Using part of a song on a slideshow

Is there a way that I can use only parts of songs that I have on iTunes for my slideshow?

Not without editing the actual music file.
If you want to make a slideshow where you can fade and xfade the soundtrack you need an app that has more fine control than iPhoto: iMovie, might do it.
Others, in order of price:
PhotoPresenter $29
PhotoToMovie $49.95
PulpMotion $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
Final Cut Express $199
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs.
However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Express is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

Can I use more than one song in a slideshow?  If so, how?  Thank you

    Dear Barbara B.
Thank you for your response.  Good idea about combining the songs in another program first.
Thank you for your time and thoughts.

  • Using more than one song in a slideshow

Hi, has anyone figured out how to use more than one song in a slide show to play on the appletv?
I set it up in Iphoto, but it seems to only allow me to choose one song. I'm having a party and want to have my slideshow play continuously, but would like to have a bunch of songs cycling thru.
    thanks,
    Jeff

In the slideshow settings, choose music and choose a playlist.
In itunes, add as many songs as you want to play to the playlist.

  • Just using part of a song?

I've been watching the tutorials on how to place background music on to my imovie but I cant work out how to select just a part of a song and place it with the correct photo or video clip. Can anyone help?
    Many thanks

There may be a simpler way, but I use Audacity which is a very good and comprehensive programme that you can download for nothing to edit music. Just import & choose the section of music you want and the length to suit the video clip and then export it to Itunes from where you can import to iMovie. That may be an over-simplification, because you may have to play around with Audacity a little if you are not familiar with it, but like all these things a little patience and trial and error should get you there.

  • Using part of a song on a movie

Is there any way that I can use segments from different songs from my iTunes in my movie?

    Two ways to do this.
    1) Drag the track from the music browser into the project pane. Drop it on the frame where you want it to start. It will appear as a ribbon beneath the video clips. You can drag the left "handle" of the ribbon to the right to shorten the clip from the beginning. You can drag the right "handle" of the ribbon to the left to shorten the audio clip from the end.
    2) You can also drag audio into the background rather than on a specific video frame. This method works for either way. You will see a tiny gear icon at the top left of your audio track. Click it and select "Clip Trimmer". You can trim the audio clip and then click Done.

  • How do I use more than 1 song in a slideshow

Now that iPhoto is back and running, thanks to Terence Devlin, how do I put more than one song to a slide show? So far, I can only figure out how to put one in (from iTunes). Ideally, I would like to phase out in the middle of one song and splice into another...I know the answer is out there Thanks

You can choose a playlist, rather than one song. You may need to look for the little dimple in order to see your playlists in the window. Have a look at this thread and click on lori's helpful screenshots for detailed instructions.
To have one song fade out in the middle and transition into another song you can create your compilation in Garageband. Launch Garageband and drag the first song into the track area of the main window. You can keep dragging songs in, placing them in the same track. You can shorten a song, fade it out where you want it to fade, and fade in to the next song. Save it to iTunes, where it will be a new "song". Select that for your slideshow.

  • Can I use more than 1 song in a slideshow?

    Hello!
Is there a way I can make a slideshow in iphoto and choose more than 1 song from my itunes list to play with it? I don't want to edit songs together in another application or anything complicated like that. I just want to choose more than 1 pre-existing track, to play one after the other, for the slideshow. I really like the way iphoto fits the pictures to the music but it needs to be 2 songs this time. Thanks!

I knew I was missing a piece to the puzzle. Thanks!
Now, is there a way to "join" the 2 slideshows I created for the 2 different songs? I tried selecting and dragging to a new slideshow but those photos in the slideshow won't drop to another slideshow or another album. It would take hours to find them again in the albums and arrange in a new slideshow.
    Thanks!
p.s. I also tried selecting the photos, copying and pasting. nothing happened.

  • Using only part of a song in iMovie?

I've been using iMovie for a while and it's great but one thing I haven't been able to figure out yet is an easy way to use just a portion of a song.
I want to use about six or seven different songs in my iMovie project, but only use certain parts of those songs (a 20 second portion in the middle of the song for example). I don't see any way to "trim" audio like you can with video or to specify to iMovie "only play from 1:20 to 1:50 in this audio track".
What I have been doing is cutting the portion of the song in QuickTime Player 7 and exporting as a new MP3, but there's gotta be an easier way than that I hope?

Good Tutorial for how Audio works for iMovie 08 is [here.|http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/imovie08.html#audioclips]
The same principle applies for iMovie 11.

  • Is it allowed to use parts of an existing record for building a new song in Garageband, e.g. the rhythm part of that record?  Is this what people call ripping or trimming? And if it is allowed, what is the procedure then?

unless you pay royalties to the copyright owner of that song, it's illegal to use someone else's recordings to build your own (which software you use doesn't enter the equation):

  • How can I edit out a part of my song in itunes?

I need to edit out a part of my song but keep the rest. And the part I need to edit out is in the middle.

    Bakergirl,
You can use iTunes to remove the beginning or end of a song (or both) by setting the Start and Stop times.
But to remove a section from the middle and keep the rest, you will need an audio editor such as Audacity.

How do I add more songs to my slideshows in elements 11?

    Welcome to the forum.
However, this is the Photoshop>General Discussions forum, and does not cover either Elements program, Premiere Elements, or Photoshop Elements, or their Elements Organizer.
If you can please let us know exactly which of the Elements program you are using (either Premiere Elements, or Photoshop Elements, through the Elements Organizer), a MOD can Move your post to the appropriate forum, where you will get quick answers.
Also, additional music can be Imported into several of the Elements programs, but knowing exactly which you are using, will dictate the instructions.
Good luck, and please let us know more.

  • How do I put parts of multiple songs into one song?

I'm trying to make a mix of songs for my friends party and I was wondering how I could put parts of multiple songs together into one soundfile? If iTunes can't do this are their any other softwares that could do this? Thanks, appreciate it.

    Prosper,
That is beyond the ability of iTunes, and requires the use of an audio editor.
A free one that many people like is Audacity.
After you do the editing in Audacity, you can export an MP3 and add it in to your iTunes library.  The original files remain unchanged.

  • How do I select part of a song?

I am creating some voice overs using songs from iTunes as background, and am using the Podcast part of Garageband for that. When I drag the song into Garageband, I have the whole song showing as a track. If I only want to use part of it, how can I select that part I want to use? Once I do select it, what next? In my first attempts, I have used the cycling selection as one means of doing this, but it seems like there should be an easier way. Thanks.
    Joe

Sorry, but I am brand new to Garageband, and am finding it very complex compared to other applications. When you say to drag the ends, I don't know where to find those. Do you mean in the track itself?
I am confused by what should be done in the track itself, versus the big section you get at the bottom when you double click on a track, versus the Podcast track, versus the bar at top if you use cycle or arrange.
Thanks for the link, I will read all of those, but I am really struggling with this app.
    Thanks.

  • Going to a particular part of a song

I looked in the help and forums but cannot figure out to "fast forward" thru a song to get to the part where I want to get without waiting thru it. Once I have waited thru it once I can go back to the point where I actually want to get, but if the song "finishes" all the way, I can't go back using the slide control.
I ALSO would love to be able to insert a point in a song that's a "skip to" point rather than having to manually scroll thru.
My son is using this to rehearse songs, and sometimes there is over a minute of instrumental before he gets to the part of the song he really needs to rehearse. If you need to rehearse something 20-30 times, this is a LOT of wasted time!!!!
    Please help!

cannot figure out to "fast forward" thru a song to get to the part where I want to get
Drag the slider at the top of iTunes in the *Now Playing* window.
I ALSO would love to be able to insert a point in a song that's a "skip to" point rather than having to manually scroll thru
In iTunes, select the song, right click - get info.
Click the Options tab and set the *Start time/Stop times* to what you want.
When you play it, it will always start here.
