cloud off the old MacBook before I stopped using it.
I have downloaded the Creative Cloud and signed in using my adobe username and password, but when I went to download the Photoshop App it is only giving me the TRIAL VERSION.
How do I make sure that the apps are the full version that I have already paid for? (I do know that my subscription is still current)

No, you do not need to re purchase Lion. You can re download Lion on all your authorized Macs using the same Apple ID.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install. -
How do I set up my AT&T Beam USB modem to use on my MacBook Pro?
I purchased the AT&T Beam after the salesperson at AT&T told me it wouldn't be a problem to use with my MacBook Pro. When I received it, the instructions were bare minimum which didn't help me at all. So, I plug it into my USB and nothing happens. How do I get my MacBook to recognize it?
It is all a bit confusing. AT&T product pages for the AT&T Beam (AC340U) do not appear to say anything about Mac OS X support, but a "Device How-To Center" page does. The latter also mentions Netgear as the manufacturer. At a Netgear site, the following page could be found:

I do not know whether or not the web page above (or the problem/procedure described) is at all relevant to your very modem and the network operator in question. I agree with LowLuster, do contact AT&T tech support and ask them to sort things out.
Generally speaking, I do also agree with Linc Davis about USB mobile broadband modems. The need for special driver software often leads to difficulties. A mobile broadband hotspot (3G or 4G), using Wi-Fi for the local wireless connection, is usually a better solution. An added advantage is that the hotspot location can be changed for optimal radio reception from the mobile tower.

Purchased a used Late 2011 Macbook Pro and cannot get find my Mac to work. What do I need to do?
So I purchased a used late 2011 Macbook Pro from a friend. I am trying to get the find my Mac app set up but it won't let me because I believe he still has it as one of his devices. I texted him a couple days ago to ask him to remove it, but it doesn't seem he has or is in any rush to do that. I was debating re-installing the entire OS to give myself a fresh start. Will this give me the ability to set my computer up on the find my Mac app or is it tied to something more than the hard drive/OS.

I am connected to wi-fi through TC connected to a specific router and is working perfectly and saving data through TM without any issues.
The TC version is 7.6.1 and am using OS 10.7.3
The router mode is on Bridge mode and router is connected to TC through USB cable, I suppose for internet access. My Mac is on wi-fi through TC
I have another location, much further, which recently have been installed with wi-fi through router that has WPA accessibiulity with password, 100% different than the current one.
Since, I will be most of my time in this new location, I wish to move my TC to this new location, and configure it in similar fashion like what I am having right now.
Naturally, I do not wish to lose any saved data on the TC.

Since upgrading to Mavericks I am finding that I am lucky to get 2 hours (when connected to WiFi) of use from my Macbook Pro. I have turned off Bluetooth ( which was not an issue previously), uninstalled Chrome, again not an issue before I upgraded, and have not seen any improvement.

which apps do you run under battery power? Are any of them identified as “apps using significant energy” when you click on the battery icon in the menu bar? If you have a 15-inch or 17-inch model, are your apps using the discrete GPU (which consumes more power than the integrated GPU)?
How many charge cycles has your battery accumulated?
How long have you had Mavericks installed? Is Spotlight still reïndexing your boot drive? (It does that whenever your OS is upgraded, because so many files change in an OS upgrade.)
