Using .pdf files with annotations from "preview" on Ipad

I am a medical student have been using preview on my MacBook to take notes on pdf file presentations for several years. I am looking to getting an ipad and want to be able to transfer all these .pdf files over to be able to access on the iPad. Is there an application that will preserve my annotations so they show up in the pdf file when viewed on the ipad?

Are you using a mouse, or a trackpad on a laptop? Either way, your cursor is usually an arrow, right? And presumably it's working/moving MOST of the time, otherwise you wouldn't be able to do anything?
For example, can you move the cursor arrow to the "Annotate" tool to click on it and go into Annotate mode? If so, can you click on the text tool? If so, does the cursor change to a crosshairs? At what point can you NOT move the cursor around the screen?

The default to open a pdf document always goes to "preview", which frequently marks the file as un readable. i have to save the pdf to a folder, then go in and "Open with" adobe. How do i change the default for any document with a .pdf subscript to automatically open with Adobe?

If these are files, that are already on the Hard Drive, click once on a pdf document to highlight it.
Press the Command + I keys, to Get Info.
Click on the ▼ Disclosure Triangle for Open with:.
Select Adobe if listed. If it is not listed, select Other..., and navigate to Adobe, and press Add.
In the Get Info window, click on Change All.
If these are pdf documents, that you are viewing on the Internet, a handy utility to use is PDF Browser Plugin.

I would like to create a PDF file that is viewable without a password but should not be editable either in Preview or any other software.
What is happening now?
I created a PDF file by placing rectangle boxes on confidential info as shown below. I save it as a PDF file. However, the recipient is able to easily delete or move the rectangle boxes I have placed on this file. I want to prevent this behavior so that I can mask all the confidential info.
I tried to set 'Security Options" when trying to Save as PDF. But that only prevents copying or printing but doesn't disable 'editing'.

You can print your PDF file to PDF. This will make all edits permanent.
To do that, you go under File/Print, choose Save as PDF in the drop-down PDF menu in the lower left corner of the dialog box, give the file a new name, click save and that's it.

Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are having problems printing a secured PDF.
I would like to help.
You did not mention what model of printer you have, or how you are sending the print job to it.
Since the Phone is Android 4.1 I can rule out the ePrint app.
The App is only supported on 4.2 or higher.
I am going to proceed under the assumption you are sending the PDF to the printers ePrint address.
I am also assuming your printer supports ePrint.
ePrint does not support encrypted or secured files.
This is why the password protected PDF will not print.
Try saving a version of the document without a password.
Send this version to the printers ePrint address.

Open Acrobat pdf file with Pages

Hi,
I've read a lot of information about using pdf files with the ipad. I purchased goodreader but I'm not happy with the way text is rendered, it is blurry. When I open the same file with Safari, it looks perfect. Sent an email and I'm waiting for a response.
I was reading about Apple Pages for the ipad. Will this open pdf files or just export to pdf files? Thanks.

Pages is a word processor, not a pdf reader. It can only export to pdf.

I can't use thunderbird 31.2.0 (Mozilla) to send attachement from a pdf file with Acrobat PRO XI. Each time, Acrobat replies (in french) : "il n'y a pas de client pour la messagerie par défaut". Thunderbird is indicated as "by default" in the list of programs of Windows.
Even if I type my e-mail address, etc. in the account of Acrobat, it doesn't change. Each time, I have to record a PDF file in a folder and return to Thunderbird to send it as attached. It is a too long process, compared with Windows XP with Acrobat Reader or Acrobat 5, I had before.
Would you please help me to explain the process. My OS is Windows 8.1.

When I introduce my e-mail address under Edit-Preferences-Email
Accounts, Acrobat ask the e-mail account, the password, the IMAP for
ingoing message (and I use POP) and SMTP for outgoing messages. Even I
introduce all the datas, it doesn't change, Acrobat is unable to send
the message. And the process is not convenient, because I need all my
outgoing messages be documented inside Thunderbird.
So, I repeat my request : how can I use thenderbird as program by
default from Acrobat or any other software ?

If I understand your question, you want to read pdfs on your iPad, not create or edit.
Drag pdf files to the iPad icon in Finder while connected to your computer via the USB cable.
They will show up in the iBooks application
(If you don't already have iBooks, it's a free download from the App Store.)
Once installed, there are two buttons at the top left of the Bookshelf.
One is Books, the other is Collections.
Tap Collections, and you'll see Books and PDFs.
Tap PDFs and you're there.

Figured it out. It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat. Here's the fix:
Open Finder/Applications
Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
Quit Safari
Launch Safari
Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

When I try to open the pdf file within aol e-mail I get a message: 'Your security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded'. I have not changed my security settings (Tools, Internet Options, security).

As long as the PDF opens, then just try saving it to a new file name. There may be a preflight script that would help troubleshoot the issue.
